It’s been a crazy busy week for me. And now I’ve got a very heavy cold. Feeling awful and so sorry for myself. Decided to delay taking my jab today until tomorrow when I’m hopefully feeling a little better - I just can’t face it.

notgonnafail · 03/10/2025 12:26

feel better soon @lissie123

Woodywig · 03/10/2025 12:44

Hi May starters.

i haven’t posted in ages - but i lurk & keep as up-to-date on the thread as i can.

I'm currently just starting my 6th pen. I did
x1 2.5
x3 5.0
x2 7.5

I’ve done well. I started at 125kg and now @ the six-month mark I’m 103kg which is great. But still have a long way to go. Target is currently 80kg - so I’m half way there.

apart from my husband no one has mentioned my weight loss - not friends, not family, not even my mum. ive gone from size 24 to size 20 - but think people still just see ‘plus size’. I do feel much better in myself though!

I have found 7.5 less effective than previous doses - I’ve only lost 1kg in the last 5 weeks and have been hungry with more sweet treats sneaking in.

I would have moved up to 10mg but I bought x2 7.5 ahead of the price rise so plodding on with second pen!

hope everyone else is doing well on their journeys.

onwards & downwards x

Gone a bit off track this week, by which I mean I've fallen off the wagon well and truly. It doesn't feel like self-sabotage, I just want to eat really tasty food. I suppose it's not the end of the world but I hope I go back to my salads soon.

I’ve been of track since coming to Spain! But my daughter is telling me I am not of track as I am eating real food, and though my loss is slow I am losing. Some weeks I have stayed the same but I have lost 3.1kg (6.8lb) since 23rd August. So even when of track but being mindful on the days I can we can still lose. Please don’t be down on yourself as this is our new way of life!

Kbr22 · 03/10/2025 14:11

Check in day for me.
Just taken 21 Jab so after 20 Jabs
SW82kg
CW 69.5
ATM GW 62kg
BMI 28 so still in overweight.
I am happy to be at last in the 60kg’s but only by 0.5!!
Hope all those who are feeling unwell get better soon, there are so many lurgies around at the moment and coming into the winter blues.

Here in Spain, I think more people speak about weight loss, and so many people have said they think I am doing really well. At home even my own sisters don’t mention it.

Really well done to those who are nearly at goal, and come on the plodders we will do this!

Ooh, spa day in a lovely place sounds perfect! I am jealous @ElsieJay

Hope little one feels better soon @SussexLass87

Well done to all with losses and being close to goals! I am still so far away from mine and am beginning to worry I may never make it!

Having a little panic, as it hit me just how much MJ I have stockpiled from buying on time but staying on a very low dose. I can't afford to buy anymore until they run out in January so have had to 'fess up to check prescriber will let me reorder at the right dose with such a big gap!

Nice quick reply, all will be well - I don't have to place another order until I need one, and won't be dropped down to 2.5mg! Also a nice reassuring reply to my query about maintenance (though oh so far away!) that I won't be cut off and left adrift!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 03/10/2025 14:36

Thanks @Kbr22. I don't want to weigh myself this week but I need to. I'm panicking. It sounds so privileged American high school soap opera in my head ('I ate a muffin!' - 'you ate an entire muffin?!') but that doesn't stop me from panicking.

notgonnafail · 03/10/2025 14:40

hang in there @DidILeaveTheGasOn We all have crappy weeks/months. Secret is to just get the weigh-in (and the scare) done and use it to re-motivate. I gained this week and last week. Am now bucking up my ideas, have upped my dose a bit as had put off doing that for about 4 weeks too long and have meal-prepped with avengeance! You can do it xxx

Gingercar · 03/10/2025 15:03

Having a muffin is not a failure and doesn’t make it a bad week!

I saw this on Facebook yesterday and thought of us.

Great losses @Woodywig, down to 103kg is a huge result. I think no one said anything until I lost at least 15kg. I feel like my body shape really changes in the last 4 weeks so that's when more people started commenting (I started at 110kg and it was only at the 94kg mark when I got the first comment).

Also funny how different people react to the pens, I had small losses on 5mg, but 7.5 has been brilliant. I'm on my 2nd pen of 7.5, 3 jabs in and I don't see even slightest change in the effects yet. So will definitely be staying for pen 3 on this

ElsieJay · 03/10/2025 15:14

That’s good news, @notgonnafail.
And I agree, better to bite the bullet and face the scales - it might be a pleasant surprise , or a kick up the backside, but knowing what you’re dealing with is half the battle.

I did a mini-overhaul of two wardrobes straight after lunch , which was both good and bad .
Good : finding two pairs of smart black trousers that now fit , though one pair needs taking up. Also three large bags ready for donating to the charity I support.
Bad : cannot find my denim jacket, which was the perfect fit, length and style and quite a recent purchase. DH and I have tried every cupboard, wardrobe, checked the car etc .
Fuming ! 🥲

notgonnafail · 03/10/2025 15:18

@ElsieJay I lost my favourite winter jumper somewhere between hubby's appt in UK and France, or possibly when out with my sister so I feel your pain. Hope it turns up somewhere.

ElsieJay · 03/10/2025 15:51

Thanks, @notgonnafail - it’s so frustrating isn’t it.
I’m thinking it must have gone missing late spring, probably wore it over a dress to go out somewhere, got too warm and left it over the back of a chair in a café ….

Thanks @PandaIsMySpiritAnimal well done on your great progress. and amazing that you’re actually ‘seeing’ the results now. How exciting!

I’m hoping once I get below 100kg - maybe the loss will be more noticeable.

re doses - I’ve had steady losses on 2.5 & 5 - but totally stalled 7.5.

But! And I wonder if this has affected things…. I ordered two 7.5 pens & my son took delivery of them but he didn’t put them in the fridge until the next day. So the cold chain was broken for 12 - 24 hours before opening the pens. I do wonder if this has changed the effectiveness of the meds?

I’ve got x2 more 7.5 doses to go then ill move up to 10mg 🤞🏽

notgonnafail · 03/10/2025 16:08

@ElsieJay is all too easily done! I often think I need to be attached to my clothes with elastic like I was with mittens as a child!

PandaIsMySpiritAnimal · 03/10/2025 20:27

@Woodywig oh that is interesting...maybe that could be it. But I've heard so many people's stories of the pens being delayed etc and still ok..maybe your body just adjusted quicker.
Hopefully you are still loosing weight, albeit it might be harder work.
When I was on 5, I was losing about 0.5 peer week max and it driving me up the wall on daily basis...I now look at it after 2 months, and all I see is a downward trajectory, it doesn't matter it was small as still went in the right direction :)

Seahorsesplendour · 03/10/2025 20:35

Lovely reading so many updates tonight!! Busy day on here!! 😊

hope everyone with bugs & illnesses feels better soon!

we’ll done for all the losses & NSV’s!

my NSV today was my 7 yr old poking my collar bones & asking what they were 😂🤣😂 … now I rediscovered them a while back but after our amusing chat about them today realised I can now feel & see them all the way along not just where they protrude the most!!!

happy weekend to all

DBatteryBand · 04/10/2025 00:04

Just popping in to report I've had a shocking week. I have eaten piles of biscuits. Moving up to 7.5mg from tomorrow, which will hopefully help. Not quite sure why I've found the allure of the biscuit tin so irresistible this week - I did inject the 'golden dose' for the first time (I wasn't wearing my glasses and am genuinely wondering if I managed to stuff it up somehow.) I am also struggling with an ongoing ear infection and feeling pretty low, however it doesn't excuse the biscuit eating. As far as I am aware M&S chocolate chip cookies have no antibiotic qualities.

tostaky · 04/10/2025 01:53

@DBatteryBand we are only human, we fail sometimes but we can pick ourselves up and keep going. Tomorrow is a new day.
she says to herself after drinking a bottle of wine while binge watching love is blind and some snacks

DBatteryBand · 04/10/2025 06:39

@tostaky You are very kind. I feel I should put posters of myself up in all the local shops - 'Do not sell biscuits to this woman.'

VashtaNerada · 04/10/2025 07:55

I’m interested to see if other people are having the same sort of experience as me on MJ. So, my typical week is…

Days 1 & 2 - low appetite. Absolute exhaustion. Definitely need afternoon naps on those days. The one time I didn’t, I was very violently and repeatedly sick in the evening.
Days 3-4 - nausea, very low appetite. Can’t face food before ten or after six. Normally one day of diarrhoea which thankfully can be managed with Imodium. Generally throw up once at some point over those days.
Days 6 & 7 - appetite returns, I can eat pretty much what I like and feel well.

Does this sound like other people’s experiences or am I just really unlucky with SE? The one time I didn’t have a week like this was my eighth week on 2.5 when I went pretty much back to normal and was clearly ready for 5.

I’ve lost 2.5 stone so it is working but god I feel rough!

SutekhsEars · 04/10/2025 08:02

Definitely not vashta and I couldn't carry on if I felt like that.
I eat normally but don't snack - my portions are probably a bit smaller than pre-mj. I experienced fatigue for about 2 months but I think that has gone now.
I'm not surprised you're losing weight as it sounds like you can only eat normally 2 days/week.

VashtaNerada · 04/10/2025 08:09

Yes exactly! It’s weightloss but at one hell of a cost… I do really want / need to lose weight so I don’t really want to stop yet though.

notgonnafail · 04/10/2025 08:17

@VashtaNerada My first 2 weeks were like that, so I decided to split the dose in 2 and just do half on day 1 and the other half on day 3.5. It worked to stop the side effects for me as it keeps the peaks and troughs of how much medication is in my system a little more even through the week. And I have only increased my dose really, really slowly (0.25mg every 3-4 weeks or so). Not giving medical advice obviously, and something to discuss with your prescriber perhaps, but it did help to minimise SEs for me. I wouldn't still be on it now if I'd felt like that every week from the start.

SutekhsEars · 04/10/2025 08:19

What dose are you on Vashta? Could you reduce it at all?
