This time last year I had eaten at least 3 chocolate oranges, on our 3rd tub of palm oil /'chocolate' and home made mince pies, plus cheese etc etc. Plus wine, beer.
Makes me feel sick thinking about it.
I'm just saying no to the unnecessary, very eye opening though isn't it looking at it from this perspective. I thought I'd struggle, and I have, but not from deprivation just from all the constant pressure to eat eat eat, at every turn. It's exhausting just telling everyone no I don't want to eat your well intentioned fattening crap 😂, but thanks!
We've got a one more glutton fest to go where everyone else will be gorging on bacon sandwiches and pastries Christmas morning, then Christmas lunch which I can navigate by eating veg/turkey then that's it.

Definitely eye opening. This must be how "normal " people see food all the time! I'm realising how mentally exhausting the battle in my brain was all the time of the constant internal dialogue of "I want that food, but I shouldn't eat it coz I'm fat, but the food will make you feel all cosy. Ok I'll give in and eat it. Then the shame of having no willpower."

But MJ has turned that all on its head, it was never about lack of willpower,.none of it was my fault. It's Biology and hormones. Obesity is a chronic disease just like my under active thyroid as I've said many times on this thread and no one would dream of saying "you just need willpower to make your thyroid normal". I need thyroxine for my chronic condition of under active thyroid just like I need MJ for my chronic condition of obesity. Just annoying it's so flipping expensive.

Getting off my soap box now......

I'm cooking for 8 people on 25th (6 of them are me DH and DC 😂) so not much more than normal. We do have 4 different desserts though as that's because the DC all line different things and it will do us a few days 😂

Fairfaxandflavor · 23/12/2025 19:31

Sounds lovely @Fatmumslim01 ,and yes it's really sad it's so expensive now, isn't it.
I'm doing a brandy and peach trifle, which I may have to sample a spoonful of.
The first time in 30 odd years of marriage I haven't baked mince pies, tesco will have to do.

northernlight20 · 24/12/2025 08:18

Hi everyone, final weigh in before Xmas. Sw 114.4kg, current weight 71.9kg gw is 64kg even though nearly everyone is telling me i need to stop now and yet I’m still overweight. I won’t stop till I get to 64kg. Anyway, like everyone else, it’s good to not obsess about food and drink simply cos it’s Xmas. Nice to enjoy a few treats and leave it at that.

Bipaloss · 24/12/2025 11:17

Ingangoolie · 24/12/2025 17:14

Happy Christmas to this lovely group, liked the info in this video about maintenance (around 18 mins in) and also about importance of keeping muscle.

GameOfJones · 24/12/2025 17:24

Just popping on to say Happy Christmas to everyone on this lovely thread.

Fatmumslim01 · 24/12/2025 18:26

Happy Christmas everyone. Thanks for all the support in 2025 and let's keep it going in 2026, whether we are at maintenance, near goal or have a long way to go, here's to healthy people in 2026!

Fatmumslim01 · 24/12/2025 18:27

Ps has anyone watched the "what happens when you come off skinny jabs" on iPlayer. As much as I hate the term skinny jabs (I'm not doing this to be skinny 🙄) it was actually a pretty good little program

MJ122025 · 26/12/2025 09:01

I'm posting here for accountability. Not giving myself a hard time but just acknowledging and recognising I'm not heading the way I want to.

Started in March at 190lb/13st 9. Lowest weight was 159lb/11st 6. 31lbs lost. Felt amazing although hair was very thin and I had no ass. All done on 5mg.

Relaxed a bit, dropped to 2.5mg but continued to weigh daily. Weight was creeping up and today I'm 169lb/12st 2.

BUT it was Christmas day, and I've been scoffing all week, and I've been ill with the cough/cold plus I've had alcohol this week which I don't usually. So it's not the end of the world.

BUT in the last few weeks my hair has thickened back up despite my new jeans being tight and I'm still 20lbs lighter.

I ordered a 5mg pen two weeks ago and took the first dose from that today. Hopefully that'll take the edge off and stop me diving head first into the Lindt balls.

Onwards.

Flamethrowers · 27/12/2025 10:04

Hello all,
I hope you all had an amazing xmas
still chugging along on 2.5 and may try to loose my last half stone this January
I seem to have developed a fat intolerance which is annoying
I think the best thing about not feeling over weight is the absence of self recrimination!

JudgingJudy · 27/12/2025 10:23

Similar here @MJ122025
Started in March 182lbs and BMI27.3(? I'm 5ft 8) and high cholesterol.
My hair was ok but I felt cold, low energy and anhedonia ( which is a word I've only recently discovered! 🤔) Despite training, including weights, I lost muscle mass - I do triathlon and use a Garmin watch and Garmin smart scales. I could also see my flapping triceps.
I took 2.5/5 mg and lost 1lb many weeks. I felt great physically on MJ, no stomach bloating, clothes fitting , easy not to snack, cholesterol improved. Just low mood/energy. Got to lowest weight 163lbs in August. But it was not all fat loss.

Anyway I got Covid in August, felt exhausted and had a triathlon in October so I stopped MJ. I put on 8lbs including 2/3lbs of muscle so I restarted mid October. I was back to 172lbs. Eating felt out of control.

I've now lost 3lbs in 10 weeks!! 😂 I'm 169lbs.

But I'm actually fine with that. I have used one 2.5 pen and I'm back on 5. I plan to stay with that because I didn't gain over Christmas. My BMI is 25.something.
I ate the Lindt balls and didn't gain.

I hope to lose a lb every 2 weeks in January.

I'm hoping for slow fat loss, and enjoying training, so no anhedonia.

Slow progress is still progress.

JudgingJudy · 27/12/2025 10:26

@TheSpoonyNavyReader how are you doing. I've missed your updates. I'd all ok?

JudgingJudy · 27/12/2025 10:26

@TheSpoonyNavyReader how are you doing. I've missed your updates. I'd all ok?

Good morning
I was going to post today so thank you for the nudge.

My weight has stayed stubbornly the same even though I have done everything to get to 8st 7lbs. I am exercising, I am eating protein drinking 3 litres of water everyday.

I am losing inches still but now a lot slower!

Can you all remember the skirt that I bought ages ago that I could not even get past my bum at the beginning of March well that is now too big for me and has been donated to charity. I wore in about 5 times so about £75 a wear.

Christmas has been tricky as I am surrounded by delicious food I bought what I would normally buy and we have mountains of food left, which goes to show it was me mainly eating it without realising that every time I opened the fridge a dessert or some cheese would be eaten by me.

How is everyone else doing?

SW 13st 4
CW 9st
TW 8st 7lbs

Morning all, how was everyone’s mj Christmas. I ate more than usual on Xmas day and yesterday, when I attempted to overindulge on leftovers, I ended up physically sick. Was almost like it was just sitting in my stomach then it all came back out. I think my stomach has shrank a lot and couldn’t cope with the greedy volume of food. Anyway, a sneaky weigh this morning and I’ve put on 2lbs. Thankfully back in work now till the 2nd of Jan, so there won’t be a chance to over indulge.

Fatmumslim01 · 27/12/2025 11:29

Hi all, well this has been my first Christmas on mounjaro like all of us and it's amazing! Absolutely loving it. Absolute freedom.

Yes I've eaten more than usual but still in moderation, in fact I edited our Christmas ocado a few hours before the deadline and actually took stuff off as we just weren't fussed about it.

I'm still having all the lovely food I want to but thanks to mj I can have smaller portions and still be satisfied eg my Christmas dinner fitted onto a side plate and my dessert was in a "gu" style dish if that makes sense so alot smaller than last time. I've still had trifle for breakfast on boxing day mind 😂

Barely any alcohol but I'm not a big drinker anyway. In the last week I've had 2 glasses of red wine, 2 Bailey's (in hot chocolate) and that's it. We had alcohol free prosecco on Christmas day so the teens could have some.

Pleased to report I got weighed this morning and I've maintained at 10-13 (Maintaining over Christmas I mean, I'm nowhere near "maintenance" yet).

Onwards and downwards everyone!

Puddingpiper · 27/12/2025 13:06

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas it was an eye opener here on MJ I thoroughly enjoyed my Christmas dinner and Boxing Day buffet at my parents plus a few glasses of wine on Christmas Day. I also enjoyed eating what I felt like rather than filling myself with crap just because it was Christmas. I have maintained so far which is rewarding, I’m 5 kilo below my original target and hoping to lose another couple of kilos to give some wriggle room as I’m happy at the weight I am now.

2025 has certainly been a transformative year! Going into 2026 6 stone, ex partner and a stepson lighter!

GiveMeWordGames · 27/12/2025 13:47

I was 12st 1 last week, and I've held there. Not much booze at all, and a fraction of the cheese and chocolate I would normally eat. Survived a Boxing Day pub lunch yesterday - just had starter and main and no dessert and then a few nibbles later, no other meal. And what's amazing is I just don't feel like I'm missing out or depriving myself.

TheBossOfMe · 28/12/2025 10:32

Morning all. I was dreading stepping on the scales this morning because I felt like I’d eaten a lot more than usual over the Christmas break, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day all big meals, several courses and free flowing wine. Plus not enough time for exercise in amongst all the entertaining.

Amazingly enough, I haven’t gained a pound. Holding steady below goal. I think my portion sizes were really controlled this year - and no snacking or fridge picking. MJ has truly been a miracle drug that has let me reset my brain.

Hello ,

checkin in , pre TOTM (due next week) and TG I went back on MJ . Took dose as scheduled Christmas Eve and saved me, well for 36 hours and then food noise etc puff went away overeaten and fatty food deffo dosnt sit well , every night I wake up with nausea . Trying to eat light now until new years

so far gained the lb back that I lost last week but I’m puffy TOTM (2.5 mg water loss is not there this time around so hoping it comes with higher doses)

for those who are not loosing weight on higher doses but loosing inches , here is some proof. I gained 1st since stopping first time but clothes still fit the same , actually I tried on some of my skinny clothes from years ago yesterday and some fit more lose now then when 1st lighter. The one think I have seen some weight gain is my face , and actually to the positive the ozempic wrinkles and neck is not there (although hoping it comes back soon , just have to remind myself that if it happens again) . Don’t feel down if not weight is shifting as dress sizes are!

as my next jab is due new year eve I’m doing it day before after 6 days and the following 6 days after that so that im back to Sunday jabbing like Origional jab , day when I go up to 5mg

3.5 st in 2025 lost (was 4.5 st)
aiming for another 3st in 2026

Yetanotherusername2000 · 29/12/2025 09:41

Definitely feeling bleh today after another pub lunch yesterday. Have broken into my next pen - I was going to try a month off but I think perhaps this isn’t the month to try!
have maintained over some of this week, but the leftovers/pubs are really hard for me and I’ve gone up 3lb more than I am comfortable with
Hope everyone else is managing. This thread is a total lifeline!

Fairfaxandflavor · 29/12/2025 11:44

I'm finding it hard to knock back the commenters, this month,it's like batting off Mrs Doyle, aah go on go on, have a sausage roll, looks like you need it etc etc. admittedly I am at a lowish weight, but seriously piss off. I can't imagine anyone saying to me when I was fat, put down that sausage roll it looks like you don't need it.
I am not going to eat food I don't want to or drink alcohol I don't want, I had a prosecco Christmas day which was OK, I ate what I wanted too, which I know nowadays is a small amount but it's all I want. It's just relentless this time of year, it makes me feel sick looking at it, and smelling food as well, in much the same way that smelling a fag these days makes me heave now I've stopped smoking. Like a switch has been flipped, weird. Anyway soon it will be diets diets diets, and it will be OK to eat yogurt and fruit instead of bloody endless cake and chocolate, roll on new year😂

museumum · 29/12/2025 14:26

Hello. So nice to know you’re all still here. I dropped down to 5 (from 7.5) on Boxing Day (one day late). I feel like I have an inbuilt stop now which is great. Im still pretty terrified of stopping completely but we’ll see. Im still 2-4kg over target but cannot afford to keep on indefinitely (not unless I gave up PT or yoga and I don’t want to do that). MJ costs the same per month as a weekly 1:1 PT strength session and a yoga class.

Fairfaxandflavor · 29/12/2025 14:37

@museumum personally I would bin off the PT and or yoga all day long if it meant that I could stay on mounjaro. I personally could get by with a home yoga session on you tube, however nothing replaces the feeling and effects of mounjaro, but I get it's completely personal, I'm managing on a small dose of mj but it will run out at some point and that terrifies me.

Fatmumslim01 · 29/12/2025 16:49

@museumum I also would prioritise mj over PT and yoga. In fact we are thinking of not renewing our gym membership when it's up for renewal as we just aren't getting the use out of it and the £1000 it costs would really help especially with the massive monthly cost of my jabs.

museumum · 29/12/2025 17:47

I hear what you’re both saying @Fatmumslim01 and @Fairfaxandflavor but for me the point of losing weight was to be able to move well again and at 50 im very concerned with maintaining or building muscle and mobility.
if I can’t maintain without MJ I’ll sacrifice PT and find a cheap group strength class instead, but I really really hope I can wean myself off (I didn’t get obese until 2020 so maybe my metabolism is not completely shot??)
