This stuff is magic. 6 months on MJ and I've lost about 2 stone, gone from BMI 31 something to 26. With barely any side effects and no great effort either, albeit I did eat a decent diet beforehand- my problem was liking good food too much!. Best money I've ever spent.

The difficult decision is what to do about maintenance. I definitely know I want to stay on something, and am fortunate enough that finances won't dictate coming off. MJ has been great, but given the situation with the US, Wegovy seems more stable. I don't mind if it's less effective and actually that would work pretty well for me once I shift this last half stone.

Puddingpiper · 15/09/2025 17:55

@soupforbrainsmy start weight didn’t actually feature on that new chart 🙈

I have never been 65-70kg and cannot begin to imagine that on my 181cm frame. My current target is 80kg which is about 7kg away at the moment which I think will take me into a size 14 so maybe not as tiny as I think.

https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-body-mass-index/ this is the one I normally use and seems to be the same as before.

nhs.uk

soupforbrains · 15/09/2025 20:07

@GiveMeWordGamesyes I think so. But for it to suddenly give me almost half a stone lower weight to be healthy was a bit concerning to me when I saw it.

@Puddingpiperno mine neither. And honestly I think I weighed 12stone when I was about 15 (and I didn’t actually become overweight until my I’d twenties). I am broad shouldered and wide hipped in my bones, add to that enormous boobs inherited from my mother’s side of the family and er… heavy thighs from a lifetime of ice skating horse riding and skiing and I already felt like a weight beginning with 11 was a bit of a stretch for me. I really very much do want to be a healthy weight, but sometimes it does feel like all the guidance about the healthy brackets aren’t really designed for a person like me. It’s all part of why I gave up trying in my late twenties (all the goals were permanently unattainable). Ah well. I will adjust my target for now to 11st5 aiming for that very top edge of the healthy framework once I get nearer to goal if it starts to look or feel like it would be too far I will have a chat with my doctor and see what they say.

seasidehunter · 16/09/2025 09:41

NSV - ordered a pair of jeans from Zara. Debated whether to get the 10 or the 12 because I know their clothes often come up small. But, took the risk with the 10. They're too big and are having to go back for the 8!

I think it has, again, confirmed in my mind that I am meant to have a BMI towards the higher end of healthy and that maybe I'm pretty much at the point of needing to stop losing now. I'm currently at BMI 24.1, with a weight of 10st 5lb. Whilst I might mentally think that it would be nice to see a 9st something on the scales, I'm not sure I really need to.

I have broad shoulders and an athletic frame with no waist. I remember being weighed by a doctor not long after starting university - I was about the weight I am now. I was also this weight when I was my very fittest working with a PT to prepare for my fastest marathon about 6 years ago. Maybe this is the weight I'm meant to be! Also, I can fit in all the lovely size 10/small clothes I had before the weight went on and if I lose much more I would run the risk of all these lovely clothes being too big!

morning all,
jab and weigh day today, jabbed 12.5mg been quite hungry this week so I’ve upped the gym sessions to compensate for eating a bit more.
sw 114.4kg
cw 86.8kg
only 0.5kg loss this week, but I’m happy with it. Also very happy with how different I look, but my brain hasn’t caught up it yet. Only 2.4 lbs off 4 and half stone loss. Mounjaro is definitely a miracle for me.

needtolose70lb · 18/09/2025 09:24

Morning! Haven’t done a weigh in on here for a little bit. So today is jab day, sticking with 10mg. I have noticed a little bit more hunger in the mornings but totally manageable. The one thing I really need to watch is the wine cravings are back a bit. Nowhere near as much as before, but I had a long few months of not even thinking about it and then a few weeks of one glass being too much. I’m now at a point where half a bottle is too much but I don’t feel like stopping much before that. Only once or twice a week max but I need to watch it.

SW: 17st 4
TW: 12st 4 (thinking 12-12s2 now but would love to see 11)
CW: 12st 4.8

As I am typing i think that means I’ve tripped in to a normal BMI!!! OMG!! Off to check 😂

Nearly… yes I am if I input my previously normal height but im now older and I swear I’m shorter so that half an inch would mean I’m tantalisingly close but not quite there. Annoying that the NHS calculator doesn’t let me do half inches or fractions of lbs.

Still incredible to be at this point. I’ve lost 28% of my total body weight which is insane.

TheBossOfMe · 18/09/2025 12:32

Hello all - really lovely to see everyone progressing so well. @seasidehunterI think you’re right about everyone having their own ideal weight and for some people that’s higher than others, especially if you do a lot of exercise and have decent muscle mass. My ideal weight is lower than a lot of people because of my Asian background - somewhere in the middle of normal BMI for my ethnic group. And I seem to have settled at 2lb below goal, which is fine, scales pop up and down a bit around that level, but haven’t gone above goal.

Culled loads of clothes last weekend which DD is now selling for me on Vinted. She negotiated taking 25% of the profits though! I was going to shop for some new clothes but realised that I really don’t need any, I have so many things because I was this size for years. My dress taste is pretty eclectic and individual because I work in a creative industry so even some really old clothes don’t look dated. According to DD anyway who is usually pretty brutal!

TheBossOfMe · 18/09/2025 14:45

Oh, and one thing that you might all be happy to hear - in maintenance I seem to be fine eating what I want providing I'm balanced on plate composition and portion sizes. And resist the urge to snack (which has definitely come back now). So we don't seem to be doomed to a life of eating diet food forever (not that I ever really ate it).

Puddingpiper · 18/09/2025 14:58

Not sure if this is of help to anyone going through a stall or where the weight just won’t move anymore. I don’t calorie unless I’m not sure where something would fit with the rest of the day eg McDonalds etc as my normal theory is as long as I prioritise protein and cook decent food which is as unprocessed as possible all will be well.

I put my measurements through a TDEE calculator to see what my maintenance calories and cutting calories would be based on my height and weight. My cutting calories now are 1450kcal per day when I first started they were 1800kcal per day which is a decent snack or light meal less - explains the stall!

my maintenance calories at target weight is around 1850.

I used calculator.net

showed me that I do need to track my calories for the next couple of weeks to see what 1450kcal looks like (I tend to be more frugal with calories during the week to be able to have a treat at the weekend - I believe the treat may be disappearing until target which is depressing)

TheBossOfMe · 18/09/2025 15:41

@Puddingpiper I had to recalculate my TDEE 3 times during the loss journey!

soupforbrains · 18/09/2025 23:48

Interestingly I think that my stall was in part that I had drifted too low on the calories rather than my TDEE coming down below my regular intake.

not today though Thats for sure we had Chinese for dinner tonight and despite sticking to the simpler, ‘cleaner’ dishes I am not only stuffed but feel slightly sick. It was a one off treat though and DS’s choice since it was our ‘last supper’ as I drive him to uni tomorrow. ❤️😭🎉😭

Beckywiththegoodnails · 19/09/2025 07:24

Hey everyone
I have only very occasionally posted on this thread but I started 8 March.

starting 204lbs
current weight 149lbs (finally saw the 140s this morning and just can’t believe it!!)
goal 140lbs which is JUST into normal BMI for me (161cm)
my main aim is to get my waist measurement to 32inches currently 34.

I’ve never gone above 3.75mg (45 clicks on a 5mg pen) as it makes me so sick and wiped out !

Does anyone else have a mental block about the final few lbs? I already feel so skinny compared to what I was but I’m only a size 12/14 from a size 18, I think mainly because of my chubby tummy

loved reading about how far everyone else has come!

Beinthepresent · 19/09/2025 09:50

Morning, I don't think I've weighed in for a few weeks. My son has been really poorly and in and out of hospital for the last few weeks. He seems to be on the mend now. I only lost 0.1 kilos this week. Last week was 1.3 kilos so I'm ok with that and trying to get back on track with eating meals instead of grabbing a sandwich at the hospital.
Sw 104.9 kilos
Cw 80.5 kilos

I must admit I'm struggling with eating too much at the moment. I need to eat more mindfully I think. I'm only putting a small amount on my plate but I am pretty much finishing it and then half an hour later or when I go to bed I feel really sick and full. I keep telling myself to stop and think but I think I'm zoning out as I'm still so tired from the stress of the hospital.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 19/09/2025 17:00

I have only gone and done it. I have lost 56lbs or 4 stone which is about 32% of my body weight.

I will be plodding on as I have changed my goal weight yet again, first goal was 9st 7lbs then changed it to 9st, I think I may change it to 8st 7lbs which seems drastic but I really want to be that weight as it will allow me to put on some weight when I stop with MJ.

I have changed so much in the last 6 months not only my appearance but also my mindset I was literally just existing and knew that if I did not do something both mentally and physically I would crumble. I now do not feel invisible and if something does not work for me I say that does not work for me. My confidence is back and I don’t question everything over and over. Life had thrown lots at me in the past 2.5 years but I can finally say that I am content with my life.

SW 13st 4lbs
CW 9st 4lbs
TW 9st may go down to 8st 7lbs
Percentage of body weight lost 31.7%
56lbs lost
25kg lost 💃💃👌🏻

@TheSpoonyNavyReader what a wonderful update and many congratulations and thanks for starting the thread and bringing us all together!

So are you planning to completely come off MJ then? How tall are you?

I haven't weighed this week, partly as haven't been to boots for an official weigh in and partly as I feel like the first 7.5 I injected I may as well injected water as I've been eating so much! Period this week aswell which isn't helping probably!

Thank you

I am 5ft 4

I plan to slowly go down the doses once I am at my goal weight of 8st 7 if I can ever get there I will evaluate once I get to 9st.
i think I will stick at 2.5 for a good couple of months maybe years as the benefits I have had have been amazing, the noise in my brain has reduced to nothing, the inflammation and swelling have had on and off for years completely gone.

@TheSpoonyNavyReader Wow, good to hear your news. And as @Fatmumslim01 says, thanks for starting and maintaining this thread, it’s been mega helpful. ❤️

Sounds likere are so many ways the MJ and weight lost have changed your life, keeping on with the 2.5mg makes sense.

I am similar height and starting weight and now at 10st, a little slower loss. Like you I’m planning to stay on a lowering dose for some time, the anti inflammatory benefits are life changing, whole body and mind improved. ❤️

Fairfaxandflavor · 19/09/2025 22:29

Weigh in this week, 8.9,so neaarrllly there,
Just 2 more llbs, and then that's it, 4 stone!
Titrating down now, then I'll be done in a few weeks unless some miracle happens and they bring the price down I'm done.
I will be sad and wish I could have stayed on it for all it's benefits but I can't really afford it end of. I think I've changed my habits enough to get by, but we'll see.
I still see fat me in the mirror and when I look at my clothes they look like someone else's, it's weird it's like my brain hasn't caught up yet.

Fatmumslim01 · 20/09/2025 10:48

Right so I'm off out tonight to meet some friends for a few drinks. Just got the dress I want to wear out of the wardrobe and it absolutely swamps me! Going to have to pop to the charity shop this afternoon in search of a belt....or a new dress! I remember wearing this dress to events when I'd lost 10 pounds and also when I'd lost 21 pounds but now I've lost 36 pounds it's definitely too big

Since I hit 2 stone loss (2 and a half stone altogether) clothes seem to be getting bigger. I keep buying things on vinted in size 20 my old size and wondering why they are too big. Maybe I need to start buying size 18 or even 16!

I also feel really odd about having to change my wardrobe it's like shedding a skin, Ive got so many clothes I wear to death that now don't fit but I don't know what to replace them with as they are my "comfort" clothes but maybe it's time to embrace the new me!

Fairfaxandflavor · 20/09/2025 11:07

@Fatmumslim01 ,enjoy your night out!,
Can you try stuff on in the charity shop?
I bet you'd be surprised at what fits, I am having trouble with my new size, and am wearing jeans 2 sizes two big, that a couple of months ago I had to squeeze into , try on something that you think won't fit, I bet it does, and wear it!

TheBossOfMe · 20/09/2025 11:29

@TheSpoonyNavyReaderBrilliant news, well done. I’ve also ended up at a lower weight than my original goal, but it seems to be a comfortable set weight that I’m maintaining well. I think I was scared of not being able to get to goal so set my goal at a “safe” weight but I think maybe all of our bodies know what the right weight is for us.

@Fatmumslim01Definitely embrace the new you!

Fatmumslim01 · 20/09/2025 12:15

Ive just been crying happy and a bit overwhelmed tears. God this while losing weight thing is a bit of a emotional rollercoaster isn't it.

So inspired by @Fairfaxandflavor I've just dug out my pre covid jeans. One pair was size 14 one pair was size 16. Pre COVID I would wear the 16 on "fat days" eg period days. I know I weighed 11-7 as COVID hit. I kept the jeans in the hope that maybe one day I would fit into them

Well, readers, that day has come! I thought I may fit into them now im 11-13 but didn't dare try them as didn't want to be disappointed. They only went and bloody fit! Size 16! I was bursting out of size 20 jeans pre mj! My legs look like sticks. Clearly my legs are not stick like I'm still obese (BMI currently 33) but by god I feel slim. I feel younger aswell! 5 years of weight gone in just 6 months to the day tomorrow. I can't believe MJ it's like a miracle. It's fixing whatever is wrong in my body (clearly a lack of GLP1 hormones!)

Still off to the charity shops this afternoon in search of belt or new dress for tonight. I wont have time to try stuff on as I'll have some of my DC with me as DH is out with some other DC we have lots of DC 😂

So, do I wear the 5 year old been in the back of the wardrobe for 5 years jeans this afternoon to soft play with my kids....or the safe bet of (a frankly too big now) tunic and leggings.

Fairfaxandflavor · 20/09/2025 12:35

@Fatmumslim01 the jeans, the jeans! Wear the jeans, I had an old pair of leggings on yesterday, and I looked fucking stupid frankly, admittedly it was only in the house but those size sixteen leggings had been my comfort zone for so long I just wore them out of habit.
I caught sight of myself in the mirror and I looked like Nora batty😂, they were all wrinkled up round the thighs and knees.
Embrace the new you, it's hard earned!

TheBossOfMe · 20/09/2025 12:47

@Fatmumslim01 Another one saying wear the jeans!
