Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I went to order from Swift Doctor who I ordered from last time, as they have a maintenance option, but they have suspended order still next week due to stock issues. I'll order another 10mg from Medexpress I guess and I have two more 10s in the fridge but after that I was going to start titrating down to eventually stop. Not sure now what to do. I'm not overly bothered about losing any more but wanted to maintain for a bit before reducing and stopping.

Well I will definitely be taking 5th dose. I have also put in an order for extra needles. Part of me suspects the fifth dose, which many use, may also be behind the price increase. Eli Lilley want to maximise profits in the short term before tablets hit the streets with their lower costs and prices.

I will have enough pens I reckon to shift the last stone and a half and to start coming down. I hope that 2.5/5mg will be my maintenance dose and that maybe pharmacies/manufacturer will allow some form of microdosing in the UK.

I realise that am fortunate as I can afford it, however I dont like the feeling that we are being ripped off. A cash cow to be milked. It will a shame if WLIs just became an option for those with sufficient disposable income leaving obesity as a problem encountered by those on lower incomes.

But in other happier news …..

guess who has just joined the 5 stone club 😇😌🤭

just off to the klaxon cupboard 😂😂😂😂😂

Yay! 🎉 5 stone klaxons sounding!!

startles birds 🦅

jay55 · 15/08/2025 13:22

@Pumpkinforeverwooooo congrats on the 5 stone.

@PinkArtim still hovering at a stone boundary too, so frustrating and absolutely feels like a barrier that needs to be smashed in.

evilharpy · 15/08/2025 14:32

Woooo @Pumpkinforever delighted to hear that klaxon for you!

I am also celebrating today - I have had to buy my favourite Tu barrel jeans in yet another size and this time it's an 8!!! It's vanity sizing at its best and I am most definitely not a genuine size 8, but it is a very nice feeling to see a single digit size on the label. I have had these jeans in every size from a 16 downwards (although the 16 was too big even when I bought them so never actually wore those), they are the best jeans ever.

DarkForces · 15/08/2025 14:44

I'm now a mere half stone from my gw although expecting to put on this week as we're on holiday. My mj is in a cool bag as typically it's a new pen and blooming hot today!

Jellybaby30 · 15/08/2025 14:49

@Pumpkinforever well done on 5stone! I had screen shot your advice on 5th dose and so thankful that this week I ordered your suggestions and they arrived. Horrified by the price rises, I have an order pending with Asda who I've been with since Nov so emailed them to ask if there's a chance I can order 2. Unlikely but worth asking. This pen is the first 12.5 I've ordered and I've 2 stone to go so I'm looking at a pricey few months til hit maintenance. If they don't OK 2 I will try to order another next week 🤞
@Mounjaropen hope newly wedded life is bliss aside from DH recovering - hope he is well on mend

MyRootinTootinBaby · 15/08/2025 14:59

Argh, I just don’t know what to do.

I did my last jab before my holiday and I was planning to see how I got on now that I’m home. I’ve still got 2st to lose, but I was going to test out going cold turkey and jump back on the jabs if I struggled.

Now, I don’t know if I should order some more pens and just go back on it to definitely lose some more, or to stick the cold turkey out and hope that I can carry on. It’s so rubbish that they’re doing this.

TeenLifeMum · 15/08/2025 17:59

Great to see the losses in this thread! I’m “maintaining” but currently on holiday in Greece with the family all inclusive. Eating fairly sensibly - fruit or eggs for breakfast and one plate at lunch and dinner - not piled high. The chocolate and banana scoops of ice cream may be my downfall (flavours remind me of German school trips in 1994 and 1995 and happy times.

cocktails only have a couple of calories don’t they? 😆🙈 last night I had a Disaronno on ice and they don’t seem to do measures. It was half a cup of liqueur! I didn’t manage it all. Also drinking water a lot. Just wish my 17yo would join in drinking - she’s terrible at staying hydrated and with my low blood pressure she ends up fainting (in Orlando the fire service are also the emergency medics so we had 11 fire men all looking after her - she was mortified).

I'd say order the jabs, you can keep them in the fridge for quite a while, and not to encourage the black market, but reading on here, if you choose not to use them, I'm sure someone will take them off your hands!

As PP said, in general, if you're wealthy, everything is possible for you, and if you aren't, you gradually get priced out of everything... Off topic but travelling this summer, I've noticed such a big difference in the appearance of wealthy and poor people around 60, e.g. some wealthy Americans looking so fit and well at an advanced age. This is yet another example why that is.

I'm lucky in that my health & beauty budget per month is rather ridiculous, but at the incoming prices, I'm not sure I'd have started my weight loss journey and finally had a summer where I was living life to the fullest, hiking up big hills without breaking a sweat, jumping into the sea in a swimsuit without even thinking about it, and dancing the night away with gorgeous men.

Being a healthy weight with no regular overheating, mood swings, out of breath issues and experiencing life like this has been totally lifechanging, and it's yet another way society taxes the poorest. We know obesity is way more of a problem in the poorest communities than Kensington & Chelsea and it's ridiculous that people IN OTHER COUNTRIES are being priced out because 'the orange one feels like everyone should pay as much as Americans'.

Why has society accepted the 'medicine for profit' notion so willingly?

I would order some pens. Then you have the option. But if you find you're doing great on your own, there's no harm in keeping the pen in your fridge for a kick start/final push.

It has been life changing. And likewise I'm not sure i would have even considered starting this journey at much higher prices. Which makes me quite sad.

Losing almost 4 stone when I tried and failed for years just blows my mind. I had hoped to be able to dip back into MJ whenever I needed an extra boost but if they do inflate the prices so much, it will be hard to justify. Of course I need to get to goal first so not sure why I'm stressing about it already. 10lbs until I get to where I think might be my goal...or maybe a bit more. Grrrrr! I hate that the bloody orange goblin is forcing this decision 🤬

Ooh! Fab NSV!

I liked my TU barrel leg jeans too! I’m now too small for the ones I had. I’m now an M&S size 16, what size do you think I’d need now?

I'm a 10 in M&S jeans and an 8 in the barrel jeans, and have consistently had to size down in them, so I would guess a 14? I think it depends on your shape though. I'm a pear with a slim waist and thunder thighs if that helps!

random223 · 16/08/2025 08:59

Hello All. Just wondering how people managed to order 3 pens from Oushk? I have managed to book an order (they were running out of delivery slots) but it would only let me check out 1 pen? Any tips? Thx

Thank you!

I’m not quite sure what shape I am these days. I have wide hips and a tummy that is very reluctantly going down… did the alternative BMI waist to height measurement and it was 0.57 - still pretty pants!

Does anyone else get annoyed with their smart scales? I weighed myself a couple of times this morning and was 11 stone 11.6 (very slight loss of 0.8lbs) and then when I connected them to my phone they suddenly changed to 11 stone 12.4! Back to where I was. I’ve noticed this happening before. It’s like when they connect to your phone they think ‘oh they can’t have lost that much since yesterday’ etc. 🤬😂

I knows it’s teeny amounts but every gram helps! 🤦‍♀️

MagnoliaTreePetals · 16/08/2025 09:32

5 Stone @Pumpkinforever ! fabulous..... Many congratulations. I think that's 70lb or 140 slabs of butter, all gone! amazing!

You've got this @jay55 , Keep going (KBO), and you will see that new number on the scales. It can be really frustrating when a target is tantalisingly close but things have stalled. (I'm 1.5 lb off 5 stone and have been for a couple of weeks.....)

Goodness me @TeenLifeMum . I also have a very low BP, but my poor DD has real issues with it and faints at the drop of a hat. Much worse when she was in her teens. we used to have to almost force water and salt down her when on holiday! She did find dextrose helpful when she felt faint, a tip we found from the PoTS UK society. 11 firemen sounds entertaining!

On the topic of price rise hikes, I am slightly biting my knuckles. DD is now late 20's, has an underlying medical condition and put on a lot of weight over the past 3 years. She is now stable medically and last month asked if I would help her finance Mounjaro. I said yes...... and now we have these price hikes! I simply can not change my mind. It seems my savings are going to dwindle to nothing, but I reckon that I can't take it with me and her health and happiness are more important than my nest egg.

Ah you sound like a lovely mum. Would it be worth your daughter considering Wegovy? As she hasn’t yet started on MJ it may be something to think about?

Hello All. Just wondering how people managed to order 3 pens from Oushk? I have managed to book an order (they were running out of delivery slots) but it would only let me check out 1 pen? Any tips? Thx

I ordered 3 after this price shit hit the fan. However yesterday Oushk reduced the number to two.

I did mine as three separate orders but commented on each order that it was part of the three package thing. You could try that as I think a few people have done that.

Oushk have said they will be getting more stock.

Lots of pharmacies doing different things. I checked Pharmulous who I have used in the past and they are not take any more MJ orders at the moment. Other pharmacies are not taking new patients who want above 10mg.

I think it will calm down but a dreadful couple of weeks for MJ users and chemists. I feel very sorry for those online pharmacies who have clearly invested in their businesses eg websites, storage, extra staff, customer support etc. It’s now clear if Wegovy will go way.

If only a British firm could have been a the forefront of weight loss drug development but hindsight is a wonderful thing

Pumpkinforever · 16/08/2025 11:14

@MagnoliaTreePetals wait until we see how the price settles come September before making any decisions about MJ. Lots of people will have ‘stocked up’. Once prices are published you could estimate how much it will actually cost over 12 months let’s say.

I agree with @Goldleafcat maybe she starts with Wegovy. See how that goes.

I think its absolutely fantastic that you have offered her this support ❤️

I managed to order 2 by just adjusting the number at checkout then I went back and added another 1 of a different dosage to my basket before fully checking out

And so it begins....I must finally be at a weight/size society deems to be 'small' because my FIL grilled me on my weight loss this morning, telling me I was looking painfully thin and was I absolutely sure I wasn't ill 🤦‍♀️ I responded by telling him that no, i wasnt ill, yes I'm absolutely sure and it was just because I used to be painfully fat!

He stopped short of telling me not to lose any more weight but I'm sure that will be next!

What a cheeky sod! I hate it how people feel they can tell people what they should be doing with their bodies. He sounds incredibly rude.

Painfully thin. Has he forgotten the 90s?

You keep on doing you 🥰

I’ve just remembered something that made me smirk. When I was at uni someone from our course (business) had done an industrial work placement at Eli Lilly for a year. He did bang on about it quite a bit. My friend and I (being incredible mature, naturally) nicknamed it Evil Eye Willy.
