Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I jumped in and ordered 3x 10mg pens from Oushk as I saw messages coming in of 12.5 and 15 going out of stock. Pretty clumsy of them to announce 3 pen order permissions as this no doubt precipitated a run. I understand if you’ve had an order acceptance your supply is secure subject to any clinical checks there may be. Recent movers to them should be OK as video calls/weigh verifications/photos are good for 6 months I think.

Thanks. I did still have to upload a new picture and send a photo of the most recent prescription despite only having ordered from them last month…

Oushk have created a bit of a rush now across suppliers. With them being out of 15 and 12.5 they will probably be out of 10s in the next day or two. They are also running out of delivery slots. Chaos really. I feel sorry for them, and other pharmacies, who have invested in the WLI model and developed websites and platforms

It’s gonna be a shit show for a while I reckon. I saw on FB a pharmacist worrying about how she was going to fulfill her nhs diabetic patients with supplies seeing as this announcement has created a run on certain doseages.

Don’t look at the main thread on this subject, there are some awful trolls on it….

Medexpress are also saying they’ll support transition to ozempic.

The only thing with ozempic is that it is not approved for long term use - a friend of mine was taken off it by a consultant and moved onto MJ.

What are the new UK List Prices of Mounjaro?
Mounjaro®▼ (tirzepatide) KwikPen® Dose Updated UK List Price 2.5mg £133 5mg £180 7.5mg £255 10mg £255 12.5mg £330 15mg £330

with those price it will drive an underground market of all sorts of dodgy MJ variants. We see enough crazy threads as it on the MN WLI.

But my 10mg pen cost £165 including postage and with a discount. So 10mg could potentially cost £90 more 😟

Dreadful news for those just starting on their journeys. I was aware that MJ was cheaper in UK than lots of other European countries but even so that is quite a hike.

I agree. We’re all different so if you need the higher doses it is now not affordable for most households.

Yep, might be the time to buy shares in Novo Nordisk who make Ozempic.

Fingers crossed!

I want to come off MJ at my own pace, with confidence I can keep the weight off and have the right lifestyle changes sorted to succeed. Not because the noisy orange one with tiny hands is barking up yet another tree.

I mean, the guy seriously doesn’t understand basic economics. If it didn’t affect the rest of the world so much it would be fairly amusing to get the popcorn in and sit back and watch it all go tits up. He makes Liz Truss look both sane and competent.

I’ve just watched the oushk live. She’s suggesting as much as £300 for 15mg and about £150 for 2.5. She is saying wegovy is a good alternative. But I wonder if that will follow suit?

Let’s hope there’s a non- Eli Lilli alternative round the corner that does the job better and is a long term solution, because they don’t deserve the business tbh.

I think our usual pharmacists will do their best to cushioned prices. I think it’s the higher doses which will see the biggest hikes.

£150 or thereabouts for 2.5mg may put some new starters off or force some towards Sheila the hairdresser who has supply contacts.

It will be interesting how maintenance will work going forward. I just feel relieved I started in Nov 24 and not more recently.

Amen to that! So glad I took the plunge!

Morning all!

I’ve been quiet for a bit, my horrible back pain reared its ugly head again about 10 days ago. The physio suspects it may be an underlying issue like a prolapsed disc. Thankfully it has since eased a lot and I’m feeling a lot more able to move and in less pain. An MRI is a possibility but will see what the work health insurance people have to say. Not overly keen on the surgery route if I can avoid it (especially after reading an interesting article about a lady who had disc issues and has managed her problems with Pilates) (apparently she felt she ruined her back with too much extreme yoga but I suspect she had an issue before that).

Not weighed myself for a bit (partly because I couldn’t face leaning over to move the scales, but also because it wasn’t the main thing on my mind). Have however been eating relatively well and continuing with the jabs. Think will brave it tomorrow to see where the land lies!

I had an annoying dream last night where I was meant to be going to an event that evening but for some stupid reason I hadn’t selected an outfit so was having to quickly try to find something to wear (in River Island!) (obv after seeing it in the news?!) and everything was too small or too long (I’m a short leg despite being 5,6ft) and all my horrible weight / being too fat to fit into anything anxiety came back. Definitely convinced I do NOT want to end up back in that situation. Still a few stone to go though!

I had a back issue before I started on this WL journey and I have to say, the Pvolve has completely transformed my mobility so I can well believe the article you read. I hope you get relief soon.

I’m still getting my head around not being panicky about what to wear to events - I’m sure your dreams will catch up with your new reality soon 🥰

Thank you! I’ve lost 5 stone 4 pounds since 1/1. In healthy weight range BMI🎉 ideally want to lose 6 more pounds to take me to 23 BMI and then titrating down. I’m definitely staying on MJ, it’s an absolute miracle death jab!!

Incredible loss since Jan. You must be over the moon! Congratulations to you!

The only thing with ozempic is that it is not approved for long term use - a friend of mine was taken off it by a consultant and moved onto MJ.

I didn’t get on with it at all. Made me super sick. So it would be a last resort for me. I’d happily go back to saxsanda if it was readily available again.

I’ve 20kg to go which could take me almost another year. Which is an eye watering cost. I can afford it, (and can’t afford not to), as long as my current work contract is renewed, but the rainy day fund won’t be growing.

I’ve not tracked what I’ve spent so far, mostly as I think it is offset by less takeaway/eating out/cocktails. I just think the news has brought it into focus, how much more I’ll need to spend.

Novjaro · 15/08/2025 01:40

It’s all a big shit show isn’t it, this potential price hike stuff? I still have about 5 stone to go I’m lucky I can afford higher prices but it’s not the point is it?

When you factor in how much we’ve collectively saved the NHS too it’s even more galling. The easiest thing seems to be to put some weight back on to push my BMI over 40 again and try to get it from the GP! So annoying. Stupid orange twat.

Thanks. I did still have to upload a new picture and send a photo of the most recent prescription despite only having ordered from them last month…

Hi @Mounjaropen - was this prompted when you did the 'complete assessment' part of the ordering process? When I placed my second order with Oushk end of July I skipped past the pages asking for photo, prescription evidence and weight verification call and was still able to place an order. Contacted Oushk directly to confirm all was clear for my approval and got the thumbs up. Have tried the same for my 3 pen order - but not made contact for confirmation yet.

Goldleafcat · 15/08/2025 08:26

I had an email from Boots last night acknowledging the price increases. They stated:
‘We are actively review our pricing and will be in touch as soon as we have more information to share with you. We always do our best to keep our Mounjaro pricing as accessible as possible. We offer other weight loss treatment options, including Wegovy, which may be a more affordable alternative for some patients. If this applies to you, we'll support your weight loss journey at every stage, whether that includes a change in treatment or otherwise.’

There was no offer to purchase additional pens at the current price (unsurprisingly really, as it’s not really good practice to over supply a prescribed medication, however I’d have taken them up on the offer 🤣).

I’m vaguely relieved I’ve been doing the bonus dose as that means I’ve at least got a couple of pens spare. I’m mulling over the wegovy alternative, but from reading about it, a lot of people felt quite sick while taking it so am not sure. If the price increase initially isn’t quite as bad as they say I might get one or two more pens, and actively start titrating down / spacing the doses (did someone say that their doctor suggested spacing every 10 days?). I’ve had to pause Pilates for a few weeks with back issues so could potentially put that money towards another pen…

I’ve not been a ‘super responder’ to the medication so do think I am doing 70% of the heavy lifting with MJ doing the other 30%.

It is now so much easier to exercise (at least when my back is behaving) so that may help overall.

Think I might be dusting off my slimming world recipe books.

Urgh!!!!

Absolutely furious with Eli Lilly for implementing the price increases with such little notice. No regard at all for patients currently taking the medication.

Goldleafcat · 15/08/2025 08:33

Ah, Oushk have now emailed too (I get their emails despite not being a full customer yet).

‘What we do know is that prices will increase significantly, and the expected range is between £160–£320 per pen, depending on the strength.’

Maybe if Boots don’t match that I’ll switch to Oushk for a couple of pens…

Will see what the wegovy situation is!

DarkForces · 15/08/2025 08:59

@Goldleafcat thanks. I think I accidentally unsubscribed from all Oushk comms after getting spammed by the community site. Hopefully we'll know more details soon

It was but I couldn’t get past it to order so sent it in. It is AI approved I reckon so it was no biggie. Oushk have said they are overwhelmed with emails and calls so sending everything in again may be the way forward…

I've just ordered 2 x 10mg and 1 x 7.5mg from Oushk as i was hoping to start tapering down in the next few months anyway. Would rather have done it at my own pace instead of being forced to commit by the orange goblin but hey ho.

Pumpkinforever · 15/08/2025 10:31

Well I will definitely be taking 5th dose. I have also put in an order for extra needles. Part of me suspects the fifth dose, which many use, may also be behind the price increase. Eli Lilley want to maximise profits in the short term before tablets hit the streets with their lower costs and prices.

I will have enough pens I reckon to shift the last stone and a half and to start coming down. I hope that 2.5/5mg will be my maintenance dose and that maybe pharmacies/manufacturer will allow some form of microdosing in the UK.

I realise that am fortunate as I can afford it, however I dont like the feeling that we are being ripped off. A cash cow to be milked. It will a shame if WLIs just became an option for those with sufficient disposable income leaving obesity as a problem encountered by those on lower incomes.

But in other happier news …..

Oceangrey · 15/08/2025 10:40

Can anyone share a link to good instructions for using this 5th dose? I've never done it before!

Pumpkinforever · 15/08/2025 11:00

@Oceangrey

Get yourself onto UKMedi and order
1ml Unifix Luer Lock Syringe
And two needles for each syringe
And antiseptic wipes.

I twist one needle on and put it into the MJ pen and extract 0.7 or whatever is left. Remove from MJ pen. Then remove needle, replace with new needle to inject myself

and I use 31g light blue meso-relle mesotherapy needles 6mm

Tiny bit miffed with this official weigh in as I'd nudged into the 14s during the week but I'll get back there next week. I had unbelievable constipation most of the week so was hoping I'd lose a couple of stone when that cleared - alas it was not meant to be!

Also miffed about the price increase news but I think, selfishly, I won't be as badly hit by some. I'm back down to 2.5 already thanks to my abdominal weirdnesses and have panic ordered a 5 this week.

Agree completely @pumpkinforever and such a dick move to alienate your private customer base when you're locked in to prices with the NHS 🙄
