Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Wonderful @Mounjaropen . Do hope you have a super wedding day.

KentishMama · 06/08/2025 18:18

So, MedExpress are doubling down and refusing to prescribe. I'll just ask my endocrinologist to prescribe privately - it's no problem, but I hate the hassle of having to go to pharmacies, queue for ages, and pick up meds there... Such idiots!

Goldleafcat · 06/08/2025 18:25

All the best for your wedding @Mounjaropen 👰‍♀️ 🌟

Have an absolutely wonderful day, enjoy your fabulous shoes and outfit, and most importantly feel amazing in your fantastic new body! 🥰

PinkArt · 06/08/2025 18:31

I'm very excited for us all to vicariously attend your wedding @Mounjaropen !
I will definitely not be wearing anything XS to it but will be sporting a suitably ostentatious hair band with a giant peony on it. Will there be a mounjaro friendly, protein heavy buffet and buckets full of magic slimming rose for us all?

Dreamqueen · 06/08/2025 19:06

@Mounjaropen wishing you a great wedding week and enjoy wearing the shoes.

Shit, am also with MedExpress and my BMI is 24. Off to look up Oushk!

MagnoliaTreePetals · 06/08/2025 19:36

That's a great idea @PinkArt , I am going to wear a flower in my hair, and open some of that magic slimming rose, and raise a glass to the Happy Couple @Mounjaropen

DD and I went through my wardrobe today as I have slimmed out of another batch of clothes, they were all the clothes that I hadn't worn for 10 years & came out of storage in May.
I have a few items that I can alter & take in myself, a few that I need a professional to do, and a couple of things that DD can put on Vinted. Some have gone back into storage for me to think about/alter next year.

I'm trying not to buy anything else right now because I know I have absolutely nothing for Autumn/Winter that will fit. That's when I am going to hit the shops!

Pumpkinforever · 06/08/2025 22:13

I know how you feel @MagnoliaTreePetals I have cleared out all of my size 20 & most of the size 18 stuff already. The rest of size 18 and 16 is warm weather stuff which will need to go sometime in September. Therefore I have purchased about 8 shirts /tops in the Weird Fish, Crewe Clothing and Sea Salt sales. items a mix of size 14 and size 12 stuff, with size 12 being on the tighter side. These will hopefully see me through to our MJ anniversary and Christmas sales. My wardrobe looks sparse compared to to DH, last year I was encroaching into his space 🤭.

I purchased two swimsuits earlier in April which was a big mistake as size 16 is a bit baggy now and one I haven’t worn at all. It will be tricky to take back the unworn one as I can’t find the receipt and I purchased it ages ago.

I haven't posted in a while but have been keeping up with everyone elses' news - you really are a marvelous lot, achieving great things! So proud to be on the journey with you all.

I've finished the drop to my second goal weight, aiming to nestle nicely in the BMI 21.5-22 range (I'm 5' 8"). Will now be nudging my dose down again a little, but aiming to stay on MJ indefinitely - I want/need its help......

My spreadsheet chart (weight in blue) - note Christmas blip, short stall in Feb, maintenance at first target for a few weeks, then final drop:

Interested to see what kind of doses you are on and how your nudging down strategy is working? Are you still losing on the lower doses or just maintaining?

I'm on 7.5 but still have about 10lb left to lose, I am happy losing it slowly, so over 8-10 weeks from now. However, I have really high supression on 7.5, I can easily get through a day without eating unless I remind myself. I actually work some calorie dense foods into my diet as snacks, so that I get to 1,000+ calories daily. I could easily get through the day on say, 4 eggs. Or 4 bananas. (That's not actually what I eat, it's just to illustrate quantities) And obviously that's not long-term sustainable as it's not enough nutrients for the body, and also takes the body into starvation mode, so if I ever start eating more, I'd probably gain.

I feel really good in myself, but I'm realistic in that the amounts I eat are a bit ED.

So I'm thinking of maybe dropping down to 5 again to have a bit more appetite and get the nutrients in, but I'd still like to keep losing, even if slowly.

I'm similar height to you with a similar goal weight, currently on BMI 23.5 or so.

I also wonder if the doses can have a different effect depending on your weight? E.g. sometimes higher weight asks for a higher dose of certain meds to have an effect, such as dose differences for adults and children. So does a high dose have more of an effect on someone who is, say 150lb vs 250lb...

Oceangrey · 06/08/2025 22:52

I'm excited for your wedding @Mounjaropen ! I bet you will have a wonderful day and will feel amazing. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it even if we don't get actual photos.

lovealongbath · 07/08/2025 07:53

morning everyone, nothing to report as I have stayed the same this week.

wishing @Mounjaropen the most amazing wedding day.

Weekly weigh in on 4.2 mg dose..
week 38
SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 14st 9.2lbs
no loss this week
total loss so far 3 stone 9lbs
I have lost 20% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 35.1

Well done to everyone on the great losses and to those that have reached maintenance stage, we can do this. 💪

jay55 · 07/08/2025 09:23

Morning on the bra front have gone from a 44E to a 36D, I’ve not been a 36 back since uni.
I’ve bought a couple of sports bras as I figure they’ll last longer if I shrink more, than underwired options. Feeling quite flat chested this morning as it’s the minimising sort.

Weight is up a little. Off for the weekend tonight, going out for a fancy meal Saturday night, but long walk planned for Friday and maybe Saturday too. There will be wine. Let’s hope for a rose miracle.

@Mounjaropenhope the wedding is marvellous and your shoes kick arse and you all have a fabulous time.

MounjNewb · 07/08/2025 09:34

Happy wedding day @Mounjaropen !

DarkForces · 07/08/2025 09:49

Have an absolutely wonderful day @Mounjaropen . It's such a special time. You and your shoes will be stunning and surrounded by love and possibly a smidge of envy that you can walk in them ❤️

On dosing - the max dose I reached was 9mg for the last 3 or 4 weeks of my initial losing phase then I edged down to minimum of 5mg as I started to maintain. I pushed up again to 7.5mg to lose a little more and now I'm where I want to stick, I will start nudging down again by 0.5mg each week I think and see how I go. I'd like to get down to 2.5mg and then stay there long term, but am happy to stay at whatever dose I find it comfortable (and not a horrendous self-control effort) maintaining at.

New chart with dose and weight plotted together....

Adding my best wishes for a great wedding day @Mounjaropen ! And hello to my fellow lovely death jabbers.

I haven't posted in a while but things are still going well, if slowly. I had a blip (weight up slightly and a plateau) but this month I have lost 1.6kg, bringing me to a total of 23.9kg down.

I am still on 10mg and have a call with my provider on Monday. Although suppression is still good and I have zero side effects, I was toying with the thought of moving up to 12.5mg, but think I will do another month on 10mg.

I asked ChatGPT about when to move up even though suppression was good but weight loss was slow (despite sticking to the correct calorie deficit) and they said:

  1. Metabolic Adaptation Is Real
  • After significant weight loss, your basal metabolic rate (BMR) drops—your body needs fewer calories to maintain its new weight.
  • The longer you're in a deficit, the more your body fights back by slowing energy expenditure, increasing hunger hormones (like ghrelin), and reducing fullness hormones (like leptin).
Mounjaro can help override some of these adaptations by modulating:
  • GLP-1 (satiety, insulin regulation)
  • GIP (energy balance, possibly affecting metabolism)
A higher dose may reinforce these hormonal effects, helping you continue losing fat without your body pushing back as hard.

Do we think that's right? Especially about the GIP effect? I'm intrigued.

evilharpy · 07/08/2025 10:51

Oh @Mounjaropen I hope today is absolutely magical for you, enjoy every moment, you are wonderful and deserve every happiness!

itsnotagameshow · 07/08/2025 11:00

Oh, another cheerful update - I had a routine blood test and my cholesterol is just above the 'normal' range with a 25% fall from the previous high reading. My liver, which always had elevated enzymes, is completely normal. I am so pleased.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 07/08/2025 11:50

Good Morning All.

Great celebrations in the Magnolia household as I now have a healthy BMI!!!
This is the Lowest weight I have been since I was aged about 12! (I am now aged 58!!)

SW 16.5 (BMI 34.8)
CW 11.6 1/2 (BMI 24.4)
Total Weight lost 4 st 12 1/2lb

I only needed to lose 1lb to get to my 24.9 BMI, but managed to lose 4 this week.
(Past 2 weeks it was 'just' 1lb each week, so Im still averaging 7lb a month. No idea why it was 4 this week compared to 1 on previous weeks, must have been the champagne I had on DH's birthday)

I think back to the start, when I went to see the weight loss specialist and I was describing just how unhappy I was to be so overweight, and especially what a failure I felt at all my attempts to lose weight, and even when I did succeed in losing I gained weight again. Gosh what a transformation!

I would like to lose a little more (get to 5 stone lost and a bit more), so new target is 11.2.

I love your graphs @MounjNewb , very professional looking.

I spoke to my weightloss Dr yesterday and we briefly discussed the plan for maintaining. His preferred strategy is to stay on the same dose but lengthen out the time between jabs. Then eventually start to drop down the doses. This way I should re-set my set point and educate my body/brain that 11 stone something is my optimum weight, not 16 stone something.

Delighted to hear your news @itsnotagameshow about your health stats.

Onwards and Downwards!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/08/2025 12:09

Happy wedding day, @Mounjaropen! Hope it’s utterly fabulous.

Well done @MagnoliaTreePetals on reaching a healthy BMI! I’m really interested in your Dr’s advice - I wonder why it’s better to stay on the same dose with longer spacing rather than drop down a dose? Surely it has the same effect in terms of the amount of MJ in your system? —and the lower doses are cheaper—

Not only this, but surely if you spread doses out you might start running into the 30 day limit on the pens (not that I've worried about this as always storing in the fridge, but I know some don't like the idea that there may be some risk with this)......

Pumpkinforever · 07/08/2025 14:35

Healthy BMI klaxon ringing loud for @MagnoliaTreePetals

🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣🔔📣💥

fantastic news. Are you starting a maintenance plan now ? I have read that some space jabs to every 10 days before dropping doses? Is that what your doc meant?

Pumpkinforever · 07/08/2025 14:39

So you only get four doses out of pen. Jab 1 is day 1 then jab 4 is day 30 type thing.

Pumpkinforever · 07/08/2025 14:53

@itsnotagameshow good news on bloods.

I am waiting for my 10mg pen to arrive. I have a stone and a half to go.

I met a former colleague who took early retirement for coffee earlier. He has lost 7 stone. He happily was chatting about MJ to us and how it has changed his life for the better. I still couldn’t say me too 🙄 just in case others find out. Ridiculous really, it must be obvious when someone loses a substantial amount that WLI the cause.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 07/08/2025 15:10

I'm losing a bit more first but yes, @Pumpkinforever, when I start maintenance (probably at the end of my next pen) the idea is to first space out the doses slowly, then drop down the doses. He said that a lot of his patients settle on 7.5mg every 2 weeks, but everyone is different, some come off it altogether, some settle at lower/higher doses.

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar He explained that in his opinion this was the best way to retrain the body/brain into accepting a new setpoint, while not gaining weight.
He seemed very happy with spacing a pen over 2 months (He is a Consultant Professor in bariatrics, so I do trust him). But our discussion about maintenance was not in depth as I would still like to lose for at least another month.
However I am already compiling a list of questions for next months conversation, and the 30 day limit will definitely be one of them.

I do agree that it might not be the cheapest way to maintain, as higher doses are more expensive, but having invested so much in this already I am very happy (and fortunately able) to go along with the experts recommendation.
I have saved £30 a month all my working life into a savings account, even as a student nurse. It was for what my mother used to call 'running away money', (ie 'just incase' money).
As we had always managed to deal with life's sudden unexpected expenses out of income or other savings etc I decided that this was now a way of now investing some of that money in ME, without affecting household expenditure. So I am fortunate that I can continue with the maintenance doses.

@Pumpkinforever I am not the worlds greatest mathematician (DH and DS do the maths in my household), but I think the 30 day rule could include the golden 5th dose if people so wish:
day 1 dose 1
day 7 dose 2
day 14 dose 3
day 21 dose 4
day 28 dose 5

Please correct me if this doesn't make sense!
