Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Good morning everyone from wedding central! Two more sleeps to go 😉

Weight steadfastly remaining at 132.0lbs but I’ll be having rose tomorrow night (wedding eve) so I might get to my round number target of 130.0lbs.

I’m off to a live Pvolve class today! It’s with one of their trainers in central London so wish me luck! I’m quite excited because I never do this sort of thing but I need to be in central London for a couple of pre wedding bits so when I got the invitation, I thought, why not? I doubt I’ll be in anything that makes it to SM given that I’m sure there’ll be a ton of beautiful people in the room, but I decided this year I’d fill my life with new things, dedicate time to myself rather than the family and only say yes to events/invitations that bring me joy. So here we are. This will be my 171st class since November 💪🏻

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Oooh this is so exciting! Yay happy wedding eve @Mounjaropen 💕💍👰‍♂

Aww thanks for the kind wishes. The class was insane! I’ve actually never completed a live class and this one was 55 minutes so talk about baptism of fire! Everyone was lovely, the Trainer was fantastic (he complimented me on my energy levels)and I even got a goodie bag!

As an NSV for today, I’ve just had a rather nice encounter with the skims lady in Selfridges who took one look at me in my workout gear and said okay so you must be a size 6 to 8? Dear lovely friends in my phone, I walked away with a pair of bum lifting shorts in size XS. Unbelievable!

Whoop whoop!!! XS! 💪🏻🥳🥳🥳

So, MedExpress are doubling down and refusing to prescribe. I'll just ask my endocrinologist to prescribe privately - it's no problem, but I hate the hassle of having to go to pharmacies, queue for ages, and pick up meds there... Such idiots!

That's so frustrating for you 😞

Interested to see what kind of doses you are on and how your nudging down strategy is working? Are you still losing on the lower doses or just maintaining?

I'm on 7.5 but still have about 10lb left to lose, I am happy losing it slowly, so over 8-10 weeks from now. However, I have really high supression on 7.5, I can easily get through a day without eating unless I remind myself. I actually work some calorie dense foods into my diet as snacks, so that I get to 1,000+ calories daily. I could easily get through the day on say, 4 eggs. Or 4 bananas. (That's not actually what I eat, it's just to illustrate quantities) And obviously that's not long-term sustainable as it's not enough nutrients for the body, and also takes the body into starvation mode, so if I ever start eating more, I'd probably gain.

I feel really good in myself, but I'm realistic in that the amounts I eat are a bit ED.

So I'm thinking of maybe dropping down to 5 again to have a bit more appetite and get the nutrients in, but I'd still like to keep losing, even if slowly.

I'm similar height to you with a similar goal weight, currently on BMI 23.5 or so.

I also wonder if the doses can have a different effect depending on your weight? E.g. sometimes higher weight asks for a higher dose of certain meds to have an effect, such as dose differences for adults and children. So does a high dose have more of an effect on someone who is, say 150lb vs 250lb...

I was wondering the same about the doses and weight too...but I dont think all medication has a dose/weight relationship....I'll do some digging and see if I can find anything out.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 07/08/2025 11:50

Good Morning All.

Great celebrations in the Magnolia household as I now have a healthy BMI!!!
This is the Lowest weight I have been since I was aged about 12! (I am now aged 58!!)

SW 16.5 (BMI 34.8)
CW 11.6 1/2 (BMI 24.4)
Total Weight lost 4 st 12 1/2lb

I only needed to lose 1lb to get to my 24.9 BMI, but managed to lose 4 this week.
(Past 2 weeks it was 'just' 1lb each week, so Im still averaging 7lb a month. No idea why it was 4 this week compared to 1 on previous weeks, must have been the champagne I had on DH's birthday)

I think back to the start, when I went to see the weight loss specialist and I was describing just how unhappy I was to be so overweight, and especially what a failure I felt at all my attempts to lose weight, and even when I did succeed in losing I gained weight again. Gosh what a transformation!

I would like to lose a little more (get to 5 stone lost and a bit more), so new target is 11.2.

I love your graphs @MounjNewb , very professional looking.

I spoke to my weightloss Dr yesterday and we briefly discussed the plan for maintaining. His preferred strategy is to stay on the same dose but lengthen out the time between jabs. Then eventually start to drop down the doses. This way I should re-set my set point and educate my body/brain that 11 stone something is my optimum weight, not 16 stone something.

Delighted to hear your news @itsnotagameshow about your health stats.

Onwards and Downwards!

Yay! Welcome to the healthy BMI club! I've noticed that suddenly a lot more people are noticing my weight loss this week since joining the healthy BMI club, so be prepared!

Pumpkinforever · 07/08/2025 16:26

MagnoliaTreePetals · 07/08/2025 15:10

I'm losing a bit more first but yes, @Pumpkinforever, when I start maintenance (probably at the end of my next pen) the idea is to first space out the doses slowly, then drop down the doses. He said that a lot of his patients settle on 7.5mg every 2 weeks, but everyone is different, some come off it altogether, some settle at lower/higher doses.

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar He explained that in his opinion this was the best way to retrain the body/brain into accepting a new setpoint, while not gaining weight.
He seemed very happy with spacing a pen over 2 months (He is a Consultant Professor in bariatrics, so I do trust him). But our discussion about maintenance was not in depth as I would still like to lose for at least another month.
However I am already compiling a list of questions for next months conversation, and the 30 day limit will definitely be one of them.

I do agree that it might not be the cheapest way to maintain, as higher doses are more expensive, but having invested so much in this already I am very happy (and fortunately able) to go along with the experts recommendation.
I have saved £30 a month all my working life into a savings account, even as a student nurse. It was for what my mother used to call 'running away money', (ie 'just incase' money).
As we had always managed to deal with life's sudden unexpected expenses out of income or other savings etc I decided that this was now a way of now investing some of that money in ME, without affecting household expenditure. So I am fortunate that I can continue with the maintenance doses.

@Pumpkinforever I am not the worlds greatest mathematician (DH and DS do the maths in my household), but I think the 30 day rule could include the golden 5th dose if people so wish:
day 1 dose 1
day 7 dose 2
day 14 dose 3
day 21 dose 4
day 28 dose 5

Please correct me if this doesn't make sense!

Yes normally if people use the 5th dose then a jab every 7 days keeps you within the 30 day limit. If you are going to go to space your jabs every 10 days say that will mean just four jabs out of the pen as a 5th jab will then take you over 30 days. Interesting that your doc is happy for a pen to last up to two months - ask him about pen storage eg must it stay in the fridge, and only jab if the liquid is clear? I guess medical advice will be evolving as more and more of us go into maintenance.

Saw this in the October thread. An alternative to BMI.

Calculating your waist to height ratio can help you understand if you're carrying too much fat around your tummy. Your waist to height ratio is a way to measure your health alongside your body mass index (BMI).
You should try to keep your waist size to less than half your height

I am just in the red. So that will help spur me on downwards.

Happiest of wedding days to you for tomorrow @Mounjaropen ! Hope you have the best day. And I hope you have at least one day off from the pvolve! 😘

SerenePeer · 07/08/2025 20:04

Ooh thanks @Pumpkinforever I'm going to measure my waist tomorrow and see where I'm at.

Oceangrey · 07/08/2025 23:21

Interesting. My BMI is still 26.8 but my waist is under half my height. I'm always a strong hourglass shape but my waist has definitely emerged again in recent months!

NSV I wore a dress today I bought over 5 years ago and have never worn before... It was bought for a work event that was cancelled in March 2020 when covid hit, and I just fit into it again.

Mounjaropen · 08/08/2025 08:44

Loving @MounjNewb graphs! Fabulous. I’ll catch up with everyone else’s news after the I do’s! Keep going you lovely lot!

And thank you everyone for the lovely wishes.
@SerenePeer has it right, the big day is today! 🥳

I arrived at the fancy hotel yesterday . They’ve set up a glam station in the room for us to get ready tomorrow with our glam squad. It was a lovely touch. STBDH and I recreated our first date and went to the same restaurant. He also gave me a beautiful bracelet to wear today as my ‘something new’ 🥰 we’re staying in the hotel until Monday. I have fancy massages booked in the lovely spa so I fully intend for us to relax.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! 👰🤵💍

Weighing in.

W40D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:15st 1lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 4st 8lb

That's the two pounds gained last week gone again, phew! My abdomen still isn't quite right but my GPs don't seem worried and it's been logged as minor and mild on the app. I'm sticking to 2.5mg for a bit. There were Jaffa Cakes this week, which there wouldn't have been on 6.25 but it's working well enough still.

💕 Happy Wedding Day @Mounjaropen !!!!! 💕
I'm very excited for you, friend on my phone. You're such a fabulous support to us all here and I hope you have the wonderful day you deserve. I'll pop some fizzy rose in the fridge to toast you later.

MagnoliaTreePetals · 08/08/2025 11:41

Well done @PinkArt for losing those 2 pounds, especially as you have had to drop down dosage. Im sorry you still aren't feeling quite right, it's reassuring that the GP isn't concerned, but still unpleasant for you.

SerenePeer · 08/08/2025 12:24

So excited for you @Mounjaropen ! Have the most fabulous day in your xs skims, gorgeous Jimmy Choos and slinky wedding dress!

@oceangrey I'm the other way around - healthy BMI but waist still needs some work. So surprise as I am was a classic apple shape! Definitely have a waist now but I need to knock a couple of inches off it to get under half my height. So I'll keep buggering on! Well done on your NSV!

Well done @pinkart Jaffa cakes didn't seem to get in your way though, so bravo!

PinkArt · 08/08/2025 12:40

Thanks @MagnoliaTreePetals and @SerenePeer . They were M&S Jaffas, so maybe that's why they didn't do any damage - a fancier calibre of Jaffa!
I've been close to the 14s for a while now so I need a Jaffa free week to hit that goal.

BlueWalker · 08/08/2025 12:49

@Mounjaropen Have a lovely, lovely wedding day! I have no rosé in the house but I will raise a pink lemonade in a wine glass to you instead.

DarkForces · 08/08/2025 14:15

To celebrate @Mounjaropen 's wedding day my scales were down to 9.8 stone. BMI 23.7. Dh and I are heading into town for a date night later so will make sure we drink something pink and toast your happiness x

MounjNewb · 08/08/2025 14:36

Picking up on the waist/height ratio - this is now my primary focus. Have dropped from 42” to 32” - 34” is half my height. I want to get this better still and, so long as it is, am happy if weigh goes back up a bit as trying to put effort into the gym to build muscle mass up.

evilharpy · 08/08/2025 15:24

Random pondering - you know how people shrink as they get older - does your BMI change if your height reduces? My mum is in her 80s and used to be 5' 1.5" (the 0.5" was very important apparently) but is probably now under 5'. So which height does she need to use for her BMI target?

Hypothetical as she is a tiny little thing and has no spare pounds to lose, but for some reason I just started wondering!

Waist to height ratio is interesting @Pumpkinforever mine is 0.44 (5' 6" and 29" waist, BMI is 23.8). I think even at about a stone overweight my waist was a bit less than half my height. Good thing there isn't an arse to height ratio though, I'd fail that miserably.

RonMJ · 08/08/2025 17:02

@evilharpy a friend in her 80s was told to lose weight by her GP and was most put out that they calculated her BMI using her current (couple of inches lower) height. But the other side of the equation is that there are scientific papers which now say that BMI over 25 is better for people over 65 years old, as it reduces frailty /risk of falls as their muscle mass is higher. There are also smart BMI calculators that take into account the subject’s age.
https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/sarcopenia-bmi-older-adults#:~:text=For%20example%2C%20while%20BMI%20charts,obesity%20bucket%2C%E2%80%9D%20she%20says.

Pumpkinforever · 08/08/2025 17:31

I still have another stone and a half to fall into the healthy BMI category and hopefully my waist will shrink a bit during that process.

but like you @evilharpy just as well in not height to arse 😂. Though the arse has shrank quite a bit whilst being on MJ 😂

MounjNewb · 08/08/2025 18:13

On dosing - the max dose I reached was 9mg for the last 3 or 4 weeks of my initial losing phase then I edged down to minimum of 5mg as I started to maintain. I pushed up again to 7.5mg to lose a little more and now I'm where I want to stick, I will start nudging down again by 0.5mg each week I think and see how I go. I'd like to get down to 2.5mg and then stay there long term, but am happy to stay at whatever dose I find it comfortable (and not a horrendous self-control effort) maintaining at.

New chart with dose and weight plotted together....

Thank you very much, that is helpful!

What do you use for these nifty charts? I don't assume they are bespoke made by you, or are they?

Do you still inject every 7 days, or have you also tried longer gaps between injections?
