Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I lost my desire to focus on weight loss/calorie count and mj needed me to calorie count as I reached around target. I’ve ended up reducing to 5mg maintenance every 1.5 weeks. Next order they wanted more photos and technically I can still get it as I’m not skinny, skinny but I’ve sat at 10st 4 for the last few months. I think I’m going to come off mj and go it alone with sensible portions.

well done everyone on the great losses.

I feel like I have swapped food noise for fashion noise! @Mounjaropen IYKYK, Sunday Times Style!

Just can't stop browsing for cute outfits that would look great on me, and unfortunately when they arrive, inevitably, they do. Does Vinted do a loyalty card? 😁

It's weird when everything you try on fits like a glove and you've got to tell yourself that it's you that's making the outfit fall just right, not the other way around, and put it back on the rack.

In other news, I've been off meds for a week as my tummy's been poorly, and not noticed any increase in appetite. The funny thing is I didn't have a huge amount of food noise or eat loads prior to MJ, e.g. I could easily go without having dinner for weeks without even thinking about it. I just didn't lose weight despite eating a good diet. The only difference I have noticed during the week without MJ has been progressively higher chocolate cravings, and giving into them. So perhaps it's the chocolate that's my downfall and the main thing to look out for.

On MJ, the only foods I really desire are fresh fruit and veg, and protein rich snacks, and my moods are very very consistent on the meds, I am always perky/ energetic/ switched on, so there's no mood-driven comfort eating.

I'm definitely making these - how many mini quiches does the recipe make?

Makes about 5 or 6 usually.

I saw that article 😂

I’ve been particularly ravenous this weekend. No idea why I had a bag of French fry crisps which I didn’t feel like a particularly derived any pleasure from Tbh, so I didn’t do what I would’ve done pre-MJ and opened a second bag. I guess that’s progress! I did drink wine this weekend, which I know always encourages me to make poor food choices so I know that will be my downfall when I come off MJ. at the moment, to save STBDH from himself I’m only keeping dark chocolate in the house, but I know I definitely would have eaten a lot of of it had it been available! No rhyme or reason as to why this snack attack has occurred… other than wine, I guess! I do agree with you that when I’m on MJ, my body craves all of the nutritious foods, so this did take me by surprise.

Hope your tummy has recovered?

I think that sounds like a sensible approach. I feel like MJ has rebalanced my hormones in someway that I don’t fully understand, so I think realistically I’m going to need some form of micro dosing for quite some time. STBDH has a friend whose partner is a competitive bodybuilder and online fitness influencer (she’s a similar age and has an amazing physique) and I think I’m going to chat with her post wedding about her nutritional intake to see what she eats so that I achieve my post goal weight goal to increase my muscle mass and ensure that my body is satiated.

That's an interesting point, how do you mean life has been easier to navigate?

I've not lost as much as many people on here, around 33lb which is about 18% of previous bodyweight.

I feel much better and look better and can cross my legs more easily but I haven't noticed anything different in how people treat me, or other aspects of life.

Have others found differences? What are they?

33 3LBS off is an amazing achievement!

I haven’t really paid much attention to the percentage of my original weight that I’ve lost, but having just checked on the Shotsy app I am at 32%.… However, I don’t think it’s that alone that is causing a different general reaction from strangers.I feel so much happier- Because I’m wearing something I like/I’m not a sweaty mess./therefore I smile more so people naturally smile back.. I think also because I’m wearing actual clothes rather than athleisure all of the time I am wearing more make-up than pre-MJ which undoubtedly does improve my general appearance 😂 it’s also fair to say I have had more male attention, (men offering me their seat on the tube/starting random conversations) but also compliments from women about what I’m wearing even when it is good old ZARA pieces. I think it’s small changes like this which has made me determined to keep the weight off this time. I hope I don’t come across as big headed, I grew up with a mother who drummed into me that I was not the attractive child., And who would criticise pretty much everything I ever wore, i’ve always tried to overcome this by dressing confidently, but there’s always that nagging doubt at the back of my brain left behind by some particularly cutting comments…

I’ve lost a similar amount to you @Oceangrey. I’ve lost 35lbs and 24% of my body weight. I think the biggest change has been how I see myself. I’m still shocked when I see a photo. A friend posted a candid snap of us at a local beer garden. I honestly had to double take that the slim woman with shoulder/chest bones was me. I also feel a bit mean how I feel about my old self when memories pop up on my phone.

I don’t know if people treat me any differently, but I loved going to a wedding of an old friend knowing I was going to meet old school pals and not be fat.

my biggest change has been fitness. My VO2 (Apple Watch measured) has gone from 29.8 in November to 36.2 today.

oh I’m off now to find out how I can measure my VO2 max too! That’s a fab achievement!

I agree about meeting up with old school friends, etc I’ve also found that I’m accepting more invitations than I would’ve done previously.. i’m also looking back at old photos thinking how did I not see that?

Little NSV today, was out for coffee and saw The White company had a sale on, and I like their shower gel so went to look. Saw the clothes rail and realised that they sell clothes that fit me now, and I can have a browse and not look delusional.
As it was, the clothes were still waaaay too expensive for what they are and they only had big sizes left! So I left feeling smug and skinnier.

I haven’t been to the white company for clothes for years… But this year I did dig out my 20+ year-old white company linen white trousers and white shirt and wore them on holiday which felt like a win… enjoy your well deserved feeling of smugness!

On Friday I had a ‘fuck it’ half hour and uploaded 6 items onto Vinted. The last of my size 20 stuff from Boden, White Stuff and SeaSalt. Well tickle me with a feather duster as they have all sold. So I will have to walk to post them tomorrow. I may have put them on too cheap but something is better than nothing.

Oh, we’ve spurred me on to sort this out post wedding! How fantastic!

Feeling a bit stuck at the moment so have decided to go up to 8.75mg for hopefully last pen before maintenance.

Am doing OK with exercise but less well with water and cooking nutritious meals. The mini-quiche recipe looks nice.

Hope others are having a better week.

Have you tried asking ChatGPT to create a meal plan for you for the week? It might suggest new recipes that you wouldn’t have thought of?

Morning death jabbers! Can someone fetch the healthy BMI klaxon from the shelf please because I've finally done it! 🔔 BMI of 24.9 this morning despite an unexpected peri-menopause period! Absolutely delighted to finally be in the healthy range!

Joining in the photo chat and i was genuinely shocked at a photo taken just last night - Sunday night is becoming sauna and sea swim night and the sauna owner offered to take a photo of my friend and I. For the first time ever, I was the skinnier of the 2 of us and here's another first: i was in a swimming cossie I've not worn in over 5 years and I didn't hate the photo. Im actually quite chuffed at how slim I look! Woo hoo 💪🏻 Thank you MJ. Absolute life changer.

Hurray, well done you! And excellent news about the swimsuit and liking the photo - liking photos of yourself is one of the biggest changes. Turns out I’m not so dreadfully unphotogenic as I thought now I’m 3 stone down.

TeenLifeMum · 04/08/2025 08:45

Meant to say, I went to Ask Italia with friends. I chose completely different food to normal - a chicken dish with pearl barley. Oh my goodness, it was delicious! I’m also looking forward to going on our all inclusive holiday. I’m not scared I’ll eat everything in sight. I am looking forward to choosing the meals I’ll enjoy. Prepped fruit or eggs for breakfast each day. The desire for pastries is really low. I’ve shifted what I enjoy.

Brilliant news @SerenePeergo you.

I’m going to try an evening jab this week thanks to the thread. I have tried once before but got back into a routine of mornings. Just have to hope I don’t forget.

I think I had a peri phantom period week, no sign of it but i was hungry and didn’t sleep well. This week despite not having jabbed yet I can’t finish my lunch and food noise has totally gone. Bloody hormones.

I'm not even at my Lowest adult weight (I was around 8.5 stones at 18) I am currently 9 st 6 and I have people saying 'don't loose too much' like I'm Katie flipping Price. Absolutely no one questioned my weight at 18 and I'm bloody delighted to be at this weight, because I never thought it would happen.
