Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Where are you going? I'm always looking for niiiiiiice resorts to try...

It's one of the Neilson and Mark Warner type places - lots of sports!

jay55 · 20/07/2025 13:56

Oh yay on the wetsuit, that’s a great NSV and the instructor passing a medium, as that is how they saw you with fresh eyes is great too.

Mounjaropen · 21/07/2025 09:45

Happy Monday everyone!

It’s been quite a boozy weekend for me! Why are you in this morning? Is 134.4 LBS so I’ll take that after a weekend full of wine and most of a box of thornton Continental chocolates which I both donated and then won back in a raffle😂

Hope everyone else had a fab weekend!

@KentishMama given we have been taking MJ since November hopefully there is enough in our system. 💪🏻

one of the things I will do next year is to get into a wetsuit - my DH and DD will shriek with delight at that. I have been too embarrassed and far too large for years to fight into a wet suit.

Edited

Oh, I love this goal! 💪💪💪

Well I am now actually following the thread title and packing smaller sizes clothes for a holiday!

We're going to a resort with lots of sports included so the kids can do sailing and stuff, but although I plan to do a lot of lying down and reading I'm also going to join the pilates and whatever else is on offer for adults. But probably not any properly intense stuff because I'm not up for it in the heat.

Interesting Jennifer Aniston conversation. She's in great shape but I've never aspired to look like her. Probably because have a different body type.

My body is more like Kat Dennings or Christina Hendricks, very curvy, strong hourglass. So those are probably the celebrities I'd look at.

Have a fab holiday!

I think I was once more of a Christina Hendricks shape, but since MJ I have the dreaded Ozempic arse 😢

Do it, do it!

I still asked for a large size wetsuit because I was worried about getting into it, and it was super big on me. The instructor originally handed me a medium, and he was right!

Happy to announce that we survived. It was amazing!

That’s a great NSV!

I’m still finding it tricky not reaching for size L in everything. My wedding dress is an S/M which I was reluctant to try on but the shop assistant was insistent It would be the right size… And it was!

Accepting a new size is quite a mental challenge isn’t it? Yesterday I decided that it was time to clear through my wardrobe and drawers. So now I have to stay slim as all my bigger clothes are being dispatched to charity shops or sold on Vinted. I found myself really sad to say goodbye to some old faves (sadly nothing fancy or designer - just comforting fits). I also threw away a mountain of old baggy knickers!!

I’m hoping this will help with the nothing to wear feeling as what I do have should now fit. And I need to try not to replace it all with a Vinted spree. Funnily my Vinted recommendations now all seem to be sweaty betty leggings 😂

It’s been exactly a month today since my last jab. Shotsy estimates I have 0.28mg left in my system. My weight is exactly the same today as it was a month ago, but there have been some fluctuations. BMI hovering around 23. The biggest challenge for me is definitely trying to manage my increased hunger/food noise. I’m upping my steps to 15k a day, set MFP to weight loss but allowing myself to eat exercise calories. This seems to be keeping me at maintenance.

jay55 · 21/07/2025 15:47

@Cantbesurea month of staying the same while mj exits your system is absolutely brilliant!

Took delivery of some Crew Clothing stuff this morning, all in the big reduction part of their sale and all size 14. So I sorted out the remaining size 18 stuff to go to the charity shop.

Popped into the local nice charity shop and thought ooh there’s a nice top and realised it used to be mine 😂

I am hoping to be size 12 before our November Mounjaro anniversary so don’t want to buy lots at the moment

Happy Monday death jabbers! My goodness you've all been busy with the milestone klaxons! I love catching up on all the NSVs and losses. Well done you bunch of skinny Minnie's!

And I now want an 80s salad with salad cream. But I'll pass on my cottage cheese 🤢 My mum and I lived on it for a while when we both went to weight watchers together 🤦‍♀️

As for accepting our new sizes, I was brutally humbled by Zara at the weekend! A little skort had caught my eye, so I popped into a store while DH and I were away for the weekend. I should have paid attention to the warning from the universe....while searching for a medium in the skort, I noticed that they all looked the same size despite there being an xs, s, and m on the table. Sure enough when I lined them all up, they were all EXACTLY the same size! Did the staff care? No. Did I pay attention to this screaming red flag? No. Did I try on the medium assuming it would fit me? Yes. Did the Zara deities laugh at my assumption and serve me a serious humbling in the changing room? Also yes. 🤦‍♀️

So the moral of the story is: Never trust a Zara size label and never point it out to a member of staff or they will curse you and the changing room mirror!

MagnoliaTreePetals · 21/07/2025 21:21

Hello Everyone, I am back after a wonderful 2 weeks in Italy.

I have had a happy time reading all your posts from the past 2 weeks. I am So, So impressed with all the klaxons going off! Huge congratulations to those who have reached multi-stone loss milestones, achieved a healthy BMI, and/or got into slender dress sizes.
I know some have had difficulties and struggles, I do hope you are feeling a bit better and happier.

I managed to stick to my 3 golden rules while away: swim lengths for 20 minutes every day, no bread and nothing with sugar in.
I had a fabulous time, drank a few glasses of wine every lunch time and every evening and yes, I wore the bikini!!!
What an amazing feeling it was to be 4 stone lighter than our last holiday. I kept getting glimpses of myself in windows and mirrors, and doing a double take every time. I looked 'normal'!
Travelling with the MJ pen was simple and straight forward.

I have not weighed in yet but will weigh in as usual on Thursday morning, hopefully having a few 'angelic' days before then to offset some of the wine, delicious olive oil and cheeses.

Onwards and Downwards......

Hmmm I did wonder what other people's wardrobe strategy was!

So I am smaller than I've ever been as an adult. Luckily I left some clothes from when I was 18-19 in a suitcase, they look great and fit me, so I have more choice of small size clothing and haven't had to buy much.

Someone asked me where my dress was from the other day and I went 'oh I think I bought this when I was 18, hard to remember now'. Not gonna lie, felt quite smug saying it!

I'm keeping some bigger clothes, I think, maybe just the old faves/ memories. I'm also looking to have some of my best clothes taken in to my current size, once my body has decided what it will be.

Has anyone else considered having some clothes tailored?

I'm also finding it so hard to not try clothes on and feel like I look great in everything... So have to tell myself 'yes of course you look fab, but it's you, not the outfit, unless it's 10/10, it's not coming home with you!' So hard to resist buying, whereas I used to find it stressful and avoid it.

@SerenePeer even ChatGPT has snarky things to say about Zara sizing! I've not shopped there in ages, but remember one particular occassion as a teen where I was both size 18 and and size 8 during the same shopping trip, it would have been for jeans/bottoms as that's what they get wrong more than anything else!

Speaking of jeans, does anyone have any good recommendations of form-fitting flattering smart jeans?

Oceangrey · 22/07/2025 06:05

I would love to get clothes tailored and sometimes I do that, but the cost is huge for anything complex so it's only for very very special clothes.
I can take dresses in at the waist myself, I just hand sew them, but more than one dress size and I think you need a professional or at least someone with a sewing machine and experience!

That’s a shame, I seem to live in an area where there are quite a few seamstresses who operate a side hustle which is quite reasonably priced. Perhaps we should all take up dressmaking so that we can adapt old favourites as we embrace our new shapes!

I think jeans are hugely personal so it’s quite tricky to recommend. Currently, I’m about to put some vintage Paige on Vinted/eBay because they are too big but seem to be a style that you can’t buy anymore. I’ve been stopped a couple of times when I was wearing them back in April to ask where I got them from, but they fit totally differently to how they fitted my form circa 2005! I’m actually considering purchasing those padded bum shorts 😂

and totally agree on the only buying it if it’s a knockout rather than ‘oh my God, I can fit into it!’

I’m so happy reading your post! I can feel the joy emanating from it🥰

I don’t know if anyone saw Joe wicks’ recent post about how not to go mad on holiday in an AI. I thought he made some really decent points in the post, but he got absolutely Lampooned on SM for suggesting all of the tips we’ve all shared on here – a little bit of exercise to offset all the wine, choosing carefully from the breakfast buffet etc. For me, this is my life from now on, I’ve had all of the waffles/crepes/pastries I’m ever gonna need from her breakfast buffet, and the fact is after one mouthful you’ve satisfied your urge to have what it was that attracted you in the first place… So something protein based with actual fruit is better for me. Truthfully, I’m just grateful someone else is making it for me!

😂 ZARA sizing is wild! Hope you’ve recovered from the ordeal😉

Wow! A month without any weight fluctuating is extremely impressive 🙌

From spanx to a completely different sort of shape wear - now there a NSV! Chicken fillets down your knickers maybe? 😆

jay55 · 22/07/2025 12:26

I’ve never shopped at Zara, I was already fat when they joined the high street. I’m very glad for the warning, I’ll carry on avoiding them for a while so as to not be traumatised.

My weight is still up from my low, but lower than the weekend. I’m blaming a pot noodle I had last week, I do think with slow digestion salty things linger longer.
Or that’s my excuse 😂😂

Ive found a box of clothes that didn’t quite fit in December, all fits now, except a sports bra which is way tooo big. So I now have joggers that don’t fall down, woohoo.

Try Skims! I know it’s a tacky Kardashian line but the product is actually really good.

I got some shape wear to wear under a strapless dress and it doesn’t have padding, but pulls your bum into this really nice curvy shape somehow, without adding size.

They also come in lots of variations in terms of the design, so wearable with different types of clothing.

Wore it to a party and an attractive much younger guy became rather fixated with my backside 😇 Gym workouts are also paying off now though, so it looks a little less saggy, but the shapewear makes it look genuinely peachy

How do you find Skims for sizing?

I’m a size 10 now and wear S, it fits me nicely. Bear in mind that sizing is American so can look confusing, you need to scrutinise the size chart for measurements. They have a lot of offer of sizes, I’m not sure how far they go but certainly at least 24.

The actual garment looks teeny tiny when it arrives. But at least for me it doesn’t dig in anywhere etc, it’s weirdly designed to hug and smooth curves, and stays in place.

I expected it to smooth me out everywhere as the idea was to make a thin material fall nicely over it. I did not expect it to give me extra curve though! Was strange seeing my ass look curvier without any actual increase in size, that effect certainly didn’t come advertised!

LindtCurves · 22/07/2025 21:56

I’ve done my first ever golden dose this week?! This being like pen 7!! Used to think it’s too much faff but actually started twisting the pen and it slided out quite smoothly, not much force needed.

oh why oh why did I not try this properly before!

Pumpkinforever · 22/07/2025 22:49

I have only been doing the 5th dose since February @LindtCurves I view it as a ‘free’ jab every 5 weeks or a ‘free’ pen once in a while
