Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Put on a lb this week but I suspect it was mid week drinking. I've discovered there's a line up between having a drink (or 5) in the week and bloating. I generally have a rule of no booze on a school night but was led astray on weds. Definitely not my fault 😂 ! Once I'm back on the straight and narrow I have a mini whoosh so it evens out but one to watch.

Well it’s only one week… if it helps, I’ve lost precisely 0.2lbs this week. And I’ve done all of the exercise …Even copious amounts of rose last night did not have the desired effect 😩

Next week must be our week I reckon 🤞

I’ve been using the nioxin anti hair loss serum and the growth serum for a few months now but haven’t noticed a difference… but it could be slowing things down? I have also started taking oral minoxidil from Hair & Me - has been less than a month so far. Unfortunately with minoxidil there is meant to be a ‘dread shed’ phase before it gets better, but I’ve not actually noticed it being any worse (same level of daily hair loss!). Haven’t grown a beard yet either which is promising 🧔‍♀️.

My weight losses have slowed too, and I’m making an effort to eat more protein, so it’s not been extreme famine, therefore it is frustrating… but I think my hair loss may be due to a combination of factors (peri which ramped up this year, stressful time in January, and of course, weight loss).

I think we’re all slowing as our bodies try and adapt for the final furlong. Make sure you are actually eating enough calories though as well as protein to prevent your body going into starvation mode.

Keep going 💪

Congrats @lovealongbath and @Mounjaropen on losing more weight.

I got my steps in again today. That’s Monday to Thursday and determined to get back to it at least 5 times a week. I will get out early tomorrow before it heats up.

Got a couple of BBQs to attend tomorrow and Sunday. I will avoid the buns and focus on the protein, green salad and whatever veg. 💪🏻

so let’s ring the keep buggering on into the weekend klaxon 🔔📣🔔📣🔔 because we can all do it.

Well done! Hope the BBQ’s are fun 🥰

2nd GW 15st 4lbs

Two pounds off this week. I'm not going to jab today as I still have weird abdominal pain/ aches. I haven't been to the doctors yet as I've been hoping it'll sort itself out and if I'm brutally honest with myself didn't want to have anything on my record that stops me being able to use mounjaro in future. Going to woman up and (try to, because there are also literally no slots for 4 months on the app) book something though.

congratulations on the loss this week 👏. Sorry to hear you are still not feeling well though. It may be a complete coincidence that the pains have started as you’ve lost weight..so try not to let Dr Google worry you before you’ve seen a doctor. 💐

@PinkArtwell done on the 2lbs, sorry you’re still not feeling good. Hope it can all be sorted out and you can carry on.

I’ve been sat here feeling a bit grumpy and hungry, realised it’s almost lunch time and I’ve only had 200cals today and so it is an understandable hunger and fine to have a snack.

I don’t know if I’ll ever entirely trust listening to my body.

I felt hangry for the first time in ages yesterday. So I treated myself to an alfresco salad after my dress fitting. A good old fashioned cafe salad with ham, cheese and egg. Salad cream on the side. You know the sort 😂

Thanks @jay55 and @Pumpkinforever . I'm on 6.25. I was on 5 until about March, because it was working well and decided not to go up a full dose because the low doses had been working well for me. So whatever is going on isn't a reaction to being on a super high dose.
I do have a history of bad luck with side effects though. My IBS was triggered by antibiotics, my first blood clots we assumed were from the pill. So I've had a nagging feeling throughout that I'd have one of the Daily Mail headlines type reactions to Mounjaro.
I managed to get a doctors appointment for Tuesday though and have bought some gaviscon today just on case it's something more indigestion related.

Gosh that is rotten luck. Hope you get some answers on Tuesday.

Ha absolutely! My mum used to make these sorts of salads all the time, I find it comforting when I make it now! They are fantastic in the summer.

DarkForces · 19/07/2025 08:25

wtf. I've lost 2lb in 24 hours. I had too much to drink on weds (I repeat, nothing to do with me. My work colleagues led me astray), weighed in yesterday and had put on a lb over the week but this morning I've lost it and a lb more in 24 hrs. Can bloating from drinking really have that impact? Mind blown!

I was chatting with my friend the other day about 1970’s/1980’s ‘Mum’s made salad for dinner’ salads.

on your plate:
Limp Lettuce (whole leaves, none of this chopping business nor new-fangled iceberg lettuce 😂)
1 Large tomato, halved
3radishes. Whole.
One slice of ham
one boiled egg if she remembered to do some (generally never)
possibly a slice of cheese from the impossibly large block of the blandest cheddar ever in the fridge (she didn’t own a grater because she didn’t believe in them)

On the table
A jar of pickled beetroot
A jar of pickled onions (not the small silverskin ones, it wasn’t a party 😂)
salad cream
Branston pickle
Slices of bread and butter (no French stick because it wasn’t a party 😂)

My mum was a terrible cook but even she couldn’t balls up a salad.

Morning all! After being away for a week with some indulgences I’m pleased to have actually lost 0.2lbs. Was expecting a gain tbh, as the wine was plentiful and we did have some nice food. I was careful to try to offset it a bit.

Also made a bit of a boo-boo when getting out my bonus dose… was a little slapdash thinking things through as this is my last 12.5mg pen before moving to 15mg so thought any extra above 0.6ml will be useful as a bridging dose. Managed to get 0.8ml out of the 12.5mg pen… and instead of recalculating what that would be, injected straightaway then did the calculation. 16.6mg! Argh! Anyway I was fine / ok and survived but won’t be that foolish again! 🤦‍♀️

Zempy · 19/07/2025 08:47

@Mounjaropen I just popped over from the Jan starters thread to ask this terribly important question…

Did you not have a few crisps with that 1970s mum salad? Really took me back!

100%! Very similar here. My DH mum does a very similar one too, especially with the radish. They actually used to grow radish and spring onions in the garden and they were delightful.

OMG. Spring onions! I’d forgotten their very important existence on the plate. One each. While obviously. Only the roots cut off. The tops were left exactly as they were pulled from the ground.

And a stick of celery. Obvs. The special woody kind that left threads in your teeth for days 😂

lol. Welcome! Hope your WL journey is going well!

No, I’m afraid crisps were not included in this rather bleak affair. That would be considered ‘exotic’ and ‘a bit unnecessary’. A bit like a BBC2 ‘play for today’. I was truly grateful that it was the only meal that did not feature a boiled potato (unless it was jersey royal season). Not that my Irish mother served potatoes with everything of course 😂 She made Ria from Butterfiles seem like a MasterChef contender tbf.

Thank God for School cookery lessons and Delia Smith on the telly. Funnily enough, I am actually a good cook myself. My Mother used to take credit for that somehow 😂

Tinned potatoes definitely have a place. They have a fab texture. I wonder if they'd be nice squished a bit then fried in a bit of olive oil.
Right. Back to the joys of lettuce brain!

Love the 80s salad talk. I’m sure ours would have had quiche. Or a pork pie. 😂

sorry to hear you aren’t feeling good @PinkArt I would go and talk to your gp. I went for bloods yesterday and will go back for a review this week. Omeprazole has helped mine but I’d like to understand what causes it. I sent oushk a message on their new website asking for drs advice but not had a response.

in good news after weeks of my weight creeping up I’m half a pound down today. I have felt it get slightly easier towards the end of this week. I’ve changed MFP back to weight loss but I’m being more flexible on eating back my exercise calories which gives me a bit more scope to deal with hunger. It’s 4 weeks now since my last jab. Shotsy estimates I have 0.38mg left in my system! Next weekend it will all have gone.
