Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Pumpkinforeverbrilliant stuff on the weight loss and the clear out.

Scales are up a little this morning. Meh.
I’m wearing trousers to the office for the first time in decades. The walk in was a little cooler this morning, so I think I was walking more briskly. I love that I don’t stop to pant multiple times on the walk any more.

It's amazing isn't it? I mean the sheer amount of anti-perspirant I am Saving is astounding. And the reduced need to rewash clothes worn once but aren't dirty nor sweaty. Any one else finding that too?

Does anyone trying anti-hair loss solutions feel like they’ve found something that works? I’m using Nioxin shampoo/conditioner/scalp treatment but I can’t see any difference at all. Admittedly I’ve only had it for about 3 weeks! I do know it says it takes 3 months but I’m fed up with the hair loss and I just want to know if it’s likely to work. I’ve been stalled weight-wise for about 6 weeks too so it’s not like I’m losing quickly anymore (or at all, at present). I eat a lot of protein so I’m not worried about my protein levels.

You won’t see a difference after 3 weeks, unfortunately it does take time.

My front area is particularly thin, but thankfully there is a lot of new growth.
I am wearing a chunky hair band to help disguise my scalp.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/07/2025 21:30

I was wondering about scarves. I can see my scalp through my hair if there’s an overhead light, aaargh! I don’t think I really have any baby hair coming either - or at least I can’t spot any. Are you using Nioxin or something different, @lovealongbath?

lovealongbath · 16/07/2025 21:40

I am using Nioxin. Started in December, so I’m 7 months in.

After 7 months, I would expect hair growth, but I do believe the Nioxin is helping, the new hair is over an inch long

morning everyone,

Weekly weigh in on 4.1mg dose..
week 34

SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 14st 10.9lbs
2lb loss this week
total loss so far 3 stone 7.4lbs
I have lost 19% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 35.4
Step count is considerably down this week to 68,587 😩

Well done to everyone on the great losses and to those that have reached maintenance stage, we can do this. 💪

Mounjaropen · 17/07/2025 08:18

Updates from me: 134.0 lbs this morning..1lb to go to 2nd goal weight. 💪🏻 now considering a bit more to see what happens with my loose skin…

Tennis lesson today plus a long Pvolve class (my total classes completed now is 155 before that one) I May also do a treadmill walk as STBDH is away. Fresh tuna salad for lunch.. my fave and I get to eat both steaks as himself is away for the night.

Wedding update: I’ve rented a cute Sophia Webster wedding clutch bag as my ‘something borrowed’ I couldn’t justify in any world £450 on a bag that reads ‘wifey for Lifey’ because let’s face it, I’m not popping into Tesco with that any time soon 😂 Also turns out the photographer I was recommended by the place we are having a do at after the ceremony is a bit of a rock star photographer so the photos should be good.. or at least interesting..🤣

Keep buggering on everyone!

I’ve been using the nioxin anti hair loss serum and the growth serum for a few months now but haven’t noticed a difference… but it could be slowing things down? I have also started taking oral minoxidil from Hair & Me - has been less than a month so far. Unfortunately with minoxidil there is meant to be a ‘dread shed’ phase before it gets better, but I’ve not actually noticed it being any worse (same level of daily hair loss!). Haven’t grown a beard yet either which is promising 🧔‍♀️.

My weight losses have slowed too, and I’m making an effort to eat more protein, so it’s not been extreme famine, therefore it is frustrating… but I think my hair loss may be due to a combination of factors (peri which ramped up this year, stressful time in January, and of course, weight loss).

Goldleafcat · 17/07/2025 15:08

Oh and I keep getting adverts for The Cornish Seaweed Bath Company who do shampoos and treatments to help with hair loss, some of the reviews look promising, but I’m not quite convinced (on their website they seem to have lots of ‘offers’ to encourage you to buy various bits, which in some ways is a bit of a red flag?). I like the idea of it though so it’s been added to the consideration pile.

Invisablepanic · 17/07/2025 16:57

For anyone using Nioxin, I follow a derm/hair lady and she recommends combining it with microneedling.

I got the colour wow hair serum, and it is either that or the collagen which I started at a similar time, but my hair is way better.

Pumpkinforever · 17/07/2025 21:05

Congrats @lovealongbath and @Mounjaropen on losing more weight.

I got my steps in again today. That’s Monday to Thursday and determined to get back to it at least 5 times a week. I will get out early tomorrow before it heats up.

Got a couple of BBQs to attend tomorrow and Sunday. I will avoid the buns and focus on the protein, green salad and whatever veg. 💪🏻

so let’s ring the keep buggering on into the weekend klaxon 🔔📣🔔📣🔔 because we can all do it.

PinkArt · 18/07/2025 10:29

Weighing in.

W37D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:15st 1lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
3rd GW: 13st 9lbs
TL: 4st 8lb

Two pounds off this week. I'm not going to jab today as I still have weird abdominal pain/ aches. I haven't been to the doctors yet as I've been hoping it'll sort itself out and if I'm brutally honest with myself didn't want to have anything on my record that stops me being able to use mounjaro in future. Going to woman up and (try to, because there are also literally no slots for 4 months on the app) book something though.

jay55 · 18/07/2025 11:47

@PinkArtwell done on the 2lbs, sorry you’re still not feeling good. Hope it can all be sorted out and you can carry on.

I’ve been sat here feeling a bit grumpy and hungry, realised it’s almost lunch time and I’ve only had 200cals today and so it is an understandable hunger and fine to have a snack.

I don’t know if I’ll ever entirely trust listening to my body.

Pumpkinforever · 18/07/2025 16:06

Congratulations @PinkArt 2lbs 💪🏻 you will be in the 5 stone club come September. I need to crack on and catch up😂

What dosage are you on? I am now up to 7.5mg

I have the same struggle @jay55 I have deliberately not eaten much today as I will be off to a BBQ shortly and I know I will easily consume lots of calories there. I did make sure I did 10k steps earlier in the coolness of the morning.

PinkArt · 18/07/2025 16:34

Thanks @jay55 and @Pumpkinforever . I'm on 6.25. I was on 5 until about March, because it was working well and decided not to go up a full dose because the low doses had been working well for me. So whatever is going on isn't a reaction to being on a super high dose.
I do have a history of bad luck with side effects though. My IBS was triggered by antibiotics, my first blood clots we assumed were from the pill. So I've had a nagging feeling throughout that I'd have one of the Daily Mail headlines type reactions to Mounjaro.
I managed to get a doctors appointment for Tuesday though and have bought some gaviscon today just on case it's something more indigestion related.

Hello All. A klaxon for me this week.

For the first time since 2004 I have a healthy BMI!

Thanks, @lovealongbath, this is giving me hope! I hadn’t really thought about what it will look like with regrowth - tbh so long as it starts growing back I don’t think I care!

Minoxidil was the other thing I was considering - please will you report back in a couple of months? If I haven’t cracked and bought it by then, that is!
