Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@PinkArt I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling so good. I did have very painful stomach ache a few weeks ago. I was concerned about my pancreas but the GP thought it was appendicitis. I got referred straight to the surgical assessment team. It wasn’t my appendix and they weren’t able to find a cause. My bloods were normal and no worrying pancreatitis markers. I’m currently taking 40mg of omeprazole which seems to be working. The nurse said it could potentially be gastritis. But it gave me a scare and I came off MJ. Not taken a jab for 3 weeks and I’m definitely hungrier and eating more. Shotsy says I have about 1mg left in my system.
I am going to contact oushk and ask for drs advice on whether I could go on a low dose. I miss knowing I have the safety net. I’ve asked my gp for full bloods and I’m going for a review in a week or so and will ask about an endoscopy. I’d like to know what causes the pain.

Thanks for sharing @Cantbesure and I'm sorry you've had something similar. I relate to that fear. My digestive system has been fucked for years, thanks to IBS, so normally I'd put it down to something I've eaten messing things up for a bit, but all those 'death jabs' headlines might be getting to me.

Cantbesure · 13/07/2025 21:42

Ooh they are stunning @Mounjaropen is the ankle strap comfortable.

@PinkArt the woman next to me was also being checked for pancreatitis so we aren’t the only ones worrying!

Absolutely as comfortable as they look 😂 But I wanted ‘wow’ shoes and I think these have the requisite amount of sparkle 😉

You have inspired me to buy a gorgeous turquoise skirt I was dithering on because it's been an expensive month. It was only a tenner from Vinted so a bit of a different scale but it's great to have things just to enjoy. Those shoes are stunning and I bet they're absolutely gorgeous on

Ooh that sounds fabulous! I don’t keep anything for ‘best’ I wear all the jewellery, all the shoes, use all the handbags. Clearing out the houses of both our parents made me feel quite sad about the sheer amount of unused things kept for ‘best’ and remained unused and never enjoyed. Life is short, enjoy your new skirt!

Haha 😝 but they are stunning. You will make a beautiful and sophisticated bride, I’m sure.

I will see the GP next week to push for more tests. It’s all been under control since taking omeprazole. I plan on messaging oushk for advice too, but not got round to it yet. I’ve put a couple of pounds on since coming off MJ which is disheartening. Although I’m still in my target range. I would like to know if MJ is still an option for me, if I keep putting on a few pounds.

Exactly as you’d imagine 😂 my dress has a thigh high split at the front (get me!) so I’m hoping that the shoes will be able to be seen. All the other shoes seem to have Business at the front and party at the back, which is no good for a long dress…😉

Wow - I seem to have dropped out for an entire thread and a half! I haven’t had time to read through 1500 posts, but congratulations to everyone for any and all scale and non-scale achievements!!!

So I’m currently on my 4th week without taking the death jabs, having done 8 weeks of 2.5mg to wean off. When I finished on 5mg (my max dose) I was 10st 12, and am
now sitting at 10st 3 (have been maintaining around this weight since coming off MJ). I’m definitely getting a bit of food noise back, and when I was on the jabs I’d quite happily fast until 1ish or sometimes even through until dinner, but I get rumblings around 10ish now. But I feel in control of it more than I did pre-November. I’m not struggling to keep to around 1600 calories a day, I’m still making good food choices 90% of the time, and drinking plenty of water, all of which I’m determined to keep up.

It’s been fabulous not having to worry about covering up in the recent heat, I can’t remember the last time I put on jeans, and I am slowly building a wardrobe of clothes I am happy to wear rather than hide underneath. It’s hard to believe that, less than 9 months ago, I was almost 90lbs heavier and never thought I would even lose a stone. MJ really is a miracle drug!!

jay55 · 14/07/2025 10:33

its great to hear the different approaches to life post- MJ dieting. It shows that there isn’t a one size fits all.

90lbs is incredible. You must feel, quite rightly, amazing. The hugest of klaxons 🎉

is there anything in particular you’d recommend doing post MJ? I’m 3 weeks off and not finding it so easy.

I’m not going to lie - I’ve had a few wobbles, especially in the first week or two. When I first started feeling hunger again (oh I hadn’t missed that feeling…) I was almost scared of it, same with food noise and wanting treats. Its taken these 4 weeks for my brain to cope with the fact that hunger is normal, and I’m going to want to eat the cake, or the chocolate, or drink the wine, but as long as I’m sensible about it it’s not going to suddenly put all the weight back on! Actually ‘giving in’ to the noise/hunger and seeing that the scales haven’t changed (still a daily weigher so there is fluctuations over the week) has been reassuring

I’m still sticking with the same rotating menu for meals, which also helps, keep up the protein and the veg. But with the summer holidays coming up, who knows if that will continue, so I’m just trying to remember the good habits I’ve learnt since November and not worry about the kids treat cupboard

Cantbesure · 14/07/2025 19:30

@WellyBootsandPuddleSuits oh god I had forgotten what it was like to feel hunger and experience food noise. I think I’d convinced myself I was now a paragon of virtue able to control my appetite! I’m in the panicking stage. But this has been a ‘bad’ weekend. I’ve just given myself a talking to and told myself I need to set limits. If I want to have a few drinks and eat more food that has to be limited to once a week. I had a weekend with 3 days of eating and drinking. I think I’d just got used to MJ taking control and forgot that now I won’t automatically limit myself in the same way.

you have done so well. Very inspirational 🥂

Where’s the laugh emoji button when you need it? 😂

I’m flattered, but the OG is most definitely the Patron Saint of 50 year old women everywhere - arise St Jennifer of Aniston… with her fabulous arms and absolutely banging body (swapping bodies with hers is one of my 3 genie in a bottle wishes because I am dead shallow😂)

Hurrah another lb off. The minute the temperature increases I stop exercising. I really need to wake up earlier and get my steps done.

Starting Stats 15 stone 12 / 100.7kg / BMI 41.4
Current Stats 11 stone 6 / 72.6kg / BMI 29.8

Total loss to date 4 stone 6lbs /28.1 kg or 62 Guinea pigs

My maintenance call is booked for the end of September and in an ideal world I want to see a 9 in front of me but if I can shift another stone I will be delighted. Hell! I really pleased with my current weight compared to what I was.

For some unknown reason I decided to sort out my tights drawer at midnight 😂 (DH is away) and finally got rid of loads of extra large tights. I also have 6 boxes of unopened extra large M&S multi packs in black and illusion colours. Plus I found a box of size 20 multipack knickers. Going to walk to a nice charity shop this morning not the horrible one that made me feel shit a few months ago. Then going to pop into a new Pilates studio that has opened up and is offering barre classes which I used to like before my huge stomach got in the way.

I want to shift another stone before buying more clothes. My clown cropped trousers are now for gardening only as my daughter said that they are too baggy to go in public 😂

Really disappointed that MN got rid of the laughing emoji response.

Congratulations! What an achievement! Have you a local women’s refuge nearby? They are always grateful for those sorts of items. Also unopened items gratefully received by some food banks? At least they’ll be non-judgemental! I’m still fuming on your behalf about how you were treated by those awful women 😘

STBDH is also away tomorrow evening so me and the dog have an agreement whereby he will let me go to bed early without making a fuss(he does not allow that normally 😂) so I might have a clear out myself!
