Welcome to thread 12 fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we list old clothes on vinted, give thanks for MJ as we enjoy a far more comfortable Summer significantly lighter. We now wear ALL the damn shorts 💪🏻

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones, maintenance and our lowest stone brackets!

I’m on W35 D2 and on my fourth 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 9st 10.6lbs
GW 9st 7lb
Total loss so far 56.4 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I did a thing… ordered a bikini 😱 (I may regret this but thinking people in Greece won’t care and now I need to stay slim until end of August at the very least 😂)

Wear ALL the bikinis you lovely, fabulous woman 🥰

I’ve been wearing a slightly tight bikini top in the garden with shorts today (DD boobs need proper fitting bikini to go in public) and dd3 said “mum, I’ve never seen you in a bikini”. I didn’t think she’d have even noticed.

Some great updates, well done all!

I have a question! Does anyone else feel suddenly FUCKING MASSIVE again in this heat? I'm still sitting on a bmi of 29 so obviously not 'thin' yet, but have been feeling positively supermodel like lately (all relative, right?). However today I feel like I've piled all 5 stone + back overnight: practically carrying my stomach over my shoulder as I flob around the house. Just me?

phyllidafosset · 12/07/2025 23:12

Hello all! Hope you are all enjoying your new summer wardrobes! I popped in to say hello and to fire many klaxons and the such like at the many successes!

I have ordered my first 2.5mg pen since the last one ended at the end of May. I have felt like I’ve been eating for the 10,000s in the last few of weeks and I haven’t been able to go to the gym, and the lbs are all sitting on my stomach! It isn’t terrible but I am going to use the 2.5mg on my holiday, to try to manage the over eating. I won’t be able to exercise properly so I’m hoping MJ will take the edge off. It isn’t helped by the fact that I am in one of my longer period cycles (my period menopause is currently at about 5 shorter months and then one longer one).

I am deciding that a bit of MJ every now and then is an alright long term solution. I just hope it works okay!!

Dreamqueen · 13/07/2025 07:04

Drinking more water has definitely helped with the temptation to snack. jabbed another 10 on Friday. I redid my TDEE and my maintenance calories are 1,286. No wonder i've put a couple of pounds back on. Going to log everything for the next week. I've definitely been eating well over that number.
There's an article in the DM this morning saying that lower doses work better but i can't read it because of the paywall & I refuse to pay. I found much better supression and losses at 5. Moved up to 7.5 after the long holiday in march thinking it would get things going but it hasn't really.

Maintenance call is tomorrow so will ask about going back down to lose the last few lbs.

Yes. I agree with you. But on a good note it's the first time I've actually felt not freezing since i came home from holiday in March.

jay55 · 13/07/2025 11:10

Lower doses are bound to work ‘better’ as we’ve all loads more to lose at the start. By the time most of us are on higher doses we’ll be well on the way to goal(hopefully).
While I understand the researchers need to study everything a lot of what’s being published is so unhelpful and confusing

Mounjaropen · 13/07/2025 11:23

weigh in this morning - 134.4lbs. Turns out smash burgers and champagne after STBDH’s wedding suit fitting on Saville Row (he’s fancy) followed by copious amounts of Rose whilst watching a rerun of Live Aid are all good for weight loss 😂 Lovely NSV as the female shop assistant came up to me to tell me I looked very elegant and she wanted to tell me before she went for her break (how lovely of her). I was in a silk kaftan - the same one I wore when I was 4 stone heavier and probably looked like Nana Mouskouri 🤣

Wardrobe update: I just tried on a Gucci thong languishing at the back of the knicker drawer for the past fifteen years…size L and it only just fits. What size do you have to be to wear a small do we reckon? 😂 (It was a gift from DH by the way - he did use to have form for buying himself presents but dressing them up as a present for me 😂)

Happy Sunday everyone… we’ve a nothing day planned so STBDH is apparently making me brunch in bed which features a breakfast mimosa cocktail 😍, he’s also making Parmesan, fennel and chilli biscuits to have whilst watching a shite film later (probably something featuring Statham) and the Wimbledon men’s final and then he’s planning to make Cote De Boeuf and chips whilst we pick wedding canapés. He’s in no danger of being jilted today let me tell you 🤣

Just did my me360. I’ve lost 5 inches each off my hips, waist, stomach and thighs and 2inches off my biceps since December 17th - so roughly 7 months ago when my BMI was 29.4. So grateful someone suggested the app so I can see the progress 🥰

Oh poor you. We all have fat days. I was feeling marvellous and have now realised at a bmi of under 23, I’m not even size L in Gucci pants 😂

It’s all relative indeed. But you’ve achieved so much so keep buggering on 💪🏻💪🏻

@PinkArt I’m sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling so good. I did have very painful stomach ache a few weeks ago. I was concerned about my pancreas but the GP thought it was appendicitis. I got referred straight to the surgical assessment team. It wasn’t my appendix and they weren’t able to find a cause. My bloods were normal and no worrying pancreatitis markers. I’m currently taking 40mg of omeprazole which seems to be working. The nurse said it could potentially be gastritis. But it gave me a scare and I came off MJ. Not taken a jab for 3 weeks and I’m definitely hungrier and eating more. Shotsy says I have about 1mg left in my system.
I am going to contact oushk and ask for drs advice on whether I could go on a low dose. I miss knowing I have the safety net. I’ve asked my gp for full bloods and I’m going for a review in a week or so and will ask about an endoscopy. I’d like to know what causes the pain.

Cantbesure · 13/07/2025 12:01

@phyllidafosset do keep us updated on how this works. I like the idea of doing similar.

DarkForces · 13/07/2025 12:13

I'm in some burnt orange shorts and a bikini top that I'd never have looked at this time last year and I look pretty good for mid 40s though I say do myself. It's such a habit to be critical of our bodies @PresidentBarklett but we've all come so far. I bet you look fantastic. Wear something cool and floaty and embrace it.

Accepting hormones can really fuck with a calorie deficit has been quite freeing. Riding it out can be frustrating but it is easier to trust the process on mj. Rather than taking on more blame and increasing the shame cycle.

100% this. With mounjaro i find it so much easier to be logical when my weight fluctuates

KentishMama · 12/07/2025 18:34

Sorry, ladies, I'd momentarily mislaid you!

Just checking in. Still hovering around 70.5kg/ BMI 23, and I think that seems to be the weight my body wants to be at. I'm losing and regaining the same 300 grams over and over again. I'm wearing a size 10 on top and 12 bottom, and I'm very happy with this situation.

Going to France for two weeks tomorrow. Mountains, hiking etc. first, and then a few days in Paris for sightseeing and shopping. I can't wait to get away.

One weird thing: I've had really bad shin issues. Basically a random flare-up of perioral dermatitis, probably ironically brought on by my attempts to do more for my skin and try new cosmetics... It's been pretty horrid and I'm now on heavy duty antibiotics to shift it!

Oh you have my sympathies. I've had perioral dermatitis and I was so self-consciuous. Search for DrJart+ cicapair - its great at taking the angry redness out of your skin and calming it down. Mine ended up being a reaction to gluten and I was eventually diagnosed as coeliac!

@Mounjaropen I'd like to be you when I grow up please! Mimosas in bed and husband cooking on demand sounds lush! My DH has misplaced his cooking skills sadly. He used to make the best meringues and a mean creme brulee....must remind him. Any news on SJP worthy wedding shoes?
