Morning all,

Week 18 of maintenance
SW 12st 2lb
GW 9st 7lb (happy with 9st 2lb - 9st 7lb)
CW 9st 3.1lb
Current dose 3mg every 8 days, going to reduce to 2.5mg next week.

Still weight training twice per week and walking dog 3-4 miles per day.
Reverse dieting and eating 2,200 calories per day without weigh gain, aiming to get to 2,500 calories. Ate 130g protein each day this week, plenty of mince, steak, chicken, eggs and have protein shakes, protein bars and yoghurts to get to the 130g.

Re Oushk. I see that they have said that maintenance plans will now be GP led with support from pharmacists, presumably to try and meet the expectations of the GPC. I have been with them a while now and will carry on as have been pleased with personalised support provided. However they have grown incredibly quickly and I think that has affected the service offered.

Re L-Tryptophan. Still taking it and not sure if psychological but seem to have more energy of an evening.

Off topic but just in case this helps anyone, I have booked couple holidays re Easyjetholidays lately as they were cheaper for exact same hotels than Tui or Jet2. A bonus I didn’t know was that if you cancel more than 60 days out you get your deposit back.

TheChosenTwo · 12/07/2025 09:45

3lbs off this week, now 10st 9 from 16st.
think I’m pretty much where I need to be now, BMI hovers around 23, I’m 5ft 8 and I look in proportion and objectively I think I now look slim. But I’m definitely healthy and that was always my goal, to give my heart a break from the strain it was under!
Will look into booking my maintenance meeting.

Letshavetea1 · 12/07/2025 09:56

@TheChosenTwo - that’s fantastic! Well done! Which provider are you with for maintenance if you don’t mind me asking?

recklessgran · 12/07/2025 11:07

Morning all. Sorry I fell off the thread and lost the plot completely for a while!
I've been having some complicated health problems related to kidney failure and fluid retention that is still in the process of being sorted. Had a great holiday with DH, DD, DSIL and darling baby DGD in Ibiza but had a month off jabs as obviously rather worried about my health. Now back and on 5mgs with maximum suppression. Still a slow loser I've just about got to 2 stone off now - currently 13st 7lbs so still a long way to go. This is proving to be quite some journey! I'll read back and catch up with everybody now and will try to post more regularly. Hope everyone's enjoying the beautiful weather and showing off their beautiful new bods!

lickycat · 12/07/2025 11:41

Great to see you back @recklessgran ! My fellow slow loser! Sorry to hear about the health issues and glad they’re gettting sorted. After the break from MJ are you still getting the bad side effects?

I think I’ve done 38 weeks on MJ now, and as of this morning I’ve lost 36lb in total, so still averaging a 1lb a week(ish). It’s still a bit unbelievable to me that this has actually worked and I’ve lost 2 and a half stones. Ive still got plenty to go, I’m not at a healthy BMI yet, but slow losses do add up!

lapuf · 12/07/2025 17:16

I’ve had a bit of a bad week and wasn’t sure whether to do a new thread and cop it a bit from the masses or to hide here with my October pals Blush chose the latter obvs but may comment on other threads if relevant.
I took my last jab on Sunday after making my 5mg pen last 9/10 weeks, taking about 2.5mg per dose, so have gone way over the 30 days. Was very fastidious about hygiene and kept it in the fridge as knew I was going over 30 days. I’ve had a horrible reaction this week, mega suppression where I could hardly eat and then vomiting on Thursday. It’s been a bit of a sociable week with nights out and moderate wine but it does feel a bit different to any other week I’ve had. I’ve managed a sandwich today so hopefully past the worst!

Could it be a bug? I've heard covid is going round and seen a few with colds at work. Maybe that would explain the mega suppression, lack of appetite and vomiting

recklessgran · 12/07/2025 18:53

@lickycat to be honest I took a big risk really and put myself straight back on 5mgs after a 5 week break with a bit of a gung ho attitude and was so surprised to find that apart from very strong suppression I've had none of the horrible side effects I had before. I was bouyed up by the fact that due to all the scans and tests I've been having in connection with the kidney failure I've recently been told that I don't have gall stones, all organs look normal, no aortic aneurysm etc so I found all that rather reassuring despite the underlying kidney worry. Just waiting for one more blood test and hope that will be O.K.
@lapuf to be honest I'm sceptical about the 30 day rule after reading lots of threads about it although I did discard a part used pen and start a new one after my break - I might be reckless gran but not THAT reckless!! Hope you feel better soon.

lapuf · 12/07/2025 20:48

Ahh thanks both
i have no other symptoms but might be heat wave related too
nice to have you back, reckless gran! Smile

@TheChosenTwo - that’s fantastic! Well done! Which provider are you with for maintenance if you don’t mind me asking?

Of course not, I’ve been with Oushk since the very start of my MJ journey, the only reason I went with them was because I could choose my delivery date!
They seem to draw drama on some threads on here because of their FB group but I’ve never joined it so no idea what it’s all about myself 😂 I’ve always been happy with them, all of my deliveries have been absolutely fine and it’s been really easy this far (since October) to order with them.
Have been out all day and just realised it’s my jab day so will do it in a minute!

liquoriceallsortfamily · 12/07/2025 23:43

Which Renpho scales do you all have please?

A link would be fantastic if anyone could oblige please 🙏 xx

Letshavetea1 · 13/07/2025 05:58

@recklessgran - good to see you back! So glad you’re recovering. The weight loss is great too and I’m pleased you managed to go back on 5mg.
@lickycat another slow loser here! I can’t believe it’s working - still have to pinch myself! 36lb is fab. We are getting there!
@lapuf - sorry to hear you’ve been poorly. It does sound like a virus tbh. Glad you’re on the mend now. Let us all know how you’re getting on with maintenance please.
@TheChosenTwo - yes, Oushk do seem to attract drama! I’m with them because they offer maintenance plans. I booked my appointment this week and they didn’t have any until September (nothing earlier available but it’s about right for me as I’ve still got some to lose to get to a bmi of 25). I’ve heard that once you’ve booked it you can ask them to let you know about any cancellations.
@liquoriceallsortfamily - I recently bought Renpho scales from Argos for £25. I bought the white as they look better in my bathroom. They’re fab. Here’s the link:

igivein · 13/07/2025 12:13

Only one pound off this week. Was two pounds but one came back on Friday 🙄, but a loss is a loss and I’ll take it.

SW 20st 2lbs
CW 13st 8lbs

On the NSV front - I’ve been wearing shorts (even in public) and no-one called the police 😂

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 14/07/2025 08:07

Morning all

W38
SW 17'10
CW 13'10

Officially 4 stone off as of today! BMI was 36.6 and now 28.4!

We were out last week and we had 5 guys for lunch. I had a cheeseburger and some chips, struggled to finish it despite it being my only meal of the day, and it went straight through me! I have not had that side effect for a long while now, despite having the occasional treat like that. It's the first time I have had anything like that on 15!

I have 9 weeks left on 15mg (including bonus doses) so am hoping to get another stone off by then. My last stone took 11 weeks, including a 2 week holiday, on which I put on 4 pounds. I have no holidays due in the next 9 weeks (apart from a couple of weekends away) so I am quietly confident I can get there, but if I can at least get to under 13 stone I will be very happy.

My plan is still to stop after the 9 weeks is up and try to eat sensibly and will use the money I spent on MJ towards a local gym where there are a variety of classes that I can do. I know calorie counting, or anything too controlled won't work for me, but I know I can't stay on MJ forever. although I know some of you will.

That said, if the weight does ever start to creep back on, I am hoping I can start again, even if just for a month or two as I know that the lower doses are effective for me.

Good luck everyone!

HansHolbein · 14/07/2025 18:30

This is going to be a long message, apologies in advance!

I had my maintenance video call with SwiftDr. I'll copy & pasta what I wrote from another thread...

Just had a lovely video call with their GP, Dr Bano. She’s an experienced GP with an interest in obesity.

She asked me about my background to do with weight. I explained that I have been struggling since the age of 11, then was diagnosed with PCOS in my early twenties after years of no periods, hairy body, acne, and then struggling to conceive.

She asked me about my weight loss since October (I’ve lost 7st 10lbs/48.9kg) if I had any side effects, and what dose I am currently on (15mg). I’ve had no side effects, and my PCOS symptoms have pretty much gone and my periods have returned.

She asked what my next steps are. I said my goal weight is 8st 5lbs BMI 19.7. About 1.7lbs away. She was fine with this.

She advised that I now need to start titrating down to find the dose that maintains my weight and that she wouldn’t want me to lose anymore weight once I reach my goal.

She is happy for patients to stay on the medication for life and they will work with patients to support that. If you stop and start gaining weight, they will take you back on as long as it’s within a 12 month period.

She asked me about my diet and lifestyle and explained how it is important to make changes alongside the medication.

I asked how pharmacies verify height when nobody has ever asked me to do so. She said that they can usually tell from the photo, (maybe they use software or something) and if they aren’t sure they will ask for a video call to confirm.
She asked me to book another video call in 2 months time.

I’ve been with Swift for a few months now and I was impressed from the first interaction. Always responsive, caring, and understanding. Looks like I will be with them for a long time. I’m happy they ‘get’ it.

@HappyNewt Glad things are going down for you!

@lapuf I've had much the same from my husband! Fuck, are you ok now? You poor thing.

@Letshavetea1 So glad you've seen some movement, really happy for you! Totally agree with the 'pinch me!' moments; I can't believe this actually worked... is this real or is it a dream?

@EVK That sounds like a really good plan. Lovely update from you.

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 Fuck yes! Great NSV! Were the 5 guys handsome? Sorry. Terrible joke. My son dragged me to 5 Guys last year, my gosh it was so expensive - but delicious. Great plan of action you've made long term.

@Bluenose1966 18 weeks - you are an inspiration to us all. Thank you so much for telling us your diet and lifestyle stuff. I need to learn about reverse dieting, sounds interesting.

@TheChosenTwo I bet you look incredible! Very happy for you. How is your PCOS? Are you having fun with clothes?

@recklessgran Gran! I was so worried about you. I'm so sorry to hear you aren't well. You must be stressed. Glad you had a lovely holiday. Lots of love to you.

@lickycat Your username still makes me laugh! Do you have a cat that licks you a lot or something?! 1lb a week is very healthy and very sustainable. Well done you.

@igivein Your loss is phenomenal. Bloody hell. Brilliant about the shorts. Get those legs out!

From me... I reached my goal this morning! 8st 5lbs - I can't believe this is my life. I didn't believe this was ever possible (I still don't?!). I thought I was going to be the fat one for the rest of my life. Before October, I was living in a prison. I didn't know I was living in a prison but now that my life is so free and positive, I can see now how sad it really was. Always turning things down, feeling overwhelming shame, always anxious and to be honest, rather angry about life. Mounjaro has done way more that sorting my eating out, it's sorted my brain out.

Here are my stats

34yrs PCOS 5ft 4.5in (yes I lost half an inch lol)
SW 16st 2.7lbs/102.8kg BMI 38.2
CW 8st 5lbs/53.07kg BMI 19.7
TL 7st 11.6lbs/49.7kg
48% of my body weight lost

I have 2 more doses of 15mg and then I will be starting 12.5mg. Currently, I have no plans to come off. I know that as soon as I stop, everything will come back and I will be 16st (or more) again. This is just the reality for me. Maybe if I can maintain for a few years it will be possible. My focus now is to maintain, get strong and just enjoy my life, as I should have been all these years and stop buying shit off Vinted

Love to all x

Phenomenal stats! 🙌

lapuf · 14/07/2025 21:51

Oh wow @HansHolbein so amazing! Very proud of you Halo your stats are unreal!

lapuf · 14/07/2025 21:57

Ps I have been completely rumbled by the world and his wife now, having a jaw line seems to have been a big giveaway and people are asking outright if I’m on the jabs. Technically I’m not now Grin but I’m saying yes, I was!
I am a bit cross about the timing of my dodgy stomach as I couldn’t eat a delicious Indian meal that was a treat from a mate and he took mine home as a doggy bag, I’d kill for it now I’m feeling better! I do think it was the jab and/or hot weather, I just couldn’t eat anything and then when I attempted to override that I vomited.
Maintaining here still at 8st 10.6 this morning, got a low level of MJ still in my system helping me make good choices but not for much longer, willpower will be needed!

WildOneWalker · 14/07/2025 22:01

@HansHolbein i just can’t believe what an incredible journey you’ve been on. Your weight loss is phenomenal and the gains you’ve made in confidence and happiness are just profound. To be free and no longer feeling like an angry prisoner 🙌🩷 I am so happy for you.
@recklessgran so sorry you’ve not been well and kidney failure sounds concerning- I’m surprised you’re able to use MJ with kidney problems - really hope all will be well. @DeltaAlphaDelta79 incredible loss for you too - I’m sure you’ll reach your goal and smash the next steps. @lapuf it does sound like you’ve had a virus of some sort - hope you’re on the mend now. You’ve been stretching those pens out but I don’t think that would result the symptoms you’re describing?

Ti everyone else - love reading all your posts. I’ve just been diagnosed with ocular migraines after suffering my first and very scary one this weekend! Doctor from 111 thought I may have had a TIA and was at rush of a stroke ! Had to go to A & E - bust come home as 6 hour wait just to see a nurse ! Saw doctor today and she did all the tests I needed and I’m totally fine - told her I was in MJ and she congratulated me and said what huge benefits there were to losing weight and our health and that my symptoms had nothing to do with MJ - I always wonder if there’s anything wrong with me if I’ve courted disaster!
I mad 8.6lbs once this week and was very happy. Still on 2.5mg and helping me get myself back on track - need to get back to the gym like @Bluenose1966 but just can’t push myself in there while the weather is so nice. Are you taking L- tryptophan or tyrosine ?
Goota sign off and get to bed - this migraine has wiped me out . Night all 🩷
BTW all this is @evk but for some strange reason I had to re - register with mumsnet and create a new username?!!

TheChosenTwo · 14/07/2025 22:33

@HansHolbein that really is a wonderful update, so happy to read that your provider is supportive of your plans going forwards.

i’m definitely feeling great wearing shorts for the first time in… maybe forever in my adult life.

Had a bit of a crappy experience at the gp today, went because I’ve been having some, what I think is, ovarian niggles. One of them often flares up a bit painfully then it stops and I can go about life normally but I’ve been having persistent pain there for about 6 weeks niggling away, pains that literally take my breath away and then recedes again but for weeks. She saw I’d lost a lot of weight and on one hand was saying I’d done well, really brought my blood pressure down and didn’t need to lose any more weight and on the other hand didn’t want to refer me for a scan because she was pretty insistent it was down to the MJ and that I needed to come off it. It was only when I pushed her and told her of my family history of ovarian cancer (aunt and grandmother) that she begrudgingly said she’d refer me for a scan but she thinks it’s the MJ and said ‘it is such a new drug and we are seeing a lot of gastric issues from this’. I pointed out that I wasn’t having any gastric issues. She told me it was time to come off MJ and maintain my weight without it. I pointed out that my insulin resistant PCOS wouldn’t enable me to maintain my weight (maybe in time I will be able to but I’ve just got down to a healthy BMI and probably do need to keep going for a while, possibly on a lower dose but that’s a discussion to have with my provider for now). Anyway was just a bit miffed that she was singing my praises for losing the weight but dismissive of my concerns once she found out I was on MJ. Thought I’d share my frustration!

WildOneWalker · 14/07/2025 22:54

@TheChosenTwo that’s not a great response from your GP - ovarian cancer in the family - she should have wound her neck in and if she was worried about MJ causing gastric problems - she maybe should have thought about how that could be investigated too!! Almost suggesting people are cramming up the system with their MJ ‘gastric problems’ and just stop it! Not t supportive or helpful! Glad you’ve got scan referral - ovarian cancer is one to be ignored as I’m sure you know - I’ll be keeping everything crossed for you that all is well xx

Histoscientist · 14/07/2025 23:11

Wow you are all doing wonderful and great to hear from you all.

@HansHolbein 48% loss wow that's incredible 👏 great to hear about your story and glad to hear its regulated your periods too. I hope you are proud of yourself. Are you going to drop down to a certain dose now?
I'm down to 10st 0.4lbs from 13st 1lbs. I've amended my goal to 9st 7lbs now as I still have plenty of abdominal fat. Looking into cryolipolysis or lemon bottle maybe.
@TheChosenTwo sorry about your arse of a GP. Glad they finally referred you for a scan. Are you going to taper down?

TheChosenTwo · 14/07/2025 23:12

Thanks @WildOneWalker - I felt good that I’d advocated for myself and not just rolled over and accepted her not sending me for a scan. But I also felt that I shouldn’t have had to push so hard for it and fight me own corner.
And her tone was so dismissive. Asked how I knew it was ovarian pain - of course I don’t know, I’m guessing, but she asked where the pain was coming from and I said I think it’s my left ovary, it often niggles before a period because it’s covered in cysts and then it calms down again but I know 6 weeks of prolonged pain is not normal ‘for me’ so I wanted to get it investigated.
and thank you for the well wishes, I’m sure it’s nothing significant but it will be nice to have proper confirmation given my family history.
she asked if I would feel relieved once I’ve had the scan if it’s confirmed as nothing untowards shown, I said of course I would!
She’s not my actual gp, I was sent to a different branch of the practice spread over 2 buildings in 2 different parts of town - I’ve not been to this branch before and never seen this particular doctor. I don’t know if it’s even a thing that you get to request your own or a specific doctor anymore!
And if it does turn out to be a complication from MJ then i’ll deal with it and cross that bridge if and when the time comes. Until then im not stopping taking it.

TheChosenTwo · 14/07/2025 23:15

@Histoscientist thank you, yes I’ve got one jab left in my 12.5mg pen and after that I was going to go down to 10. The first one of 12.5 didn’t seem to be having much of an effect but the 12.5 is suppressing my appetite more now and I’m having to make a real
effort to get the calories in. My weight loss has increased a little again and I was quite happy where I was and didn’t feel like I needed to lose more so i’m going to try coming down and seeing if I can find the optimum dose until my maintenance appointment and see what happens then.
