Welcome to thread 11 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we throw away the tent dresses, have no chub rub and wear ALL the damn shorts as we head towards Summer Holiday Season. 🙌

Join us here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and generally mutually admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W29 D5 and on my third 7.5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 1.8lbs
GW 9st 13.9 (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 51.2 lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a wellness/supplements/beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Hello all - glad to see you’re all still going strong.

I’m on W28 D3.
I’ve lost a total of 44lbs on MJ (51 lbs in total) and my BMI has gone from 33.3 to 26.

Thrilled with my overall loss but am frustrated at the moment as it feels like I’ve been going up and down the same few lbs for weeks and weeks.

It stalled a few months ago so I went up to 5mg and the weight loss kicked in again for 3 weeks and then stopped again. So I went up to 5.5mg two weeks ago and it feels like it’s not doing anything. No suppression or weight loss - only constipation 🙁. I hit my current weight for the first time about 3 weeks ago and it keeps going up and down.

I’ve lost something like 20% of my body weight now so I think I’m going to have to go higher up the doses to get to target - it just isn’t working the same way and I’m feeling more hungry than before.

I really want to get my BMI in the healthy range. Not too low as I do exercise and lift weights so have a decent muscle mass. I just don’t feel like I’m where I want to be quite yet.

How do you all manage with well-meaning people who say “oh you don’t need to lose anymore weight surely?” 🙄 It’s so annoying. It’s un-asked for advice and nothing to do with other people. But I find myself listening - partly because my weight isn’t shifting anymore, I wonder if they are right.

Congrats on that loss! Amazing!

Concentrate on your water, protein intake and eating within your BMR and the scales will move. Monitor your inch loss to keep motivated as the scales stall. Keep up the movement and strength training. You are doing brilliantly.

It’s no one else’s business what weight you are aiming for and comments like ‘don’t lose too much’ do not IME come from a place of genuine friendship. Ignore and keep up the good work until you reach a place you are happy with!

We've done 11 days of an alcohol free house. DSS went home on the train yesterday, hopefully now his head is functioning more clearly he will be able to maintain an alcohol free life and get his act together. DH and myself have also benefitted from the detox house. `my stalled weight has shifted hugely and I lost 4lbs in the 11 days. I treated myself to some super expensive posh vodka in Asda yesterday but will be limiting the consumption.

I hope everyone who's on holiday at the moment has a fabulous time and is embracing the joy of life on our death jabs. They've definitely been life changing.

Hair is still falling out at an alarming level. I've got all the supplements and have upped protein. On consideration I'd rather be the size I am now with thinner hair than my previous size with long thick hair. The dyson is needing hair unclogging from the roller weekly at the moment. It's driving DH mad as he has an obsession with hair blocking plugholes and the vacuum. He's a weido though :)

Well done on the detox and hooray for the 4lb loss. Fingers crossed things go well for DSS.

Alcohol is a difficult one; I love wine. I like gin / cocktails and the like but can go weeks without them happily - but wine is my main go to. It’s full of calories and I definitely need to cut back. I treat it as my instant relax - especially when things are a bit tough or stressful. Or as a reward! DH and I keep saying we should have less wine, then it sort of flies out of the window (our resolve, not the wine!).

If I drank less I’d be losing more - I need to keep reminding myself!

Goldleafcat · 29/05/2025 08:41

Random beauty update - Trinny London have 10% off at the moment, with 20% off if you spend over £130, and if you splurge over £200 you can also get a free full size retinoid serum.

(I’m currently wondering how many bottles of wine would offset a £200 splurge! 😂)

Well done on the loss! 🙌 Your DH sounds like a keeper. Mine still eats chocolate biscuits with no plate on a cream sofa…🤨

Same here. Bloody love wine. I have reduced my alcohol days to only the weekend (hols excepted) now since November which I’d never have achieved without MJ..DH’s intake has been reduced only because I’m not drinking 😂

I think I need to do that too (restrict the wine to weekends and holidays) - I’m sure I’ll feel loads better for it too.

You’ve both inspired me!

lovealongbath · 29/05/2025 10:23

morning everyone,

Weekly weigh in on 3.25 dose..
Today is jab number 27 so that’s me 6 months in. Don’t think I have ever stuck at a “diet” for 6 months as I have always given up before now.
Had to complete 6 month review with Med Express.

This week I have been so disciplined and I am disappointed to have only lost 0.8lbs. But I will keep plodding on, onwards and downwards.

SW 18st 4.3lbs
CW 15 stone 4.5lbs
0.8lb loss this week
total loss so far 2 stone 13.8lb
I have lost 16 % of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 36.7

Achievements this week ….
my steps this week are 73949
week 2 of a daily average of over 10k steps a day.

Well done to everyone on the great losses and to those that have reached maintenance stage, we can do this. 💪

flametrees · 29/05/2025 11:38

So this week all of a sudden I’m getting the have you lost weight questions. Even though I’m this weight now for what feels like ages suddenly I look slimmer. My jeans waist 28 are comfy. My legs have gotten very thin. Only noticed that when I put on sweaty Betty leggings I had in my wardrobe for god knows how long still in a packet.

muffin top still there but boobs are finally shrinking. Normally 34h but need to get fitted again as they are ridiculous now.

scales still not budging. I’ve upped the water. All the walking to the loo should help the step count.

Great losses on here and so motivating. So glad I found you all.

BlueWalker · 29/05/2025 11:51

I have spent 2 days being ruthless and sorting out my wardrobe. I now have so, so many 'new' clothes to wear (mostly a size 14) from the last time I lost weight and have said a poignant goodbye to some old favourites that now just hang off me and a joyous hello again to some others that were hidden at the back as I got too fat again to wear them and seeing them made me sad. I am keeping the dress I changed into at my wedding reception and my wedding dress though, even though they are massive on me 25 years later. I just couldn't bring myself to get rid. I also bought a Shapermint strapless bra (they're brilliantly stretchy and comfy when you're changing sizes) so I can wear some of the 'new' stuff since it's off the shoulder. I now have a beautiful clavicle so I'm planning to show that bad boy off and my boobs might be OK without hoik them up bra straps. Huzzah!
Disclaimer - I haven't worn a strapless bra out in decades so I may yet chicken out.

jay55 · 29/05/2025 12:09

@flametreesI deffo found during my stalls my body shape was changing, some loose skin tightened a little and things seemed to redistribute. It was kind of fascinating even if frustrating on the scales. Brilliant on the ‘new’ clothes, enjoy them.

My scales shifted down a little this morning and I’ve been able to eat okay today after not managing more than a few bites at a time since Monday. Suppression is probably too much on 10mg but reluctant to go back down.

On the plus side no nausea this week and fewer burps.

Cantbesure · 29/05/2025 12:29

I also love wine. And MJ didn’t stop me from wanting to drink it. But 6 months in I can see it hits me more quickly and my hangovers are worse. I’ve cut back (mostly) from prob 3 bottles a week to one. But different if I’m going out etc. I still bloody love a few glasses though.

flametrees · 29/05/2025 14:56

@jay55i need to keep motivated. Im
on 10 too but not finding it too strong. I found moving up the 5 the hardest by far. I could hardly eat at all. Even drinking water was hard.
not had that since moving onto 7.5.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 29/05/2025 17:03

Mounjaropen · 28/05/2025 13:33

Oh dear. Keep buggering on.

I’ve just nearly had my eye taken out on the plane by an American man wearing a backpack. There should be some sort of compulsory spatial awareness course men are made to take after purchasing one. And yes sir, I do mind even if it is a Louis Vuitton backpack 😂

On the upside, the air hostess just handed me a menu and said ‘you look very glamorous by the way’ I doubt that would’ve happened last November 😂

Something’s telling me that @Mounjaropen wasn't on my Jet2 flight - were you on a plane that has first class? Don’t think anyone on mine was wearing LV. Although I did spot about 8 women wearing the same stripy M&S linen trousers as me.

I have just purchased more Elavator cream for my wrinkly neck. I think it works

MagnoliaTreePetals · 29/05/2025 18:57

@AlwaysTimeForWine Twice this week I have had someone say to me "don't lose any more". One of them went from "gosh you look amazing, well done", to "you will start to look haggard if you loose any more" in the same breath. What can one say to such rudeness??

My rational thought is that I have lost quite a bit, and by comparison I am indeed slimmer; but I still have over a stone to go until I get to the top of a healthy BMI.
Also, clothes off, I can see plenty of extra body that I do not want to carry around with me.
My sister is very similar to me but 2 stone lighter and never had a weight problem. I doubt very much indeed anyone thinks she looks haggard or should start piling on the weight. In fact, someone once very rudely said 'it's such a surprise that you are not slim like your sister!' My lovely sister went on the attack on my behalf and told them to back off (she may have used some stronger language!).

What I want to say to them is stop flipping criticising me and my choices, Don't tell me what to do! But I am just too polite.

You have a very fortunate son @Dreamqueen , to have your care, love and support.
I also try to limit alcohol to the weekends. I do find that something switches me off after a couple of glasses now, thanks to MJ. But it is still better to have alcohol free days.
Having said that, we had my birthday on Monday, a family funeral on Tuesday, a friend took me out for lunch today, so my alcohol free days this week are in a small minority.

Because of the celebrations/events of the week, I am not weighing in until next week so that hopefully I can still see a loss. I know that for me, I get very disheartened if I see a gain, so I stay better motivated spreading my weighing in over a longer period when necessary.

A moment of realisation: We had to buy a 6 pack of 1.5 litre bottles of water. I found it difficult to carry it far at all. So I weighed it. It was 'only' 1.5 stone.
It's astonishing to think that I was carrying the equivalent to well over 2 of those around with me all the time last year.
It also reinforces the message that another stone loss will be a great thing for my health....... and any criticisers who want me to stop losing can go take a ffflying leap!
