Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

This week I’ve had ‘you’re looking slimmer’ and ‘you’re looking well’. I immediately changed the conversation!

I was dying for someone to notice but now I’m dreading someone asking me if I’m on the skinny jabs!!

I had an ‘OMG you’re TINY’ from a mum at DD’s old prep school yesterday who i bumped into on the high street. In prep-school gate parlance this is the holy grail. Up there with ‘She’s worryingly thin’ (I’m definitely not that)😂

well I found them! Unfortunately I can’t delete or edit the posts they are in :( Will have to hope Mumsnet are going to delete them all!
Saying that, I probably won’t use them again anyway and I have no credit to lose!

the reply from MN I got indicated that it would not be happening any time soon…😩

I wish they would just delete the whole section! I have £400 of credit which I can’t afford to loose.

Cantbesure · 25/04/2025 20:59

Med express built their whole business on the use of referral codes. It would be a bit rich of them to revoke credit based on the business model they encouraged! I won’t be using them again but I never got any credit.

Mounjaropen · 26/04/2025 07:55

Good Morning friends in my phone…

Final weigh in for the week is 146.2lbs which is 2.2lbs loss this week. Not a whoosh but I’m happy with that.

On the downside I noticed I have the start of some varicose veins coming to the surface on my legs - weirdly on my kneecap and front shin on one leg..so my dreams of wearing shorts this summer may be thwarted 😩 obviously I’m off to google remedial treatments 😂

Wishing everyone a lovely weekend 🥰

I've not posted for ages but I've been following along with this thread. I'm now 3.8st down and so pleased I started this journey. My youngest is starting a new school on Tuesday and I've been weirdly relieved to have lost a decent amount before I become the new parent at the school gates. I have noticed at my heaviest I was less welcomed in social situations, possibly partly me being uncomfortable but I don't think that was the only reason.

I've also been noticing way more hair fall in the last few weeks, I've got thick hair and haven't noticed my hair looking thinner but there's so much hair in my hands when I wash my hair it's unnerving! I've done a big shop with plenty protein rich foods but I'm also on the look out for a supplement if anyone has any suggestions? Sticking point is I can't tolerate Biotin as it breaks me out.

TeenLifeMum · 26/04/2025 09:22

Has anyone heard of nutrition geek? I’m very confused. I’ve been reading about collagen and suddenly I get a pack from nutrition geek through the post with some other capsules. I panicked that I accidentally clicked something and ordered it all but nothing on the bank account or credit cards. It’s so weird. Sensible me thinks I shouldn’t use random packs of stuff that came through the door… but they look legit 🤷🏻‍♀️

No idea about them sending things out randomly but they're legit - I buy their Ashwagandha via Amazon

I’m sure dh will find one spent £££ somehow 🙈 I’ve been very tired (ferritin is down to 11) so I’ll blame that. I think I need to do more research before I take anything though.

qotsa · 26/04/2025 09:53

@TeenLifeMum I use Nutrition Geeks for all my supplements. Really reasonable price wise and good strengths too. So odd how you’ve had some randomly delivered? I order mine through Amazon.

😆 just be sure it's not some weird subscription or something!

Hope you're getting some help with your ferritin?💐

TeenLifeMum · 26/04/2025 09:56

Off to check Apple subscriptions! Didn’t even think of that. Ferritin levels only went on my nhs app last night. I assume my gp will text and say “take ferrous fumerate” even though I can’t (makes me vomit).

Cantbesure · 26/04/2025 10:50

@TeenLifeMumhow odd. I get my magnesium and lion’s mane thru nutrition geeks and I’d be delighted if they wanted to send me something for free. Not the collagen though as it’s not vegetarian 😂 I bought my lion’s mane direct but the magnesium on Amazon.

to those asking about hair loss I think it was @lovealongbathwho posted a very comprehensive message recommending nioxin. I have used this before but hadn’t realised how important the first step was so I only used the shampoo and conditioner.

is it your school reunion tonight @Mounjaropen have a fabulous time and enjoy being a skinny Minnie. What are you wearing?

MsRumpole · 26/04/2025 11:28

I've just started taking Absolute Collagen and it's decent enough - one sachet a day, the most bearable is the mango and honey flavour (it's marine collagen). I just take it from the packet. The only other supplements I take are a combo of Vitamin D which also contains magnesium and a multivitamin designed for women over 50 (am 49 so figured I might as well get in early).

They sent lion’s mane too! I’m wondering if it’s gift from someone.

Ooh amazing. That’s a fabulous haul. Would love someone to send me a gift like that!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 26/04/2025 12:26

I got biotin from Nutrition Geeks, also via Amazon. How weird, @TeenLifeMum, but also a good opportunity to try some of that out? Could it have been delivered to the wrong house? Or sometimes I still get accidental deliveries for the last people to live here even though we’ve been here for 7 years.

Steak for dinner in an attempt to boost protein levels!

It’s definitely my name and address - my nickname that I go by so it’s someone who knows me… or I double clicked and auto ordered something. No sign on bank details though. If the collagen was a smaller packet I’d assume it was marketing but seems too generous for that. Dh still thinks I ordered it during a moment of brain fog. He’s baffled and amused.

Cantbesure · 26/04/2025 13:02

Looks like it’s the meno support bundle
plus Collagen. Good choice. Do let us know when you get to the bottom of it!

That’s interesting. We have all been talking about menopause as most of my friends are there but I’m younger in my early 40s and not quite there. I’ll give them a go though.

No loss but no gain which, considering I did eat Easter eggs, I’m happy with. 1-2lbs off this week would be good as we have a big family event next weekend seeing relatives I’ve not seen since the summer.

Goldleafcat · 26/04/2025 14:00

You’ve all got me looking at supplements on Nutrition Geeks now 🤣

Sorry my tags didn’t seem to work there!

@Mounjaropen @evilharpy

Totally off topic, but seeing you tag people reminded me to ask this question that I keep thinking:
what happens when you tag someone? I’ve been tagged in posts before, but I don’t get a notification or anything - am I supposed to?

Anewdawnanewname · 26/04/2025 17:15

Cantbesure · 25/04/2025 07:21

Oh absolutely. Being very petite it is now so obvious to me why I put weight on so easily. My BMR is less than 1200 calories. So I am always going to have to restrict what I eat. I will need to count calories for life.

I also have had my eyes opened to this, I was trying to articulate it to someone the other day. I think I’ve always just thought that 2000cals meant I could eat loads and didn’t take into account my height. I was tracking cals before I started on MJ and thought I’d be losing at 1800 cals but I wasn’t, I’ve had to drop right down to 1350ish.

This is the prescription that appeared on myGP app after I’d had my blood tests. No explanation of what it was, I had to google to see what I’d been prescribed and why.

Mounjaropen · 25/04/2025 12:30

Update from me today (W25, Day 5) and it is a positive one!

  • Weigh-in this morning is 147.0lbs or 10st 7lbs (🥳) so 2lbs less than last Saturday and bringing me up to 46lbs loss so far.
  • This morning I completed my 100th Pvolve class (🥳) so that is an average of 4pw since that start of November. I’m dead proud of that. My body shape has altered significantly and the specific GLP-1 programme for the past 4 weeks has really benefited my arms in particular (watch out Jen 😂)
  • All of my Renpho scale stats including my metabolic age are in green for the very first time (🥳) including the fact that my Metabolic age matches my actual age..😂

Supression has been unusually strong this week for no discernible reason but I’ve leant into that and I’ve been really clean eating this week. Zero treats aside from a tablespoon of Pizza Express house dressing on a salad (I’ll take that for the win tbh). I think the increased weight training because of the specific GLP-1 calendar is also helping my metabolism.

I have 7lbs to go to reach my first goal weight of 10st and then 7lbs after that to reach my buffer weight of 9st7lbs. So 1 stone left to go..!

Anyway after a week of a facial/massage/eyebrow tint/eyelash lift/Manicure/pedicure and demaplane I feel ready to meet my old Uni friends 3 stone lighter this weekend with some excitement!

Happy Friday Everyone!

Well done! You’ve really embraced the process - 100 classes is real effort and dedication. I wouldn’t worry about getting ill, you’re past the point of stopping because you’ve benefited so much. Plus now you’re at a much healthier place in your life it won’t feel so monumental to start up again. Enjoy the reunion!

I’m also loosing hair and getting a bit wrinkly so I’ve started taking Absolute Collagen- no idea if it’ll do anything but it says you see results in 3 months 🙏
