Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

@Mounjaropenyou need to give yourself(and your body and the scales) some grace, the losses will slow as you approach goal. And you’ve done so well to have such consistent losses so far.

I know that deep down, but I just want it to be gone 😂

Thanks @Mounjaropen

I haven’t been tracking which is the problem. I know I have been hungrier than.normal, so I think I just need to get back to being vigilant! I feel more on top of it the past couple of days.

Also plan to add a couple of yoga sessions to my week on top of my strength training as I have had a really sore hip, think I need to work on stretching more!

That sounds ideal re : Yoga.

For comparison, my BMR is hovering around 1320 calories per day so unless I create a significant deficit each week (of at least 3500 calories) I am not going to lose a lb. Check what your BMR is and go from there.

Keep going!

I did it! I made it to a healthy BMI! Weirdly, this is after having a takeaway burger for dinner because work ran so late, but hey, whatever works.

That's great @TooExtraImmatureCheddar I do find sometimes a mini splurge helps a plateau weirdly. Quite fancy a burger now!

Cantbesure · 20/05/2025 10:24

Wohoo 🎉 @TooExtraImmatureCheddar well done on getting to a healthy BMI and to your goal

. I realised yesterday was my 6 months MJ anniversary. I hadn’t intended to be on it for 6 months when I started. I assumed the weight would drop off me on a low dose and then I’d continue my life 😂 what has happened is the weight has come off slowly, but in 6 months I’ve lost 33lbs which equates to 22% of my body weight. I’ve changed my perspective on what a healthy weight is for me and as such now weight about the same as my very early 20s. I’ve gone from size 14 to 8-10 clothes. I’m running 5k again and training for 10K. I’m going to the gym and started swimming and netball. My asthma is loads better. I don’t think I’ve had a migraine during this past 6 months. My self esteem is in a much better place. And I have found this lovely supportive online community. Hurrah for MJ 🎉👏

jay55 · 20/05/2025 10:42

@TooExtraImmatureCheddarthats amazing well done.

@Cantbesuregreat loss too. Interesting about the asthma and migraines. I wonder if the help with inflammation that mj gives has given you improvements along side the weight loss.

Caplin · 19/05/2025 15:49

Afternoon all, I’ve been MIA because I hit a plateau and it is getting me down. I have bounced around the same three pounds since Easter. Last week I thought I was back on track as I lost a bit, but this week it was back up.

I have felt snackier, and can eat slightly larger meals than before, but nothing crazy. In a way this would be the ideal balance if I was maintaining.

So it might be time to go up from 5mg in a couple of weeks. I’m nervous as I was really sensitive when I went up to 5mg for ages, no appetite at all, but I’m six weeks away from my twentieth anniversary holiday and had hoped to shed a few more pounds by then.

I know quite a few people have hit a plateau, and I know I will get past it. Just a bit frustrated!

Been there. I seem to be settling into a a rhythm of couple of weeks losing followed by nothing for a few week. Just so long as it is an overall downward trend I will be happy. Without MJ there is no way I would have stuck with a diet this long

Invisablepanic · 20/05/2025 13:00

@Cantbesure I don't think I've had a migraine since I started either. I was more worried about headaches as a side effect than nausea but it's been fine.

what a lovely, positive post! Congratulations on all of your achievements - truly fantastic to read.

Without jinxing it, I was thinking only yesterday that my health has been significantly better since being on MJ. No colds, bugs and even my hay fever is in abeyance this year. It does feel absolutely miraculous!

Keep going!💪

Well I have finally had my full body lymphatic drainage massage today. The practitioner also did RF skin tightening on my face. I think depending on the results, I am likely to go back for RF on the loose skin on my tummy and thighs after my holiday.

So..whilst it was clear she was very well trained in the Lymphatic system and other holistic approaches from when she lived in Australia she was a bit 'tin foil hat' for me. That said, she did not look anything like her age (43) and If she had told me she was late twenties I would've believed her so she obviously practices what she preaches! Some things she mentioned did make sense - she immediately picked up on my arms which are resolutely not going down quickly enough and she said I had stagnant fluid due to blocked lymph nodes following years of using a non-natural deodorant. She also said the same of my lower face and neck. Anyway, it was quite relaxing as a treatment (if I tuned out her wanging on about covid jabs) and the before and after pictures of my face definitely showed a difference I think. Only time will tell I guess! She did compliment my skin health and also said that my legs were in good shape and there was no inflammation so I was happy with that!

The scales are still showing an increase on last week's lowest weight which is a pain but I will keep buggering on! 💪

That’s interesting @Mounjaropen let us know how the RF goes!

Does anyone else have a dress that looked a certain way and you thought that was part of the style (flash of pocket lining)… now I’m slimmer it looks different because it fits as it should 😂🙈

Yes, I have a pair of trousers where I thought the pocket lining was showing just because they were cheap. Nope! I was just fat. Also I’ve said on here before about thinking the pockets on a denim skirt were really shallow when actually they were perfectly normal.

I am so pleased with myself. The last time I was this weight I think I was 25. I’m now 41. I’m going to aim for another half stone off to be comfortably in the healthy zone - not sure whether to go up from 10mg to 12.5, actually. At this rate another 7 lbs will take me about 6 weeks anyway, so that’s another high dose pen and then perhaps try going down to 7.5mg for the pen after that.

I went up to 12.5 but then back down to 10mg (mostly for cost reasons but side effects are zero at 10mg so energy less zapped).

I remember your denim skirt discovery!

I was only “fat” for 2-3 years and in 2020 I was running a half marathon. That said, I’ve spent my whole life feeling fat, then looking back and thinking ffs I was tiny. I remember in my late 20s feeling huge at 9st 2. I wish I’d been kinder to myself.

Pumpkinforever · 20/05/2025 19:08

‘I will keep buggering on!’

that sums up the MJ journey for me now @Mounjaropen I will keep buggering on as I have invested too much to just stop.

random223 · 20/05/2025 23:46

Sorry to hear about the plateau @Caplin . I only lost a pound in April but have shifted a few more since increasing my dose from 6.25mg to 7.5mg. Didn't really want to go up but pleased I had that option - it has stopped me giving up which would have happened before pre-MJ! Hope it works for you.

Dreamqueen · 21/05/2025 08:55

@TooExtraImmatureCheddar 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍 fantastic work.

jay55 · 21/05/2025 11:18

I’ve ordered a couple of bikini tops for my September holiday (have been caught out before, no summer clothes available by August, so being proactive) and impulse added a pair of white cropped jeans, in a smaller size to shrink into to my basket.
Not entirely sure what I was thinking but need some motivation to get exercising.

Week 2 of 10mg much like last, I’m so full of wind I couldn’t possibly eat anything.

Oh for goodness sake, when will this nonsense about deodorants die? If our skin was that permeable to any passing 'toxin' we'd be dead within the hour 😂

And how rude that your lymphatic massage hasn't resulting in a big whoosh!
