Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Another one in the stuck but buggering on camp. I am getting more used to being this size though and have a better sense of what size will fit me! Ordering a medium and knowing without a doubt that it will fit me is such a lovely feeling!

Speaking of being stuck, I fear I may need to start tracking my calories 😭 I really, really don't want to but I'm obviously doing a great job of maintaining just now! Time to kick start the weight loss again. I'm 3lbs away from being a healthy BMI and maybe half a stone away from goal...maybe 10lbs depending on how I feel.

Yay!!!!!! Blooming well done @tooextraimmaturecheddar! How are you planning to celebrate?

I had a large glass of wine to celebrate and steak for dinner, and we’re on holiday in Greece from next Wed so my main celebration is going to be wafting around the villa in a series of bikinis and all the holiday clothes that were too tight last year! Also I’m going round to my sister’s to plunder her holiday wardrobe, most of which was too small for me to borrow in the past but not any more.

Cantbesure · 21/05/2025 17:08

I want a big fat Greek holiday!

how was the RF @Mounjaropen? Would you recommend?

Hurrah for wafting around in bikinis! I too want to waft around a Greek island. Have an amazing time!

Mounjaropen · 22/05/2025 08:25

Good morning friends in my phone…! weigh in today is the same as my lowest point last week - 143.2lbs - which is better than Tuesdays (145.0 wtf?) but does mean no loss so far for the week despite clean eating and plenty of exercise…so it does seem like I’ve hit a plateau given I only lost 0.6lb and unlikely to achieve 9’s before my big fat Greek holiday starting next Wednesday…😭 I know it’s silly to be downhearted but I am also fiercely competitive with myself 😂

This week is holiday prep so yesterday I had derma planing and an eye brow tint/tidy and then full highlights, cut and blow dry by my hairdresser (“lovely to see you’ve not lost your boobs!”). My eyebrow lady (aka my lovely life cheerleader) was marvelling this week about my legs “they’re so tiny!” Which was nice because I’ve never had tiny thighs let me tell you! Good news about the collagen intake because the hairdresser confirmed I had regrowth all over my hair so it has been worth the investment. I’ve got a manicure/pedicure booked for later today to finish off my pamper week.

For those asking about the RF treatment, I think there is definitely some firming around the jawline after that and the lymphatic drainage and it was painless. The practitioner was meticulous about taking my skin temperature throughout the treatment so I did feel like it was safe (if the layers are heated up too much you can end up causing damage including nerve damage). I’ve noticed that my arms look less puffy after the massage too so I think I’ll keep that up and maybe have a few more RF’s on my problem areas.

NSV’s this week - new bikinis with size 10 bottoms! (Top half is still 32J though 😂) My tummy/thighs look appalling but we have a fancy private pool at the hotel so no one will see other than DH. I’ve also dug out some old holiday gear (wafty cover ups, linen trousers etc) which has been both motivating and a lovely reminisce. I also found some old tennis whites which have a had a wash and brush up and are ready to wear 🥰

Wishing everyone (including myself) a whoosh this week!

early days, but I think I would. I’m going to have more treatments when I’m back from my big fat Greek holiday (sorry 😂) I’d say the most important part is to choose the practitioner carefully. It’s not the sort of treatment you’d want in the hands of a beauty therapist who has done a one-day course…

Ooh good luck plundering the wardrobe! Sounds like we’re both on our way to enjoy the Greek sunshine at the same time 🥰

Oh for goodness sake, when will this nonsense about deodorants die? If our skin was that permeable to any passing 'toxin' we'd be dead within the hour 😂

And how rude that your lymphatic massage hasn't resulting in a big whoosh!

I know. As I said, tin foil hat brigade 😂

I think the lymphatic drainage was definitely a good thing, my arms are way less puffy.

I’ve ordered a couple of bikini tops for my September holiday (have been caught out before, no summer clothes available by August, so being proactive) and impulse added a pair of white cropped jeans, in a smaller size to shrink into to my basket.
Not entirely sure what I was thinking but need some motivation to get exercising.

Week 2 of 10mg much like last, I’m so full of wind I couldn’t possibly eat anything.

Ooh I hope everything fits! I love a good internet haul 🥰

I went up to 12.5 but then back down to 10mg (mostly for cost reasons but side effects are zero at 10mg so energy less zapped).

I remember your denim skirt discovery!

I was only “fat” for 2-3 years and in 2020 I was running a half marathon. That said, I’ve spent my whole life feeling fat, then looking back and thinking ffs I was tiny. I remember in my late 20s feeling huge at 9st 2. I wish I’d been kinder to myself.

Totally this. Years wasted Bridget Jones style worrying because I was 9st 7 😭

Morning all. Loving all the losses and positivity as always in our safe corner of the internet.

yesterday I had my first dilemma about whether to tell someone about being on MJ. A lovely woman at work that I’ve known for 20 years said she had to double take when she saw me and that I looked amazing. I said it was calorie counting and starting back running. She did c25k and a half marathon about 15 years ago the same as me, and we used to encourage each other. She said she was struggling with peri and couldn’t shift the weight. And then messaged to say I’d inspired her to contact her old club and get back on c25k. Should I tell her how great MJ has been? I’m not sure. I haven’t told anyone at work other than my work bestie.

In Other news I’ve added a new supplement in the recommendation of a friend. Tremella mushroom powder. It’s called the beauty mushroom and is supposed to aid hydration, increase collagen, reduce fine lines and had anti inflammatory properties. It sounds a bit ridiculous but my skin feels more silky and soft after a couple of days of taking it. I can’t see a difference yet but I can feel it.

Pumpkinforever · 22/05/2025 09:18

Frustratingly I still have another 1lb to go to reach the 4 stone weight loss goal. So close but fingers crossed I will reach it sometime next week. Then I have another stone to go to be overweight so I will keep buggering on to achieve that at least, after all I have been a big chunky for 25 years! Off to get my 10k steps in now.

evilharpy · 22/05/2025 09:54

I'm way behind in keeping up with everyone's updates again! But some amazing results posted in the last few pages, well done everyone! I've been a bit up and down throughout May but have net loss of about 5lbs since the start of the month. I would love another half a stone off by 21 June when we go on hols but I think it'll be a bit slower than that which is fine.

I am now back in all my old size 12 jeans (mainly supermarket so vanity sized although I do still have a couple of small 14s from H&M and Zara). All my size 10s were skinnies which I got rid of when they went out of fashion, maybe one or two hiding in the back of the cupboard, so when I outgrow the current batch of jeans I will have to buy new ones. I am really not happy with how baggy I am around the middle though and hoping it'll eventually tighten back up a bit. It's not an apron or lots of loose skin, just a bit baggy!

Pumpkinforever · 22/05/2025 10:31

@Cantbesure I am not prepared to tell anyone yet (other than DH, DD, dentist and doctor - there’s a pattern there 😂) Maybe once I am just overweight as opposed to being just obese. I don’t want to jinx my progress and I don’t want friends to say ‘oh it’s just down to MJ , I would if I could afford 170 a month’etc. Plus once it’s out it’s out.

Invisablepanic · 22/05/2025 10:43

@Mounjaropen I love holiday prep almost as much as the holiday! We aren't going away (also Greece) until August so I'm very jealous your holiday is so soon. I had always said I wouldn't do Greece in August because of the heat but I'm hoping being much lighter than last time will help.

Am also on the holiday prep! I forgot to book a bikini wax in time, though, and now can’t get an appointment. Going to buy a home wax kit from Boots tomorrow and have at it. I also have a really weird ASOS bikini to return - it’s size 12, and it’s so high waisted that the crotch hangs down about two inches below my actual crotch. Nope! Either that or I have to pull it up to my rib cage. I don’t think this is a flaw that could be solved by going down a size.

jay55 · 22/05/2025 12:29

Thinness really is wasted on insecure teens and twenty somethings. I do love the way today’s kids have a body positivity movement.
Id probably saved myself decades of yo-yo-ing if my thighs at under ten stone were called thick or strong and not tree trunks.

jay55 · 22/05/2025 12:31

A colleague once bought an ASOS bikini, two pieces arrived and we were certain she’d been sent two tops, but they tried to insist the second two triangles on string (that wouldn’t have covered a nipple) were the bottoms. It was hilarious.

Pumpkinforever · 22/05/2025 12:32

I hear you @jay55 I also possess thighs that were referred as tree trunks when much younger.

Arglefraster · 22/05/2025 13:07

I'm loving the holiday prep chat it's all so glamorous- my holiday prep is making sure everyone has wellies that still fit, enough bite/sting cream, clear the shelves at the library & (over)buying walk books 🤣

MagnoliaTreePetals · 22/05/2025 13:32

5th week on 10mg, (lost track of total weeks)

SW 16.05
CW 12.12
Weight loss this week 3.5lb (surprised and delighted)
Total weight loss 3.5 stone

I am so, so pleased to see a number starting with 12. Hurrah!!!! First time in over 8 years, and when I lose 3 more pounds, I will be the lowest I have been for 18 years.
This is the best birthday present I could possibly give myself!
I am going to allow my self a small slice of cake, made by DD, and couple of glasses of bubbly to celebrate.
I also have a funeral next week far from home, and staying with family for a couple of days. So I won't lose much next week, but it's definitely onwards and downwards, confident that with MJ supporting me I won't go too far off track.

I also love preparing for a holiday. We are not going for another 6 weeks, but after reading @TooExtraImmatureCheddar's message I have booked my pedicure, manicure and leg wax for the days before we leave.

Ive also bought more swimming costumes. These are the 2nd size down from when I started on MJ. They are exactly the same colours and style as the originals, just 2 sizes smaller; Ive gone from a size 20 to a size 16. (I like Lands End as they do swimming costumes in DD (and DDD) fittings)

That is a tough one. I have been very open with friends, particularly the ones who have struggled to lose weight because it was well known I was moaning about the fact I was exercising loads and not losing a pound. I think it might be kindler to your friend to be honest (as long is as she is not a blabbermouth) and particularly as she is entering the menopause. She might need a little kickstart the same as the rest of us especially as you refer to her as a lovely woman.
