Mounjaro starters Nov ‘24 Thread 10 - The one where we are very nearly beach body ready 🥳

Previous thread here

Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Fascinating that there are a few of us that in 2.4lb club. It will take me into the 11 stone bracket and mean a 4 stone weight loss. So close!

I like @PinkArt treat idea. I used to tell DH (who still needs to go on @Mounjaropen training course) that MJ saved us money as not buying crisps and chocolate but I need new clothes and so clearly need new jewellery

I'm a terrible shopping influence. When my mum was going through chemo we'd go shopping for scarfs to use as head wraps, instead of a wig. She'd need a few basic block colours and instead we'd leave with a selection of fabulous sequinned delights!
Accessories have always been my thing though because my weight fluctuates so much. No point spending ££ on a dress if it didn't fit the second I got my period. But a fabulous bit of jewellery, bag, shoes, sunglasses...

The laxative muffins in question! I've just looked at the ingredients and tbh there's so much shit in there it could have been anything to set my stomach off.

No difference on the scales from yesterday morning to this morning mind 😂 😆

Love reading here. It’s so inspiring.
up to 10mg on Thursday and had my whoosh.
now 11 stone and half a pound.
cannot wait to see 10 on the scale.
I bought a Withings scale. My Renpho just died on me for no reason.
No appetite at all on the 10mg.
this always happens when I move up a dose.
I have 3 months of 10mg now but I might go to 12.5 after that if Im not getting results.

Im reading all your posts and learning so much. Only Dh and my eldest Dd know I’m on mj so can’t discuss it in real life.

I started at 13 stone 10 and not one person has commented I’ve lost weight except my daughters orthodontist who said my face was very thin and was I ill!

BlueWalker · 17/05/2025 12:54

Weekly check-in time.

W27 D1
12.5mg dose
SW 16st 4lbs
CW 12st 2.8lbs
GW 10st(ish)
Total loss 4st 1.2lbs

The weekly loss amounts are slowing, but they are still losses. And since there is now less of me to lose, I'm sure if I could be arsed to do the maths then percentage wise it's much of a muchness. The graph may be a more genteel gradient, but it's still heading downwards and that is what's important.

I've been considering what foods I now love/crave (although in much smaller amounts than previous cravings) based on other thread comments, and for me MJ has reignited my love of spicy. And olives. So, chilli olives have been my go to snack for weeks. I'm all about the flavour bombs! Also, when I do indulge in a takeaway it's a chicken shish with all the salad and the chilli sauce my local takeaway makes from scratch. It's really firey and was always a little too much for me. Now it's absolutely delicious.

Morning skinny Minnie’s!
Question for you and it’s not meant in an inflammatory way, I’m wondering if I’m being simplistic or I’ve misunderstood the whole concept !
looking at other threads, didn’t ask there, didn’t want to be flamed hence asking in my tribe - that’s you lot.
Ive lost weight because ultimately I’ve not eaten as much - yes? Drug doesn’t melt fat, suppresses hunger receptors ( no small thing I do understand ) SO, if I can remain eating as I do currently, without the drug suppressor, I can not put on weight right? I’m not minimising the me taking control of suppression instead of the drug but that’s what it’s going to take right? Mad or naïve I know but previously I clearly wasn’t eating less or I would have lost the weight I’ve achieved taking MJ, this is almost revolutionary. Just reading other threads said overwhelmingly evidence that once you stop weight will go on? But if I keep doing what I’m doing now (easier said than done obvs) I will be ok? Or have I misunderstood and it’s more than ‘just’ hunger suppression drug, is it changing how you absorb sugar/fat?
Feeling worried, thought I understood I had lost weight because I’ve eaten less!

You're right. MJ also delays gastric emptying, so the receptors in your gut tell your brain you're still full so no need to eat yet - this is why we get some of the less appealing side effects like sulphur burps. And in a cruel twist of body fate, delayed gastric emptying can also trigger explosive diarrhoea if you eat too many foods to move things along.

So it's going to be vital for all of us to develop strong, healthy habits when it comes to food. Focus on fibre and protein, lift weights to increase our metabolic rate (and allow a few more calories) and sort out any emotional triggers we have.

Saying that, I'm fully prepared to stay on low dose MJ forever if it means i can stay healthy and keep my eating in check. Obesity is a chronic condition, so it may be that some of us will need MJ for life.

Plateau week for me this week… lost 0.8lb since last Sunday despite 80k step count this week and all of the activity I listed yesterday... Not gonna lie, that has stuck in my craw given my activity and clean eating. That said, I’ve lifted less heavy weights this week as I finished the Pvolve GLP-1 6 week calendar so I will up that next week. Pvolve tally is now 115 completed classes and I feel my core is getting nice and strong. The clinic cancelled my lymphatic drainage massage this week as the person I was booked with was unwell so I have that to look forward to on Tuesday with a bit of RF. In other news, I think my festoon blinds on my inner thighs are slowly buggering off 💪

NSV’s this week include wearing a tennis skirt for the first time since school ! 🥳 As I went to the tennis match one of the other team members commented on how she wished she’d fake tanned too (I love a bit of fake tan, I’m basically Claudia Winkleman 😂). I confessed I was nervous to get my pins out but she said ‘as per the Sweaty Betty slogan, wear the damn shorts!’ And dear friends in my phone, I can tell you that objectively I did look fine in comparison with some of the others (if that’s not a catty thing to say ). Post match coffee the subject of WLI came up so I did say quite forthrightly that I’d lost 50lbs on them and one of the ladies on the other team said “Wow, but you look like you’ve always been tiny!” She used the word “Tiny’ 🥳

I then saw some old neighbours (elderly) who just came strait out with it “Goodness you’ve lost a lot of weight haven’t you?! You look fantastic “ 🥰

I’ve ordered small bikinis this week for my big fat Greek holiday and looking online now for the bra situation… hopefully I’ll find some lovely choices!

Off to a fancy London lunch today with DD who is back from uni and DH. Planning what to wear now - so lovely to have choice isn’t it?

Got another event tomorrow at which it is very likely DH’s ex will be at so currently planning a killer outfit to make a point 😂

How how fabulous! Tiny @Mounjaropen 🥳 At least you've lost 0.8lbs and not put on. Anyway, you're tiny!! Hurrah for tennis skirt too.

I pulled on jeans and a tshirt this morning. Nothing fancy. But when I looked in the mirror I thought "cute!". Bloody love seeing an image i love in the mirror. I know that's vain, but I've spent years hating my reflection.

Had a quick mooch in TK Maxx this morning and spotting a few items that I knew with certainty would fit - some cute maxi skirts with matching crop tops. Prefect for wafting around an Greek island (shame I have no plans to wait around a Greek island!)

Well I would complain. If they're going to cause rapid evacuation, the least they can do it kick start a whoosh on the scales!

You are right. I do feel thinner though than I ever have at this weight. But Yay for you feeling cute! Such a lovely feeling to enjoy your own reflection isn’t it?

I just had an ill-timed try-on session before we left to go out but OMG a Ted Baker dress I wore once 15 years ago is actually quite baggy on me. And the Versace dress I bought to wear to my godchild’s first holy communion but never actually managed to slim into now fits perfectly. Said godchild is now 27 😂 Last time I wore the first dress I needed double Spanx to get it done up 😂 DH said ‘is that new or something from the back of the wardrobe?’ He’s learning 🤣

New bikinis just arrived as I left so I’ll have fun trying them on on Monday I think!

I’m considering treating MJ like HRT. Why stop something that improves your life if it is medically safe to continue? If a low dose helps keep my fit and healthy, I’ll be staying on it I think.

The cancer came back a second time and sadly she didn't make it that time. It's one of the things that keeps me on track with getting back to a healthier weight though, knowing it'll be reducing the risk of getting cancer myself.

27 years?! Just goes to show you shouldn't always be so quick to get rid of items you love.

LindtCurves · 17/05/2025 18:24

Ladies, how do you decide when to stop?

I've got to a point where I am now smaller than I have been since my teen years. I wasn't big at 21, a tall size 10, and I'm now smaller than that, and my clothes from that period fit, and start feeling loose. I'll probably be out of that set of clothes in 2 weeks or so.

However my body fat is still high at 34%, and I'm lifting heavy to build more muscle and eating a high protein, reduced fat diet, to flip that balance around. The idea is to look lean and borderline athletic, but not get too skinny. So maintain/ increase current muscle mass, and drop the fat to healthy levels.

I do want to stay on the drugs to help with the body recomposition. However I am still losing weight so easily, I worry I may drop as low as 130lb, which would likely put me at size 6-8... Is that going to be sustainable long-term, considering i did not manage to sustain it when very young, with a faster metabolish and higher activity levels?

I think 130lb is the absolute lowest I'd go, and it's tempting... But I don't want to flirt with yo-yoing either.

@Mounjaropen, I fecking love the sound of your clothes. Show us the Versace dress!

Still stuck - in fact, back up most of a pound. I actually gave the scales the finger this morning because I was so pissed off with them. I did spend most of yesterday cleaning the house for my in-laws coming today so I was very dehydrated and we got a takeaway so as not to mess the kitchen up. But it is still totally the scales fault.
