Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Well it’s my birthday today and I moved up to 7.5 on Wednesday….well that was a mistake!

I’ve had no breakfast and struggling to finish my yogurt today for lunch!

Tummy isn’t great either! 💩

Well done! I am also 2.4 LBS off the next stone bracket, which seems tantalisingly close doesn’t it? This week does feel like it’s been quite the slog though… I’m not quite at a 1lbs loss despite Cleaning eating, having a great step count, playing tennis 2X and 5X of pvolve…😩

WOW! That is a superb amount of movement and exercise. 👏👏👏

I am another one who has retained a fondness (though less of an obsession) for crisps!

NSV for me - I bought a dress today in an XS! I am sure I am not an XS but can't do oversize as I am not tall enough. Also tried on a lovely top in a S. It fitted fine but unfortunately not long enough to cover my still very awful C-section belly.

Cantbesure · 16/05/2025 21:00

I was a bit worried this week about hair loss. I noticed a lot of hair when I took out my bobble. Had my hair done today and my hairdresser says my hair is looking thick and healthy. So that’s a relief.

Cantbesure · 16/05/2025 21:01

Happy birthday @IHateMozzies🎂🎁🥂

Really interesting piece about MJ and WLIs in the Guardian:

www.theguardian.com/news/ng-interactive/2025/may/17/weight-loss-drugs-altering-views-how-body-brain-work

DarkForces · 17/05/2025 07:38

Thanks for sharing @MsRumpole. Really interesting read. I'm looking forward to finding out more about the possible wider benefits of mj as research continues. Very clear it needs to be a long/life time commitment for most though to keep weight off.

I'm stalled at roughly 11 stone so planning to go up to 10 after this pen. Definitely due a whoosh!

Morning skinny Minnie’s!
Question for you and it’s not meant in an inflammatory way, I’m wondering if I’m being simplistic or I’ve misunderstood the whole concept !
looking at other threads, didn’t ask there, didn’t want to be flamed hence asking in my tribe - that’s you lot.
Ive lost weight because ultimately I’ve not eaten as much - yes? Drug doesn’t melt fat, suppresses hunger receptors ( no small thing I do understand ) SO, if I can remain eating as I do currently, without the drug suppressor, I can not put on weight right? I’m not minimising the me taking control of suppression instead of the drug but that’s what it’s going to take right? Mad or naïve I know but previously I clearly wasn’t eating less or I would have lost the weight I’ve achieved taking MJ, this is almost revolutionary. Just reading other threads said overwhelmingly evidence that once you stop weight will go on? But if I keep doing what I’m doing now (easier said than done obvs) I will be ok? Or have I misunderstood and it’s more than ‘just’ hunger suppression drug, is it changing how you absorb sugar/fat?
Feeling worried, thought I understood I had lost weight because I’ve eaten less!

Cantbesure · 17/05/2025 08:00

@Goodgriefisitginfizzoclock whilst there are obvs more complex chemical interactions at play, I agree with you that the basic principle of weight loss/management is eating in a calorie deficit. MJ suppresses my appetite and increases my satiety. I track on MFP and aim to eat around my BMR and move more, meaning I’m in a deficit.

My maintenance plan is to titrate down the doses and slowly increase my calorie intake, monitor my weight carefully and work out the calories I need to keep a steady weight. I will continue to focus on protein and fibre. And keep exercising.

I assume that the weight goes back on because the appetite suppression and satiety disappears, and people eat to satisfy the hunger signals. I don’t underestimate how hard it will be to eat like I eat now without MJ helping me feel full.

I’ve read a lot of the negative posts too. Ultimately it is the case that you’ve lost the weight because you’ve eaten less. That’s just basic science. The weight is not destined to go back on provided that you have overhauled your lifestyle and you didn’t continue to eat crap (albeit less of it). Because eating UPF’s/ heavy carby /sugary foods just makes the body crave more of it. I think someone posted upthread about using Zoe post MJ to monitor insulin spikes? That might be a sensible way to keep accountable if you are worried? I think a lot of people have reported cravings coming back with a vengeance but if you taper off on a low carb, high protein diet there isn’t really a cause for that to happen unless you let them do so. I know I successfully turned off my sugar cravings years ago doing Atkins so I’m hopeful I can do the same again post MJ..

Personally it’ll be the booze for me that’ll cause the most issue.. I do love a glass of wine, so if my sugar receptors get turned back on via that I know I’ll be susceptible and less likely to want to exercise the next day so a double whammy!

Mounjaro is such a miracle to me. On previous diets have given up once I stalled or my body would be screaming after losing a stone or so. Now I'm happy to accept the blip and just keep going. I'm on 7.5 so have room to increase and get the additional weight loss I need to get down to a healthy bmi. I know it's a marathon not a sprint and mj is such a fantastic tool. God knows I'd still be obese and growing without it.

Pumpkinforever · 17/05/2025 08:36

Fascinating that there are a few of us that in 2.4lb club. It will take me into the 11 stone bracket and mean a 4 stone weight loss. So close!

I like @PinkArt treat idea. I used to tell DH (who still needs to go on @Mounjaropen training course) that MJ saved us money as not buying crisps and chocolate but I need new clothes and so clearly need new jewellery

Invisablepanic · 17/05/2025 09:01

Yesterday my DH bought some chocolate chip muffins from Asda. I fancied one so had half...mistake! When walking to pick my DS up from his club my stomach started clenching and honestly I thought I was going to have an accident. I was closer to the club so I just kept going (no toilets there though). We did make it back home, literally just in time. That's never happened before and I only ate half the muffin, I'm wondering if it was some type of upf ingredient in the muffin as I haven't had anything sweet from the supermarket bakery in ages.

Sort of thinking about getting more in on a day I don't need to go anywhere every time I need to have a 'clear out' 😂

Mounjaropen · 17/05/2025 09:46

Plateau week for me this week… lost 0.8lb since last Sunday despite 80k step count this week and all of the activity I listed yesterday... Not gonna lie, that has stuck in my craw given my activity and clean eating. That said, I’ve lifted less heavy weights this week as I finished the Pvolve GLP-1 6 week calendar so I will up that next week. Pvolve tally is now 115 completed classes and I feel my core is getting nice and strong. The clinic cancelled my lymphatic drainage massage this week as the person I was booked with was unwell so I have that to look forward to on Tuesday with a bit of RF. In other news, I think my festoon blinds on my inner thighs are slowly buggering off 💪

NSV’s this week include wearing a tennis skirt for the first time since school ! 🥳 As I went to the tennis match one of the other team members commented on how she wished she’d fake tanned too (I love a bit of fake tan, I’m basically Claudia Winkleman 😂). I confessed I was nervous to get my pins out but she said ‘as per the Sweaty Betty slogan, wear the damn shorts!’ And dear friends in my phone, I can tell you that objectively I did look fine in comparison with some of the others (if that’s not a catty thing to say ). Post match coffee the subject of WLI came up so I did say quite forthrightly that I’d lost 50lbs on them and one of the ladies on the other team said “Wow, but you look like you’ve always been tiny!” She used the word “Tiny’ 🥳

I then saw some old neighbours (elderly) who just came strait out with it “Goodness you’ve lost a lot of weight haven’t you?! You look fantastic “ 🥰

I’ve ordered small bikinis this week for my big fat Greek holiday and looking online now for the bra situation… hopefully I’ll find some lovely choices!

Off to a fancy London lunch today with DD who is back from uni and DH. Planning what to wear now - so lovely to have choice isn’t it?

Got another event tomorrow at which it is very likely DH’s ex will be at so currently planning a killer outfit to make a point 😂

We need a link to the laxative muffins I think 😂

Glad you made it to the loo tho. The sweats alone must’ve used some calories 😂

I think this is the key - none of us have given up. Nausea, diarrhoea, constipation or feeling cold has not deterred any of us to keep going. 💪💪

ASDA are missing a trick with the advertising 🤣
"constipation muffins available here"

I would think it was the oil 🤢

I'm 200g away from 4stone loss (mixing my units with impunity😝) but period due so I'm not holding my breath. Either way that's 25kg gone🎉
Is anyone else really enjoying body weight exercises just because they're getting easier as the body weight reduces 🤣 I'm working on pistol squats (so much easier on one leg than the other 😵‍💫)

You can't start telling us you're Claudia @MounjaropenI have you firmly fixed in my head as St Jennifer!!! Bet you looked fab in your tennis skirt

I definitely am enjoying body weight exercises more - I can now do a sit up from lying down to sitting - absolutely no chance of that last Nov 😂🥳

I definitely don’t have the dark hair so I’ll take St Jennifer as my muse instead 😂
