Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I forgot to weigh in.

Stagnation for me. 73.4 kg, BMI 24.2.

I had a couple of odd weeks with work. Commuting more than usual and sitting in full-day workshops three days a week. Followed by team dinners. The catering was exceptionally good, and while I stuck to them healthiest possible choices, I ate more than usual, and that's showing. However, before Mounjaro I would definitely have put on weight in a period like this, so I'm celebrating the fact that I maintained!

I'm still enjoying replacing my wardrobe... But I'm between sizes a lot of the time (mostly between 12 and 14). I think I might just notice it more because I'm buying more tailored/ fitted styles, so they're less forgiving than the tents that I used to buy.

well no gain is very positive - especially when before MJ you would’ve gained weight. Bank that for the win Missus! 💪🏻

So sorry to hear about your accident - that's awful. 5 stone loss though is amazing!

Re; Bums. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think Mounjaro /Ozempic arse is a real thing. It is well-documented on here my exercise regime which has included weights since day 1. I have completed 110 Pvolve classes which have included umpteen squats/glutes strengthening exercises but even my previously-sizeable arse is no more. Flat as a pancake. I’m hoping that it will come back once I am off MJ. I literally have focussed on clean eating, maximising protein but to no avail….!

I think MJ hair loss is definitely a thing too. I’ve lost weight relatively quickly before but not experienced this.

Wishing ozempic tummy was a thing 😂

MontyJinks · 11/05/2025 20:11

@Goldleafcat

I'd gladly pay double if Ozempic tummy was a thing 😂

I'm generally feeling quite good about my body now, I'm less than a stone off a healthy BMI and actually quite bony in places, but my goodness, my belly stubbornly remains both saggy and baggy.....

When I bend over, it reminds me of a squishy squashy cottage loaf of raw dough 🙈

What a lovely update. 20lbs to lose seems like a lot to go still if size 10s are loose. How have you decided you would like to drop to that weight? I’m asking as deciding what the ‘right’ weight is for me is more difficult than I imagined. I’m already half a stone lighter than my original goal weight and probably a stone heavier than when I was a slim teenager. What is right for me now in my mid 50s with stretched skin?

@MounjaropenI feel the melted candle reference keenly. I’m in a bikini in the garden today and my size is lovely. Less so the stretched sagging stomach!

Thank you :) Well, it's the weight I used to be last time I was very fit and healthy. This is also what the body comp tool says I should weigh if I was to drop the excess fat that I still have, but maintain the muscle mass - my body fat is still outside the healthy range. Main goal is to get body fat to a healthy 25-30% range.

But perhaps I had less muscle then, so it may not be my ideal weight now. I'll just eat a bit more, train harder and see where the body settles.

I know size 10 being loose sounds like too much, but I'm also aware of vanity sizing... Current size 10 is the old size 12/14. I've actually taken some of my early 20s size 10 clothing to try and see how they fit now, as I'm still a high weight and am starting to fit into modern day size 8!

What are you thinking your ideal weight might be/ what are you considering? Does the idea of a whole new wardrobe come into the decision making?

I'm seeing the melted candle effect on my thighs and bum, and that's what I'm trying to address with the muscle build project.

3 stone rosette for you! Congratulations! Enjoy all of your benefits and teenage clothes! (Sadly if I wore mine, I’d look like an extra from Rivals 😂)

That soup sounds amazing! Do you have a link to it?

Nothng wrong with being an extra from Rivals, they are stylish! I'll take Cameron's clothes any day :)

Oh it's nothing special but it seems to tick a few boxes I am currently looking for, protein, fibre and divrsity of vegetables. I'm sure one can do a better home-made one: https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/bol-red-pepper-tomato-protein-power-soup?istCompanyId=1e096408-041f-4238-994e-a7cf46bf9413&istFeedId=689af7a8-5842-4d88-be59-1ee5688a81b5&istItemId=lqqppxwil&istBid=t&&cmpid=cpc&utm_source=Google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=20333793068&utm_content=shopping&utm_term=%257Bsku%257D&utm_custom1=&utm_custom2=759-449-0952&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=19663891335&gbraid=0AAAAAD17J_CqlS12R_p2lpXf6Zc_ZWI_7&gclid=Cj0KCQjwzrzABhD8ARIsANlSWNO0rcigmW8FuB-6sq8eZZ5OiqV3im8YGr6uip1YdTQ-8hjmwZvnVUgaAuB9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

@LindtCurvesim currently aiming for BMI 23 which is 3lbs away. My measurements are 35-27-35 so I’d like to trim my waist. I also need to tone up. I accept I’ll have loose skin at my age.

I'm going for roughly the same actually :) Fingers crossed the toning works! Are you taking collagen etc too?

I do miss having firmer skin but effectively it was just stretched out by fat deposits, so...

Cantbesure · 12/05/2025 00:00

@LindtCurvesIm a veggie and not really sure on the effectiveness of vegan collagen. I have some but I’m not great at remembering to take it. I am aiming for 1g of protein per kg of weight and upwards a day.

I agree with @Mounjaropenabout ozempic arse. I seem to have lost all my padding and it’s now feeling a bit bony and not as comfortable! I’m definitely flat of bum now.

Goldleafcat · 12/05/2025 06:33

I am saggy and baggy of tum too, also of thigh and upper arm (it’s like the morning after a huge fire at a candle factory, if I may embellish the melted candle analogy!)

Don’t know if anyone remembers / saw the episode of The Simpsons when Dr Hibbert did the fat jiggling test on Homer - that’s how I feel about those body parts 😩😂

Gettingbysomehow · 11/05/2025 11:46

I've just been in for a hip replacement related to an accident I had a few years ago. I'm a bit young for one but didn't have a choice really.
I caught sight of my bottom in the big bathroom mirror and to my horror I have mounjaro arse 😐It's all wrinkly due to the 5 stone weight loss, horribly wrinkly not least because of the weight loss but also muscle wastage from being immobile for a year after the accident. I'm so upset.
Can exercise and weights sort this out? The consultant says I can do gym weights in 6 months time.

So glad it’s all done and you’re back and recovering! Don’t worry too much about your bottom - you’ve lost a huge amount of weight very quickly - I think it’ll recover in time. I’ve bought a firming cream by Aveeno - I haven’t actually used it regularly enough to know if it works but maybe something like that might help the process?

StarShapedWindow · 12/05/2025 08:12

Can anyone help me with taking gel collagen? I’ve bought a huge amount because it was a deal with Absolute Collagen and to me it tastes repulsive and the texture of the gel is grotesque.

I can’t waste them but they are unbearable. I mixed one into Ribena but even that was hard to swallow. Would mixing it into a shot of strong coffee work? Does anyone else struggle to eat this stuff - should I have bought the powder?

Oh I’ve totally got that too 😂

I’m sticking by the theory that at some point we don’t have enough fat for it all to look saggy…I was aiming for 9.5 stones as my final destination (133lbs) which is 10lbs away and at SOME point, it must firm up. If I were to drop to my 18year old self weight (8.5 stones, so another 24lbs away) I think I’d look like a cross between someone recently dug up or Magda from ‘There’ something about Mary’ 😂

I’m going to start my home micro needling experiment on my problem areas today…

Thanks for that, I can’t see how it delivers that much protein if those are the only ingredients though? I agree a homemade one is a better way to go.

I’ve bought a great new cookbook called The Green Cookbook by Rukmini Iyer - it’s great. Really good inspiration and I’ve been adding meat in place of mushrooms or chickpeas or just adding it as well. I needed inspiration for adding veg and its doing the job

I didn’t choose absolute collagen because of the reviews of the taste. Revive collagen is similarly priced (cheaper if you hoover up the deals at H&B) but tastes quite pleasant. I’d just hold my nose and swallow until you’ve got rid of it all.

I LOVE her. I have all of her books. I’d recommend the sweetcorn, squash and black bean tray bake, just divine. I add lean pork loins to increase protein.

Ladies, I have hit my initial target weight! 42lb down.

Main effects:

  • everything is so much easier, walking up hill I'm not out of breath etc
  • much better, upbeat mood
  • really enjoying my fashion. Bizarrely size 10 has somehow become very loose on me. Keeping fave old clothes though in case I gain weight back. I'm wearing clothes from my teen years and they're starting to feel loose, too
  • hardly anyone has commented on my weight, but people just say 'you look really good'. Main area of weight loss seems to be face/ neck/ shoulders/back
  • my main 'problem' would have been random snacks, e.g. buying a UPF sandwich for a flight. Now I stop and think, 'do i want or need this? No, not really.' And I spend my tenner on a book instead, food for the brain

Plan now:

  • Lose another 20lb, but probably at the pace of 1lb or so
  • Build up muscle to have a really nice shape, not just be 'skinny'
  • Get my calorie intake up a bit. I've dropped under 1,000 a lot of the days, and it's not really sufficient to get all the nutrients in that the body needs. So I'll dose down, be more active and eat all the good stuff. A high protein soup with 14 different vegetables, and eggs and meat from my local farm is what maintenance dream are made of

So happy, thanks for all your support :) And this tool is amazing to make lasting lifestyle changes and really become the person we want to be, active, healthy, confident and glowing.

Plus extra kudos for our cohort for taking this on through the dark winter, peak comfort eating season, and Christmas!

Love everything about this! Well done!

Weight is stuck, grr. I’ve been bobbing up and down the same pound for a fortnight, and irritatingly I’m stuck just above a healthy BMI. Literally a pound and a half to go. Just started my second 10mg pen. However, I measured myself this morning and I’m 37-28-39, which is amazing! I think that makes me a size 10, or at least nearly a size 10. I’ve lost at least 4 inches off my waist since November (maybe more), and the same off my bust. So I’m trying to ignore the scales!

Oooh size 10 rosette for you! How fabulous!

SerenePeer · 12/05/2025 08:47

Happy Monday jabbers. That's me up to 10mg pen now and my word was i freezing last night! Thankfully no objection from the bowels yet, but I'm going to tread carefully just in case.

Long may this sunshine continue! Hope everyone who is stuck finally sees a whoosh this week!

And another vote here for making ozempic belly a side effect we want to see 😆

I've treated myself to a Ziip Halo device so I'm going to use it on my bingo wings as well as my face to see if the helps tighten up the skin.

ooh I might try my nuface on my problem areas too! No idea why I didn’t think of that myself😂

it’s jab day today for me and I’m actually looking forward to the cooling effect tonight. Had a rubbish night sleep because I was just so bloody hot! (Although possibly also down to the amount of alcohol my body was processing 🤣).

Morning. New week, new me and all that.

Am .5kg down, up from my midweek disaster, but a loss is finally a loss.
Had first 10mg this morning. Will see how it goes.

Had my usual hunger yesterday but not much food noise, I did finally finish my Easter egg so it didn’t last til Christmas but lasting past the bank holiday is an achievement.

Well done to those who have busted through their goal weight. Maybe next year I’ll be able to join you.

Thank you. According to an app on my phone this time last year they were 40-32.5-39. I can’t help shake I should have 10 inches between boobs/hips and my waist. But not sure I can get to 25!

W28 D1 - 3rd ‘maintenance dose’ of 2.5mg

S/W 16st 7
C/W 10st 9
G/W 10st 10

No movement on the scales this week. Well, actually, that’s a lie. I’ve gone up and back down 2lbs this week but I’m not mad about that. I’ve had cake, pasta and rice (in much smaller portions than pre-mj) and I’m not overly concerned about losing anymore. It would be nice to get to a rounded 6st down (so 10st 7) but mentally I don’t think I can keep readjusting my ‘goal weight’ - there lies obsessive behaviour.

It has been great to be able to throw on clothes that suit the warmer weather, without worrying about them. And having fewer options has actually been a good thing. Not saying that I’m not going to go shopping for more new clothes that fit, but I don’t feel the need to overload my wardrobe at the moment.

Need to keep up the gym though, my thighs, upper arms and stomach are much wobblier than I would like, so I’m hoping sticking to my weights routine will help with toning.

I’m very grateful to Mounjaro, and this supportive group, for getting me to where I am.
