Mounjaro starters Nov ‘24 Thread 10 - The one where we are very nearly beach body ready 🥳

Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

W28 D1 - 3rd ‘maintenance dose’ of 2.5mg

S/W 16st 7
C/W 10st 9
G/W 10st 10

No movement on the scales this week. Well, actually, that’s a lie. I’ve gone up and back down 2lbs this week but I’m not mad about that. I’ve had cake, pasta and rice (in much smaller portions than pre-mj) and I’m not overly concerned about losing anymore. It would be nice to get to a rounded 6st down (so 10st 7) but mentally I don’t think I can keep readjusting my ‘goal weight’ - there lies obsessive behaviour.

It has been great to be able to throw on clothes that suit the warmer weather, without worrying about them. And having fewer options has actually been a good thing. Not saying that I’m not going to go shopping for more new clothes that fit, but I don’t feel the need to overload my wardrobe at the moment.

Need to keep up the gym though, my thighs, upper arms and stomach are much wobblier than I would like, so I’m hoping sticking to my weights routine will help with toning.

I’m very grateful to Mounjaro, and this supportive group, for getting me to where I am.

Well done!! Have you got a plan for maintenance? What dosage did you get to? I get what you mean about changing goal weight. I’ve gone from a goal of 8.10 to 8.7 to 8. And I’m already starting on what about 7.12 or 7.10…

StarShapedWindow · 12/05/2025 10:36

@WellyBootsandPuddleSuits wow! Thats amazing, 6 stone in 28 weeks 🎉🎉 - I am in awe! You must feel like a different person and I hope you’re really enjoying your summer clothes.

@Mounjaropen You made me lol with your comment on how skinny you’d look if you got down to your 18 yr old self weight! I think you’re very much too harsh on yourself! I read so many reviews before purchasing Absolute Collagen and didn’t see anything about how vile they tasted - only that some flavours were better than others. You’re obviously a better researcher than me! I also have all Rukmini Iyer’s books - except the sweet one - thanks so much for the recipe recommendation- I’ll try that one tonight!

@jay55 I find hunger totally bearable - it’s the food noise that I find so difficult. I have eaten many times in my life just to shut up the constant food noise. I will not give into it ever again, I will see it as an annoying whinny child and will totally ignore it 🤞

@SerenePeer how exciting to have the Ziip Halo! Please let us know if it makes a difference to you. Good luck with the 10mg pen. My body reacted badly to 10mg so I had to go back to 7.5mg but I might try again in a few weeks.

Hello Everyone.

Wow! I haven't checked in for 3 days, and what an amazing thread of losses and achievements. This is such a great thread, from crop tops to tractors!
I do hope that those with back pain are starting to feel a little better. I hurt my back quite badly in January (ironic as I had managed not to hurt my back during decades of nursing, but did so after retiring!). Once I was able, The gentle exercises I was given by the physio have really helped to strengthen my core and back.

I have always had a tendency to getting constipated. One of my 'go to' remedies is linseeds, a couple of teaspoons on a salad/in a yoghurt etc. 3 prunes are essential and I always take a small packet away with me, when staying away from home, so that I can top up with them if there is less than ideal roughage on the menu. On the advice of a Dr I also keep Senna tablets. If I have not been that day, I take one in the evening. Only need to take one every couple of weeks or so. It is not ideal as a regular thing as it can make ones bowel 'lazy'. But it does work.
Of course prevention is always better than cure, when starting MJ I also got some Psyllium capsules which I take every morning with a large glass of water, I have really concentrated on fibre with my protein, drink lots and lots of water and avoid any white carbs.

Over the weekend, at a family party, someone mentioned how great I was looking. (Nice). Then another person commented on the fact I was not eating the pastry on my plate (rude!). Instead of saying my usual thing, which is that I am allergic to wheat, I was like a rabbit in the headlights and blurted out I had lost weight and wanted to lose some more. She replied 'I hope you are not taking those horrible weight loss drugs!' I wittered on about healthy eating and exercise. I just get so defensive about my weight and what I eat, when people comment it makes all sensible thought vanish.

NSV, I am really aware of my 'melted candle' areas, and also where I am still storing fat, so have to keep reminding myself of how well I have done. However DD took a photo of me at the weekend and WOW! I was so surprised at how much slimmer I look.

I hope you all have a lovely day and a successful week on and off the scales.

evilharpy · 12/05/2025 10:54

I am back in one of my favourite pairs of jeans!! Size 12 straight leg acid wash ones from George to be precise, admittedly they are from when I was previously carrying about an extra stone but I always kept them as I loved them so much. They are not even tight woo hooo!!

SerenePeer · 12/05/2025 11:25

Mounjaropen · 12/05/2025 09:14

ooh I might try my nuface on my problem areas too! No idea why I didn’t think of that myself😂

it’s jab day today for me and I’m actually looking forward to the cooling effect tonight. Had a rubbish night sleep because I was just so bloody hot! (Although possibly also down to the amount of alcohol my body was processing 🤣).

We can compare notes! I do have a nuface but Im a magpie and like a shiny new toy!

Oh gosh, I know what you mean about rabbit in the headlights. I had the same at the gym this morning. A fellow 6am gym goer whose name i don't know but we always smile and wave and pass the odd comment, asked me outright what I'd been doing to look so amazing. I ended up muttering about it being a long hard slog and how I'd just been doing the boring stuff like eating less and moving more 🙈 Felt like such a fraud! But I don't want to start broadcasting my WLI usage!

Happy Monday fellow death jabbers and congratulations to everyone on such great achievements!

I am now happily on 7.5 having suffered through the transition from 5 but I now have zero side effects (first time on any strength) and good suppression. I think this is the dose for me for the time being.

I have also added in some intermittent fasting which I think broke my stall and got me below 16 stone - I am now 15 stone 8! Which means 3 stone lost since the end of November. The last time I was at that weight was nearly 30 years ago...

It was my birthday on Saturday so I had an unaccustomed few glasses of wine and a g&t on the Friday night, god did I suffer through Saturday! I also went out to eat quite a few times, so felt a bit nervous not counting on My Fitness Pal but saw it as a pre-maintenance test, choosing healthier things than previously and also finding I couldn't finish things but was pleasantly full. I think I managed to roughly stick to my calorie deficit apart from the mini booze fest LOL. I am not going to weigh in this week so as not to depress myself and take my NSV of having to go to the next fastening as my bra was too loose - the same bra that lived in the back of my drawer until about 6 weeks ago as it was far too tight on any fastening!

Ooh we’re birthday twins! I fell off the food wagon over the weekend and am also going to avoid weighing for the next few days unless my curiosity gets the better of me! My suppression on 7.5 had completely worn off so it meant I could eat anything which was probably a bit of a mistake! I’ve gone up to 9 as of yesterday though so will hopefully be back on track this week. And the difference as others have said before is that it’s easy to get straight back on it after a (very enjoyable) blip.

Hope everyone has a great week. And @Mounjaropen i loved the Magda/Something About Mary reference 🤣

KateERxx · 12/05/2025 14:23

I've lost 12 pounds now since being on Mounjaro since the 4th April so just over 5 weeks which I'm so chuffed about. Before Mounjaro it took me 4 months to lost 14 pounds since 1st Jan! I'm so close to the two stone mark now.
I also went on a cruise last week and didn't take my second dose of 5mg before I went as didn't want to risk the side effects or not enjoy myself to the fullest, to my surprise though I didn't put on a single amount of weight!
Honestly it's been the absolute best thing for me (and my husband who is also 2 stone done this year) and I'm the lightest I've been in over 2 years. Worth every penny.

Morning. New week, new me and all that.

Am .5kg down, up from my midweek disaster, but a loss is finally a loss.
Had first 10mg this morning. Will see how it goes.

Had my usual hunger yesterday but not much food noise, I did finally finish my Easter egg so it didn’t last til Christmas but lasting past the bank holiday is an achievement.

Well done to those who have busted through their goal weight. Maybe next year I’ll be able to join you.

Well done on the loss! Keep going! 💪

I actually started the jabs in September last year but is been a very slow journey for me. I'm on 12.5mg now and I don't think I get the same level of suppression that others describe. I also don't get really awful side effects so there's that!

I'm 55 years old now and I can honestly say I've thought about my size every day since I was a child. even when with hindsight I can see I wasn't that big. I've been to dieting clubs for years. I did have success with weightwatchers about 20 years ago but had another child and put the weight back on. It's been a losing battle since and lockdown combined with a lot of serious family stress saw 2 stones going on. I've done calorie counting, Fast 800, Intermittent fasting, keto, healthy eating with lots of plants and no UPFs and who knows what else. Ive read more diet books than I can count. I think when I started the jabs I just wanted a rest from it and the feeling of constantly fighting myself and losing so I really haven't been trying very hard and miraculously I've still slowly lost 2 stones!

I need to knuckle down now though and lean in to actually making it happen. I'm an emotional eater, and in the habit of eating to procrastinate or when I move from one task to another, or when I'm anxious or ......you name it, I'll eat to manage it! The last few months have been really good to help me realise how much I normally do this and how bad I am at keeping routines of regular breakfast and lunch. All the advice with emotional eating is to recognise that it's not hunger and then do something else. Pah! If it was that easy I'd have sorted it years ago! I do feel now that the jabs take the edge off enough for me to deal with things differently. Kind of like anti-depressants take the edge off to help you deal with the cause of depression.

So here I am, I need to work out what my calorie count should be and I need to have a strategy. At my age my body does very weird things with weight loss so I need to accept that. I also don't fully believe that it's possible to go below my current weight or that I'm "allowed" to. My current weight has certainly been a set point in the past.

I kind of feel like I'm just beginning so any advice from you seasoned and successful losers is very much appreciated!
