Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I'm stuck too @TeenLifeMum so just wanted to send some solidarity. But I look back at how far I've come and remember how impossible losing weight has been over the past years and it blows my mind. I've lost almost 3 stones. I never believed i could get to this stage back when I started mj. 🤯

I am overdue an update here and congratulating all the progress being made but, may I ask for some advice for my DW who is researching treatments for tightening up her skin and recovering hair loss since her amazing weight loss.

She is being steered toward Profhilo for the former and Minoxidil for the hair…..any knowledge, experience or views on this……?

Thank you!

congrats to your wife on the loss!

Look back at earlier posts on this thread from @lovealongbath about what to do about hair loss and evaluations of products.

Regarding skin tightening specifically your wife would maybe better at looking at RF (radio frequency) treatments than Profhilo which is more about fine lines, filling and hydration. RF is about heating the cells to stimulate production of collagen and elastin. However, as with all treatments she needs to do her research to ensure that the practitioner has done more than a one day course and has proven results as the treatments need a skilled hand. Anything involving a filler/injectable product has the risk of reacting with the body or migrating and again you’ll only know this after you’ve had it.

Personally I’m starting with lymphatic drainage on my face and body in 2 weeks time with a practitioner who has years of experience in this area. She also offers the option of RF if I choose to have it as an add-on. RF can treat the neck, thighs, stomach etc. She advises that with RF you might need one treatment, or you might need 5 but you’ll only find out after you’ve had the first to see how your skin reacts. She advises against more than one RF treatment in the course of a week and avoid any practitioner that doesn’t use a thermometer.

Not sure if that’s any help?

Morning everyone,

Weekly weigh in on 3.6mg dose..
jab number 2 3

SW 18st 4
CW 15 stone 6.2lbs
1lb loss this week
total loss so far 2 stone 11.7lbs
I have lost 16% of my starting weight
SBMI 43
CBMI 37

Achievements this week ….
steps in the week = 68080

For the past 11 days I have had a rash that has terrible itch.
After ruling out any external factors, I decided it was MJ especially after it really flaring up last Thursday after injecting.
Spoke with MedExpress and they advise going back down to 2.5mg which I am happy to do as I am currently on the 3.5mg and if no reaction I can move back up again. I am awaiting 2.5 pen so won’t inject today and I am happy to wait so what’s in my body has time to dissipate.

So I need to refocus and be mindful of my intake this weekend, this will be interesting!

MedExpress referral code malarkey this week has kept me busy trying to report all my codes, and there were many, but I am confident I have removed them all. I have built up some credit and I really would prefer to keep it.

Well done to everyone on the great losses, we can do this 💪

On the upside to the referral code malarkey… I was sent a discount code by MedExpress yesterday… 🤷‍♀️

Morning all! My weight has crept up quite a bit over this past week (fish and chips by the river on Sunday, I’m looking at you 👀) but seems to have settled again, almost back to the same I was last Friday. Not sure I will see a loss this week (normal weigh day Friday). Hopefully with determination and good meal planning I won’t undo my good work again over the weekend!

I have finally made an appointment to see someone (a doctor) about Botox! Not until the week after next. I’ve been looking at the different clinics out there and feel reassured by the one I’ve chosen. I saw a very good offer at my second choice clinic for Polynucleotides (550 for 3 treatments, normally 800) but then took myself back to the ‘Polynucleotides gone wrong’ thread which has scared me right off again. I did however see they were also recommending Polynucleotides treatment to help with hair loss, for those who may be interested.

I saw the GP on Monday about perimenopause and to discuss HRT. She was mostly supportive but thought I might be a bit young (45 in July!). She’s recommended blood tests to rule out low iron and low thyroid function so having those soon (I say soon, 15th May, apparently there is a backlog on blood tests) and then back to discuss as needed. She said we could trial HRT and see if makes a difference. She did seem knowledgeable so that was good.

Hope everyone is doing ok. I’m wearing a dress today I couldn’t wear last year at all (due to me being too big for it), have applied some fake tan, and am trying to make myself do work rather than keep popping out to the garden 😂

If I had my time again, I’d have gone on HRT at 45 so I think you are right to give it a trial. For me, the game changer was testosterone but I appreciate It’s not for everyone.

Good luck with the Botox Doctor! Sounds exciting. I’ve decided to go down the lymphatic massage route (after the Zoe Ball post on Instagram last week) with a course of RF. See my reply above to @MounjNewb the whole polynucleotides gone wrong thread was enough to put me off! I have a friend whose fillers went terribly wrong in her lips…

W25 D1

SW 90kg
CW 68.4kg
loss this week 0.7kg

I’ve been mostly good this week and have stuck to eating clean and increased protein. I was a bit naughty yesterday and had pastry which led to a 0.3kg increase on yesterday 😂

i took 5mg last week after a month on 7.5 and I have coped with it, so will jab again with 5 and see how it goes. I’m not sure where to stop, I still have fat on my tummy and inner thigh but am going to try to strike a balance, so think I’m about 1-2kg away from where I want to end up.

my BMI is 22 and I have my maintenance call in a month. So will play it by ear week by week as to whether I taper down or stay at 5.

Well done to everyone, even if you aren’t losing you are investing in yourself and creating good habits-the scales will shift eventually 👏

woohoo BMI of 22! How fabulous! 💪

My maintenance call with Oushk isn't until June.. Hopefully MedExpress will be happy to continue to prescribe until then....

OP posts:
Della82 · 01/05/2025 11:55

I have 4 doses (including tonight) and another 5mg pen-I stocked up when oushk had lots of offers on so I won’t run out before my maintenance call.

i think titrating down and then micro dosing will be my strategy-I had swelling on knees and ankles before MJ and am hoping they won’t return!

MsRumpole · 01/05/2025 12:06

Right, I think I have identified my go-to Mounjaro breakfast!

Half a can of cannelini beans, drained, stir in a tablespoon of chilli paste (crispy chilli oil, harissa, gochuchang, whatever you like or have in), fry then in EV olive oil for 3 mins. Make two wells in the beans, break in 2 large eggs, I then put a lid in so that they set, eat with half an avocado and some cherry tomatoes on the side. 26 grams of protein, 10 grams of fibre. (might have to go down to half portions when I go up to 7.5mg!)

That sounds delicious!

It was! I was feeling a bit anxious about how much I'd eaten until I remembered that it was lunchtime and I'd had no breakfast!

MsRumpole · 01/05/2025 13:40

PS I had a banana afterwards and feel like I'm teetering on the brink of insanity foodwise, but it does mean I've got in 28 g of protein and nearly 13g fibre - I think fibre is particularly difficult on Mounjaro because it involves eating plant-based sources of protein which then potentially leaves one worried about getting sufficient protein. So confusing.

Have found it now - it’s 23.5. Need to think about that one.

Oceangrey · 01/05/2025 16:02

That breakfast sounds delicious.

I have to say I'm impressed at all of the exercise and good eating you're all doing.

I don't generally eat badly but while some meals are great, last night we basically ran out of food so ate the dregs of the freezer (fish fingers, hash browns), and I had a spinach pastry out for lunch today. Ocado delivery tomorrow fortunately!

Exercise I stopped for a few weeks but have done a couple of quick dumbbell sessions this week which feels better.

I'm fairly short at 5'3 and in spite of eating pretty 'normally' it's been a steady loss over the last 6 months of a little over a lb per week, which is a bit slow, but fine.

Very busy at work and don't have the ability to work out every day or plan every meal, so I'm just happy it's still working.

LilyRose88 · 01/05/2025 17:16

Thought I would give a quick update about my experience with Asda (aka Zava). My BMI is now under 25 but I am not quite at goal weight (have adjusted my goal downwards due to some stubborn fat around my post menopausal middle!).
When I ordered my usual 7.5 mg pen last week I entered my height and weight as normal and got a message saying they needed dated photos of my weight, and front and side profile. They also mentioned me going on to a maintenance dose.
I uploaded the photos and also sent them a message saying that I wanted to lose a bit more and get my BMI down to 22 as I am still carrying weight around my middle. They then approved my order but didn't comment on my goal weight or going down to a maintenance dose. To be fair the photos were pretty grim as I wore a tight pair of jeans to highlight the muffin top. I'm sure they have a good laugh at our unflattering photos 😂.
I've been trying on shorts as it's so warm but sadly my legs look silly as I've lost quite a bit of weight from them. They stick out of the shorts like two, well, sticks! Not sure what I can do about that, I guess its just old-lady syndrome.

AlwaysTimeForWine · 01/05/2025 17:34

Hello all. So brilliant to catch up with how everyone is getting on. Well done all!

I am down 3st 7lbs so far, with half a stone of that being on my own before MJ.

SW 16st 3.5 with BMI 33.6
CW 12st 10 with BMI 26.4

My weight has hugely stalled in April, only losing 1.6lbs in the whole month which was very frustrating. I was only on 4mg though.

So I increased to 5mg at the weekend and I can already see an affect on my hunger levels and ability to stay below my calorie target. I’m not quite eating enough to fuel my sport though so am adding some more carbs in.

I really want to get to 11st 4 which would be a BMI of 23.4. I haven’t been that since my early 20s and I don’t think I’ll get there to be honest. So I just keep ticking along and fingers crossed the increased dose helps.

People have started to say annoying things like “oh you look so slim, you don’t need to lose anymore, you’ll look too skinny”.

They just got so used to seeing fat me that they can’t handle it now. It’s so funny. Trust me - I’m 5ft 9, size 8 feet, big shoulders and have a decent muscle mass. There is no chance I am anywhere near skinny 😂 and never will be.

I am not even back to the weight I was inbetween DD 2 and DD3 - I have another 6lbs to get there. Now that will be a milestone when I get there!!

never say never about getting to weights that you haven’t seen since your 20s… I think a lot of us are quite surprised how near to our 20s self weights we are! Don’t forget to keep an eye on your inch loss on the months that you are stalling, it does help keep the motivation!

Well at least you got the prescription even if it felt invasive. I very much doubt any pharmacist worth their registrations is commenting on your weight so please don’t worry.

The weight around the middle is just a bugger to shift isn’t it?!
