Mounjaro starters Nov ‘24 Thread 10 - The one where we are very nearly beach body ready 🥳

Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I thought this thread had died. I haven't been on here for months.
im 63 and started on 13th November at 15 stone and I'm now 11.11 stone so 3 stone 3lbs down.
I'm looking quite slim now and had to buy all new clothes.
I need to get down to 9 and a half stone then I'm going for a face lift.

Right, I think I have identified my go-to Mounjaro breakfast!

Half a can of cannelini beans, drained, stir in a tablespoon of chilli paste (crispy chilli oil, harissa, gochuchang, whatever you like or have in), fry then in EV olive oil for 3 mins. Make two wells in the beans, break in 2 large eggs, I then put a lid in so that they set, eat with half an avocado and some cherry tomatoes on the side. 26 grams of protein, 10 grams of fibre. (might have to go down to half portions when I go up to 7.5mg!)

This sounds delicious!

MounjNewb · 02/05/2025 06:09

Lots in the press this morning about free WLI on the NHS from pharmacies……details to be unveiled soon apparently.

Whattodowithaminute · 02/05/2025 06:55

I’m back on track having had a little wobble.
joined pvolve this morning as I do have a lot of time where I’m at home and could exercise. Thought I’d do the first month of subscription to evaluate use and justify ongoing spend and then buy equipment as I go… just done a 20 min active stretch class which felt good and I’m getting regular strength training work through the reformer.

Well done getting back on track!

I’d recommend starting with the transformation bundle specific starter programme where you learn steadily how to use the equipment effectively. Then I highly recommend following the specific GLP-1 programme. My muscle mass has steadily increased (it’s 67.2% today) whilst following it and it has had an effect on reducing my apron tummy (still there sadly…😩)

I saw that too. The report stated that more than a quarter of all adults in the population are classed as obese. The NHS has to do something because guidelines are not working, clearly!

Going to do a month equipment first to build the habit of regular home exercise, if I do this then I will invest in the equipment. £25 a month felt manageable to trial this, transformation bundle at > £700 felt too much as a first step! Have some basic home equipment already which I can trial too

Fair enough. I thought you had bought the equipment already. The GLP-1 programme requires non-Pvolve specific equipment so ankle weights (1.5lbs or 3lbs), dumbbells (5lbs, 10lbs in general) cushion mat and the precision mat (the grid one) the precision mat is useful for foot positioning but isn’t essential for that calendar. I can measure the grid sizes for you if that helps? The pvolve-specific equipment- pball/pband/p3 trainer/gliders/slant board are great for replicating the reformer-style Pilates movements.

Happy Friday death jabbers! I'm ridiculously pleased with myself for booking all the Fridays before a bank holiday off and now have a long weekend to sort shit out!

Scales teased me with a mini drop yesterday only to bounce back up this morning. I was all ready to have a tantrum but then as I walking the dogs it struck me....I must now be eating exactly what I need to maintain my weight. This feels huge - I'm not counting calories, I'm not tracking, I'm just listening to my hunger and indulging in a few treats here and there. But most importantly, I'm not gaining weight! So massive reframe. I'm at a weight my body is comfortable with and I'm eating to maintain it. That's good! But I still have some weight i want to lose. So I need to start thinking of strategies to get myself back into a calorie deficit. I really don't want to track my calories - i can't face it after years of failing. So I need to tighten up on my one meal a day protocol...that's morphed into one meal plus a snack or two and the odd pudding. And go back to being strict with using a smaller plate. That should get things moving again.

In other news, I started listening to Food Noise by Dr Jack Mosley. It started very much as an advert for his dad's books (fair enough although annoying if you're not a fan). What's annoyed me though is the assumption that all of us on WLI are still eating junk food but just in smaller quantities. That's absolute bollocks. I can't tolerate high fat food in large quantities on MJ and I struggle to eat red meat until 5 or 6 days post jab! The delayed gastric emptying just doesn't allow for it! There's no way I would survive on fast food while on MJ. I'd never be off the loo! I'll persevere a bit longer with the book and see if there any actual useful info in there

Well enjoy your day off!

I’ve been fine so far eating red meat, although I think I’m probably eating less of it currently because I can’t be arsed to cook a roast dinner when there’s just two of us… it’ll beInteresting to hear your thoughts on the book, the extracts I’ve read seemed to make sense I’m probably accurately reflected my eating habits before MJ.

I think it’s brilliant that you have recognised what is working for you. Currently, I have my main meal at lunchtime followed by a plate of fruit and then I sit down with a coffee and maybe one small square of dark chocolate and two of my four dates for the day to give me a little boost. If I am feeling a bit peckish, I have the remaining couple of dates in the evening but if I fancy an apple or more fruit, I do have it. And that works for me. I definitely think I’ve changed my eating habits, especially with respect to alcohol as I now regard a Friday night as another alcohol free evening. Previously, I’d have counted Thursday evening as being the start Of the bank holiday weekend….! I definitely think that daily weighing has kept me focused.

Meanwhile, DH (who does need to lose weight for medical reasons) has lost less than a stone since November. This morning he was been moaning the fact that he’d put weight on this week. However, he was at a function yesterday which served beige food, and every meal this week he has asked for has been quite quite heavy. I know when I go and watch MAFS Australia (don’t judge, me and DD watch it and then discuss it afterwards) he ferrets about in the treat cupboard, and this morning I found an empty family pack of giant buttons in the bin. So I think if he’s honest with himself and actually locked his calories, he would have the answer right in front of his eyes… I think he also overestimates how many calories extra he can eat above his BMR because he has exercised that day. It’s frustrating, but he can’t go on WLI because of some meds he has to take occasionally. He also does not like feeling hunger pants!

Playing tennis today, looking forward to catching some vitamin D whilst I do so!

Happy Friday everyone!

Happy Friday and long weekend everyone

Well, 0.2lbs off this week. Hey ho. Suspected as much! I have been eating more (trying to finish off this cough / cold and give myself a bit more energy) so hopefully it is just one of those weeks.

Work is getting busier and I’m trying to get my brain to engage more. I’ve just started taking lion’s mane, does anyone else use it? Also a fancier version of magnesium than the one I had before (I ordered lots of bits from Nutrition Geeks!).

We go away to a Center Parcs 2 weeks on Monday (never been before!) and in my head I want to be 12 stone something.. this morning I was 13 stone 2.8 so it’s definitely achievable. I think I have a bit of a psychological barrier about seeing 12 on the scale again. This week a few people have commented on how much slimmer I look (and this was on Teams haha). I think my face and body has started showing the difference more.

jay55 · 02/05/2025 10:08

Happy Friday all. I’m so happy for a three day weekend.
Lost my water weight from Aunt Flo the last two days and back to my low. Barely eaten this week, heat plus suppression makes food totally unappealing. Weird.

Had side effects Tuesday that were bad, ended in being sick in the night, despite not having eaten since lunch. But then I was fine, barely a burp since. And usually I have 2-3 days of burps.

Investigating gyms still. Know I need to get working limbs more. Not made the plunge yet.

Well done to all who have lost and all who are sticking with it through stalls.

Yes I'll submit my book review in due course! Some lovely stats around what losing just 5% of your body weight can do and a good reminder of why we need to pick up those weights so far....

Enjoy tennis in the sunshine! I used to be like your dh and massively overestimate what I could eat because I'd exercise while also massively underestimating my actual consumption! Oh how times have changed now the food noise has been turned down!

This week takes me past 50 pounds lost. I can't believe I'm a big poo away from being in the 15s again! Even when I set 15st 4 as my second goal it felt so far off.
Next week should also get my BMI below 35. The excitement of being just overweight is a way off still but getting back to basic level obese will be great.
Blood clot news was pretty positive when it comes to Mounjaro. The doctor checked and agreed that they are not a known side effect, so unlikely that it's related. And no problem with me continuing to take it alongside the anticoagulants.
I also got a well done when I told her what I'd lost to date and she agreed that continuing to lose weight helps reduce the risk of clots. I'm seeing haematology at the end of the month, so they may say different, but promising so far.

Love this thread

"hunger pants" & "a big poo away from the 15s" 🤣

Glad the clots news is positive @PinkArt

my DH is so nutritionally illiterate it's terrifying @Mounjaropenhe has a tendency to announce he's not very hungry so planning a light meal like "bacon & eggs" 🫠 (served in morning rolls obviously). Nearly 30yrs & I still have to coach him to eat vegetables with his meals -even the kids point it out to him & I've only been training them for half of that time!

Della82 · 02/05/2025 13:08

My OH lives on beige food and fizzy drinks but maintains that he is fit, healthy and not overweight! He’s put on 15kg in 4 years but cannot see it. Vegetables will only be eaten under duress unless peas or sweetcorn 😂😂😂

I don’t know how I can get him to see his diet is poor. He eats so many UPFs and since I started jabbing we rarely eat the same meal.

BlueWalker · 02/05/2025 13:33

Just thought I'd pop into the thread to mention a new treaty thing. Vimto ice poles. Poundland. £1 (no surprise there!) for 10. 18 calories a pole and they are really Vimto-y, not like normal ice pops where halfway through you feel like you've sucked all the flavour out. So if you like Vimto and a slower sucker type sweet treat, I can recommend them. And plums. I've got really into plums again. Although I'm not sucking those.

Will do! I’ve bought some creatine to try too, but not yet started it (phasing all these new things in bit by bit). I got the My Protein creatine (rather, the man in Holland & Barrett selected it for me). I used to think H&B was such a dull shop but I could have spent hours in there last weekend 😂

TeenLifeMum · 02/05/2025 13:49

So today I’m back to 10st 4 after a couple of wobbly weeks. I also have a cold and feel rough. My body telling me to rest I think. I did call in sick to work yesterday but I’m working from home today (having a quiet 5 minutes in the sun before the next meeting).

Not as impressive a loss as some on here - some of you are really amazing! But I’m happy to have lost 33lbs since the start. I don’t seem to be having side effects from the jabs anymore although I don’t eat much fatty food. My sweet tooth is still here but I can have one chocolate rather than 6.

family lunch tomorrow - buffet style… that’ll be a test but I will aim to make good choices.
