Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I've lost 38lbs so far, since November. The major hair loss has only started in the last few weeks and is getting increasing steadily. About to do a major supplement order. I've been very good on the protein intake but hadn't taken any supplements. On the whole supplements seem to make me feel quite quesy and nauseous so i avoided them because I felt pretty nauseous on the MJ. Google seems to say that hair loss should improve in a few months if it's caused by weight loss. It seems to be common for people who've had gastric bypasses also since the diet has such a major change.

Do you take meds/hormones/supplements in the evening? I prefer to in case I feel nauseous - at least I can legitimately have a lie down!

They were the first slimming club I tried in the 90s, gave me a massive appetite with all the 'free' pasta etc. Meant I whacked on the weight when I added in non diet toppings.

Then I went to Weight Watchers which did help me lose about 2 stone but it was so unsustainable and sugar heavy (meringues were half a 'point' each so I had loads but remained starving hungry most of the time, I remember going to bed with teeth cleaned at about 8 to avoid eating anything else).

They also went on about muscle weighing more than fat and to not exercise if you weren't losing weight.

I used to take Dulcolax I didn't need before each weigh in to make sure I was the lightest I could be :-( Just unhealthy places which definitely encouraged disordered eating in me.

Edited

Bloody hell - reminds me of the ‘advice’ dished out on Fat Friends by Janet at ‘Super Slimmers’. I’m sorry that happened to you.

I'm going to try taking the supplements and vitains that I've ordered after my dinner. I only take magnesium and an anti histamine at the moment. Having a lie down after taking them might help. It's a horrible feeling when you can taste the vitamin/supplement tablets all ady and the possibility that they might reappear in not a good way.

Thank you everyone for all the good advice. Hoping to have hair like Rapunzel in a few months 🙂

Oh really? That’s annoying! I was happily banking my 20g! Ah oh well.

Have ordered some protein powder from Boots today (£10 Tuesday! They also have bio oil lotion as recommended by @Mounjaropen for £10 too - just 175ml bottles but still cheaper than normal).

I have to admit I get excited every Tuesday to see what is on offer 🤭

ooh thanks for that tip. I was somewhat put off £10 Tuesday when I last looked and the first item was some form of butt plug. I assumed after that I was not their target audience 😂

I was buying bio oil body lotion for £20 for 250ml on Ocado so it is a better deal. I sort of fell down a beauty rabbit hole and also bought a micro needle device on Boots (£15) as I read the use of one can stimulate collagen production so plan to attack my festoon thighs and stomach with it. Seems cheaper than paying a beautician to do the same….🤞🏻

If anyone is looking at neck creams, the PRAI duo (AM and PM formulas) is on offer at very for £39 for the 2 x 50ml set.

I also replenished my Oskia Vit c calpsules at Look Fantastic (£54 rather than £72) for 2 months’ supply.

Thank you @Goldleafcat. I've ordered 3 different lots of protein powder on the tenner tuesday. I'd forgotton about the tuesday deals. that should up the protein intake nicely.

I need to go bra shopping on friday. My bras are very empty and sad looking. I sorted them all out last night and I'm putting them up in the loft. (just in case, there's too much money spent on them if I ver need the bigger size again) Any tips on where to go for cheapish everyday bras please? I will need to try them on because I've no idea what size I am now. I was a 32F but looking more like a B cup now.

I reckon you might need to reduce your back size now. I’d start by looking at 30 inch bands and a bigger cup. You’ll have a lot more choice than previously so try the usual suspects - M&S etc.

My go to is the Panache envy - good value for bigger cup sizes.

I got a black and pink pair in a set from Matalan. They were very much a ‘they will do for now’ set as my old ones were big and baggy 😂 but now I’m a smaller 32f they’ve actually been fine. I was expecting the straps to hurt and dig in but they’ve become my everyday bras.

I was fitted at Rigby and Peller years ago and received life-changing advice to wear the band tight in order to save your shoulders bearing the weight and providing support. Made a huge difference.

Is m&s still down online after the cyber attack?
im going to get some petite linen blend trousers from new look for now I think.

i still think getting my boobs into a fitted 10 dress might be pushing it. But fingers crossed I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

dragging my suitcase of summer clothes I don’t wear down to see if there is anything suitable.

just ordered running shorts and a vest. Who do I think I am? 😂🙈

In a meeting today an external colleague asked if I had meant to lose such a vast amount of weight, or had I been ill. She is European and often has a funny turn of phrase so I’m going to assume it was a compliment 😂

Bloody hell - I’m sure that was lost in translation.

Sorry I forgot M&S was down. Looks like a ransomware attack so you might have to wait a while.

Oh that’s disappointing… I also log it though.

Maybe we should all start taking tryptophan with it to make it a complete protein 🤣

Arglefraster · 29/04/2025 18:17

😱 @CantbesureI'm sure that was meant as a cautious complement!!
Is she Dutch?

Ah I think it's a really charming compliment! 'I want to say you look great but I want to check it's good weight loss, not horrible illness weight loss, first'.

Cantbesure · 29/04/2025 19:04

She’s Spanish @Arglefrasterand she’s very nice @Mounjaropenbut it did make me laugh! I definitely seem to have suddenly tipped into my loss being very noticeable as it’s been commented on a lot. Apart from by my sister who has refused to comment!
M&S must be losing a fortune. Just as they were flavour of the month too.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 29/04/2025 20:02

I feel really angry on behalf of M&S. They were doing so well and some bloody juvenile delinquent hackers come along and ruin it. I tried to order a pair of brown suede ballet pumps yesterday but they’re still not taking online orders so I’ll have to wait until I can go into a store at the weekend.

Poor M&S, years in the doldrums, finally get their act together and now this. They really can’t catch a break can they? Completely agree @TooExtraImmatureCheddar it’s hardly like they’re Amazon is it?

Panache envy is one of my favourite styles. Don’t want to spend loads of money on bras at the moment in case size changes again. Also want to wait until I can get somewhere that does proper fitting. I had a fitting before at Bravissimo and they were fabulous.

It took considerable time, but I reported every “spam” post with my referral code
and they have all been deleted.
It was an arduous task, but a task I was willing to invest the time to complete as I have accrued credit which I didn’t want to lose as any discount has been helpful.

I also did this. I double checked by entering my code into the advanced search bar also. 🤞

I dug out my old bras recently and found that they are still a bit lacking in the cup size. And they were a 32I… 🙈

I have pm you links to your codes that I could see.

just 1 or 2 on each thread.

I had to pay subscription yesterday as I had so many , it was a god send as I had extra tools to find them quickly .

This is what you'd posted:

Ok so I’ve been in hospital for 2 months, I have lost 4 stone since beginning in Nov, but obviously I haven’t been able to have jabs (last one 14th Feb). All the consultants I spoke to -and there has been a lot- have been incredibly supportive, the nephrology consultant even went as far as having my discharge notes say that I ‘would benefit from continuing mounjaro’ and that he didn’t believe I should have to pay for it.

so full of hope I skipped off to the GP on Monday (I was discharged on Good Friday)

can anyone guess what the GP said?

i’m working at the moment but I will be back soon to update and elaborate…

oh and if feels good to be back in the land of the living 🙂

God love you. You are not shit. Are you using the app or a web browser? I only use a web browser as it is easier to follow (for me anyway) I tried to fill up the old thread to avoid anyone posting on it who might want a bit of support but then had my account temporarily stopped 😞

Sorry to hear you have been unwell but congratulations on losing 4 stone! Awesome result.

Obviously your GP said no - doesn't mean you stop there, can you go back to the consultant and ask him to prescribe? Or ask the practice head to review the clinical decision? Consultant advice in general does trump a GP's?
