Welcome to thread 10 to fellow MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we’ve successfully navigated Easter and head towards Summer Holiday Season. Stop here to celebrate NSV’s, weight loss milestones and admire our new svelte frames!

I’m on W25 D1 and on my second 7.5mg pen

F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 10st 9lbs
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I can)
Total loss so far 44lbs

We recommend the Shotsy app to monitor the amount of MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for managing side effects, exercise tips, tips for maintenance, titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

It’s very thoughtful if it is a gift 🥰

I once messaged all my close friends thanking them for the very thoughtful gift of 2 box seats to see a comedian I find funny. Turns out it was a drunk purchase by me 😂

Other drunk purchases (excluding clothes because they don’t count) have included a slice (one slice! ) of a 17 layer (yep 17) chocolate cake which cost £18 including delivery. Then the time I needed furniture for a party I was hosting in one of my out buildings and I accidentally won 10 poseur tables and 30 bar stools on eBay (no hiding those from DH 🤣)

I panic bought a slice of Bertha when it came into stock, due to all the hype 😭 despite being on MJ

I think if you’re at the stage of jeans looking saggy and weird you’ve definitely gone down at least one dress size and possibly two. Jeans look quite nice slouchy and loose, so if they’ve gone past that then you should try some different sizes - you might get a very pleasant surprise!

I might try the size down. My fave jeans are my Sainsbury’s mom ones and the crotch is hanging way lower than acceptable even with a belt.

Anewdawnanewname · 27/04/2025 19:41

What time do you all weigh yourselves? I weigh at 7:30pm on a Sunday, although I’m sat in my phone and haven’t yet! But I stick to that as that’s what I did on my first weigh in, and I wish I’d started in the mornings as I’m usually 4-5lbs lighter in the morning. Would always be closer to the next bracket down 😂

When I get up before I eat or drink anything. And again if I get up and go straight to the gym as I’ve normally sweated a good half a pound extra off 🤭

ALWAYS first thing in the morning. Naked. After my wee and before my coffee.

Hi everyone.

SW - 157 lb’s
CW - 127 lb’s
GW - 115 lb’s

height - 4’10

I’m really struggling at the moment! On my 2nd pen of 7.5 and am having days of soooooo much good noise and no will power.

In the last month I’ve only lost a couple of poubds

I’m also shedding a lot of hair and have been since February and have developed painful bursitis in my right hip/thigh.

Feeling a bit down with it all.

You’ve lost 30lbs. That’s fabulous! Would you consider going up a dose? I’ve just moved to 10mg. I’m a similar height, currently at 117lbs and considering 112 as my target.

There’s some great advice on hair loss earlier on this thread. Bursitis sounds painful, is there anything you can do to relieve it?

I’d just change to weighing in the morning and congratulate myself on a stonking good weight loss that week 😂

Ditto. Ideally after a poo too. That she one downside of mounjaro - my bowels used to be far too regular so I could guarantee going before a weigh in!

Same! I used to have a poo first thing whether I had a cuppa or not but not anymore.

I only weigh once a week, on a Friday.

I think I’m going to have a real loose skin problem as my weight goes down. My legs are already starting to look like melted candle wax around the inner thigh. Makes me sad what I have done to my body 🙁

What kind of exercise do you do?

Tbh I've found little motivation for exercise lately, as I don't eat enough and don't have much energy.

However, I'm about to start lifting heavy again, and hoping that this will resolve it. My thighs prior were a tad chubbier but had a nice shape to them and minimal visible cellulite, which is quite bad now, so I'll report back on what the lifting does!

LindtCurves · 27/04/2025 23:38

Anewdawnanewname · 26/04/2025 17:15

I also have had my eyes opened to this, I was trying to articulate it to someone the other day. I think I’ve always just thought that 2000cals meant I could eat loads and didn’t take into account my height. I was tracking cals before I started on MJ and thought I’d be losing at 1800 cals but I wasn’t, I’ve had to drop right down to 1350ish.

Indeed, the basic metabolic rate is a lie with the 2000 :)

I've had mine professionally done a fair few times and mine is around 1400, dropped now that I weigh less. And I'm not super short or anything.

My mum has always eaten much less than other adults, not to weight managed, just smaller appetite, and we are similar weight and height.

So imagine someone with a BMR of 1500 tops who is quite sedentary thinking they 'need' 2000 calories a day... It can only go one way!

TeenLifeMum · 27/04/2025 23:46

Thank you @Mounjaropen for the bio oil lotion tip! I’m currently on week 4 of IPL laser treatment on my legs (and armpits and chin because I’m growing a fucking beard apparently). My shins are often dry and cracked looking but the bio oil is fab!

Weight loss does mean I can see my weird swelling on my lower left shin. I fell down the stairs 16 years ago rushing in stupid stilettos after work and fell top to bottom. Amazingly, nothing was broken but that bit of my leg never looked the same. When I gained weight it kind of evened out but I can see it again now (not sure anyone else would notice).

Family party next Saturday so I think I’ll calorie count this week in the hope of losing 1-2lbs. I did run 5k this afternoon (slowly but need to avoid injury). It was faster than last time and steady running with no walking so that’s a success. Need to try to run 2-3 times a week… it’s fab for tummy muscles.

Always first thing in the morning before any food and drink in pjs (very light cotton shorts and top) and then every so often after a massive poo I might feel the urge to weigh 😂

I can’t really blame mj for messing up my bowels as the iron tablets did that. I miss my good old, satisfying, morning poop.

i've been lurking for a while but thought i'd pop in about a couple of things.

firstly i've hit my goal weight! my bmi is in the healthy category which is where i knew i needed to be psychologically.
down from 89kg to 69.6kg. i had been stuck at 72/73 kg for about 8 weeks but have been ill this week which has shifted the last lump (wouldn't recommend it as a weight loss technique as i honestly have lost a week of my life!) but i need to ensure it doesn't creep back now.

i'd decided to up to 10mg (before i was ill) to deal with the plateau which arrived yesterday. and also a box of 7.5mg also arrived yesterday.

i'm with voy and have checked my bank and only been billed for the 10mg. i've been honest and emailed them to say but surely they won't want one sending back as they can't be sure of the cold chain once delivered to me and i can't see how i can post it back under any sort of controlled conditions?

anyone had this happen?

i hope they say to keep it and then i've got enough to stick to 7.5mg and eek both out well into maintenance and then taper down in to the summer.

another question for the wise - if i keep it in the fridge after opening will it last longer than the 30 days? i've always done the bonus dose with a needle which does mean using it just over the 30 days. but if i used the 10mg as a 5 and had it open twice as long what would the consequences be? hope that makes sense!

hope everyone is doing well and keep on keeping on

Sorry to hear about being ill. Hope you feel better soon. congratulations on achieving target tho! Amazing! 👏👏

I think the efficacy of the drug diminishes once opened whether cool or not so personally I wouldn’t go past the recommended use by instructions which I think is 30 days once opened?

Morning all. I’m having a post Easter plateau, which is fair enough. Went away for a few days with the kids and did succumb to lots of bad food, cake, wine etc. less than I would normally eat, but still not great. Then a massive Easter weekend family lunch. My stomach was very unhappy at various points due to the fat and alcohol.

back on track now, and I didn’t put anything on which was a miracle really, but the weight has been stuck. Hopefully this week things will move again! Still on 5mg, and it is still pretty effective, so going to stick on it for another month.

Meanwhile I have been gutting the wardrobe and selling lots of stuff on vinted, and also replenishing the wardrobe on vinted as well. Got a lovely Whistles tiered dress in a size 16 and it looks amazing! I have never shopped in Whistles because it has never fit me before. Got a friend’s wedding in two weeks so feeling pretty pleased with my purchase!!! Only £12 and a white jacket from Oasis for £3!

Ooh congrats on the Vinted haul! Sounds fab! And 👏👏 for no net gain over Easter. Amazing result when we all consider previous years!

Well, I had a fairly horrible night. I took my 5mg pen dose 2 nights early (OK'd by my GP) but I had eaten very badly that day and wish I had waited as I spent last night throwing it all back up. Feeling much better now and was able to manage a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast but it's made me quite anxious about going up to 7.5mg on my next pen.

Edited

Oh no! Why did you decide to jab early? Was there a rationale?

I did 6.25 for one week then went to 7.5 and was fine. Hope you feel better soon 💐

Oh my god my stomach. I have had explosive diarrhoea since Thursday. When will this stop?? Today is my jab day, I was going to titrate back down to 7.5 but I think I might need to postpone entirely for a day or two.

Goodness! Food related do you think? Could anything have set your digestive system off? Hope you feel better soon 💐

Definitely on a plateau as no weight loss again this week.

Even worse - yesterday I just wanted (and did) eat everything in sight.

Am going to increase my dose today to 7.5mg.

We’ll all have days like these. I don’t restrict myself on a Sunday and I’m fine for doing so. Just try and be mindful for this week with nutrition and you’ll be back on track 🥰

I had two eggs this morning in a bid to up my protein intake. It’s a start 😂🤭

Ive just ordered my 3rd 10mg pen, suppression is still really good on this dose and the weight seems to be coming off quite well right now. I’m starting to think about maybe needing smaller clothes. Lots of my jeans etc look awful and saggy but I still don’t actually believe I’ll fit into a smaller size.

Great start on the protein 👏👏👏

Jeans are tricky aren’t they? I wore a pair yesterday that were snug 4 weeks ago and were too big yesterday. And they were low slung. Embrace your new shape and believe you are now slim! 🥳🥳🥳

obviously no good if you're eating boiled eggs but adding one or two egg whites to your two eggs if scrambled eggs/omelette is an easy way to up the protein for few calories 😃
I do struggle with guilt for throwing the yolks away though! (When I priced it up whole eggs were cheaper than a carton of egg whites so the kids get egg yolk cookies more often than they should 🙈)

I tend to make real custard with leftover yolks. Delish in a quick Swiss roll with strawberries or rhubarb as a filling. Or use them in a carbonara for a family dinner? Extra yolks also enhance scrambled eggs or are great for brushing over pastry.

Oh, forgot to say - my twin sister asked me today what I weigh, and when I said 9 stone 13(ish), she said she’s about 9 stone 7. She’s basically my control - has maintained her weight properly her entire life, never been fatter than she is now, etc. So it’s very interesting that her natural set point is about 9 stone 7, which would be a BMI of approx 24. Suggests that perhaps that would be a good place for me to get to.

Fab result! 💪 How interesting being a twin too!
