Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Incredible results everyone!!

weekly weigh in from me

SW. 12.2
CW. 9.8
GW. 8.8 (may stop before then)

Like a lot of you I’m thinking of maintaining and how best to go about it. I’ve been with Voy but 7.5mg is £214 a month, plus no maintenance plan.

I have put an order in with oushk and just waiting to see if they accept it with photo and old box, or if they want to do a video consultation. I’ll save a little every month and be with a pharmacy that offers maintenance.

IHateMozzies · 16/03/2025 23:13

Has anyone took a lower dose for 1 week only?

I’m going out for a bottomless brunch next Sunday - food is bottomless….I have to drive so not going for the alcohol.

I obviously don’t want to eat too much but I would like to have a bit more than normal.

I’ve done two weeks of 6.25 so was thinking about going down to 5 this week, or maybe lower 🤷‍♀️

KentishMama · 17/03/2025 07:17

This article really annoyed me... Basically, "Just eat protein and exercise more". I wish I'd tried that before taking drugs! If only I'd known!

Oh I hear you. The papers are full of guff like this. They veer between ‘death jab’ articles and ‘state the bleeding obvious’ ones. Tbf, The Times does focus on more useful information such as predisposition to weight gain etc which I find interesting.

Thank you for all the kind comments. We’re doing okay and dh is being wonderful as usual.

Meal out last night with friends was lovely - Thai food and I went for a vegetable green curry with a broccoli side. No rice as that always bloats me. I was so full I couldn’t finish it but friends all had desserts so I had a Jasmine tea so I didn’t feel I was missing a course.

2st 2lbs lost (impressed by all the 3st+ losses - I’ve definitely stalled over the last few weeks but still heading in the right direction).

I’m looking forward to the weather warming up so I can get our kayaking - and dh and I can both go in the tandem kayak as we’re under the weight limit now… previously I’ve always taken dc in it but now our combined weight is well under the limit.

Quite a few nsv with nice comments from colleagues at work. I’m rubbish at responding as it feels awkward and they do ask what I’ve been doing - I’m replying “reducing calorie intake and making better choices”, which is true but I don’t mention mj. I would if it was someone genuinely wanting help who was overweight, but not the skinny crowd.

Lovely to hear about the kayaking! I’m hoping to start riding again 🥰

Mmmm 🤔 it’s a difficult one!

I wouldn’t want to risk from Wednesday to Sunday with lower suppression, I would do 5mg then if suppression was poor after your brunch bring the jab day forward .

So many great updates today. I did my official weekly weigh in and was happily surprised to see I'd held my mid-week weight, more or less - 10st 10.25. My original goal weight.

Have decided that I will push on a few more pounds and set myself the long-term goal of sticking between 10st7 and 10st10...

I must say i feel a little bereft in a weird way today - I've taken so much pleasure from the process of losing weight and seeing the weekly progress. I'm going to miss it. Feels now that it's just the work of maintaining now, without the joy of losing. I know - silly thought and 'I should be so lucky'!!

Re-tried to book Oushk consultation this morning (now from 27 May) - payment system still won't work for me. May try someone else!😡

Well done! Let us know if you find an alternative to Oushk that provides maintenance at a reasonable cost.

@TeenLifeMumah I’ve read a few things where people have said it’s not as effective if you start it a second time. Which is a bit of a worry. What dosage was she in when she had to stop? Fingers crossed it works for her when she reaches this again?

@GoldleafcatI thought I was fittish last time as I was running again but I really struggled on the ascent and had to keep stopping. I couldn’t keep up with my friends. Yesterday I was romping up the same hill!

@MounjNewbit must feel fantastic to be at goal. That’s a pain about oushk. I’ve read they are very receptive to messages on whattsapp. But there are other providers in this space now. The section on maintenance on mounj.co.uk is useful.

Thanks for sharing that info about maintenance

I've 20kg to go but emailed my provider Asda recently Re maintenance and the reply was clearly cut and pasted from their Web page but I was pleased it basically said you can either stop cold turkey, tirate down or choose the maintenance dose which works for me and continue so long as BMI doesn't go below 22 ish. It also said if you stop when reach your goal you can restart within 6 months without having to fit the obese criteria. After 6mths off MJ you have to properly Re start and meet the starting criteria

That is interesting about the 6month rule. I wonder if other providers will follow suit?

Interesting that my GP said no need to titrate down, just stop. Obviously the providers have a vested interest in continue to supply… I’m going to do some research on what is best this during the week. I’m a way off stopping at the moment though…

Bring the jab forward to tomorrow or tonight? I jab on a Monday so I can enjoy the weekend as it’s when I’m most likely to eat out. Works well for me.

W19 D1 - 15th 5mg dose.

S/W 16st 7
C/W 11st 12
G/W 11st ish

Not going to lie, I did a little happy dance when I dipped in to the 11s - less than a stone to go to hit my goal, and I’m feeling really good. My birthday’s coming up and, due to not restocking clothes, I have very limited options for what to wear when I go out with friends, so I tried on a dress I bought a very long time ago and not only did it fit (possibly slightly too big but not enough to look like it) I felt nice in it, which is something I haven’t felt for ages. DH said I felt ‘tiny’ when he gave me a cuddle the other day, and I could honestly say that I was feeling small. I know I’m not thin by any stretch of the imagination, but I’m certainly not fat any more. Which is a great place to be!

I need to reorder today, I just took the extra dose out of my pen, and I’m going to order one more 5mg, then a final pen of 2.5mg after that. There is that little voice in my head that keeps trying to reset my goal weight to less than a 25 BMI, but I don’t want to push it too far. If I get to 25 I’ll be ecstatic, then I want to focus on maintaining and toning up (that stubborn stomach area could do with more work but that’s going to be the gym, not the diet)

Summerbod25 · 17/03/2025 09:25

lostinchaos · 16/03/2025 09:45

happy Sunday everyone! I was wondering if anyone has spoken to their prescriber about maintenance doses yet? Mine has advised going back down to 2.5 from 5 ml. I think that sounds reasonable but curious to hear if anyone has heard differently?

I haven't updated for a while, but I officially hit my goal weight this week and weigh 9 stone for the first time in maybe 18 years, having lost over 3.5 stone since November. I didn't even manage to get to this weight for my wedding 12 years ago... although admittedly I was a lot more toned and much fitter!

But now I'm here it actually feels like a very precarious weight to try to maintain, and I think that to some extent the hard work really starts now as I have to resist old eating habits. I really don't want to gain the weight back again. Part of me thinks I should keep dieting to give myself a buffer of a few more pounds, but at what stage does it stop? Anyway, today I'm taking the win and putting on my new size 8 jeans!

Hi @lostinchaos i am at that stage too. I’m not sure whether to consult with my provider or just do another month at a lower dose. I’ve tapered out the 10mg pen into 6 doses by buying extra needles, but truthfully I’m probably no more than 4-6 lbs away from a very good goal weight and my bmi/body fat percentage is at a very good point. Interestingly as I’ve gone up the doses I’ve found it harder to exercise due to fatigue so I’m confident that on finishing this, I’ll be able to exercise more which should help with maintaining my weight.

I actually pushed my goal weight back by another 7lbs to give myself a “buffer zone”- definitely assuming that I’ll put a few lbs on after stopping mj.

jay55 · 17/03/2025 09:50

Morning, happy st Patrick’s day.
Great news for those at goal, approaching goal and into tiny jeans! Congrats big time.

My gain is gone, the stall is over, it’s essentially taken a month to lose half a kilo but it’s gone.
Third 7.5 jab today, first from a proper 7.5 pen.

7.5 has been interesting. I ‘go’ more frequently than on 5, no constipation issues. One and a half days a week of trapped wind, toxic burps and insomnia that had me questioning if I could continue as I felt so bad and work was suffering the next day. Unable to eat more than a few bites tues-thurs, eat normal (calorie deficit)meals Friday, feel hunger on the weekends. I might keep jab day as Monday but change weigh in to weds so that a relaxed weekend can be recovered from.

Tried jabbing my arm this morning to see if that helps with side effects.

Have a good week all.

Summerbod25 · 17/03/2025 10:19

@jay55 i jabbed into thigh for a couple of weeks to lessen the side effects, but ended up with more of a vaccine site reaction (totally normal) so went back to stomach. Your tolerance to the side effects increases as you go through the month anyway.

I’ve just felt more and more fatigued going up through the doses, strangely on starting mj at the lower doses I felt great- more energy, able to exercise, clear head, etc. Getting bloods taken soon and my gut feeling is that my iron will be low again, and that it’s not actually anything to do with the mj.

MounjNewb · 17/03/2025 10:28

Finally sorted Oushk booking today - 29th May though, they are busy! Will need to order another pen from Simple Online Pharmacy to cover the wait. Will see if they have a problem prescribing now I'm <25 BMI.

@Mounjaropen Renpho scales calculate metabolic age for you. Mine is depressing and definitely more reason to keep on keeping on this path!

@DarkForces do you think the Renpho scales are fairly accurate? I use them. It’s fantastic seeing your metabolic age decrease and all the stats. But I’ve always taken the stats they give with a pinch of salt…

DH is still in his sixties according to the scales and he is actually 55…😳
