Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Thanks @MounjaropenI've had more emails since 😮 definitely in someone’s group chat 😆 I’m up to £280 credit this week now. Can’t believe it. Only shared one time on these threads and it was aaaages ago. No one needs to see my photo either 😱 it’s in my hidden folder on my phone for me to refer to 😆

Very excitedly weighing in today🥂🥂🥂

W17D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:16st 9lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 3st 0lb

Three pounds off this week so I'm now three stone off in total! That's also 15% of my starting weight gone, my body fat according to my scales is down 10 from 57% to 47% (totally ignoring that this is still terrible!) and I'm down 6.5 BMIs. Thanks to one of the other threads I know I have lost the equivalent of one of those big water cooler bottles I can't lift, plus two guinea pigs.

So pleased to have finally hit 3 stone and I can't wait to start obsessing about hitting 4 stone 😂

Hooray!! 🎉

Also love the water cooler and guinea pig comparison! I’m going to start doing this!

Goldleafcat · 14/03/2025 13:54

Solidarity here for those who haven’t lost anything this week. I’ve stayed the same (in fact, 0.4lb on). But this week was a bit more naughty (Pret chicken Caesar baguette Weds lunchtime, then pizza and wine Weds night) (whoops), and last night I cooked a relatively ok chicken, veg and chorizo traybake, but ate loads of it! 🫣

After my week of fun I need to make sure I’m sensible this weekend!

@Mounjaropen & @TooExtraImmatureCheddar I'm absolutely thrilled with myself this morning. It feels like I've been saying nearly three stone forever, because I've got blase about the faster speed of mounjaro weight loss.

Here's the full list of weight comparisons. It's slightly ridiculous but also really helpful to visualise what we've all been carrying around.

3 pounds = an average human brain
4 pounds = an ostrich egg
5 pounds = a Chihuahua
6 pounds = a human’s skin
7.5 pounds = an average newborn
8 pounds = a human head
10 pounds= an average Gallon of paint
11 pounds = an average housecat

25 pounds = an average 2 year old
26 pounds = average weight of a Koala Bear
30 pounds = average Vacuum Cleaner
31 pounds = average amount of manure produced by a horse each day
33 pounds = a cinder block
36 pounds = a mid-size microwave
40 pounds = a 5-gallon bottle of water or an average human leg
44 pounds = an elephant’s heart
50 pounds = a small bale of hay
55 pounds = a 5000 BTU air conditioner

Hello hello

I've been super busy at work, haven't posted for a bit and missed about 400 messages, you've all been busy.

Well I'm not losing anything at the moment. No movement the last 2-3 weeks and a grand total of 2.5lb off over the past 5 weeks. It's getting pretty frustrating. Things aren't getting particularly looser either.

I'd bought a couple of slightly too small things thinking I'd fit into them in a couple of weeks and I... Don't.

I'd stuck at 7.5mg for the 3rd month so probably should have moved up. I've not been binge eating but I've been eating more 'normally' which I guess at 5'3 is just not sufficient, and due to massive workload and travel I've not been exercising much.

I've got my brother's wedding in 10 weeks and really really want to be a size I'm happier with by then. I've lost 20lb but still at the upper end of the overweight category at 11st 11lb, I want to be at least another stone smaller and feel like I had plenty of time for that, and now the time is disappearing!

Don't panic! All is not lost. You have 10 weeks. A steady 2lbs a week loss (do able) would see you lose 20 more lbs. You would be 10 stone 3 which is a smidge off the Normal BMI range.

However (and you know this) MJ is not a magic bullet. Physics dictates that you have to be in a calorie deficit to achieve weight loss. One lb of fat is a calorie deficit of 3,500 so at 2 lbs a week you have to consume 7,000 calories less than your total daily expenditure over a 7 day period. So you now have a choice - eat less/more carefully or move more. Ideally you do both if you want to lose more than 20lbs.

As an old girl, I can tell you that not putting yourself first and prioritising work is not the way forward. I have huge regrets about this. Work can wait for an hour whilst you do some form of exercise. Meal prep and meal plan everything. Your goal is to look fabulous at your family wedding. And you will. Keep going 💪

I’m in between a koala and a vacuum cleaner. This has prompted me to work out that if I lose 3lbs more I will have lost the weight of my smaller dog.

Just came across this research on another thread and it’s fascinating. https://www.fractyl.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Obesity-Week_Poster_Revita-Weight-Maintenance_FINAL.pdf Studies show that regaining weight is caused by abnormal cell growth in the gut, and by ablating those cells, they can show that people maintain weight loss.

Blimey. Seems extreme though. And I'm not adverse to doing what it takes to look good 😂

@Oceangreylike @Mounjaropenhas said that is doable with a concerted effort. Are you going up to 10mg for your next pen? I found the move to 7.5mg a revelation and it’s been more like starting on 2.5mg at the beginning with 2lb a week losses so far. I have also logged everything I eat on MFP, focused on upping my protein, joined the gym and started swimming regularly and made time each day for some dumbbell reps. But definitely the additional suppression from the higher dose has helped. Good luck.

Yes, definitely up to 10mg for the next one.
So far I haven't been calorie counting on this journey because I've been kind of trying to listen to my body's satiety signals (which with MJ is less food anyway). I have had a lot of issues with emotional eating in the past so I'm trying to use this time to reset.

However, yes I probably need to start counting calories for the next few months.

My husband said he'd help me, then cooked something super oily last night and a cake today. Had to eat it because I had to get the kids to eat it, but I'll have a word with him about sugar/oil.

As for work, I'm in a probation period with a massive make or break type deal to get done, so work has to be prioritised just at the moment. But I'm totally in agreement with others that in general it's not worth sacrificing your health for.

Anewdawnanewname · 14/03/2025 16:46

Oh no, I’ve accidentally lied about my weight loss on here 😬 I said earlier that I’d lost 3.5st but in my brain I was debating between writing 2.5st or 35lbs and put the wrong thing in. Sorry!

As another week comes to a close with careful eating (bar one creme egg) and copious amounts of exercise (5 x Pvolve 2 x 2hr tennis sessions and 3 x 50minute incline walks), Mounjaropen finds herself resolutely stuck at 11st 3.2 😭a whoosh must be due 🤞🏻 I am determined to see 10’s before this month is out. I have lost nearly an inch off my waist since March 1st so all is not lost!

Happy Saturday everyone!

@Mounjaropen that's an amazing amount of exercise. Hoping the whoosh comes next week for you. I'm 11.8 so a bit heavier than you but I was walking to the train station yesterday and felt so light. It's a fantastic feeling

I agree, the feeling is addictive isn’t it? I know I’m thinner. I know muscle weighs more than fat. I just want to get to the 10’s 😭

one thing is for sure, I’m not going back to a sedentary life post MJ. The exercise is here to stay 💪

Been looking at maintenance again now I’m within spitting distance of where I want to keep my weight. Noted on monj.co.uk that they have a maintenance page and there are a few pharmacies offering plans alongside Oushk. Interestingly, they’ll accept customers with BMI as low as 21 for maintenance on evidence they have been prescribed MJ in the past. One allows 19 as minimum in maintenance which is seriously low.

Tried booking Oushk consultation this morning (now 22nd May onwards), but payment wasn’t working so need to go back again later.

i am not thinking of a life post-MJ, planning to keep it going for some time. I know from the brief periods of low suppression over the journey that the path back to poor eating habits is very steep and slippery and only a step away. Think I want a good year under my belt of establishing new routines and habits, after all, spent 30+ years embedding the poor habits.

random223 · 15/03/2025 09:20

Checking in with this week's weigh-in. Pleased to have lost 2lbs after a slow couple of weeks. I think that means I have lost the microwave.

SW: 14 stone
CW: 11 st 6
TW: 10st ish

Hoping for some warmer weather as I am really struggling with the cold.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/03/2025 09:28

Just taken my 18th jab. 1lb lost this week.

SW: 12 st 7
CW: 10 st 6.2
GW: 9 st 10
Current BMI: 26.8

At present rate of loss (1.6 lbs pw) I think that’s about another 7 weeks. Wish it would hurry up!

I’ve not been about for a couple of weeks so just catching up!

Disappointment last week when I gained 1lb, first gain since I started 😞 I had delayed injecting by three days so I could enjoy a fancy meal, so that might have done it! But luckily it seems to be a blip as I’ve lost just shy of 3lbs this week.

I’ve now lost almost 3 1/2 stone and I was beginning to despair of actually going down a size, but today I tried on various trousers and none fitted, they were all hanging off me. So off I went to M&S and easily fitted into size 18 jeans!! Slightly snug, but I know they will loosen! So I am delighted that I have finally got there, and cleared my drawer of things that are too big! Last time I was this size was 2017!

5mg has been working well (almost too well for a while), but the last couple of weeks it has started to wear off and I feel snackish, plus the losses are around 1lb or less on average a week, so I’m moving up to 7.5mg in a few weeks. I am so close to being just overweight rather than obese!

SW: 18st 12.5lbs
CW: 15st 7lbs
GW: 12st 7lbs

Need to see how much I can shed before our big 20th wedding anniversary holiday in the summer! Can’t wait to sit comfortably in a plane seat, be able to pull down the tray table without it hitting my tummy, and getting into roller coasters with no fear that I won’t fit!!!
