Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

goodness, you are having an awful time. I think the announcement yesterday took a lot of people by surprise. I hope you’ll be ok. We had salmon yesterday, I did mine in a foil parcel with a little white wine, slice of lemon and a knob of butter. Dead easy and creates a lovely sauce to have with accompanying veg.

I’ve concluded this is just middle age life and I’m thankful for my amazing family. Going through everything without them would really suck. Apparently I’m very resilient - which is just as well really.

DarkForces · 14/03/2025 09:17

I've finally had a whoosh. 4lb off this week! Down to 11.8 despite drinking too much wine last night

SerenePeer · 14/03/2025 09:22

Goldleafcat · 14/03/2025 07:55

Yes my sizing is very much up and down too!

She is actually a bit bigger than me at the moment, but she has remained a similar weight for quite a few years so just sticks to what she has. Her husband’s weight goes up and down a lot - he has periods of being very calorie aware etc and loses loads then they go back to (admittedly yummy) pizza and beer lifestyle. She encouraged him to do the 5 items thing, which he did, which clearly worked for them but wouldn’t for me.

(I do think for blokes it’s easier, he basically lives in jeans and t shirts!).

I aspire to the dream of going away on holiday for a week with a capsule wardrobe - maybe one day 😂

Oooh yes! I dream of capsule wardrobes! Tres chic!

Yay!!! Must be the week for whooshes as seems a few of us have had them!

SerenePeer · 14/03/2025 09:29

Happy Friday fellow expensive death jabbers.

Like many of us, I had a mini whoosh this morning and am now BMI 27 🥳 So I've registered with Oushk with a view to switching to their maintenance plan when the time comes.

My tummy still has a long way to go too, and interestingly the tops of my thighs which I never viewed as fat are looking particularly flabby. Time to get those areas toned up and slather on the bio oil i think! Haven't been to the gym since Monday so need to pull my finger out at get consistent again. I thought I'd cracked it last week getting back in the groove but work trip to London got in the way. No excuse really as have a lovely gym at the office with lovely shower gels and hair straighteners. Just couldn't be arsed!

MsRumpole · 14/03/2025 09:34

Well, despite visibly having lost weight on my stomach (evidenced by more crinkly skin, very much a mixed blessing) the scales tell me I have lost 0.1lbs since last week.

And I can't even muster the will to finish off DH's hot cross buns in response!

jay55 · 14/03/2025 09:38

Add me in to those with a good scale this morning. Finally back to my low .8kg off overnight.

That did include 3am bathroom visits the last two nights.

Hopeful this will boost me into a clean weekend and an actual new loss by weigh in on Monday.

Hope everyone is feeling good and has a nice weekend, shame it's not due to be as warm as last weekend.

murraymcgill · 14/03/2025 09:50

I noticed that this week has been the first time since starting MJ that I haven't felt queasy I'm on week 18 I wonder why that has happened I can't think what's different 🤔

It probably means your blood sugar levels are settling? Not a bad thing. Maybe keep a food diary to see if anything you ate previously set it off?

Very excitedly weighing in today🥂🥂🥂

W17D7
SW: 19st 9lbs
CW:16st 9lbs
1st GW: 17st 13lbs
2nd GW 15st 4lbs
TL: 3st 0lb

Three pounds off this week so I'm now three stone off in total! That's also 15% of my starting weight gone, my body fat according to my scales is down 10 from 57% to 47% (totally ignoring that this is still terrible!) and I'm down 6.5 BMIs. Thanks to one of the other threads I know I have lost the equivalent of one of those big water cooler bottles I can't lift, plus two guinea pigs.

So pleased to have finally hit 3 stone and I can't wait to start obsessing about hitting 4 stone 😂

murraymcgill · 14/03/2025 10:22

Starting 12.5 this morning I haven't ordered another pen but starting to panic I've past my GW although I'm still in the overweight range this is where my surgeon needs me to be

Love the water cooler bottle plus guinea pigs, @PinkArt! Congratulations on the massive loss.

I am not joining you in the whoosh corner despite pooing 3 times yesterday and feeling pretty bloody confident I’d see a loss this morning as a result. Scuppered by sausages - they were very salty and I expect are the culprit despite 2 pints of water after dinner. I’ve gone up half a pound instead of down, grr!

However have just ordered a new bra - current bra is 36G, and the new one is 34F. I have two 34F bras and they’re the only ones that now fit, but they’re both black, so I’ve ordered a white one. I ordered the cheapest one I could find, though, in the hope of shrinking even further!

PinkArt · 14/03/2025 11:53

@Mounjaropen & @TooExtraImmatureCheddar I'm absolutely thrilled with myself this morning. It feels like I've been saying nearly three stone forever, because I've got blase about the faster speed of mounjaro weight loss.

Here's the full list of weight comparisons. It's slightly ridiculous but also really helpful to visualise what we've all been carrying around.

Well that was quite the party 😂 Do you know what triggers drove you to the snaccident? I had a creme egg yesterday so I’m no angel either. HCB’s are DH’s weakness…..

I’ve worked out I’ve lost only 1.4lbs since the 1st march so I need to knuckle down. No wine for me tonight 😭

I had a long day was travelling and a few work stresses led to me hitting the carbs. Previously this would have derailed me but I have got back on it!

@Mounjaropen you are due a whoosh!

I do feel that my losses are slowing, am going to calorie count properly from tomorrow (have a meal out tonight so will ignore that 😂😂)

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 14/03/2025 12:22

I’m in between a koala and a vacuum cleaner. This has prompted me to work out that if I lose 3lbs more I will have lost the weight of my smaller dog.

Just came across this research on another thread and it’s fascinating. https://www.fractyl.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Obesity-Week_Poster_Revita-Weight-Maintenance_FINAL.pdf Studies show that regaining weight is caused by abnormal cell growth in the gut, and by ablating those cells, they can show that people maintain weight loss.

https://www.fractyl.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Obesity-Week_Poster_Revita-Weight-Maintenance_FINAL.pdf

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 14/03/2025 12:42

https://www.fractyl.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/ADA-2024-Rejuva-Data-Presentation-President-Select-Abstract.pdf And this one is showing a new gene therapy that has been tested on pigs, which shows that by administering this pancreatic gene therapy, pigs were able to maintain weight loss after coming off semaglutide. It’s still progressing through testing so won’t be ready for humans for quite a while. But both of these studies show that there are physiological changes to gut and pancreatic cells caused by metabolic disease (in this case, diabetes) and unless you tackle those changes weight loss is unlikely to be maintained. It’s got nothing to do with willpower. At the moment, the option seems to be to stay on MJ/Ozempic, but it looks like in a few years you might lose weight, and then have a one-off procedure to address these gut/pancreatic changes to stop you putting weight back on.

Hello hello

I've been super busy at work, haven't posted for a bit and missed about 400 messages, you've all been busy.

Well I'm not losing anything at the moment. No movement the last 2-3 weeks and a grand total of 2.5lb off over the past 5 weeks. It's getting pretty frustrating. Things aren't getting particularly looser either.

I'd bought a couple of slightly too small things thinking I'd fit into them in a couple of weeks and I... Don't.

I'd stuck at 7.5mg for the 3rd month so probably should have moved up. I've not been binge eating but I've been eating more 'normally' which I guess at 5'3 is just not sufficient, and due to massive workload and travel I've not been exercising much.

I've got my brother's wedding in 10 weeks and really really want to be a size I'm happier with by then. I've lost 20lb but still at the upper end of the overweight category at 11st 11lb, I want to be at least another stone smaller and feel like I had plenty of time for that, and now the time is disappearing!
