Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Hot cross buns, a cream egg, a packet of crisps and I had bread and cheese 🙈

MNHQ: Our new mobile apps are out now!

AmeliaPMumsnet · Yesterday 10:13
Hi all,
The new version of our mobile app is now available on Android and will be available on iOS over the next couple of days. All users will be logged out when the update happens and will need to log in again to access the new app. You can continue to use the current app if your device doesn’t automatically update (some do), but we’ll be stopping support for this version at the end of the month, so we’d recommend downloading the new version from the App store.
We know this has been a long time coming for some, and we really appreciate your patience. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the beta testing group, your input has been invaluable. This is very much a first release that won’t include everything we want to include just yet. But we’re going to be making ongoing improvements, and we’ll continue listening to your feedback to shape future updates.
What’s new?
Here’s what you can look forward to in the new app:
Nested quoting – You can now quote a post that already contains a quote—just like on the website—making it easier to keep up with discussions.
AIBU? polls – You can now vote on AIBU? polls and even create your own.
Thanks – Show your appreciation for helpful posts by thanking other users. You’ll also be able to see when someone thanks you!
Edit your posts – You can now edit your posts from the app without heading to the website.
See all posts by the OP – Android users can now filter posts to only see replies from the original poster, making it easier to follow their updates in a thread.
Follow topics – Curate your own personalised feed by following your favourite topics, so you can easily find the discussions that matter most to you.
More images – You can now upload more images in a single post than before, making it easier to share moments and information.
GIFs – Sometimes words aren’t enough—now you can post GIFs to react, express yourself, or just add some fun to conversations!
What’s coming next?
We know there’s still work to do. Some features you’ve asked for aren’t in this first version, but that doesn’t mean we’re ignoring them. Here’s what we’re already working on for future updates:
Links via emails – Email links will currently open in your browser to start with but we are investigating forcing them to open in the app.
Dark mode – A long-requested feature! We’re working on bringing dark mode to the app for a more comfortable viewing experience, especially at night.
More reactions – Right now, you can thank posts, but we’re planning to introduce more reaction options so they match what’s available on the website.
Better push notifications – We’re making push notifications more useful and adding different types of alerts, so it’s easier to stay updated on the things you care about most.
Notifications centre – We’ll be introducing a dedicated notifications hub in the app, making it easier to catch up on all your notifications in one place.
PMs – We know many of you have asked for PMs to be included in the app. This is on our radar, but it will take some time to get right. We’ll keep you updated on our plans!
Let us know what you think - your input really helps to fix any initial glitches and help us keep improving. And thanks again for sticking with us - we can’t wait for you to try the new app! 💜

Well done on getting to a healthy weight @Whattodowithaminute 🎉

I love hot cross buns @Della82 I def wouldn't be able to stop at one. I've stopped myself from buying any so far.

I'm sure you look fab 3 stone down @murraymcgill

Della82 · 14/03/2025 06:18

@Cantbesure my OH had bought them and I cracked!
it has made me realise I will need a maintenance program 🙈

Anewdawnanewname · 14/03/2025 07:24

I’m on week 18 and have lost around 3.5 stones. Feels like it’s slowing now as I’m a little bit more picky for snacks at night, but I’m not wanting to move up just yet.

Ive realised that I can’t eat egg mayo sandwiches. I don’t really eat eggs other than in Yorkshire pudding mix etc, but don’t eat them whole very often, but I’ve had a couple of sandwiches over the last couple of months and ended up sick through the night after them, and the common thing I’ve noticed is the egg mayo sandwiches. Think it’s been three times now.

5 items? As in 5 pairs of trousers, 5 dresses etc in each size, or literally 5 items eg 1 dress, 1 skirt, 1 pair of trousers, 1 top and 1 jumper? The second option is ridiculous - no one has only 5 items - but when I count my clothes I must have at least 15 jumpers (thin ones, thick ones, hoodies/sweatshirts, cardigans, cashmere) and more like 40 tops easily by the time you’ve counted t-shirts, vests, going out tops, shirts, blouses, scruffy tops for gardening, sports wear…

Literally just 5 items. So now I’m back into a size 18, I’d only have say one pair of jeans, one pair of leggings, 2 tops and a dress.

It’s not like my recent 2.5 stone weight gain was over a 10 year period either, it was over 12 months so my clothes were pretty recent! And I was adamant I wanted / needed to lose weight.

I ignored the advice 🤭

Goldleafcat · 14/03/2025 07:55

PinkArt · 13/03/2025 19:57

That's a specific kind of skinny privilege - my weight doesn't fluctuate privilege. Even when I was at a healthy BMI mine could change by about half a stone and a dress size in a week when I was on my period. Some of us need that range of (stretchy) options at all times.
The approach I've learned over the years is to not spend much on any individual item of clothing but to spend on fabulous accessories.

Yes my sizing is very much up and down too!

She is actually a bit bigger than me at the moment, but she has remained a similar weight for quite a few years so just sticks to what she has. Her husband’s weight goes up and down a lot - he has periods of being very calorie aware etc and loses loads then they go back to (admittedly yummy) pizza and beer lifestyle. She encouraged him to do the 5 items thing, which he did, which clearly worked for them but wouldn’t for me.

(I do think for blokes it’s easier, he basically lives in jeans and t shirts!).

I aspire to the dream of going away on holiday for a week with a capsule wardrobe - maybe one day 😂

3.5 stone is amazing!

Interesting about the eggs. My husband (not on MJ) has become really averse to eggs over the past year. He feels unwell / full and bloated after eating them. The only time he’s ok is the occasional poached or fried egg with a meal in the evening, but rarely. Scrambled eggs seem to the the worst for him.

I work in an NHS Trust so today’s announcement from the prime minister was a bit of a surprise. Meant I ate very well today… because I was pulled into meetings so had zero time to eat. Now I need to stay firm and not fall into a bedtime binge.

dinner was air fryer salmon with quinoa and veg. It was lovely.

So sorry to hear all the things you’ve got happening, especially for your mum. X

I love a mix up - a bit of Zara but with high end accessories is my go to-to. I love the fact I can do up all of my Zara blazers now. I wore a white crepe tuxedo-style suit with white wide leg trousers last weekend and got many compliments in the ladies loo at lunch. I must admit, I feel less invisible these days 🥰

goodness, you are having an awful time. I think the announcement yesterday took a lot of people by surprise. I hope you’ll be ok. We had salmon yesterday, I did mine in a foil parcel with a little white wine, slice of lemon and a knob of butter. Dead easy and creates a lovely sauce to have with accompanying veg.

When I was little, I used to find butter spread on bread totally overwhelming. It made the roof of my mouth itch. Then I got older and that went away. Mounjaro's brought it back. It feels like a bit of a dietary reset for me, like I eat the way I did as a kid again.

I’ve worked out I’ve lost only 1.4lbs since the 1st march so I need to knuckle down. No wine for me tonight 😭

Fabulous loss! 👏👏👏

I love an egg mayo sandwich that I’ve made, but realistically I cannot be arsed. Plus, it is an anti-social sandwich filling 😂 Is it a homemade filling you are eating, or shop-bought? It might be something you cannot tolerate in the latter if that is the case?

I tried taking a small carry-on suitcase once for a night away. I ended up cracking my iPad trying to close it. It was an expensive error. I take a capacious bag everywhere now 😂

Capsule wardrobes are nonsense that fashion editors write about but don’t actually use. Or they don’t have a ‘bosom shelf’ that is perilous when eating food with a sauce. I’d last a day. On the upside, washing machine sales and oxy stain remover would be up 😆
