Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

Well done all on the losses.
First week on 7.5 had one day of bad trapped wind, burps and reflux then sailed through the week.
My period finally arrived Friday, typical while at the airport on a work trip. But I feel so much better mentally and physically. Hormones going awry really mess with the meds too.
The gain still isn't entirely gone but should be this week.
I wasn't hungry until Sunday, went a little over cals, still below tdee but above aim.

I can't do protein yogurts either, the pouches I thought were vile, tried squeezing them out and having with a spoon or over fruit but it was a no.
Going to try adding a little protein powder to normal Greek yogurt this week will build it up.

Has anyone tried drinking the clear whey protein as a way to get more in?

I'm not super keen on the idea, protein products really messed with my guts last time I tried low carb so have been reluctant to try but I'll see if adding to yogurt is tolerated then try others.

I do like the cathedral city protein cheese slices, 82cals, 7.5grams of protein, only slightly higher than a regular cheese slice but every little helps for me. And no good for veggies or those on a budget but the m&s Serrano ham crisps are brilliant 16g protein, 99cals.

W18D1 - 14th 5mg jab.

S/W 16st 7
C/W 12st 3 (although the scales did dip a further lb yesterday)
G/W 11st ish

Have had a hectic couple of weeks, which is why I didn’t check in last week - hopefully life is calming down now! With everything that’s been going on, it’s been nice not to turn to food and/or large glasses of wine to power through, although a few squares of 70% dark chocolate have crept in which I know isn’t as bad as inhaling a family bar of dairy milk but feels like bad habits are coming back.

Good to hear everyone is doing well on their individual journeys - whether it’s scale, clothing, fitness or mirror victories. Congratulations to everyone!!

Well done on the losses! I make a rocky road with a bar of dark chocolate, plain microwave salted popcorn, mini marshmallows and dried cherries which makes a great snack in the fridge when I fancy something a bit naughty but I know doesn't have too much sugar in it either. It makes a reasonable amount of bars too.

I’m following another thread where the discussion is about metabolic adaption.
it lead me to do some googling about the subject.

The following link is interesting and explains why we get to a point where we are very much in calorie deficit and exercise has increased but our weight loss is now very slow and almost plateaued.

If I wasn’t committed to MJ, this is the point I get to and think what is the point and go back to my old ways but the link gives suggestions to kick start the metabolism and the final bit of encouragement is…

Even though the weight loss is slow, keep going everyone, we can do this 💪

Catching up here - lots of great posts to read!

W18 D1 - have edged dose up again and had 9mg last night. I'm peaking here I expect as very very close to target now:

SW 12st 13
CW 10st 11.5 (BMI 23.2)
GW 10st 10

.....although, am slightly wondering if I might go a little further (BMI 22) as still carrying a bit more around my tum than I'd like. 5 wks since re-started exercising in earnest and that is now starting to show which is great. Need some 30" waist trousers....and a belt with more holes.

Have one more week of current pen, and another 10mg in the fridge which means I've about 6-7 weeks covered. Think I'll see if Simple OP will sell me another pen or say I should stop now I'm in healthy BMI range. Have had friendly replies to enquiries about maintenance from Cloud and Oushk, so feel comfortable there's a plan B available. I am convinced I should stay on MJ long-term to ensure I maintain this new found (and most fantastically welcome) new me.

I try and avoid any protein which is not part of my actual food intake but I am a meat-eater so that does make a huge difference. Natural Greek Yoghurt has about 4g of protein per 100g. DD was at a rowing school and the rowers would regularly scarf 500g pots in one sitting to keep their protein intake up but in reality it is only about 20g extra. It is quite cheap though - about a £1 for 500g.

I've found low fat chicken sausages to be a great form of protein, and I am (today) going to try making the cottage cheese wraps Viral Cottage Cheese Wraps (high-protein!) - Fit Foodie Finds. I also like the look of the cottage cheese ice cream on this site!

We're coming atcha with the viral cottage cheese wraps and you're going to love them! I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical, but we nailed this recipe and

Let’s us know how you get on with the wraps - I keep seeing those sort of recipes on Instagram and have been tempted, but never taken the leap of faith that they’ll turn out any good!! I’m not sure about cheese ice cream though… 😂

We use chicken sausages a lot in our meal rotation too - I recommend the Heck Italian ones. They’re never going to be as good as a proper porker but as long as I remember that they’re made of chicken, I’m never disappointed!

That rocky road sounds amazing… might have to try that when DH goes away (if I do it while he’s home, he’ll scarf it down on his regular fridge visits - if I put it on a high enough shelf the kids won’t be able to see/reach it!)

Cantbesure · 10/03/2025 11:07

Oh wow @MounjNewb that's incredible. Huge congrats at being so close to target and your amazing BMI 🎉🎉

LilyRose88 · 10/03/2025 18:43

I've had two weeks overseas on holiday (Guatemala and Belize) and managed to lose about 1.5lbs when I was away, partly because I got a stomach bug! I missed one jab as I was worried about constipation while travelling as we didn't always have long toilet stops (I was on an organised tour). My total loss now is 23lbs.
I'm about 4lbs away from my goal and am thinking about micro-dosing for maintenance for a few months once I reach goal. I've only ever taken 5mg although I do have a 7.5mg pen in the fridge which I ordered before I went away.
Asda has given me a discount code for my next pen so I think I will order another 5mg to hopefully get to goal. I'll then do 3.75mg 'half-doses' from the 7.5mg pen which I'll keep in reserve. I think Asda will support maintenance doses for a while, although I don't know how long.
I'm going shopping on Wednesday with my daughter to get some new clothes as all my clothes are too big. I'm a bit nervous about buying too much as I still can't believe that I'm a size 12. I was a size 16 before I started on Mounjaro.

Cantbesure · 11/03/2025 08:42

Loving seeing people getting close to target in our group. How exciting! Sorry to hear you've had a bug @LilyRose88 but very jealous of your exotic holidays.

I delayed my jab this week by a day which was not a good idea. My suppression went from strong to non existent overnight and I had a Burger King. I still clearly have a lot of work to do in terms of food noise and reward.

Went to Pilates for the first time yesterday. I really need to build up my core strength and flexibility. I might try and make this class part of my routine.

Babymamamama · 11/03/2025 09:41

Morning lovelies
Just logging latest stats. I’ve had a little whoosh which has been very pleasing after big slow down…
Week 18 (still continuing on 7.5mg) SW 13stone 3
CW 10 stone 7
bmi is now 23.8.

GW -still not sure maybe aim for another half stone then try to stabilise….?

jay55 · 11/03/2025 10:55

@LilyRose88 great going to survive the holiday, I bet you had a lot of walking with all those hills/volcanos that helped. Love it over there very jealous.

It is good to hear of so many reaching goal.

Mounjaropen · 11/03/2025 10:59

Good morningLovely friends in my phone!

Just had a telephone consultation with my GP following my blood test results from last week and my cholesterol is at 5.1 which is unusual for me. Last time I think it was 3.2? He said that they are noticing people on MJ or similar are experiencing raised cholesterol levels so I need to keep an eye on it. He has sent me some information which I will read later. Not quite sure what I can do on the basis that I am meeting a pretty much clean diet with very few processed foods, but I will have a look - just sharing the information in case anybody on here has a predisposition to high cholesterol levels as it might be something you want to get checked. Reassuringly, everything else is normal including iron levels (he said your iron levels are better than mine!) And most importantly thyroid levels as I know this is a concern of women who are all MJ.

Top tip, wrap in greaseproof paper and place in a Tupperware box that way, are the family members are less likely to want to see what’s inside 😉

How funny, I have just literally eaten my first one! It was really nice, I would definitely make it again.

Pumpkinforever · 11/03/2025 11:39

Need to catch up on chat as AWOL for a week but get the klaxon out!

BMI was 40.9 now 33.1

Starting Weight 15 stone 12lbs /100.7kg

Current Weight 12 stone 12lbs / 81.6

Loss to date 3 stone / 19.1kg

So I seemed to stall for two weeks but now I have upped to 3.75 and drank more water it seems to be shifting again. So in 18 weeks I have lost 3 freakin’ stone! I would never have been able to do that with MJ, my next big goal is to see an 11 at the front of the scales.

PinkArt · 11/03/2025 12:05

Have a not at all jealous klaxon/ woop/ cheer from me, @Pumpkinforever! I'm two pounds away from the three stone milestone but it feels like I've been nearly there forever.
