Welcome to thread 8 to MN weight loss friends old and new!
Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we Spring forward into a new season...and consider new swimwear and Summer Wardrobes ❤️

I’m on W17 D3 and on my fourth 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 6.4 lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 32.6lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.
Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I have that dreaded weight won't settle on a value this week - 2lb off, 2 lb on, 1 lb off. Aaagh - I don't mind not losing (I do actually!) - but I really hate thinking I have lost and then finding I haven't! It was how I felt dieting all the time pre- MJ. Official weigh in tomorrow morning so fingers crossed. Well done all who have had a better week !

I’ve had a week like this. However my tankini is pleasingly loose so I’m taking that for the win this week!

Hi all, it’s @lovealongbath

I have been really lucky that haven’t really had any major side effects but
I moved up to 3.25 on Thursday and since then I have fallen asleep every night by 9.30pm, slept for approximately 4 hours, then awake for at least 3 hours.

I just want to 💤💤💤💤💤

I’ve had this since starting MJ unless I exercise early evening. I’m eyeing up a sleep headband/mask that has speakers built into it so I can listen to a meditation to try and get back to sleep…

Fantastic weigh in this morning!
82.4kg - which is 12st 13.6lbs! Officially under my 13st nemesis (where previous weight loss attempts tend to stall/rebound!)

Next goal - just 1.6lbs and I will have lost a total of 5stone since 30/09 (had four weeks of going it alone before starting MJ).

Weather is beautiful here today so heading out for a walk with the dog in a bit to celebrate!

🥳🥳🥳 5 stone loss is incredible! You must feel brilliant 🤩

Had a very frustrating weight loss week @random223 similar to you. Actually it has been two weeks! Great loss last week, then back on, then back to ground zero (of last week), and was worrying I would lose nothing this week. But fortunately, 1 lb off today (from yesterday). So at least I am lower. None of this would be so much of an issue except that Boots (I know, the MOST expensive supplier 🤦‍♀️ I was scared of who to go with in the beginning) told me when i reordered my pen that because I am now in a healthy BMI I am now on maintenance, which means I can’t up my dose. My target is BMI 22. I wanted a bit of a buffer. I am on 5mg, and have been doing well (average 2lbs a week), so thought I’d do that for the next month, and then I thought I might move up to 7.5 just to pressure off those last lbs. But after this week, I’m having a panic that I will stall, and won’t be able to get the last bit off.

I am feeling SO much better than I was before I started, and I don’t want to be weight-loss greedy, but it will be a big disappointment not to get to my goal weight. I am wondering if I can do it by maybe upping the exercise and trying really hard to ignore the end of jab-week hunger. 5mg has been working well up to this week (which did, involve two pieces of a large birthday cake - one because I was taking part and the other because I felt bad about the first 🤦‍♀️ not a healthy rationale 🤦‍♀️).

None of this is really significant in the grand scheme of things, I realise! I have been getting closer to dipping below my next stone category and I just want to feel confident I can get to my GW! 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Keep going! Interesting about not being permitted to up your dose. Thank you for sharing.

@IndigoHexagon OMG almost a 5 stone loss. That's incredible. Well done. You must feel amazing.

@Goldleafcat good luck with Pilates. I had a few wines last night (which just sent me to sleep!) and my will to go to the gym is very lacking. I might go later on so I don't feel I'm missing out of the sunshine. My house also needs a good clean today...

@phyllidafosset huge congrats on getting to a healthy BMI. I'm currently a pound or two away and can't wait for that milestone. It sounds like you have it under control but you can still switch providers if you are looking for more flexibility and to spend less money. I moved to oushk for this pen for the same reason (other providers do flexible maintenance too such as cloud pharmacy). It was £140 for 7.5 with the welcome code and there's a £15 off offer each month (no affiliate codes like med express). I've got a maintenance appt in late April to discuss my maintenance plans and once you get codes for £15 off and free postage.

I'm worried I won't be able to keep the weight off alone so am interested in the flexi plan once I've got to goal weight (prob around BMI 23). I'd be happy to pay £15 a month knowing I could then get a pen at any point to help. I'd prefer not to need it but like the idea of that option being available.

I'm still a way off yet as BMI 23 is another stone away and at 1lb a month it could take 13 weeks. But what happens next occupies a lot of my brain space.

This is very interesting about Oushk. It’s on my to-do list this week to contact them.

Hi all, I’ve been a bit awol, still chugging on but it’s slow going. Really high suppression on the 10mg pen though so I think I will stick with that for another round. No idea what week I’m up to.17ish? Maybe?

Anyway, 2 stone 4lb off.

Well done! Nice to hear from you. I was wondering the other day how you were getting on.

I have a snooze band and absolutely love it. I bought the one with the integrated sounds so drift off to the sound of a thunderstorm every night. It is so calming and relaxing. I’ll sometimes listen to a podcast instead but I always go back to the thunderstorm.

Thanks for the oushk info re flexi plan. I’ve ordered a pen with them today so that I can transfer into maintenance plan and keep flexibility… but they’ve only approved 2.5 which is probably a helpful titration down after this one. Will book a maintenance review but not showing appointments until May now…

Cantbesure · 09/03/2025 13:58

@Whattodowithaminute

They should keep you at the dose you are on if that's what you want? If I remember 2.5mg came up as the default for me but I selected 7.5mg. From the fb page it seems they are very responsive and you can whattsapp them to request a change in dosage. I think they are a small pharmacy having a massive growth due to their MJ practice.

Whattodowithaminute · 09/03/2025 15:02

@Cantbesure thank you that’s good to know. I’m tempted to try the 2.5 and see how I go as a titrate down. I’m about 3 kg from goal with 3 x doses of 7.5 left

Mounjaropen · 09/03/2025 11:54

😂 how did it go?

I survived! I did better than I expected to be honest! But then after I felt a bit yucky, probably dehydration. Must remember to be more sensible on a Saturday night before any form of exercise 🤦‍♀️ (had to start the day with an alka seltzer and a full fat coke!)

The weather has been glorious yesterday and today, I am so ready for Spring!

random223 · 09/03/2025 17:25

Official weigh day today and 1lb down. (Phew). Total loss to date of 35lbs. I understand the plateau fear @phyllidafosset !! Still a way to go for me as I have another 20lbs to lose.

I think I really need to drink more water so am going to try that this week (not sure why I find it hard but I do!)

random223 · 09/03/2025 17:28

Just wondering if anyone is eating protein yoghurts? Not sure that I really want to get in the habit of regular puddings but am struggling a bit to hit protein goals

I have been trying to eat these too, but I do find them quite heavy and a bit claggy. The nicest one I’ve found so far is a Muller vanilla one.

I'm lactose intolerant and tried a lactose free protein one as I love yoghurt and berries for breakfast. It was baaaaaaad. Sort of grainy 😬

Polomintsareround · 09/03/2025 19:18

I find protein yoghurts too thick and heavy 🤢

random223 · 09/03/2025 19:35

Yes they are a bit artificial tasting. Any other protein tricks for someone who doesn't eat much meat?

Arglefraster · 09/03/2025 23:18

My go to is Fage 0% Greek yogurt is ~10g protein /50cal/100g is stir in berries, chia seeds & inulin

MsRumpole · 10/03/2025 00:12

I'm down to 21st 7.5lb, which is about 2.2 stone lost. Averaging 2lb a week, including a month off over Christmas where I largely maintained. People are starting to notice a bit now.

2.5 stones is fab! I’m stuck at 34lb off with 1.5 stones to go so a similar amount as you. Feels like March will be a loooong month!

W18D1 - 14th 5mg jab.

S/W 16st 7
C/W 12st 3 (although the scales did dip a further lb yesterday)
G/W 11st ish

Have had a hectic couple of weeks, which is why I didn’t check in last week - hopefully life is calming down now! With everything that’s been going on, it’s been nice not to turn to food and/or large glasses of wine to power through, although a few squares of 70% dark chocolate have crept in which I know isn’t as bad as inhaling a family bar of dairy milk but feels like bad habits are coming back.

Good to hear everyone is doing well on their individual journeys - whether it’s scale, clothing, fitness or mirror victories. Congratulations to everyone!!

I’m following another thread where the discussion is about metabolic adaption.
it lead me to do some googling about the subject.

The following link is interesting and explains why we get to a point where we are very much in calorie deficit and exercise has increased but our weight loss is now very slow and almost plateaued.

If I wasn’t committed to MJ, this is the point I get to and think what is the point and go back to my old ways but the link gives suggestions to kick start the metabolism and the final bit of encouragement is…

Even though the weight loss is slow, keep going everyone, we can do this 💪
