Aee there any nurses on the thread or anything?

SpiralSister · 19/02/2025 11:36

Ok, don’t panic, @Chrestomanciscat - equally don’t ever do it again. Chances are you’ll be fine!
I’d keep an eye on the site for a while. I imagine it’ll get red and nasty if infected.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along v soon to reassure you.

Chrestomanciscat · 19/02/2025 11:38

Thanks for your reply. @SpiralSister I wish i hadn't done it - its been sat for a week 😱

Romanswindowcleaner · 19/02/2025 11:57

@Chrestomanciscat I’m sure you’ll be fine but in the mean time have you now got an alcohol swap or disinfectant you can dab on the injection site and cover with a small fresh plaster for 24 hours?

poached egg tips - add a splash of white wine vinegar to the gently simmering water then swirl the water to make a whirlpool then gently slide eggs in (broken into a cup or bowl in advance).

flying with pen - as asked a few pages back - has anyone done this long haul? It’s not the temp I’m concerned about (as it will be under 30 while with me) it’s whether or not I can carry the needles (sharps) through multiple security checks. Any diabetics or pros offer any tips??

Ke11 · 19/02/2025 12:15

@Chrestomanciscat I'm sure you'll be fine if it was sterile. The end of a needle gets damaged/blunt with each use which is one of the reasons they aren't re usable.

You can pick up extra needles from any pharmacy, or order off amazon etc, they're just called pen needles usually.

I've done a bit of research on the flight thing.
The directions are to have the pen in the original box in a clear bag with your prescription letter.
Always put in carry on as checked goes through temp and pressure changes.
They also suggest a cool pack if needed.

My dad carries needles for his insulin and never has any issues - he does take a letter from his GP but doesn't usually get asked for it

Feb2025start · 19/02/2025 12:38

Just had a bit of a 'test' at work - which turned out not to really be much of a test at all! Somebody has brought in several boxes of AMAZING looking mini cupcakes and chocolates and left them in the canteen for anyone who wants them. Before MJ I would absolutely have taken one (or two...) but despite feeling hungry I just felt no desire at all! Instead I'm sat here quite happy eating my lentil dhal and cauli rice (and not even finishing that).

It's so weird, my body was definitely telling me I was hungry and needed some form of nutrition but I genuinely wanted the healthy stuff and felt nothing about the cakes beyond a vague 'hmm, they look nice'

Pic of some of said cakes for context 😅 hopefully nobody on here works for my company!

Oushk delivery is branded with big Os all across the package. I didn't see an option for non branded but am surprised it's not more discreet. What do other providers do?

MedExpress is pretty discrete, just a plain cupboard box. They do have their name and address in small writing to the side, which I think is a requirement they'll all have to follow.

Febnewbie · 19/02/2025 12:52

Cloud pharmacy packaging is very discreet

aylis · 19/02/2025 13:12

I was approved yesterday, still waiting for notification of dispatch - I'm hoping to have it by tomorrow as I wanted to take it on a Thursday night due to WFH on the Friday and then having the weekend to deal with any potential side effects. Also if it wears off towards the end Tues/Weds are my busiest days so that will hopefully help. I'm really nervous so of course I spent all of last night reading about negative side effects and was convinced I'm going to die 😆

My starting weight is 16st 5. I don't look like I'm that heavy but I feel it.

I eat decent meals and try to exercise 3 times a week but snacking is my downfall and god I just really want to stop craving crisps and sugar.

Housewife2010 · 19/02/2025 13:37

I'm due to take my 3rd dose this afternoon, but still have excellent suppression. Does anyone ever leave it an extra day?

rach7979 · 19/02/2025 13:50

My third dose is due Saturday

SW- 14st 12
CW- 13st 13.5
GW- 9st 6

So far the only side effect is I've really struggled to eat, just not interested in food at all. I'm aiming for 1200 calories and 4 litres of water (or in my case very dilute squash as I don't like water).

I posted this question this morning but have had no replies that I can see:

I'm off on holidays in a couple of months and my new pen will be due half way through the holiday.

What do I do flying with it? How can I keep it cold? How do I take it through security? Or am I going to have to come up with another plan?

Marypoppinsisnosaint · 19/02/2025 13:54

I've been lurking on these threads for many months now. I finally took the plunge and ordered my first pen.

Injected last night before bed, fingers crossed it works. Had a small breakfast but didn't finish it, not sure if it's the medicine or all in my head 🤣 I've drank plenty of water today which is something I do struggle with daily.

Starting weight: 17s1lb

I have lost a stone since Christmas without the jab, so I feel like I'm in better habits.

Time to properly track now though.

I think the flying thing was answered upthread but pop pen with packaging in cool bag and put in hand luggage. At security let them know they'll either take it and put it through separately or not bat an eyelid. People fly everyday with needles and syringes xxx

Jab 1 done. Marmite tasted different. Anyone else notice that?

Ashabeth · 19/02/2025 14:59

Hi All, I hope you don't mind me joining late.

I started with my first injection 31/01 evening so day 1 01/02.
Currently on injection 3 and feel great. I lost 10lb in the 1st week, 2lb in the 2nd and so far I'm a little over 1/2 lb down.
The last week we've had a lot on with eating out etc, so I expected losses to be minimal and I'm still absolutely thrilled to be able to say I've lost nearly a stone in less that a month!
Only my partner knows that I'm on the jabs and I don't think I'll tell anyone.

I found the food noise quietened from the first day and it's been an absolute godsend! I honestly think this'll be a main contributing factor in my losses. It feels like the biggest weight has been lifted off of my shoulders.
The only side effect I have felt so far has been mild nausea but only following a carb heavy meal or a glass of wine on an empty stomach so I'm thrilled.

I'm generally eating a lot less in the day (banana or berries for breakfast and a small chicken salad or soup for lunch with a yogurt as a snack) and for dinner I have the same as my family but just a much smaller portion. Nightly wine and evening treats are gone and so is the desire or need to binge.

I have always found it easy to gain weight... but before children I was able to stay a healthy weight with normal calorie restriction and exercise...
Since having 2 children in the space of a year (8 years ago now) I have felt like NOTHING has worked to shift the weight. I have been on a diet/ binge cycle and gotten bigger (8st heavier!!) and more frustrated and miserable with every passing year... THANK GOODNESS for Mounjaro!!

Hoping and praying that this continues to have this effect and I can finally get back down to a healthy weight!

Wishing everyone else success and happiness on this journey!

SW 18st 9.6lb
CW 17st 10.8lb

DistantVworp · 19/02/2025 15:10

Hello all - I vanished a bit because life has been a bit hectic. Dose 4 for me tomorrow, and so far have lost a slightly less than stellar 3 lbs. However, I knackered my knee playing rugby at the weekend and its super swollen, so reckon there's a fair amount of water weight!

I think I am going to find the next few weeks challenging - I'm usually very active and am trying to find things to do (can't walk properly) with my knee is a bit tough.

I am finding suppression less now, and am looking forward to going up to 5mg - think I will do the bonus dose though!

0987654321q · 19/02/2025 15:17

Oushks customer service is very good. They refunded the wrong day delivery fee and can send orders in plain packaging. Fair play.

Lorelaigilmore88 · 19/02/2025 15:46

@Ashabeth
Its funny you should say you felt food noise quieten from day one, I am on day one and just assumed it was the placebo effect or just my excitement- but i havent grazed or snacked today at all, which is unusual... especially as I'm at home with the kids for half term and have made them pancakes, pasta lunch and snacks... all the foods I'd usually share as well :)
I'm so excited :)

OntheTrainX · 19/02/2025 15:53

Re the Marmite query - on jab day I noticed a slightly metallic taste in my mouth which altered the taste of some things. Coffee especially.

Maro11 · 19/02/2025 16:00

But the bullet and order on its way, terrified and excited at the same time

Ashabeth · 19/02/2025 16:25

@Lorelaigilmore88 It could be a placebo effect but right now I will take that!
It's working for now and the food noise was always the most stressful part of any "diet" attempts for me before... Constantly wondering what my next meal will be, what I'll be having for dinner in 4 weeks, what I can or can't have... Just constant thought of food. Now I just prep my lunches for the week without over thinking it and I can go beyond lunch time before I realise I haven't eaten anything... It's beyond a relief x
