Hi,

Can I join please?

I started my first dose on Mounjaro yesterday.

Stupidly did not weigh myself yesterday but stepped on the scales this morning and I weigh 14 stone exactly, (196lb).

I've been watching this thread and am so impressed with the losses you're all having. Feeling quite hopeful!

Febnewbie · 26/02/2025 08:14

I was away at a work conference the last couple of days, ate a lovely 3 course dinner with wine and fully expected to have gained weight but I have somehow actually lost another 3lbs over the last two days.

I definitely feel like this is doing something over and above helping me eat less, I have never had such success on a diet and usually one off blips like a nice dinner set me back immediately

sc0ttishlass · 26/02/2025 08:22

Weigh Day here.
Started at 13 stone 5lb
Week 1 10lb off
Week 2 2lb off
Week 3 2lb off
Currently 12 stone 5lb

Delighted with this. Dose 4 taken this morning.
No symptoms to date however I didn't drink nearly enough water in the past 2 days and had an awful headache today. Definitely a reminder to drink more, I had been really good up until now with 1 of those 2 litre water bottles that tells you how much to drink by what time.

Had my first notice about weight loss. At a 50th party on Saturday and a friend noticed my face (which is significantly less bloated). Didn't drink or eat any of the buffet as I just didn't want to and still had a grast time.
My biggest revelation is still the number of times I am in a shop and haven't bought anything to binge on. Surely will be saving money on all the rubbish I bought!
Have a good day everyone

I watched this interview twice it was so good! I think that Doc has been on Oprah twice as well. Well worth a watch and the most sensible descrption of what it is to have the disease of chronic obesity (as opposed to having piled on some pounds and wanting to lose weight) which is a distinction I think people miss.

DelightfullySoSo · 26/02/2025 08:40

Can someone explain the timing of a 'golden dose' to me? I get that it's about squeezing every last drop out - but do you take it in addition to your last 2.5 dose, or use it for a 5th week (which would give you a lower dose that week presumably). So confused :)

alwayshavebeenfemale · 26/02/2025 08:45

Thank you! I wonder if you can order it from Mumsnet jail? 🤣😬

Probablyawake · 26/02/2025 08:51

Mounjaroday · 26/02/2025 08:04

Took my first 5mg pen last night. Feel fine!

That's good to know! I am ordering the 5mg today. I was thinking to stay on 2.5 but I can feel the suppression is not as strong, so don't want to remain on 2.5 and have a month wasted. Although still making good choices etc but will trust the process and move up.
I haven't had any side effects and just worried about rocking the boat!

Chrestomanciscat · 26/02/2025 08:53

Week 3 day 1 - jab and weigh in - 2lb loss. So now at either 14' 7 or 14' 5' depending on which scales i use - just need to pick one set!
Catching up on the thread and well done to everyone 💪

I'm exactly the same. On previous diets I only had to look at a treat meal and it cancelled out all other efforts. It feels as though it's stopping my body from trying to retain the original weight as a set point.

I took it for week 5. I extracted from the pen using an insulin needle, and it was 0.7ml which is equal to 2.9mg. as I'm moving to 5mg next week soI took all of this as a slight step up towards 5. You could just take 0.6 which would be 2.5mg as usual.

Housewife2010 · 26/02/2025 08:59

I'm taking my week 4 jab this afternoon. I've now lost 12lbs and am down into the next stone bracket which I'm very happy about. I love logging it into the app and seeing the change in statistics. It's been very slow this week - less than a lb but at least it's going the right direction.

Shadowfein · 26/02/2025 09:01

Hi all

W3, D8.

I am going to take my 4th Wegovy dose this evening, I am trying to move the dosage day to a Thursday, as I wfh on a Thursday and will be in to collect the post rather than DH - who might or might not be curious about what is arriving.
In any case, I weighed this morning:
SW: 84.2KG
CW: 81KG
GW: 65-70KG

I have noticed a lessening of suppression over the past couple of days, but am still feeling ok. I'll take my dose tonight and then go another 8 days to Thursday next week and then move up to 0.5mg on Wegovy.

A question for you - do you know if you are allowed to take these pens into other countries? I have a cruise in Norway coming up (with 7 days of all you can eat buffets) and I don't want to take a chance and miss doses. Does anyone know?

Thanks all
x

I’m on W4D3 and thankfully haven’t experienced the sickness that I did after my last two doses. Definitely better for me to keep to small meals and a relatively empty stomach around jab day.

I’ve just swapped to MedExpress and got £40 off with a code and I’ve had an email to say my prescription has been approved. Bit nervous about going up to 5mg but will give it a go.

Well done to everyone with their losses 🙌

Zibb · 26/02/2025 09:10

W2 D4 and I've got the dreaded sulphur burps. I've been feeling great recently but today I feel sluggish and bloated. I ate pasta in a creamy sauce last night, just a very small portion because a friend cooked it for me, but wondering if that is the culprit. Or maybe these are just the side effects I'll be experiencing from now on. Either way, it's dreadful.

ridiculouslyridiculous · 26/02/2025 09:22

Weigh in day for me today.

Week 2 Day 1
SW 201.4lbs
CW 196.2lbs

So that's a 5.2lb loss which I'm pleased with! MJ appears to have cured my crisp addiction, still having a habitual glass of wine most nights so that's is the next thing to tackle.

Yes! This expresses it so well

sweetpickle2 · 26/02/2025 09:26

Have woken up to very strong food suppression, it's weird isn't it how much it makes you realise thinking about food normally dominates your every waking thought?

Got up earlier than I usually do, went to the gym, did a full workout, and it wasn't till about half an hour after I got home that I realised I should probably eat something- not even that I especially wanted to! Normally I'd have been ravenous within about 10 mins of being awake, never mind after working out.

Yes, I think there is a distinction that isn't talked about between people who are generally slim but have put on weight for a specific reason like pregnancy/ change in circumstances, etc and people who have the disease of obesity and have been overweight nearly always.

I think the very small first group of people are the ones who likely can use mj, lose the weight, then come off and keep the weight off by continuing healthy habits. They've returned to what's normal for their body.

Then there is the other group whose body weight set point is high because they have the disease of obesity. The medication controls the symptoms of the disease ( the weight) but as soon as you come off the medication, the symptoms come back, much like high blood pressure for example.

I am definitely in this latter group. I anticipate being on this medication, maybe in a newer form and smaller dose, forever.

LollyWillow · 26/02/2025 10:08

Hi all, W2D2 and, it may be too early to say, but I think the suppression has finally started. I couldn't eat even half of my dinner last night and have just forced myself to eat a satsuma because I realised I hadn't had breakfast.
But really I'm here to say that a very odd thing happened yesterday. I'd been cleaning all day and by 4.30 was desperate for a treat. Chocolate covered marzipan is my favourite thing. I have a bar in the fridge and eat it a slice at a time when I want something sweet. I got myself a slice. And. It was horrible; it's not that I suddenly disliked the taste, but more that my body was just rejecting it. I forced myself to swallow the small piece I nibbled on and threw the rest away. Lesson learned. I guess it'll be a cup of tea from now on.

Littlebitpsycho · 26/02/2025 10:28

Guys, is it possible to be losing weight too quickly?

SW 13.11
W1 13.6
W2 12.12
W3 12.5

So that's 20lb in 3 weeks, and only on 2.5mg. Is this still water weight?

I mean I'm not complaining but just didn't think it would be this fast when I still manage 1200-1400 calories a day!

Are you eating properly, lots of protein and fibre? Have you calculated what your calorie deficit should be? The James smith Academy free calculator is good and accurate for this.

Littlebitpsycho · 26/02/2025 10:48

@TriangleLight um...probably not? I usually eat fruit during the day as I rarely get hungry, but dinner is usually a 'proper' meal (cottage pie, spaghetti, roast dinner)

I don't drink alcohol and i don't snack

I've just done that calculator and it think my target intake should be just over 2000 calories - that seems crazy!

How old are you? When I was a teenager and in my twenties I could lose weight quickly. It slowed down by 30 and now in my 50's it's far slower.

TriangleLight · 26/02/2025 10:56

Then I think it is too quick and likely to be unhealthy with the potential side effects of sudden extreme weight loss. Make the effort to eat proper protein rich foods during the day, even in small amounts at a time.

You also should be learning healthy habits so you can manage better when you are at a healthy weight and this wouldn’t be sustainable
