November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

I have decided today that new clothes are going to be my friend. I needed to buy a sports bra today 💪, and thought I’d need the smaller smalls (turns out I just needed not to leave it 2 years before buying new bras). But when I look in the mirror I still can’t get past the fact that I don’t look like 20 year old me. Which clearly is utterly stupid, and a mission set up for failure on an epic level. But I think the best solution is to stop engaging with undressed me in changing rooms, and only engage with dressed-in-new-clothes me 😁

Have had a lovely journey home reading about all of your successes (big and small).

murraymcgill · 07/02/2025 20:59

@Mounjaropen yeah made the toilet block and were doing our best to learn him but he's hard work

Yeah, I had the same experience. Was quite shocked when I was feeling quite good to look down in the changing room with the harsh overhead lighting and think ‘Christ my body’s wrinkly and not at all like my 20-year-old self’ 😂

I can't remember how many weeks I've been on MJ but I started in mid-November. Lost 19lbs so far and want to lose another 7lbs. I've kept to 5mg since my second pen but decided to order a 7.5mg pen to help me with the final push. I haven't picked it up yet but am slightly regretting ordering it as I've had really bad problems with constipation this week. I've been eating a few dried apricots and prunes to keep me regular but sadly things have not gone well this week. It has been downright painful especially last night and I suspect I have given myself piles ☹️. I got upset about it last night as it was quite frightening. I'm not going to go into details but it was very unpleasant and scary. I've taken some senna pod tablets this morning and bought some kiwi fruit so am hoping things will improve.

Sorry to read this. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. How’s your exercise? I find that after a good walk, things get moving especially if I’ve had a black coffee!

Hello 👋 how is everyone?! After debating whether to end my mounjaro journey as I’m close to target weight I have decided to order one more pen. I did one 2.5mg pen and then two 5mg pen although only took 3.75mg as 5mg was toooo much. Ordered another 5mg and debating whether to try a final 5mg shot to get me over the final couple of kg line. But then I may regret it when I’m vomiting with explosive diarrhoea for days again 😂😂 but either way absolutely my last pen. I’m 5kg to go! 14.1 kg down since 3rd November !

Well done! Great losses!

Those changing room mirrors are the worst!?!!! I am also feeling better, and am pleased with my first new sports bra for about 100 years. Who needs 20 🤣

Mounjaropen · 07/02/2025 17:49

Well firstly, bother the doctor. Other people bother them for sweet FA. You've earned your appointment. Secondly, you are achieving amazing results, so happy for you! Do not ever be ashamed of any starting weight - behind every starting number here is a story. Keep going, you've got this 💪

Thank you, I know your right about the GP, I am going to have a review with pharmacy for my blood pressure as I think the Dr wants me on medication….but I know it will only be while I’m losing weight.

I am going to speak to pharmacy and then make an appointment with Dr, nothing to lose by asking !!

IHateMozzies · 07/02/2025 23:03

Wow there’s a new thread. Sorry not keeping up, hope everyone is okay x

random223 · 08/02/2025 08:36

Thanks for the new thread.

W14D7 for me
SW: 14 stone
CW: 11 st 12
GW : 10st ish

Lost 2lbs this week which is good but didn't really eat very healthily so will try harder next week.

Well done everyone.

BeNavyScroller · 08/02/2025 08:46

Injection 11 for me yesterday so weigh in today

47F 5’3”

SW. 12 stone 2
CW. 10 stone 0
GW 1 10 stone whoop
GW2. 9 stone

A bit disappointed that the scale is sticking on having a 10 at the beginning but here’s to hitting the 9s this week!

That would be my lowest since 2013. I’ve bobbed between 10 and 12 stone since. I’m determined to get below 10 this time and stay there.

Smaller smalls news - I’ve ordered myself 3 bra and brief sets from the lemonade dolls sale. I hope they are supportive enough! First time I’ve bought matching briefs in maybe 25 years. What a thin person splurge!

Congrats on the losses! And the new jeans! I think right now is a tricky time of year - not quite winter and not spring. I'd concentrate on gathering styles for April maybe? I'd style barrel leg jeans with a spring coloured knit and funky trainers?

Thank you - strangely yesterday I ordered a pair of converse high top platform trainers with this sort of look in mind!

LilyRose88 · 08/02/2025 09:23

I'm off on holiday in 2 weeks time to Guatemala and Belize. I have a number of pairs of linen trousers In my holiday wardrobe which are now loose but still wearable so I will take those. Ditto t shirts, so I don't need any more of those. My holiday dresses are all too big so I might buy a couple if I can find anything suitable in the shops next week. I've found some swimsuits which I haven't worn for years which now fit me, which was a nice surprise. Might need some shorts if I can find any nice ones in the shops. Next had some but they didn't suit me unfortunately.

WellyBootsandPuddleSuits · 08/02/2025 09:26

Our fearless leader and biggest cheerleader @Mounjaropen enjoy your day at the rugby today in your size 10’s! I’m jealous on both counts. Although I have gone through my archive of various sized England t shirts and am pleased to fit comfortably in the smallest one I own currently. Shame it’s an L and the player has retired but I’m still taking it as a win!

murraymcgill · 08/02/2025 09:27

Back to normal me this morning thank god so it's a eventful day out with step grand son and DP so we'll see what it brings usuall back here like a burst couch

MsRumpole · 08/02/2025 11:01

Anyone else using Shotsy? I love seeing the correlation of weight loss and the amount of MJ in my system!

Ralala · 08/02/2025 11:04

Hey!!

I am a huge vinted fan. Great for buying some inexpensive holiday clothes that you can sell on after your holiday.

quick question…. Today is Jab day but my new pen isn’t due for delivery until Tuesday . Do I jab on Tuesday when it comes or should I wait until next Saturday?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/02/2025 11:20

Me! I love it. I spend a disproportionate amount of time admiring my graph.

Pumpkinforever · 08/02/2025 11:26

@Ralala I think you can yab within 4 days and so keep to your Saturday schedule. I looked into it for my recent holiday but put my ‘big smalls’ on and took bonus dose.

off to Sainsbury’s/ m&s to buy some cheap size 16 smalls in hope of buying nicer size 14 smalls in a month or so. Not sure I am mentally ready for matching sets yet @BeNavyScroller maybe if I ever reach 14/12 bracket

@LilyRose88 I just about got away with my swimsuit in India but will deffo need to buy a new one by the summer (she hopes). It was great feeling finding holiday stuff that fitted me at the back of the wardrobe

BlueWalker · 08/02/2025 11:32

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 08/02/2025 11:20

Me! I love it. I spend a disproportionate amount of time admiring my graph.

Me three! Just entered this week's results having dared a 5th dose insulin syringe extraction. So, while I'm at it:
W13 D1
SW 16st 4lbs
CW 13st 11lbs
GW 10st (ish)
Dose: 7.5mg
Total loss so far: 2st 6lbs
I decided not to buy clothes while I was losing weight but had a 50% off voucher so I did slip. A shirred denim maxi dress a size smaller than I normally buy was delivered as I was doing the injection and it fits. So that's a new outfit for work on Monday sorted!

Pumpkinforever · 08/02/2025 11:32

@MsRumpole i use nutracheck. I get a colourful bar chart showing my progress. I can switch between stones, pounds, bmi etc. And I get badges for amount of weight loss. At the moment the amount of weight I have lost is still less than the amount I have to lose as I am a tubby but I am getting there. The half way mark is a celebration point.

Does anyone use Ashford pharmacy for MJ? Thinking of switching from Lloyds.

MsRumpole · 08/02/2025 14:17

I was initially slightly disappointed by the suppression on 5mg but one pen in I am really impressed. I just left half a coffee and half a Costa all day wrap which is NOT normal.

sumbum · 08/02/2025 14:47

Week12 day 1
SW 92KG
CW 81.6
TW 65ish

Currently sticking to 5mg

Hello all! Well done on all your losses! Mine is rather slow but at the same time more than i would have lost otherwise! I'm also deliberately sticking to a lower dose for as long as possible.

Not a single person has commented or noticed anything!

Ive seen a few doctor led posts talking about fast loss being muscle mass vs slow loss is being fat? Im sure its not that simple!!

Im off on holiday for half term so didnt want to risk going up and having side effects whilst away. When i come back i shall be fasting for ramadan so i figured 5mg for this period is probably more sensible, i will then look at going up once all this is over. Sound sensible?

I was hoping to be a size 12 by this holiday but am firmly a 14!! Again, still better than buldging out of my 16 clothes!! Im trying to make do with older bits of clothing and my more roomy wardrobe and have only bought a few things which is very sensible of me!

For anyone else not sure about going up a dose i find each week is very different in terms of loss and supression. So whilst ive had weeks where i have plateaued on 5mg or lost very little I'll have then have weeks with a bigger loss.

LED masks! I noticed a difference after 4 uses, particularly on my jowls which i did not expect! I went for the cheaper Stylpro option after some research and am very happy with it!

random223 · 08/02/2025 15:59

I am hoping to reward myself with some style update treats as part of my weight loss plan. The aim for my next milestone is to buy some new perfume/eau de parfum but the last time I bought perfume was in about 2005!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a perfume for someone in their early 50s that is neither too 'old lady' but not too 'young'. I used to wear Chanel no. 19 if that helps! I feel so utterly clueless!

lostinchaos · 08/02/2025 16:11

Happy Saturday everyone! Great to hear all the positive updates of smaller sizes and continuing weight loss success 🥰

I was wondering if anyone has any good responses to comments about your weight-loss? People are starting to comment when they see me, which is obviously well intended but i find it makes me squirm! I'm trying to just say thank you and change the subject... but is there a better way to respond?

Also increasingly they ask how I have lost the weight, which is awkward for me, as I have not told anyone (not even husband) about using mounjaro! I know i should be honest but my husband is very judgey about using medication to lose weight, so it would open a whole can of worms! Also I don't feel like random mum's in the playground who have previously been a bit bitchy about my appearance deserve the truth! Currently I'm mumbling about exercise, eating better and dry January... but was wondering if there is a better way to handle the questioning!

PinkArt · 08/02/2025 16:19

You could buy some sample sets @random223 and then you can enjoy exploring what works best for you. Lots of big brands have them and while I wince slightly at paying for samples, they do work well for experimenting. Penhaligons, Liberty, Jo Loves, Killian, Maison Margiela, Jo Malone, Miller Harris....
I've probably bought a thousand perfumes since 2005 as food isn't the only area I've lacked self control 🤦🏻‍♀️
