November ‘24 Starters Thread 7 - The one where we might need smaller smalls 😉

1000 replies

Mounjaropen · 06/02/2025 08:15

Welcome to thread 7 to MN weight loss friends old and new!

Feel free to lurk or post, absolutely no judgement here, just support and encouragement as we move beyond the looooongest month and into February. Love is in the air for our new smaller selves and discovering clothes we use to wear ❤️

I’m on W14 D4 and on my third 5mg pen
F in my early 50’s
H 5’ 5.5”
SW 13st 11lb
CW 11st 9.2lb
GW 10st (maybe 9st 7lb if I don’t look like a melted candle)
Total loss so far 29.2lbs

Recommend the Shotsy app to monitor MJ in the system and pleasing graphs to look at…plus the MeThreeSixty body scan app to monitor inch loss for the weeks where weight loss is slow but you might have lost body fat etc. Both are free.

Feel free to swap recipes that might inspire anyone in a food rut, tips for side effects, exercise tips, tips for titrating up or down and we love a beauty/ style chat too 🥰

And today I treated myself to some Clarins lip oil balm (No 3 lychee) as a well done to me treat 😁 lovely moisturising stuff with a pop of colour.

Ooh lovely!

Slow loser here 😔😔😔

Started 25th Oct
F 50. (3 years post menopause!)
SW 12.7
CW 11.10
Total slow loss 11lbs.

In 15 weeks 🤷🏽‍♀️😖😔

I don't count calories but eat very limited.
& I would be surprised if it was over 12-1600 a day!

A typical day consists of

Bowl of fruit & fibre
Banana
Protein yogurt
Apple & tablespoon of peanut butter
Protein shake
Black coffee x 4
1-2litres of water (not consistently) but average. (I wish I could drink more water)!
1 Cup of tea
1 Highlight hot chocolate with protein collagen powder!

Sometimes I might have a handful of almonds or a small meal scrambled egg on toast!

I don't normally eat meals & tend to graze for mealtimes.

Any suggestions welcomed (I don't cook meals so plain basic food for me)
🙏🏻🫶🏼

I think its possible that your body might have slipped into starvation mode? Could you wake up your metabolism by eating a piece of protein and some salad/veg followed by fresh fruit?

Thank you for the new thread @Mounjaropen !

So grateful for these threads and support. If I was on my own I’d definitely feel alone and less motivated.

Stats again:

F, 44
SW 16 stone 7
CW 14 stone 10
GW 11 stone (with mini targets of 14 stone, 12 stone 7) (though any half stone marker is exciting!)

LED face mask update - sadly not much to report on just yet. I got the Shark one and started using it with blemish mode, but my existing breakout of spots were annoying me so much I had to get more acne cream from the GP, and the instructions say not to use it with acne treatment so I paused the mask for now. Ideally I would have given it longer as I do think my skin was improving with it, just not fast enough given the state I’d let my skin get to. Initial observations: very easy to use, the under eye cooling is lovely, mask is quite heavy though.

In happier news my skin has tolerated the acne cream well this time (previously it seemed to burn it!) so that’s something! Will restart LED mask work this weekend and report back in a few weeks when it’s had a chance to do its thing.

I’ve also been rather rash and ordered a pair of (admittedly not expensive) new jeans in a style I wouldn’t normally brave. The barrel leg. Normally wide leg anything makes me look like a pair of tree trunks, but I’m bored of leggings and bootcut jeans (I’m in such a style rut!) so will see how I get on when they arrive.

Any fashion tips on what is in right now and would suit a chubby 5ft 6 lady would be much appreciated 😁

Congrats on the losses! And the new jeans! I think right now is a tricky time of year - not quite winter and not spring. I'd concentrate on gathering styles for April maybe? I'd style barrel leg jeans with a spring coloured knit and funky trainers?

Thanks for new thread.
I'm on the train to Cornwall for the weekend. I'm hoping I'll do enough walking to offset any food.

The email from medexoress was a relief. I'm hopeful they'll make any transition easy for existing customers.

Have a lovely weekend!

I’m not massively in the zone either - wish I’d gone up to 7.5mg instead of getting a second 5mg pen. I could jab extra tomorrow, but I’m away on Sat night so I think I’ll do 5mg tomorrow (dose 3 from this pen) and then do dose 4 plus a bit extra to make it up to 7.5mg the week after.

Enjoy the night off!

New thread!

Getting dressed for work is taking me ages at the moment. What's too big, just right, still too small? Plus smart enough for my new job which is surprisingly corporate when everywhere else even in the city seems to have gone to jeans and trainers.

Basically I've gone from a 16 to a 14 and a 34JJ to a 34HH 😀

Have been a bit more hungry the last couple of days and a bit more tired, which I'm guessing is mostly hormonal.

Enjoy the sartorial dilemmas! Lovely feeling!

Weekly update Week 11 weigh in and lost 4lb.
2nd dose of my 2nd 5mg pen, I take the 5th dose so will decide in next few weeks if I’m going up, but if I continue as I am I will stay on 5mg, as feeling great on it, and no side effects 😁

Happy as had a maintain last week after 4 days away in nice hotel….so nice that we are going again next week😱

SW 28 stone 1lb - OMG I’m so ashamed of that.
CW 25 stone 13…so happy to be in the 25s
GW…..well not sure of end goal as I’m 5ft 5in and think the ideal weight for my height just won’t be achievable due to the surplus skin I am bound to have….so maybe get to 11 stone or size 14…I have no clue….anyway mini goal next is get to 3 stone loss, so 12lb away.

I love ready how everyone is doing, have a great, side effect free week everyone x x

Ohhh forgot to say had a annual blood test this week and the nurse at my Dr was really interested in Mounjaro a few of her family and friends were on it and she agreed how fantastic it is….she suggested I speak to my Dr about getting it as my blood pressure is high and I am going to be on it a long time….so will see, trouble is I don’t like to bother Dr for appointment.

I have been to the gym 2x this week and am getting over 10k steps too.

I’m away with work again 2 more times this month so I need to be strong and resist temptation

Well, I've managed to 'accidentally' eat 100g of chocolate this evening. Suspect I'm going to feel quite sick, and I'm struggling not to go into a self recriminatory spiral about it.

I bought it planning to eat a bit at a time which has been fine with previous dark chocolate in my cupboard, but this was a toblerone type bar from marks (more delicious) and I didn't even realise it was that much chocolate until I'd eaten it all.

I think we all need a 'fuck it' day every now and again. Did it taste nice?

I've had my first creme egg this week. For the first time ever, one was enough. So weird.

Fab! 👏

I am also loving all the comments about achieving our lowest weight since... it helps to have these little wins before we reach our ultimate goals. For me, I am currently at my lowest weight since before I started trying for kids in 2015. Unfortunately I had a very late baby loss, followed by a number of miscarriages... and honestly by the time I managed to safely deliver my two children, I just haven't found the motivation to tackle my ever increasing weight. I love food and cooking, indulged in too much wine and did not do enough exercise... it seems such a simple to thing to solve but I would never have got this far without mj.

Thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen . No smaller smalls yet but my current ones are definitely loser. As soon as I'm confidently down a size I'm off to restock as most of my pants are in a sorry state at the moment.

Just a pound off this week which I'm a bit gutted about. Having words with myself though as that's still a pound and they all count.

This takes me down the weight I was at when I was last naked with someone (why yes it has been a while 😭). It's a good milestone as while I can pretend I don't need external validation, knowing someone found this sexy does make me feel better about my body.

I think a woman who feels sexy, is sexy. Go forth and shine in your lose pants my friend 😉

Now that's just showing off @Pumpkinforever ! Did you start to gain after your gallbladder op? That's what happened to me. I lost about 4 stone, had the op when I was almost at goal, carried on eating exactly the same way but started to gain it back at the rate I'd lost it. At some point I just stopped trying because there didn't seem to be any point.

I lost a stone before my gall bladder op. After the op in 2011 it has just crept up and up so I put on 4 stone 😭. Over the years I have tried and failed, for various reasons/excuses, at what seemed like a million diets. I followed WLI threads from July 24 before finally joining the November gang - finding my tribe.

Ooh thanks for the new thread @Mounjaropen your title is very prophetic for me. As I was mulling over the smaller smalls in Asda Home just this week as one does when on MJ. 😍
Sadly weight loss has completely stalled for me for a second time since our shared journeys began. It’s a mystery though because clothes are becoming ever baggier and people starting to notice the two stone plus loss. I just did a so called bonus dose of 5mg last night but I have the 7.5 pen at the ready and may even feel tempted to do a top up from that one early. Could anyone who is cleverer than I am kindly advise me how many clicks from a 7.5 pen to get 2.5 dose out ( to add to the 5mg I did last night). I’d like another little whoosh on the scales but it seems a bit out of reach right now despite the careful eating. All I can think is all this extra protein /low carb I’m doing must be actually building some muscle. Which is why the scales are no longer shifting. 🤔Any ideas wise ones?

I agree - if you are training, the scales may not move but the clothes fit will state other wise. Enjoy the feeling of flappy sleeves and waistbands that are not cutting off your circulation!

Can't believe it missed the start of a new thread!! I've been so manic at work and home that I've not posted for ages.

W12 D6
SW 15st 10.6 BMI 32.7
CW 13st 12.8 BMI 28.8
Total lost so far on MJ 25.8.
Total lost since Sep - 31.4 lbs.

Official weigh in and shot number 13 tomorrow.

A little happy dance this morning as my weight dropped into the 13's for the first time since 2019. And my BMI went below 29.

Just can't believe I'm seeing those numbers. It's fab! So in 12 weeks to lose 25lbs is more than I ever expected. And it's slow, about 1.8lbs a week with the odd extra whoosh thrown in.

I've titrated up very slowly in that time. Hanging around 2.5mg for ages, and slowly creeping up towards 4mg where I plan to stay for as long as possible - it stretches my pens out a bit which works for me.

I eat anywhere from 1400-1800 calories a day. Sometimes I feel like my loss should be quicker but I refuse to starve so am fine with this!!

Little to no side effects at all any more. I don't sleep very well D1 and D2, I burp, and if I don't drink enough water can have mild constipation. But that's it.

The only annoying side effect is I get a reaction at my injection site. Doesn't matter where or what needle I use. Within 24 hours it goes red, puffy and itchy. It goes down again by D4.

Still have a way to go. I want to get into the 11 stones - I don't remember ever being that slim, which would put my BMI in the healthy range. And then looking to maintain so I am interested in which pharmacies do maintenance.

I do find that I miss food a bit. Not masses, as I eat really well and enjoy my food. But I miss sinking into a bottle of rose or demolishing a bar of dairy milk. I just don't want to do it anymore. But I miss the 'comfort' of it a little bit.

Congratulations! Fab losses!

What a joyful thread! Everyone is doing so well and to those who have stalled keep going because I don’t think it means your body isn’t changing - sometimes it seems to be inches rather than stones - I have no idea why or how this works but seems to be normal for most people.

Last weekend I went shopping for a new wardrobe, I bought fitted jumpers and trendy jeans and I actually look slim in them. For years I’ve worn oversized clothes to hide various lumps and bumps so loosing weight had made my old clothes look quite ridiculous. For the first time in a very long time I feel good.

Wishing everyone a great weekend 🌟

Love the positivity in this post! Enjoy your new wardrobe and the admiring glances I am sure it'll bring. And congrats on the losses 💪

Hello new thread!!

Weigh in today and I lost 3lbs which is miraculous after I ate pizza and an afternoon tea last weekend. Since being ill in January my diet is a mess and I really need to push myself to eat mid week. Nowhere near any of my protein/veg/water goals. So that will be a focus next week as I’m back to strength work at the gym.

I am so close to a 3stone loss, only 2lbs away! And only a pound away from the next number down on the scales, which would put me at my lowest weight since 2017. And yet still so far to go 🫣

SW 18st 12.5lbs
CW 16st 1lbs
GW 12st 7lbs

Well done! 3 stones is such an amazing result!

Well firstly, bother the doctor. Other people bother them for sweet FA. You've earned your appointment. Secondly, you are achieving amazing results, so happy for you! Do not ever be ashamed of any starting weight - behind every starting number here is a story. Keep going, you've got this 💪

I can't remember how many weeks I've been on MJ but I started in mid-November. Lost 19lbs so far and want to lose another 7lbs. I've kept to 5mg since my second pen but decided to order a 7.5mg pen to help me with the final push. I haven't picked it up yet but am slightly regretting ordering it as I've had really bad problems with constipation this week. I've been eating a few dried apricots and prunes to keep me regular but sadly things have not gone well this week. It has been downright painful especially last night and I suspect I have given myself piles ☹️. I got upset about it last night as it was quite frightening. I'm not going to go into details but it was very unpleasant and scary. I've taken some senna pod tablets this morning and bought some kiwi fruit so am hoping things will improve.

Ralala · 07/02/2025 18:07

Hello 👋 how is everyone?! After debating whether to end my mounjaro journey as I’m close to target weight I have decided to order one more pen. I did one 2.5mg pen and then two 5mg pen although only took 3.75mg as 5mg was toooo much. Ordered another 5mg and debating whether to try a final 5mg shot to get me over the final couple of kg line. But then I may regret it when I’m vomiting with explosive diarrhoea for days again 😂😂 but either way absolutely my last pen. I’m 5kg to go! 14.1 kg down since 3rd November !
