Does anyone know when new guidelines come in for online pharmacy? I am very close to being cut off I think as BMI is now 24 but petrified of having to come off completely

My provider sent me a mail this week telling me they were compliant with the guidelines and my treatment would continue as normal. I am declaring a BMI of just under 25 but actually it's 23.2. I am on 10mg (down from 15mg) and my weight is steady.

The new guidelines aren't to stop prescribers supplying it to you if you are maintaining at a healthy weight but it is to stop people staying on 15mg and continuing to lose weight so they end up with an unhealthily low BMI. I am being cautious myself though hence declaring a weight about 10lbs higher than my true weight.

I've had similar emails from a few providers, as I have jumped around for pricing.

In a very nice bit of symmetry, week 48 of my weight loss journey has me at a total 48kg lost. It's not been as smooth as 1kg a week in real life, but a great milestone.

My BMI is now 26.5. So close!

Wonkypictureframe · 10/02/2025 07:54

That’s amazing, @KeepingUndercover. Absolutely so close.

I just bloody did my jab and left the pen next to me and realised after an hour my heated throw has made it all warm! It’s going to be cooked now isn’t it 😭

Oh no!!! Fingers crossed it's okay.

Oh no! Was there much left in the pen?

Once open it needs to be kept under 30 degrees. Thirty degrees is pretty hot - I couldn't be under a heated throw which was at that temperature.

I would still use it next week and try to monitor if I felt it was less effective.

I certainly will still use it
just gonna have to pray it works
my heated throw was hot. Hot enough to make pen hot. Fml.

My first two week holiday in years later this month and the temperature is around 30 degrees. Does anyone have recommendations for keeping your pen cool whilst away?

I plan to start titrating down when I get back, but am scared to start before going away.

Thebaldprimadonna · 10/02/2025 17:13

News! As MJ doesn't seem to be working for me any longer I have talked to Oushk and I am going to give Wegovy a whirl. @ObsidianTree Can I stay? 🤞🏻🙏

Moanranger · 10/02/2025 23:17

Hi all,
Well done on your losses and staying the same. I am now on the last day of my holiday & waiting at the airport for flight to London. So as of this morning I am 1.5 lbs over goal. I expect after the flight I may bump up due to bloat, etc.
I found I was able to manage my food intake really well. Sometimes, actually hungry, so then would eat, but not too much. Occasionally skipping meals, esp after a previous large/rich meal. Restrained alcohol intake, lots of soup! But I enjoyed myself & never felt deprived.
Staying on 5mg.
I don’t know if anyone else has had this, but after being at my goal weight of 66kg (10 st 5lb or 145 lb) for awhile, I now think I should drop to 63.5kg, which would put me at a BMI of 24.8. I think this would (I hope) reduce the midriff podge. My face hasn’t suffered too much, and in fact looks better (more jaw & cheekbone definition.)
I will report after I get back, a pen is on order from Oushk & scheduled for delivery Sat

KrankyKumquat · 11/02/2025 13:42

@Moanranger
Well done, that sounds like a very successful holiday. Ignore the scales for a couple of days now, that airplane swelling is nasty.

Just had a bit of a binge in GoOutdoors to replace my walking trousers. Came out with lined, unlined and a puffer jacket (which I always vowed never to wear as a fat bird). All in size 12. It's bloody unbelievable....So, feeling much better than I was on Sunday when I had a proper tantrum about having nothing to wear 😅. Just got to get to grips with a swimming cossie now.

Notsuchafattynow · 11/02/2025 19:08

@Moanranger I kept moving my goal three times!

I think my original goal felt pretty unrealistic at the start. But once you start to drop, lower weights start to feel more realistic. I've settled on 22.5 bmi which for me is 8st 12lbs and a size 10.

ThirdStorm · 11/02/2025 19:36

@KrankyKumquat I’ve recently brought a longline puffer coat, something I always swore never to try as I’d feel too “Michelin man”! I love it!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 11/02/2025 21:29

I think I only managed to get about 5mg or so out of the end of the last pen as I lost track of what I'd taken out of it. I've been looking back at my stats and realised I haven't actually lost any weight for about 3mths 😮.

I'm around 24.5 bmi and that's pretty consistent but does go up to 24.8 a couple of times a week. I'm thinking I should go back up to 7.5mg and then possibly even 10mg to get a few more pounds off. Tried my wedding dress on again and despite not actually losing any weight in the 3mths since buying it, it seems bigger every time I put it on. It's at least a size too big - I could grab a whole handful of material at the back so now I'm pretty worried.

I feel like now the dress doesn't fit anyway, I might as well lose some more weight to look more trim as I do still look chubby. It's hard to settle on a weight that is suitable. I've never wanted to be thin so I don't want to drop too much lower.

FlappyFish · 11/02/2025 22:00

I’ve moved my goal numerous times. I never thought I’d get to 11 stone. Then 10. Then I liked the sound of 9.

I now maintain at 8.12 as my lowest going up to 9.4 on period. I’m also properly exercising now and have muscles developing!

Exitstrategist · 12/02/2025 20:00

Yes- I’m another who keeps shifting the goal posts and now think I need to be 55kgs. My goal initially was 60kg. I am currently 57kg which I have never been as an adult. I am 5 foot 7 so I know I am now slim (size 10). My brain still sees a bigger person in the mirror. I have a tendency to focus on the negatives (stomach) and also such a fear of piling all this weight back on so I keep thinking “let’s give myself some room when all this goes tits up”. If I’m honest I haven’t changed my eating habits really in a positive way, or reduced alcohol or started exercising. So I am slim only because of MJ. That really scares me as I feel this will need to be a lifelong commitment to taking it. Not sure if anyone out there is experiencing the same? But my goodness did I feel good last Saturday night- wearing something I didn’t feel awful in and actually thinking I look more like myself. That’s an addictive feeling….

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/02/2025 21:20

@Exitstrategist this is exactly how I feel. I'm only slim due to MJ. I was supposed to exercise but never really got round to it and I still eat crap every day. MJ just made it easy for me to be lazy.

I went and tried on a couple of wedding dresses today seeing as mine is so big on me. I tried on a bridal 12 so that was probably a 10 in real sizes. Omg it looked amazing - my stomach looked completely flat. There was plenty of room in it too (except for the hips as it was a mermaid style). My boobs have taken a serious hit though.

The lady who helped me with the dress said she'd been on MJ but it hasn't worked much for her. She gave up a while back but hasn't put ANY of the weight back on so that's something for me to hope for when I come off.

roselilylavender · 13/02/2025 22:32

It's interesting to see the comments about what some of you are eating and how you're relying on the MJ as I have really realised the same over the past couple of weeks. I'm on 12.5 now and finally - for the first time since about July - have proper suppression again. As I'm almost having to force myself to eat, I just want favourite foods, ideally quick & easy ones. Like toast. I've also got really bored of protein whereas I never get bored of carbs. Today's menu has been
Breakfast - nothing
Lunch - poached eggs on a protein bagel with some chopped veg
Afternoon snack - apple
Dinner - pasta with a mushroom sauce
and then I've just had a couple of squares of Dairy Milk.
This is not hitting the recommended macros!
Along with the suppression, I am finally having some NSV again. My rings feel loose, I was wearing an ancient gilet the other day and felt cold so simply zipped it up and can see the vague outline of three ribs. I'm still not actually losing weight though! I've stopped weighing every day in the hope they, if I just do it a couple of times a week, there is more chance of a whoosh but it hasn't happened yet. Let's see!
I am having the MJ bum effect but, as I have always had a disproportionately large bum, this is a good thing as I feel it's more in proportion.

ThirdStorm · 14/02/2025 08:02

If I were to assess my diet/eating habits I'd say they are pretty good on the whole. I'm slowly realising I'm always going to have to eat in this balanced healthy way all the time otherwise I won't maintain. The moment I overindulged I can't stop. I've had a few nights out where I've had a lovely time - eaten some indulgent food (and a pudding) and drunk some alcohol which as an occasional treat is totally fine, I just need to stop afterwards. Honestly that's always been my problem!

I've been on 2.5mg since May. I still feel I'm getting the benefits of taking it and plan to continue taking this year, I'm stockpiled up to October as I'm 10 day spacing. I wouldn't say my suppression is high but most of the time I'm not craving foods and just stick to my meal plan (which is lunch and dinner, no breakfast or snacks) and I'm getting to 1200-1500 calories (keeping carbs lowish at 80-100g and trying to get to 80-100g of protein) which is about where I need to be to maintain.

Exercise still alludes me.

Moanranger · 14/02/2025 13:33

Just an update post holiday - my last day I weighed 1.5 lbs over goal, three days back I am now 1.2 kg below goal! I am pretty sure I was retaining fluid on holiday (it was hot!) so now that’s gone, I am at target or below. I have three pounds to lose to achieve new target.
I am sticking with 5mg. It knocks the corners off my appetite so that I can make rational food choices. I am occasionally quite hungry & will eat a largish meal, but then almost always follow with a v light next meal. No snacking.
My food choices are pretty good, I avoid carbs, prioritise protein, and have very little sugar, plenty of veg (soup!)
But what a transformation from pre-MJ! To simply think, yes, I’ll set a new goal, and know that I can achieve it, no angst, drama, frustration or self-doubt.

Hu guys, sorry, I've been away for a while. I'm a year in and 30kg down, almost at a healthy BMI, it's 26 at the moment. I've always injected into my stomach, has anyone else experienced pain injecting since loosing weight? Not sure whether to try thighs instead. Many thanks.

Yes - I injected into my thighs for 10 months but as they got leaner the injections got a bit painful as there wasn't much fat. For the last 4 weeks I have been injecting in my stomach as that still has fat. The pain was momentary and I could have carried on in my thighs if I had too but why have a second of pain if you don't need to.

WI this morning gave me 1.5lb off, taking me irritatingly close to the 10’s 😤

SW - 14.10
CW - 11.0.1/4

For a long time I didn’t know what I wanted my goal weight to be, perhaps because I never believed that I’d actually get there after so many failed attempts before. As I got closer, I decided that being into healthy BMI would do me. I got there and was comfortable but decided then that I want my weight to start with a 10. So that’s where I’m headed now, and I think I want my target weight to be around 10.7. I reckon I’ll have that by the end of next month then will need to either start dosing less frequently or try dropping down to 2.5 again.
