I’m 45 & have been having Botox for about 7yrs. I have it once a year & haven’t noticed a difference since starting MJ. I absolutely won’t be touching fillers but would really like a breast reduction & lift.

ObsidianTree · 08/02/2025 10:28

Quick check in from me.

The chat on Botox/surgery etc is interesting. Not something I've considered before but maybe if the skin doesn't bounce back as well. I feel like my face doesn't look too good and I'm starting to see more lose skin. So maybe I'll consider surgery one day.

In other news, I have finally got too a healthy BMI for my ethnicity!

After staying the same weight for a few months now, I have made it to 10st 10lbs! I went back up to 15mg to see if that would get some lbs off and it did work! So looks like being on 12.5mg just maintained my weight. I will go back down to 12.5mg now and take it from there. Would like to get to 10.7lbs to give me a buffer but will see.

Hurray!!!! So pleased for you.

I’ve lost 2lbs in two days back on 2.5mg. 2 more to get back to my end weight. And it’s been painless as ever. I really hope I can do this month on, month off until the maintenance drugs (pills?) are fully with us.

Flapearedknave · 07/02/2025 21:49

How have you found it? I'm genuinely scared!

All good to be honest.

For me, the filler was needed in my forehead rather that cheeks, and it's made a huge difference.

I still look my age (55) but everything is 'higher'.

KeepingUndercover · 08/02/2025 10:48

Congrats @ObsidianTree, that's fantastic. Glad the 15mg did the trick.

I'm going up to 15mg for my next injection. Suppression has taken a nose dive here alongside a strange craving for jelly babies. I've been using it as an opportunity to have a go with will power but definitely time to step up. I just want this last stone gone and then I can join you all in maintenance.

KeepingUndercover · 08/02/2025 11:47

On surgery, I would definitely consider it for loose skin, I'm really worried that I'm going to have a lot of it. I'll have basically halved my body weight when I finish and I don't know if I can bounce back from that at my age. I would want to give it at least a year though to be sure I was maintaining and see how things settle. If it's things I can mostly cover up then I can probably live with it. But there's also the physical comfort issue if there's a lot. I don't want to swap the uncomfortableness of being fat in the summer for the same but due to loose skin.

Notsuchafattynow · 08/02/2025 13:10

I gave up on botox about 3 years ago as it stopped working for me. I tried Dysport in Sept and it lasted about the same. 3 months. So not difference for me.

Just doing some research on starting Mounjaro!
Say you have something coming up, a holiday, night out, etc. do you just skip that weeks injection to avoid side effects? And when you're happy with your weight loss, do you stop the injection aswell?

ThirdStorm · 08/02/2025 13:57

Sorry @Pippy1820 you won’t get much advice or support about skipping doses to overindulge on this particular thread. Most of us have been taking it 12 months and each of us have had to find our own path on how to achieve weight loss and long term maintenance that’s works for each of our particular needs. To find the balance of healthy living and lifestyle. Maybe try one of the new starter threads where you’ll find others trying to newly navigate these challenges.

ThirdStorm · 08/02/2025 14:00

I’ve still undecided on when I’ll stop MJ, But MedExpress just price matched Chemist4U so that’s at least one more pen!

If it helps, @Pippy1820, I’ve just restarted MJ in advance of a holiday deliberately. I’ve found I’ve got so much more out of a holiday when it doesn’t all feel about what I eat and drink, and I can eat lightly at an AI place and still feel satisfied. MJ helps you deprioritise what you eat (and drink, for a lot of us). It’s brilliant.

Wow, very interesting! As I haven't started yet, I am just more curious about side effects when abroad than anything else. I hope you enjoy your holiday!

I never had any adverse side effects at all even when on 15mg so didn't need to tailor my doses around holidays and events to limit side effects. However I didn't tell any friends that I was using it so didn't want my appetite to be too suppressed so I couldn't eat properly when with them. I did therefore sometimes take a dose a day or two late if I had a meal out with friends so I wouldn't be on day 2 or 3 of a dose which was when I had the most suppression. I also took 7.5mg instead of 10mg when I was on holiday so I could be more confident I would be able to eat dinner every night as there was 9 of us eating in restaurants every night. I enjoyed the holiday but couldn't wait to get home to 10mg and salads!

FlappyFish · 09/02/2025 00:11

Oh god, nothing bloody fits! Everytime I go to do something slightly out of the ordinary, the clothes I need to wear fall off me - today was my lined walking trousers as we're off on what will be a very cold, muddy trek. I'm cinching them with a belt but my OH says they look ridiculous. I was going to go swimming yesterday for the first time in years as I finally felt confident enough, but my swimsuit was too baggy even when dry. I know this is a lovely problem to have but it's costing a bloody fortune. If I won the lottery, I'd set fire to my wardrobe and start again from scratch.

Femeia · 09/02/2025 12:44

@KrankyKumquat Vinted is your friend! I have bought quite a few BNWT items there. I'm still buying at the cheaper end, just because I don't know how my shape will settle. My main expense has been new bras (Brastop) jeans and jumpers plus work trousers(Primark/Matalan) and now I need to replace my entire knicker drawer!

KrankyKumquat · 09/02/2025 12:51

@Femeia
Yes just done knickers. That really hurt as I have a lot due to camping so much (ie no laundry so have to take loads!). I really must overcome my fear of being scammed on Vinted, everyone goes on about it. TBF, my swimsuit was ancient so probably due a new one, but my lovely walking trousers is a proper tragedy I wasn't prepared for this morning 😔

Wonkypictureframe · 09/02/2025 15:31

I’ve sold and bought a lot of stuff on Vinted now and not had any scams (and my stuff that I sell is lovely!). It’s been my lifeline. I got my current lined walking trousers on there and have one pair for sale right now, as well as some non-lined ones I sold recently. I think as long as you only spend what you can comfortably afford to lose if something really is shit, you’re fine. And the prices on there are low - good as a buyer and slightly depressing as a seller!

ThirdStorm · 09/02/2025 16:15

another fan of Vinted here too! I’ve replaced so many of my favourite clothes when they got too big.

Re clothes, I just had a fantastic find at the back of one of my cupboards in the eves. I unearthed a box full of clothes that I thought I had sent to charity. I now have gems such as a beautiful red Benetton coat from Paris, wool pencil skirts and five dresses for work 🥳 I am a bit broke at the moment and finding it hard to replenish my wardrobe, so am really thrilled!

Exitstrategist · 09/02/2025 22:01

Does anyone know when new guidelines come in for online pharmacy? I am very close to being cut off I think as BMI is now 24 but petrified of having to come off completely

Reading this, I think they've already come in https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/uk-pharmacies-regulator-tightens-rules-prescribing-obesity-drugs-2025-02-04/

I just bloody did my jab and left the pen next to me and realised after an hour my heated throw has made it all warm! It’s going to be cooked now isn’t it 😭
