I've finally hit the 6st loss mark 🎉
No idea how as I haven't changed anything, but I'm happy to finally be there as I've been hovering within 3-4 pounds of it for several months.

Exitstrategist · 16/02/2025 11:20

Funny side effect to report- so difficult to shave under arms due to newfound concave!

Moanranger · 16/02/2025 14:30

So after setting a new goal on Wednesday, now, Sunday, I have reached it! Completely weird! I did come back from my hols with a stinking cold, am mostly in bed, and right off my food. Which is probably why I lost so quickly. So now I am 9st 13 1,4. I will go with this & see if it is sustainable

KrankyKumquat · 16/02/2025 15:27

@PissedOffNeighbour22
Amazing, well done! Wish we had a 'well done' reaction on here but 6st is phenomenal. Where are you on your target now?

@Exitstrategist Yes! I had no idea arm pits could go in so deep. How have skinny birds been managing to shave all these years without telling us about it? (it actually makes me feel a bit icky, reminds me of inside a chicken's thighs before putting in the oven, I think it's the sinewy bit 🤮)

@Moanranger what a great result, we weigh the same now, although I bounce around between 9.13 and 10.1 over a week, I can't help but think of my weekends as my fat days but know that's a bit silly now. Are you done now? Getting to 10st was the turning point for me - previous goals were 12st (BMI 25) and every half stone in between but at 10st, I knew I was done. I think at 5'9'' that's thin enough!

Moanranger · 17/02/2025 08:49

@KrankyKumquat As to whether I am done, not really sure. At just around 10st or a little less, my BMI is 24.8. I am 5ft 3in, so not as tall as you. I am going to see how I go for awhile, how I feel & look at this weight, or maybe keep dropping? We shall see.
The spectre of Sharon Osborne looms, though. She apparently couldn’t stop losing weight😱 On Wegovy, I think

KrankyKumquat · 17/02/2025 09:48

@Moanranger
Yes I keep thinking about her too. If I've learned anything over the last 3 months on maintenance, it's how incredibly powerful these meds really are, for me even at low doses, and how easy it would be to go to a dangerously low weight (physically it seems it would be very possible and psychologically, it's very tempting).
10st has to be my line in the sand but it requires constant vigilance and I wouldn't be at all surprised if providers build in stronger safeguards for maintainers specifically in time.

I think you'll know when you get there.

Femeia · 17/02/2025 21:41

I'm finding the "when to stop" discussion interesting. I've met my original target of 10 stone 7 (at 5'9") but now feel that getting to 10 stone might get some of my bulgy tummy off and also give me a bit of leeway. I've still got a couple more pens so think I'll keep at it, but the weight loss is very slow now even though I'm still being sensible with food 90% of the time

CiderJabs · 18/02/2025 10:19

Has anyone heard of / been diagnosed with lipoedema? I've come across an article on it and I'm convinced I have it. It's basically having too much fat on your legs when you have little / non anywhere else. The only cure is liposuction so I'm now looking into it. Is it crazy to consider having it done abroad?

I am on Wegovy now (first jab on Sat) but won't be taking it again. I feel terrible and not myself mentally 😬

I am going to switch back to MJ as soon as I can even though it wasn't working as well as before. I hate this feeling 😭

I was wondering how you were getting on. What a shame!

Fingers crossed it's a bit of a re set for you and mj does it's magic again for you.

Moanranger · 18/02/2025 15:27

@Thebaldprimadonna I took Wegovy a couple of years ago & couldn’t tolerate it, felt really anxious & depressed. V different from MJ. I hope your return works for you. Let us know how you get on.

Scalessayeek · 18/02/2025 16:12

@CiderJabs I'm looking at nords for my
Surgeries which are in Lithuania I believe. I've done a lot of research even joining Facebook and WhatsApp groups and I think they're a good balance of being cost effective and decent surgeons.

CiderJabs · 18/02/2025 16:18

@Scalessayeek how funny! I've also been reading about them and only joined the Facebook group today. Are you on our Facebook group? Maybe we can discuss it together and even consider going together as I'm petrified of going on my own!

GoingOffScript · 18/02/2025 16:45

I’m 62. My BMI is 27.5 so I’m overweight but not obese. I’m thinking of Mounjaro. I exercise 4-5 times a week. Walk the dog miles, have a decent diet and don’t feel I can do any more to “lose”. My joints are painful so it’s a fine line between my gentle running and exacerbating a back problem. My physio suggested weight loss.

I’m happy to try the injections but… what happens when you stop? I’ve spent all my life gaining then losing the same stone in weight. I’m utterly weary with it!!

Is it for me? Thanks all.

You can't get MJ with that BMI, can only be prescribed at 30+ or 27 with underlying conditions associated with weight.

You'd be better off finding one of the threads that has started recently. There is a February starters one. We are all nearly a year down the road and at a different stage.

I’ve actually come out of them all for now as I’m a massive planner and I was getting too ahead of myself. I’ll be going in October 2026 once everything has settled down (weight and skin wise) so I’m going to start looking again next summer. In an ideal world I’d have a breast lift, FDL tummy tuck and brachioplasty but I will see what they recommend nearer the time (and what they’d do in one op!)

guestusername · 18/02/2025 18:58

I think my body has made the decision for me to start dropping down - I took 3.75 yesterday and have felt like absolute shite today… to the point where a couple of mid work naps were required 😳 I’ve had backache so bad that I needed a hot water bottle, I’ve been cold despite wearing a jumper, big fluffy cardigan and being sat next to a hot radiator and general ickiness. I dropped down from 5mg because of similar side effects but never felt this crap. Right now I just feel like I want it out of my system. Back to 2.5 next week then

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 18/02/2025 19:38

Thanks @KrankyKumquat. I've since put a couple of pound back on so now back under the 6st marker 🤦🏻‍♀️. I'm at my target but don't really know how much more to try to lose. I look saggy so that's only going to get worse the more weight I drop. Not that it's easy anymore. It's taking months to drop a couple of pounds these days. I don't think I'd want to go under bmi 23 which is about 9st 5lb for me.

Sorry to hear that @Thebaldprimadonna. Hopefully MJ will start working for you again

guestusername · 19/02/2025 17:26

I feel crap again today too. Back still aching but not so much but headache and the acid indigestion has been awful today! I’m seriously thinking I might give next weeks jab a miss. This is horrible

Scalessayeek · 20/02/2025 07:47

I finally made target!! 🙌 Woop! 130 pounds down :) Also have healthier fat levels than my husband who did uber fit (does marathons!)

Now working on couch to 5k so will hopefully improve my own fitness levels too :)

ThirdStorm · 20/02/2025 08:42

@Scalessayeek I need to do c25K again. About 2 years ago I just stopped running, no idea why. Now I'm at goal weight I really have no excuse!

YouAreEffluentKim · 20/02/2025 10:21

Congratulations @Scalessayeek !! What an achievement!

I'm still 1 - 1.5kg above my target and I'd love to get there by by 1 year anniversary which is 6 March. To be honest it's a scales target only as I'm pretty much where I want to be, size wise. Would love a bit of body recomposition though as my lower stomach is still bigger than my bum so I look a bit backwards!

Skin removal etc is definitely popular right now. I'm seeing a lot of it on TikTok from the MJ 'girlies' who have just reached their goals. If I ever did do it though, I'd certainly not consider it until I felt my weight was stable for at least 18 months as I've read that your body settles and changes a bit of it's own accord in the 2 years post significant weight loss. Ultimately though I think I'm too much of a wuss to consider it. And at nearly 50, I kind of don't care about my naked body so much any more so long as I look ok in clothes. I'd definitely consider it if I was in my 30s though

Botox on the other hand is definitely in my 2025 playbook. I've also been heartily told off by my dentist for clenching my teeth which is a stress thing that I've developed in the last year. Need to explore Botox to relax the jaw I think!

Moanranger · 20/02/2025 18:41

Clothes - so now that I am not obsessing about food, I am focussing on my wardrobe. As I got fatter, I still kept hold of my favourite clothes, in the fond hope I would fit into them one day. So I have been cleaning & repairing old clothes that I still like & still fit/flatter me. For example I have a couple of Ted Baker cocktail dresses which I actually bought when I weighed more. They have side zips, but I have, strangely lost less weight there - think top of ribcage - so zip won’t go up. One I can manage with partner’s help. So I will sell the other one.
It is also so nice to be able to zip up a gilet - yesterday I had 3 layers on and still comfortably zipped - so nice!
But I now have way more dressy clothes that I can now use. A shame, but clothing trends change. I will wear one of the cocktail dresses next week when I go out to dinner for my birthday, but most of my life is lived in jeans or leggings.
