Hello everyone. I've been away for a bit, back with a new account and a slight name change. Good to hear everyone doing so well, it might be quieter but I still had plenty of posts to catch up on!

@roselilylavender I have found with the higher doses that I do get the odd week where it hits me hard, but I just continue with the same dose and end up fine again. I think sometimes you just have a bad week.

My update, I am inching closer to a healthy BMI. Currently 26.5 or something like that. Loss is slowing down a bit but I like the level of medication I'm on at the moment. I feel like I've got a good balance and can eat properly, so I'm fine with a slower loss and a bit more thinking about what I'm eating because I can eat. It feels healthier! I've also upped my exercise in an attempt to save my bum.

My first pair of new trousers when I lost weight were from Uniqlo in a size XL. I've just rebought the same pair in a medium. That was pretty exciting!

KeepUndercover · 02/03/2025 17:41

Oh I think someone was saying about still thinking they're the size they used to be. I get this. I wasn't one who was super ashamed of my size, I was quite accepting of my figure and my mental image of myself was of smaller than I was. But like I'd think I looked like me as a size 18 rather than a size 24 and I was ok with that. I haven't quite got my head round being a size 12ish. But I think my thighs are genuinely still pretty chunky when not in clothes. And my belly is stubbornly hanging on. I'm seriously hoping that the next stone disappears from them rather than anywhere else!

BlackFriYay · 02/03/2025 19:13

What's this about Oushk and GP letters and other requirements please?

I'm planning on signing up with them if they'll have me but I haven't bought a pen (from anywhere) for months as I've been working my way through a stockpile and I'm down to my last two maintenance pens.

I'm BMI 22 last time I checked, so quite a lot less than the BMI 30 most prescribers require you to be, but I do remember seeing people say that Oushk will accept you under that so long as you can prove current use.

I'm not sure how my GP will feel about being inundated with requests to write letters though. They're rushed off their feet as it is.

Wonkypictureframe · 02/03/2025 19:16

I think they just mean the letter Oushk send to your GP to say you’re getting MJ?

Oushk are currently piloting their new checks and I’ve done one to get a free consultation. They do a video call with you, check your photo ID, ask you to turn the camera on a full body shot and then step on the scales while on the call. Obviously it’s not going to totally prevent people slipping stuff into their pockets etc but it’s a reasonable thorough attempt to check you are you and you weigh what you say you do.

Ah that makes sense thank you. I misunderstood and thought they wanted the GP to write the letters.

I'm going to contact them tomorrow and request a consultation 🙂

Scalessayeek · 02/03/2025 22:18

@BlackFriYay I had to provide proof of how long I'd been on the meds so they could show they'd done their due diligence.

As part of it I chose to send my first ever letter from last year from my first prescription from medexpress. (If any prescribers have written to your Gp they will show in your nhs app).

The other letter I mentioned was the one Oushk are now preparing to send to my Dr to advise they are now prescribing. No letter from the GP needed.

Just catching up on all your lovely posts after my holiday. It was such a lovely (strange) experience on a group holiday to be described as “the slim one” - but I am! Almost a year in and now stable at 9st 10, down from 14st 2 in 12 months. (17st at my heaviest).

I’m maintaining on 15mg at the moment, but planning on titrating down after 3-4 months of being stable.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 04/03/2025 22:59

Struggling with the snacking lately. Just can't keep my hands off the food.

I've gone back up from around 6mg to 7.5mg. I altered my wedding dress at the weekend - wish I had just replaced it as there's so much excess fabric to come out

I've also just heard I've got a promotion at work. I don't think I'd have got the confidence if it wasn't for the weight loss.

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 05/03/2025 01:09

Evening All,
ADHD brain keeping me up tonight, am obsessing over booking a holiday I can't afford (at least it has stopped me being tempted to shop for clothes). Weight is finally below 76kg (just! It's 75.9kg) so sub 27 BMI is ever closer.
It has been fascinating reading on other threads about how already slim or only slightly overweight people in certain circles are all using MJ , it wouldn't have occurred to me if I hadn't spent 20 years trying and failing to lose just 10kg to move from Obese to overweight.
I have this evening ordered a pen from Oushk, I am hoping they'll let use up my 2 pen stash before placing my next order, main reason for the move is their maintenance options. I hope to get to healthy weight by the 18 month mark, and anticipate I will need ongoing support for some time before tapering down.
My face is starting to look a bit saggier, I have been taking supplements to support collagen for ages but I think they can't compensate sufficiently for the fact that I used to have more fat under my skin plumping everything out. Old face with smaller body is still preferable, as I continue to hope my health markers are improving.
Right, I really need to find a way to switch off my brain tonight, I feel tired bu wired!

JanetSnakeholeMacklin · 05/03/2025 04:59

Hey. It's been good to read everyone's updates. I haven't been on in ages, but things are going well. I'm continuing to lose relatively steadily, and am now almost at 100lbs lost since starting last day of March last year. I had a lot to lose! I'm in the "overweight" category now, after starting in stage 3 obese. My life has completely completely changed. I went on a very active adventure holiday a couple of weeks ago - I never could have done that this time last year. I go to the gym most days, and I've started a martial art which I'm loving. I also feel that I've got the old me back. It's great. I'm still on 10mg and have been since the summer - have only taken 12.5mg once, but it kills my appetite too much.
I think it will be June until I'm at my goal of 24bmi, but I'm enjoying the journey so I'm not that impatient. Size 12 in clothes now!
If anyone is reading this and considering trying .... Just go for it (after doing your research!).

ThirdStorm · 05/03/2025 08:22

@PissedOffNeighbour22 I've been snacking loads recently, more than I need and treat stuff too. I felt a bit out of control at the weekend so I had to really dig deep to stop myself. I feel okay now and I've been back on meal plan for 2 days but lets see if I can continue.

AgathaMystery · 05/03/2025 08:54

Morning all… one week to go until my 1yr anniversary- feels weird. What a year.

I’ve changed phones and lost my ‘my weight’ app which I found so motivating. I am looking for an appt that will let me load more than 2 weeks historical data if anyone knows of one?

Steady here at 69kg & a BMI of 28 - still overweight but I look okay and not gaunt which is what I’m seeing in some women. I say women as men don’t tend to look as gaunt after weight loss.

I’ve got a job interview in an hour. It’s weird, moving towards this new life where no one knows how big I was. I still regularly get comments from colleagues and friends. It makes me so uncomfortable and I can’t explain why. I think it’s because I want to be honest with them but there is so much stigma and judgement that I just cannot.

KeepUndercover · 05/03/2025 09:12

It's a week until the one year anniversary for me too @AgathaMystery, well more like 4 days now. Feels weird to have been at this so long.

Today I have crept into the next weight bracket. 69.5kg, in the 10 stone range. BMI now 25.5. So very close!

Chucklesisters · 05/03/2025 09:16

It’s my anniversary of my first order! My first jab anniversary will be this weekend. Loved having this community to undertake this journey with.

YouAreEffluentKim · 06/03/2025 07:29

Happy anniversary to me today, too! What a year it's been. This next year is going to be all about maintaining which I always find harder than losing, but I have 0 doubts that this time next year I'll have maintained my weight and be feeling even better. God bless you, Eli Lilly!

Choux · 06/03/2025 08:25

It's my MJ anniversary today too! Life changing - am so happy I took the plunge. I have been maintaining for about three months now so the next few months is about learning to do that on a lower Mounjaro dose.

@AgathaMystery I am going to get a new phone too so interesting to hear My Weight data will be lost. There do seem to be options to back it up to their server under advanced settings or has it already been deleted?

I have been using My Fitness pal free version for 14 years (see my weight progress below) and can add data for dates in the past so you could load it in there. Not as much fun to use as My Weight but there is a better graph in my opinion.

Morning All
First order with Oushk approved, they've already messaged my GP, very efficient. I told them I have 2 pens in hand due to advance ordering early last year (after having experienced supply issues with saxenda), they confirmed all they need is evidence of those prescriptions and then I can delay my next order until I'm a couple of weeks into my last pen. So that's the next 3 months supply sorted and I won't need to reorder until mid May.

Last night I tried the cottage cheese /protein powder ice cream suggestion- it actually works! Obvs not as yummy as Ben & Jerry's but definitely creamy, tasty and hits the sweet spot (and I don't normally like cottage cheese). As a former ice cream addict this will definitely be helpful to jabe in my arsenal for if/when I titrate off MJ (no issues resisting ice cream whilst I'm on the jabs).

KrankyKumquat · 06/03/2025 12:37

@Everdecreasingcircumferences
Glad the move to Oushk was smooth and nice to know you're all set up now.

Sorry, but that ice cream sounds really weird 😅. I'd definitely try a spoonful but don't think I'll be making any! I now, however, fancy a bowl of Ben and Jerry's...

CiderJabs · 06/03/2025 14:52

@Everdecreasingcircumferences do you have a recipe? I've given up sugar for lent and it's day 2 and I'm already struggling!!!

Wonkypictureframe · 06/03/2025 17:07

Hey, sorry, basic question like the old days. Seeing as the pens seem to be refusing that final forced twist, I'm going to give in and go for the insulin needle approach. Can anyone recommend the ones they use?

KrankyKumquat · 06/03/2025 17:18

@Wonkypictureframe
Was just searching for my link when @ThirdStorm put it up. I've always used these, never done a hard twist due to hand injury. They're v.good. Just insert at 45 degrees and don't go in all the way as the needles are longer than the wee ones we get.

Wonkypictureframe · 06/03/2025 17:22

Thank you. Silly question but are you using the same needle to draw the liquid as you are to inject? Do you sterilise between the two?

Wonkypictureframe · 06/03/2025 17:23

I never had any trouble forcing the twist until my last one, and I just binned it at that point for once as it was almost Christmas and I sort of fancied not taking that last shot anyway. I've since read that lots of people are having the same experience.

KrankyKumquat · 06/03/2025 17:31

Yes, same needle. Some say it blunts it but I've never found this.
