Anyone interested in a new thread for those of us taking the plunge this month?

My TDEE is 1326 so very low. Years of yoyo dieting and a disability that affects my mobility.

I have had a digestive biscuit just now 🤣

Hello 👋 thanks for setting up this thread and sharing your experiences. I just took jab no 1 today, painless which was a relief. Haven’t got a plan for eating yet really, probably will reduce carbs and do a bit of intermittent fasting if it feels right. My main worry is getting side effects that involve running to the loo all the time! Interested to see how this works out in general though.

I don't see how it can be 1326 unless you have no weight to lose or are 4 foot tall. For example a 5 foot and 8 stone person who is sedentary would be a similar TDEE to that. I'm imagining you are heavier than this if you are on MJ and probably taller as most people are so it would be a much larger TDEE than you think. I'm not trying to be a pain but I don't want you going hungry if you don't need to be.

Hi, well I took my first 2.5 on Monday, and at first didn’t feel I had a lot of suppression. I’ve felt hungry all week, but also felt like I can put up with it, if that makes sense? I’ve also felt I had more mental clarity around food. For example one afternoon I went to make myself a hot drink and went to grab a sweet snack at the same time, but stopped and realised I didn’t need it and it was just habitual. I’ve also just found it easier to eat healthier foods and make better choices. On Thursday I had a tricky day and felt down and stressed, I realised that normally I would be ordering a takeaway but I didn’t feel tempted, I realised that wouldn’t help my mood at all and actually I’d feel better eating something that fuelled me, instead of leaving me feeling bloated with disrupted digestion. I’ve not really had side effects except for an uncomfortable stomach at points, and some difference to my poo.
Today I could easily just start eating and not stop BUT weigh in on Monday and then dose 2, so feels easier to resist knowing that it in a couple of days I’ll have my first weeks results. I’ve been averaging 1,500 cals a day, aiming for 100g of protein and over 20g of fibre (less then the reccomended amount but I struggle with it). Next week I want to up my water intake and exercise!

BreezyPeer · 12/01/2025 00:01

I weighed this morning and 3lbs down, in 3 days! I don't intend to weigh again until Wednesday so I wonder if that will hold? Will be weight I know but just interesting to see it

MathsMagpie · 12/01/2025 00:03

Can I join, please?

Started 2.5 on Wednesday but came down with some sort of flu on Thursday so unsure what's symptoms and what's feeling like death from this cold/plague

Starting Weight 221lbs

Goal weight 168lbs (for now)

tinyemmy · 12/01/2025 10:27

I started on Wednesday too! I'm not clear on goal weight yet, my weight just kept going up and up. In 2020 I was less than 9 stone (wanting to get lighter) and then the last couple of years I have struggled to get lower than 10 st and more recently 11! (I'm short)
On Wednesday I was 11st 7lb BMI 30
9st 7lb will give me a BMI just below 25
8st 7lb will give me a BMI of 22.2
I think I would like to get to the lower weight but I'm not sure how I would maintain it without mj as I haven't been that weight since my 20s.
I spent my 30s below 9st 7 and it's only approaching mid 40s that it popped over and then just kept going up and up.
I think initially I stopped eating gluten due to coeliac and this meant I started absorbing more food and then I gave up drinking and ended up with more sweets treats and rather than drinking my sorrows I'd eat them instead which is way more calories. Hopefully mj will help my find new habits for my emotional (+ boredom + no reason needed) eating
Sorry it's become an essay, therapeutic though as I think I know what I want to achieve now 😂

Souredgrapes · 12/01/2025 18:40

@MathsMagpie . Hello . I too came down with Flu the same week I started MJ so like you difficult to separate the effects / side effects from either being unwell or the MJ . However , today is the first day of feeling human and the appetite suppression is genuine. I should have been really hungry today and I wasn’t .

Hi all!
So I have received my first delivery from MedExpress but there are no needles. Is this correct? Do I have to buy the needles separately?

@DesperatleySeekingWeightLoss I'm not a Jan starter but I hope you don't mind me answering your question.

Needles should be included. They are often supplied in a small box or bag and will be separate to the box with the actual pen in it. They are very small so it's possible to have missed them in the rest of the packaging. If they aren't there then contact MedExpress and ask for them to be delivered.

I only know of one pharmacy (The Family Chemist) that doesn't automatically supply needles and they make it very clear on the ordering page that you need to add them to your order.

DesperatleySeekingWeightLoss · 13/01/2025 15:30

Oh thank you @SilenceInside!
Yes, I did miss them in the packaging.
Yikes!

I'm scared.. it's real 🙄

MathsMagpie · 13/01/2025 19:58

@DesperatleySeekingWeightLoss when are you planning to inject? Good luck!

Tubbytiger · 14/01/2025 12:44

Took second dose last night and weighed in this morning with a 7lb loss. Last week I had decent suppression for the first 4 days then less so towards the end of the week. I ate more at the weekend but didn't go wild. Couldn't manage all of my steak on Saturday and was able to stop at one glass of wine on Sunday. Could be placebo but I am cautiously optimistic.

Zempy · 14/01/2025 18:05

Well done @Tubbytiger (great name)

Can I ask your starting weight? I think I have lost six pounds so far and inject for second time tomorrow night. I started at 13.7

Tubbytiger · 14/01/2025 18:30

Hi @Zempy My starting weight was 14stone1lb - I am 5ft 2in and hoping to be 9 stones. I haven't been that weight since I was in my teens, many decades ago.

MathsMagpie · 14/01/2025 18:39

It's injection day for me tomorrow and oh my goodness - I'm starving. I had really strong suppression every other day but today it's all I can think about Blush

I'm similar! I managed to skip breakfast today but I had lunch and then a pudding which I've not been having all week and I'm already planning my extra food for after dinner tonight.
I'm just hoping I don't get any new side effects tomorrow as I've had a really good run if it this week! I'd take a slightly slower loss for near zero side effects!

IdentityCrisis101 · 14/01/2025 20:17

It's jab day for me tomorrow too! I've definitely felt more hunger today, it's the first day in 2 weeks I've eaten breakfast, lunch and tea!

thinblurredblueline · 14/01/2025 20:19

Done my second injection yesterday, 0 weight loss so far. 🤣🫣

Zempy · 15/01/2025 07:31

So I have lost half a stone in my first week. Gone from 13:7 to 13:0.

Injecting again tonight. No bad side effects at all so far but I know they might come.

Really happy.

TheWickerWoman · 15/01/2025 14:58

hello everyone. This is so exciting.

Glad I found this post. Starting Mounjaro today (I think)well.., the delivery come today, so I am eager to get cracking.

so I’m BMI of 43.
on Metformin 500mg x 4 daily. (Diabetes stable) think my last hBA1c was 51.

I have purchased Mounjaro privately. Bought through Medexpress (where I declared all meds).

I am worried about the metformin further down the line. I know it’s safe to take together but surely there comes a point where my blood sugar will drop too low and cause issues? Do you just carry on as normal with metformin or give it a month and see? not sure what to do.
