Anyone interested in a new thread for those of us taking the plunge this month?

Has anybody injected in the thigh or arm and the next week injected into the stomach and found suppression is stronger?

Rumdiddly · 08/01/2025 21:25

Started yesterday. Starting weight 12.8. Goal weight somewhere under 10 stone. I have no side effects. Probably placebo effect however I don't feel hungry and the fridge isn't screaming me. Don't feel like a glass of wine either. Would love to join a WhatsApp group if possible please?

Gcsunnyside23 · 08/01/2025 22:41

I'd love to join the WhatsApp group too please if there is one on the go

Week 1 update: Took my second jab yesterday and weighed in, lost 3.4kg which I’m thrilled with but wouldn’t want to lose that much every week (suspect it’s mostly water weight).
No side effects at all aside from an appetite suppression. I’m injecting into my thigh and trying to consume 1200 cals which is a very big deficit but I struggle to get any more in, especially the first few days after I’ve jabbed. My biggest issue is my fear of needles. I feel very sick and shaken for the first hour or so after I’ve jabbed but hoping I’ll get over that soon.

BreezyPeer · 09/01/2025 08:25

I chickened out last night as I was late home from work and it all felt a bit much. But, I have done my first injection this morning. It was easy!
So,
starting weight 15st 12
First target 14 st 7
Final target 12 St
Thank you for the company!

2littleonesx · 09/01/2025 09:28

Did my first injection this morning, much easier than expected!

Zempy · 09/01/2025 12:47

No nausea or other nasties so far (first jab last night)

Definitely have the suppression. It took me ages to finish just one weetabix with blueberries. I felt peckish at 11:15 but half a digestive saw that off!!

I am going to boil a couple of eggs so I have protein snacks available. I couldn’t bear a protein shake, and the bars are hideously expensive.

So far, so good.

GlitchStitch · 09/01/2025 14:26

Mine has now arrived, was going to jab today but I've just had a thought that I'm at work tomorrow. I'm not sure if it's such a good idea if any side effects kick in when I'm at the office! I have 3 days off afterwards so think I'm going to wait until after work tomorrow now. I'm really eager to get started though.

Hi All . I’m not great at remembering names and replying individually but I am totally invested.

Day 5 for me and yes , the evening munchies are calling me which is disappointing. This is the first time I’ve felt hungry since Thursday . I guess it’s the lowest dose and I need more in my system . Saxander worked really well for me but not until I had titrated up a few times.

Whilst I'm sorry you feel the same as me, I'm glad I'm not alone! I'm a big old bird, so I'm thinking that a dose of 0.6 might not have the same effect on me as it would on someone of a more modest build!

I've just had my second dose this morning, so we'll see how that one goes.

To those of you suffering with the less pleasant side effects, I do hope they are settling a bit now?

Over the past 20 years, I have been prescribed just about every 'new' diabetic drug possible to try and control my type 3C diabetes, so I'm thinking that might be why I've not noticed any side effects. I take so many damned drugs that I think my body just shrugs with indifference when a new one joins the party.

Although I haven't had a noticeable appetite suppression during my first week, I have tried to eat less and have definitely eaten a lot healthier than during the run up to Christsmas, when I was shovelling all kinds of crap down me! I weighed exactly the same prior to my 2nd injection this morning as I did a week ago. I'm hoping that Christmas is still punishing me!

Happy to set up a WhatsApp group if nothing has come of the one mentioned previously. Feel free to PM your contact details and name you'd like to be known by and I'll create one.

Good luck to those about to embark!

Hi can I join in. I took my first injection last night, felt a bit jittery afterwards but I think that may have been the adrenaline / nerves.

Have felt nauseous this morning but not too bad this afternoon / cramps last night....however I'm due on my period which may be adding to this. I seem to have some suppression but managed to have a breakfast protein shake, chicken salad for lunch but no desire for crisps etc.

Hoping it continues in the evening as I do like wine / snacks and is my worse time of day and this is one of the main habits that I hope this cracks.

I weigh 245 lbs and need to lose 6 stone to get into a healthy BMI. I have never realistically thought this was possible but who knows and honestly
would be over the moon to lose 4 stone especially if this reduces blood pressure/ cholesterol.

Good luck to everyone and I'm crossing fingers that this also helps with the grumpiness that I normally get when dieting and my family don't have to put up with a mardy me 😉

Gcsunnyside23 · 09/01/2025 16:58

Day 1 and definitely noticed the quiet in my head, the food chatter just isn't there. Usually when I'm not hungry I can still snack but it's more like I just cant even make myself eat, barely could drink my coffee today. I will have to try to make sure I eat dinner at least. What is everyone eating for their meals?

Shasmac · 09/01/2025 17:20

Did my first jag on Monday. Took me some time, multiple false starts and some serious self talking before I could actually pluck up the courage to stab myself in the stomach😂Didn't feel a thing. Day 4 today and no side effects but good appetite suppression already. Also, strangely my Rheumatoid Arthritis feels much better than it has for years, checked on other chat pages and apparently this is a 'thing', if true it will be a very welcome side effect.

MJ helps with inflammation. I don't have RA but I do have some inflammation in joints. I move so much easier on MJ. I can practically spring down stairs in the morn. 😁

Hi, if you were injecting for the first time, on an evening, would you inject before or after something (light) to eat, thanks

Shasmac · 09/01/2025 19:55

I'm doing intermittent fasting so just lunch and dinner. Tracking on Myfitnesspal to make sure I get my calory deficit. Also protein goals as that has always been a problem for me.

Hi Abby,

I don't think it matters whether you inject before or after food per se, but I would be inclined to make sure you've had at least a snack or light meal beforehand, just in case you do have any side effects and don't feel like eating afterwards.

It seems a lot of us have a common theme with being night time nibblers. I have pretty good will power up until around 6pm....then all hell breaks loose! I love curling up with the fire on and trashy TV on these colder, dark nights - and the temptation to snack, snack, snack is a pain and hard to ignore.

I’m struggling after 7pm belly growling , been having a bath then going to bed 10pm so I don’t get tempted

day 3 of 1st dose 2.5ml , no real side effects apart from constipation 🙈 feeling really bunged up , water intake is between 2.5l and 3.5l gonna grab some flax seeds on my next food shop hopefully that will help

gone back to swimming done two sessions , hoping to do 3 a week

2.5 weeks in was calorie counting before starting mj and 8.4LB down , bmi down from 34 to 32 , average 900-1200 calories

Souredgrapes · 10/01/2025 11:02

First week done . Bit of a mixed week , a couple of days of around 2000 cals for various reasons but the other 5/6 have been a decent enough deficit. I had been getting the evening munchies urges around day 5 but then I’ve been hit with Flu big time and that’s a bigger appetite suppressant than MJ so although I’ve lost 6 pounds in 8 days I don’t think it’s all MJ . I delayed my next injection until this morning ( a day late ) as I was a bit concerned I would make myself feel worse . Flu is easing up but I’m still pretty rough . See what this week brings.
wishing everyone all the best . X

Pasttheline · 10/01/2025 11:28

@Cazs818 I was really worried about constipation so I take Payllium Husk daily and eating a pear everyday and that seems to have done the trick, have had no problems

Cazs818 · 10/01/2025 14:18

Thanks @Pasttheline will give that a try

Zempy · 10/01/2025 18:00

Day 2 here. Still have appetite suppression, but I did get a rumble tum late last night. If that happens tonight I’ll have to watch Traitors on catch up tomorrow and go to bed early. Today I have eaten one weetabix with milk and blueberries. A small bowl of homemade vegetable soup, and am just settling down to a boiled egg sandwich.

I am going shopping at the weekend to stock up on salmon and chicken so I can increase my protein.

Kibble29 · 10/01/2025 18:27

I’m day 3 after the first 2.5 jag. I had a sneaky look on the scales and I’m down 7lbs. 😯 Will update when my week is over!

You're allowed more food than that - it's no wonder you're hungry. That's only about 600-700 calories at a guess. Have a look at your TDEE and then aim for around 500 calories less than that. For example my TDEE is just over 2000 calories (I'm very short so yours may be higher) and I aim for anything from 1000-1500 each day and I lose well on that).
