Anyone interested in a new thread for those of us taking the plunge this month?

Welcome @TheWickerWoman! I think with regard to the blood sugar issues it's probably best to get a proper answer from the doctors to be on the safe side, it's not worth risking your health!

I also order through MedExpress but am now worried about the £ side of it all. I got a good deal on my first order with blue light discount. Would anyone be interested in swapping referral codes to help each other out? Blush

PetLamb4 · 15/01/2025 16:46

Hi everyone.

Ordered from MedExpress last Thursday, delivered yesterday and (nervously) took my first dose this afternoon.

Will be great to hear how everyone else is getting on. We can do this xxx

There's a whole thread for referral codes, but I think most of them are only for new customers, not for repeat customers.

hello everyone. This is so exciting.

Glad I found this post. Starting Mounjaro today (I think)well.., the delivery come today, so I am eager to get cracking.

so I’m BMI of 43.
on Metformin 500mg x 4 daily. (Diabetes stable) think my last hBA1c was 51.

I have purchased Mounjaro privately. Bought through Medexpress (where I declared all meds).

I am worried about the metformin further down the line. I know it’s safe to take together but surely there comes a point where my blood sugar will drop too low and cause issues? Do you just carry on as normal with metformin or give it a month and see? not sure what to do.

Do you regularly check your blood sugars? If yout GP has a diabetes nurse I would make an appointment with them.

TheWickerWoman · 15/01/2025 17:01

@Injectionstoslim

I have never kept a track of blood sugar. Just my annual HbA1c blood test. Always been pretty stable.

I’ve been having a read and they are safe together but it could cause low blood sugar on higher doses so that gives me time to see GP or Diabetic Nurse.

I’ve just remembered - The online form said it’ll be copying in my GP so they may pick up on this anyway.

Some great losses here! Very encouraging! Had my second jab on Monday evening and was looking forward to increased suppression but to my dismay I was ravenous all day. Today however I am supremely unbothered even by the biscuit jar. So I guess it can take 24 hours for effectiveness to kick in even with second injection.

sofabear · 15/01/2025 18:51

Great to hear how everyone is doing. This is day 6 for me and like others appetite suppression is wearing off a bit. I was fine for most of the day and have been good so far this week, but gave in to the chocolate urge after a very, very stressful day on the way home. Luckily I made it home before I had to run to the loo with the runs! Hope this is a cautionary tale for everyone else 😅(and sorry about tmi!)

HomeTutor · 15/01/2025 19:29

I'm on day 12, 4 days post second jab.

For the last 2 days I've been horrifically dizzy and light headed, like I'm walking around in space. I've had to try and stop myself passing out a few times, lying down and legs raised. Really awful and panicky.

I also started a new job on the 6th which has caused my anxiety to spike. I'm currently unsure whether it's this, or the injection.

Any ideas? I so hope it's not the injection as I've lost 7lb since 4th Jan and I want to carry on 😭

Mittens67 · 15/01/2025 20:49

I had my fourth dose of 2.5mg monday. Still feel absolutely normal, no difference at all.
This is to be expected though as the starting doses are only titration not therapeutic.
I hope others who like me have no change to their appetite don’t get disheartened reading about early results from some people. I am pleased for those who do feel the benefit at a low dose but it must be remembered this is not the case for the majority.

Purpletoslim · 17/01/2025 02:18

Hi Everyone, great to hear how you are all getting on.

I need some advice please, I have been wanting o get on monjaro for ages as I need to loose a lot of weight. Last time I weighed myself a few months ago I was 120kgs and I have since piled on more.

Anyway, I finally ordered on Oushk on Tuesday and got it today. Bit scared to take it (in the past I have struggled with having to inject myself with blood thinner after giving birth, but I don't want anyone to know about it).

However, I am now confused at the does to take. I read that to start off with that you only take 0.5mg a week, but now I'm seeing in some places that you are meant o take 2.5mg a week. Does anyone know the right dosage.

Thanks in advance

Pasttheline · 17/01/2025 06:19

@Purpletoslim you should have been prescribed 2.5mg as it’s your first pen. You prescriber shouldn’t have given any higher without asking for proof that you had already had the lower dose. If you definitely have a 5mg pen then I’d recommend speaking to Oushk before taking it.

Zempy · 17/01/2025 06:31

I lost 7lbs in my first week and took second jab on Weds.

Strong appetite suppression, but haven’t lost any weight since!! 😱☹️🙏

Am hoping to get a significant drop in next couple of days, at least a pound.

Souredgrapes · 17/01/2025 07:32

@Purpletoslim . There is no 0.5 dose with Mounjaro, starting dose is 2.5mg . Your first pen should have this dose on the box and you should inject a full dose ( dial twisted back to 1 ).

Its daunting but honestly , you won’t feel the injection going in. Good luck .

Souredgrapes · 17/01/2025 07:36

Morning @Zempy . That’s a great start . Like you I haven’t lost anything for 3 days which feels annoying as I’m sticking a very low cal regime. Just how it goes I suppose , weight loss isn’t linear blah blah blah . Overall loss is 9lbs in 14 days so it was bound to slow down at some point. Good luck !

No, i got a 2.5mg dose, but i have seen forums where people say to split the does into 0.5mg a week.

Pasttheline · 17/01/2025 09:06

@Purpletoslim oh I see. Ignore the forums and follow the dispensing advice. This is medicine, please don’t take the advice of unqualified strangers.

I guess I need 4 pens a month then....not sure I can afford that 😭

Been referred to a weight loss clinic, but it's been over 3 months and i need to take control of my weight now.

Does anyone know if I would still be allowed the injections on NHS even though I have started buying them myself? Really can't afford this long term.

Zempy · 17/01/2025 09:18

No, there’s four doses in one pen. You inject once a week so a pen covers four weeks.

Can you upload a photo of your pen?

Pasttheline · 17/01/2025 09:34

@Purpletoslim your pen shouldn’t be single dose. It will last you 4 weeks 😀

Oh great!!! Thanks

Is there instructions in the box or came with? On mine you click around until it shows the dose in a little window and then inject that and there is 4 weeks worth

Great start, I took my second on wed too and down 6.5 first week. My weight slowed around Tues and then today I'm down another 2. I actually forgot to eat yesterday (been crazy with work) and had to make myself eat late last night. Im shocked how strong the suppression is but more the food noise and ability to not bypass myself and eat. I've never had this, I'm such a compulsive eater usually.

DesperatleySeekingWeightLoss · 17/01/2025 12:14

Injected my first dose just now.
I couldn't work out how to do
It as in my haste to get rid of any offending packaging I chucked out the instructions.

Someone upthread said there's no low dose with Mounjaro, but my pen says 0.6ml. (I'm guessing it's 0.5 but they add the 1ml for prep).

I bought this through MedExpress. What happens after? I would like to shop around.

Current weight: 89 kilos
Target weight: 60 kilos
(Height is 5 ft 3).

I hope you are all doing ok.
I also found this YouTube for some clear instructions on how to use the pen:

SilenceInside · 17/01/2025 12:21

@DesperatleySeekingWeightLoss 0.6ml is the volume of liquid per dose, it's the same for whatever dosage of pen you get. The concentration of medication is measured in mg, and your pen will have said 2.5mg on it. That means that in a 2.5mg pen, there is 2.5mg of active medication in each 0.6ml dose.
