Thought I'd check in quickly.

I am back down to 10st 13lbs. Back to feeling suppression. So looks like I needed two weeks of 12.5 to feel it working again. Oddly I was maintaining at 11st 2lbs after Xmas and then overnight I was back to 10.13!

Will see how it goes but will try and aim for 10st 7lbs now to give me a buffer on maintenance. I will have to start 10mg pen for my next pen and will just take 12.5mg from it. Need to use my 2 x 10mg and 7.5mg before they expire.

Hope everyone is getting on ok

Hi@ObsidianTree and glad to hear you've found your groove again. I think we could all have done without Christmas in terms of weight loss but at least we're managing to get back in the saddle a bit quicker than before - it'd have taken me a good few months to get my head around returning to a diet after a Christmas blow-out previously.

I have a quick look on the newbies threads a bit when I'm bored and they're having all the same panics and problems we had - sooo glad not to be just starting out now, I'd probably have been another stone heavier.

In terms of my progress, I'm at 10st4lb now so weight still creeping down a little but much more slowly. Still titrating down from 10mg each week, now at 5mg, and this feels about right in terms of level of suppression so gonna use 7.5 pen to say here for a month or two I think. Just hoping I don't come to regret going so far beyond 30 days but comfort myself by thinking I've never seen anyone report an infection on here, Reddit or FB so 🤞

NextPrimeMinister · 11/01/2025 13:29

I've lost my 3lb Xmas gain, so now bang on goal.

I loved 12.5, found it a great little booster that got rid of my last 7lbs.

I now drop to 10 tomorrow, as I start the great maintain.

Fingers crossed 🤞

Flapearedknave · 11/01/2025 13:29

My 15mg is back to fully working!

Losing well again, 5lb this week but some of that will be water/salt/Christmas weight!

Hoping to be at the weight I was before my scales recalibrated by end of Feb!

Choux · 11/01/2025 14:05

I can't work out if this is an actual news story or sales hype and advertising by Simple pharmacy who reach a wide audience of would be customers who might be nervous about buying medication online but amazing of the obesity rate will actually fall.

news.sky.com/story/obesity-rates-may-start-falling-this-year-due-to-weight-loss-jabs-seller-says-13285462

KrankyKumquat · 11/01/2025 14:30

@Choux
It certainly won't hurt their business will it? The numbers are quite staggering for what I'd think of as a pretty mid-size, at most, supplier. A lot of money being made for sure.

Obesity rates in the US fell by 2% 22/23. 2024 figures on track to be even higher so reductions this first year in the UK is pretty much baked in l'd have thought, although may be that so many Americans being supplied through insurance ups their figures quite a bit too. Our figures would be through the roof if we could access it through the NHS in the same numbers I'm sure.

Choux · 11/01/2025 15:20

My brother is in the US and has been taking it for 15 months. Mostly he has been self funding at a ridiculous amount like $500 a month. I think insurance companies started to cover it then realised how much it would cost and backtracked and put in a lot of restrictions. My brother had some kind of voucher from Eli Lilly which ran out after 12 months so then he would have to either stop, pay $1k a month, try to get another voucher or switch to Wegovy.

I was there last Nov and remember seeing news story on tv about a woman who was no longer able to afford it now her insurance company (or maybe it was her employer's medical coverage as she worked for the state gov) would no longer pay. She had lost about 70lbs and was very worried about putting it back on but couldn't afford to buy it privately.

Some of these details are vague and possibly incorrect but we are darn lucky to get 5 dose pens for about £150.

Flapearedknave · 11/01/2025 15:37

My sister is doing the shemed trail. She got her mj this morning.
They have also sent her meds for side effects, gaviscone, loperamide, windeze, Cenlax.

Sounds like it's going to be good for her, the weekly phone calls etc.

ObsidianTree · 11/01/2025 16:44

Thanks @KrankyKumquat. I had a feeling it was the lower dose over Xmas that didn't help. Now thinking I might not be able to titrate down below 12.5. suppose if I start having your problem where I keep losing then I can try going down to 10mg again!

OP posts:
ObsidianTree · 11/01/2025 16:46

@Choux I hope the US sort itself out and start giving it's people similar prices to us. Im sure most Americans would be happy to pay for it privately if it cost the same as ours. Real madness.

Good grief, that Nadine Dorries article is going to be fuel for all the naysayers who assume we all sit on our arses and eat biscuits expecting the drug to do the heavy lifting. Thanks Nadine!

I'm surprised by her experience really, as the drug actually made me want to eat more healthily, not exist on chocolate digestives and bread and butter

Just catching up on all the posts but got to comment on this one....

This bugs me. She isn't that big in the before photo, more of an unflattering angle really, in fact I found this one on her insta wearing the same bloody dress before and after! So I've googled and Nadine is apparently 1.65m tall.

At 8st 12 her bmi is now 20.2

At start weight of 10st 10 her bmi was....24.4 aka in a healthy range, surely even with the pre diabetes/fatty liver/cholesterol she shouldn't have been prescribed it, a clean up of her diet would have been probably more than sufficient, and sounds like it was clearly needed. There's always one.

Dorries will say anything for publicity and money. According to this article where she says she is 5ft 3 she went on I'm a Celeb over a decade ago to lose weight.

www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/im-a-celebrity-nadine-dorries-admits-1443366

Here's a pic of her in March 22. She looks like her BMI could be 30+ but she could well have lost some weight before starting the Injections. Plenty of people her age have high cholesterol so can get it with a BMI of 27.

Ah Choux, yes two inches does make a fair difference!

Scalessayeek · 12/01/2025 07:26

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been on for a while- need to try and read through everything but I've read little bits here and there.
Thought I would update my Christmas- somehow managed to put on five pounds. Wasn't eating lots but had indulgent food. Lost it pretty quickly though so assume it was extra water, glycogen etc.

Went up to 12.5mg at the end of December and on the final stretch with less than a stone until goal now. Have booked in with Hira at the end of Feb and hoping to do a year of 5mg one on one off. Will see how I go from there!

Lovely to see all your updates

Mortigua · 12/01/2025 09:22

Checking in as I know I’ve been so in and out on this thread ! I do read though and it’s encouraging how well everyone is doing. I’ve re gained a bit after Xmas but I did have a few days break (didn’t miss a week but waited later for it ) I actually thought I might have pancreas issues as I had the most dreadful pain on Christmas Day but may have been just not being used to the food . It started on the 23rd after eating too much cheese plus wine etc and some sweet stuff but took days to go away and scared me .
im back on but didn’t take a full dose last week just being cautious as I was scared it would happen again .
unsurprisingly, I’ve gained some weight but it’s about 4 pounds which I think will come off just eating normally .

I do still have a way to go though . I have an issue with feeling off about some foods while on it which makes me only feel able to eat snack stuff . But I’m armed with protein shakes and will have a concerted effort now , cutting alcohol back and I need to try and exercise more.

NextPrimeMinister · 12/01/2025 10:34

I've come here as no one IRL will care, but stepped on the scales today and have lot 1lb.

So I have now lost exactly 5 stone! I am delighted to have hit this round number officially on the day I move to a lower maintenance dose.

Never did I think this would be so successful when I started back in Feb.

MJ is a game changer.

Wonkypictureframe · 12/01/2025 10:45

Yay! That’s brilliant.

I’m having the reverse today. 😆 Daily weighing is a must for me but it does show every pound in the wrong direction. It’s a day of drinking lots of water for me.

Wonderful news! Well done 😁😁😁

Meanwhile, I am struggling a bit. I restarted on 2.5mg last Sunday and had suppression for about three days. Just took my second dose, so hopefully it will last a little longer this week 😬

I feel really wobbly, which is mad as I am so much slimmer than the same time last year! I haven't reached goal yet, but I realised before Christmas that 10 st 7 is the spot for me where my face starts to look its best and I lose my apple shape. Anyway, onwards and upwards!

Mortigua · 12/01/2025 11:32

Well done ! 5!!! Wow !

I just tried to sign up to she med but it says my bmi doesn’t qualify now ! Sort of good - I can switch provider if I’ve been off it 28 days … tempting but I’d have to re gain weight so no !

I had similar when I re started at lower dose . Partly I think because of how long term it seems and I don’t tell anyone so feel guilty . On and up though is the way !

Choux · 12/01/2025 13:39

Well done @NextPrimeMinister! 5st is an incredible achievement.

And well done to everyone putting Christmas behind them and getting back on it. For every goal we achieve there will be another one to start working on even if the goal is simply 'maintain'.

I have actually managed to hit two goals this weekend. Yesterday my metabolic age dropped by another year and now matches my real age. It used to be 8 years higher on my old scales although they may not be the same calc method as my new scales.

And today I hit a 50lb weight loss. I am not aiming to go any lower - BMI is now 23.0 - but still need to:

Lose 1% body fat
Lose 3.5% subcutaneous fat and
Gain 0.8% muscle

Am hoping the extra muscle will get my BMR up to over 1,300 from 1,270 as that will make maintenance a tiny bit easier. Will be sticking to 10mg while I work on the above.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 12/01/2025 19:21

@NextPrimeMinister congrats, well done 🎉

I'm struggling a bit over the last few days. Could be the lower dose but I think it's more likely that it's due to my TOTM being due this week (the day I have a job interview 😑) and I'm definitely coming down with something. My 2yr old seems to be unable to sneeze anywhere except my face so I've no escape from his germs. I always eat tons when I'm ill.

KeepingUndercover · 13/01/2025 07:53

I'm back to losing, Christmas gain has gone without too much effort. I've now lost 45kg in total, which is 7 stone. That's a small person! I remain very worried that my skin is not keeping up with the loss and I'm going to have terrible excess skin. Has anyone found they just look very lumpy on their fatty bits now? I feel like I've got lumps of fat in places now rather than a smooth covering. Cellulite on steroids.

I've upped my exercise now so I'm doing more strength classes. Need to up my cardio do. And I'm planning to do some daily weights at home too. Hoping that will help the toning.

Wonkypictureframe · 13/01/2025 08:15

7 stone is incredible. You superstar!

guestusername · 13/01/2025 11:28

What is everyone doing about the loose skin under their butt cheeks? I had a good look in the mirror last night, which tbh is something that I very rarely do, and my butt looks like the skin has just dropped down, kinda like a skin version of a landslide. My butt now has absolutely no shape whatsoever so really need to start targeting it exercise wise but does anyone have any good tips for this please?
