@MrsNessaSmithy @ObsidianTree
thank you and yes, it’s very odd!

I feel perfectly fine within myself - usually tired but I’ve been putting that down to a combination of having hypothyroidism AND taking MJ.

No other typical thyroid symptoms and especially no throat swelling, hoarseness of voice or anything.

I’ll stay on the 175mcg daily and then see what the results show on my next retest at the end of January and look into private testing.

Thank you 😊

New prices for maintenance with Oushk (plus free postage), particularly good for higher doses. Price for Flexi plan also dropped by £5.
Other aspects of maintenance plans are apparently under review so more changes due re arrangements, consults, etc.

Still no reply from them to my messages though. Not hugely impressed at this point!

This looks good. The higher doses were very expensive so this makes Oushk more affordable for sure.

Also, Zava now offer for maintenance and have changed their referral codes to give you 20% off up to £40. For 15mg it works out £152.99. I haven't officially moved to Oushk so might stay with zava if I can push my orders to every 2 months. While I still have codes left that is.

@ObsidianTree
That's good news too. Hopefully this is the beginning of some real market competition for maintenance.

Hira asked for suggestions for improvement to the plans on the FB maintenance group last night and someone raised the issues with Flexi plan including the payment set up so hopefully it's something she'll be looking at this week. If I was you, I wouldn't be rushing to pay this month, just in case...

ObsidianTree · 06/01/2025 13:07

@KrankyKumquat yes was thinking the tide may be turning and better prices might happen. Surprising tho as I assume the number of people on mj must be going up and up.

Oops just realised I priced this up wrong. I was doing a price comparison for 10mg which worked out £152.99. The 15mg works out as £167.99, so Oushk is cheaper for higher dose pens

Hi ladies need your advice again.

Those of you who moved over to oushk and had a stockpile, what did you say to her and what happens while you are using your stock?
I currently have 5 pens which will last me 25-30 weeks depending on what dose I take. I got two pens in a bundle before Xmas but am trying to avoid buying more because of expiry dates.
I'm not sure what is best. I really don't feel confident stopping (especially in the middle of the summer holidays and close to my wedding)!
My options are:

  • suck it up and stop when I run out
  • order one more pen from my supplier when they contact me again, and increase my stockpile again
  • move over to Hira - and in this case what do I tell her ?
AgathaMystery · 07/01/2025 13:42

Well that’s a hefty stockpile. I think Hira is a realistic prescriber who would probably support you.

Wonkypictureframe · 07/01/2025 13:43

I just said I had some pens still to use up, which she seemed to find perfectly OK. We agreed I'd start on the Flex then and there so my prescribing history was recent, but that I wouldn't be charged until my stock had run out, although in my case I only had two months to go. Presumably she would be as flexible over the other types of maintenance plan?

YouAreEffluentKim · 07/01/2025 13:54

Hi all, checking in for a post Christmas update. I was away for two nights with family, and inexplicably came back after Christmas with a one pound loss! I say 'inexplicably' but I kept up my jab as usual that week (10mg) and got my period on Christmas Day (thanks Santa!) which usually results in a scale loss for me. So probably not unexpected really.

I'm now 1.5kg or so away from target, about 3lb but don't really care about actually hitting that weight (53kg) on the nose and would be content to see 53 point anything on the scale to be honest. Realistically I'm at target now in terms of body size so hitting 53 won't really do anything other than be terribly satisfying!

I have a maintenance consult booked with Oushk on 29 Jan (this was the first available date when I booked yesterday). I jabbed yesterday and have my bonus dose next week which will be probably about 11.5mg or so. Then I'll be starting on my 7.5mg pen which has been in my fridge since May before maintenance became 'a thing'. I just anticipated back then that I'd need to come back to 7.5 at some point so stockpiled a bit.

My aim then is to see how this 7.5 goes over 5 weeks as the level of med slowly reduces in my body, and make a call as to whether to go for 7.5 again or up/down. I fully expect to have different doses from time to time during maintenance as I think sometimes my body just needs more or less assistance depending on whatever is going on. The healthy thing to do of course is to control my weight from here on out with food intake rather than medication intake, but I need to be realistic too. I'll be on this medication for life I hope, as after 40 odd years of battling my weight (since I was 8/9 and became conscious of my body) this is the only thing that has helped me control my weight without enormous and unsustainable diet restriction.

I'm another one that has been investigating levis! 501s were so popular in my teens but I could never fit them and I was so jealous of all the other girls around me who wore them so well. I've bought and sold on 2 pairs so far as I'm trying to find the perfect fit for me. I'll be collecting what I hope will be The Pair tonight from the courier locker - 26W 29L (I'm a short arse!). Can't wait!

CiderJabs · 07/01/2025 13:55

Thank you both.
@Wonkypictureframe is the flex the one where you choose a dose? So I'm on 7.5 and would be able to continue?

YouAreEffluentKim · 07/01/2025 14:02

@CiderJabs I came totally clean with Hira when I first spoke with her in October. At that point I'd already ordered twice from her but had a stockpile of 4 pens in my fridge! I fessed up to stockpiling because the guidance had been 2 years and that was it until it changed in September, and she just laughed.

I said at that point that I'd like to go on the flexi plan while I use up my stash and then look to move to one of the other plans. She said not to bother with flexi, she wouldn't charge me while I use up my pens and just to get in touch for a chat when I needed to think about reordering. So I'm seeing her at the end of the month and we'll go from there.

I was pretty impressed really that she wouldn't charge me but would continue to prescribe after not ordering for about 4 months so I'd say she's very open to patient-led care - which really they all should be.

I know their popularity has really soared recently and her customer care is very good so I can see why. I just hope the rapid expansion of her business doesn't create problems (the website is already creaking at the seams and very buggy) so I might try and always have 1 pen in reserve in case there are supply or delivery problems

Wonkypictureframe · 07/01/2025 15:15

Flex is the one where you're not on medication but can go back on at any time. It's £15 a month with the 15% off the meds and free postage.

I think their ambition to offer such intensive patient support is putting them under quite a lot of strain. But I did manage to speak to someone today who is organising my billing for the last two months, apologised for the lack of automatic invoicing so far, and confirmed that I can book a consultation with Hira or their other pharmacist (first I'd heard of him) any time I want to go back on 2.5mg and my BMI and medication gap won't be an issue.

YouAreEffluentKim · 07/01/2025 15:27

@Wonkypictureframe I agree, I think her commitment to her patients is laudable but she's created a bit of a rod for her own back. You can see from the Facebook group how ridiculous some oushk customers are in terms of requiring immediate responses to their queries ("I accidentally ordered the wrong dose and sent an email 20 minutes ago but no one has responded, what is the WhatsApp number I can call????") and while to her credit she tries to respond quickly, she's created an unrealistic and unsustainable level of expectation amongst customers.

I hope she can keep up with orders, including the inevitable influx of January starters

CiderJabs · 07/01/2025 15:37

Thanks again both. Is this the right fb group?

@CiderJabs
Yes that's it. There's also an Oushk Maintenance group, much smaller and quieter:

ThirdStorm · 07/01/2025 15:55

I think MedExpress are going to decline my price match request....because I keep missing it up! ha! I emailed them forgetting to attach a screenshot for proof, they asked me for it so I sent it, then they came back and asked me to confirm what strength I was matching against as I'd originally said but not in the follow up email! Its worth £25 so I'll persist!

CiderJabs · 07/01/2025 16:01

Booked a consultation for the 5/2. Shame it's a month away but it does mean I'll have one less pen 🤣

imnottoofussed · 07/01/2025 17:26

I also have a small stockpile as I had visions of being at goal and titrating down. So I have a 5, 7.5, 10 and 12.5 spare.

I still have a stone to go however and my 5mg pen expires in Feb or something like that. I'm currently on 12.5. So I'm going to have to decide what to do with that 5mg pen. Maybe get two doses of 12.5 out of it better than it going to waste.

I had a consult with Hira and she was happy for me to go onto the flex plan after a month or two. I decided to just use my stockpile first then call up and move over to their maintenance plan once I have finished. I guess when I get down to 2 pens I'll move over. I feel like they would probably take anyone really. If I call up and explain I had pens to use up but am now ready, I'm sure it will be fine. So not too worried about not paying the £20 plan. Also, I see a lot of people on the Oushk stocking up when offers are on. So they obviously aware people do that.

I have about 4 pens left. Will use them first then sign up to Oushk probably.

She said something similar to me. Use up pens then call them end of Nov up to set up maintenance. I thought she would let me move over when I have run out of pens so will call when that time comes.

I also did that and have 2 x 10mg and 1 x 7.5mg pens. I tried titrating down to 10mg but might as well have injected water! I will probably end up using the 10mg to get 12.5mg and possibly same for 7.5mg. Then run out end of April so need to use them.
