Yes it's a bit of a balancing act isn't it? I keep in the fridge, wash hands and use wipes before and after but who knows? Never seen anyone report an issue though. I didn't have a stash so I've got a little more leeway.

I've now ordered a 7.5mg pen to use to drop from 5/6mg to 2.5 gradually, then I'll get a 5mg pen. I plan to keep doing this for the foreseeable as got to find a way to reduce the costs, so will be telling my prescriber I'm on a higher dose than I actually am and having occasional weeks off to explain the time between orders. When I'm down to a 2.5mg dose, I'm hoping a sub-dose might still work but will have to see.

I used to dream of wearing Levi jeans. There is not a shop near me to try them on, so I’m a bit befuddled by their sizing. Might have to order a couple of pairs from Next . I’m a 10 in M and S and Next jeans. Anyone any idea of the Levi sizing or best type of Jean to go for. I’m thinking of a slim fit leg

KrankyKumquat · 03/01/2025 16:51

@chrispenrallt1
I bought my first every pair of Levi 501s earlier this month - it was a wonderful experience. The staff in the shop were lovely when they heard my story, just kept bringing one pair in after another until we decided on 28waist, 32 length (I think that's about a 10) - they really knew what they were doing (said they'd stretch about an inch which was spot on) so I'd recommend going to an outlet store and let them do the sizing for you if you possibly can - we drove about 40mins, well worth it.

Flapearedknave · 03/01/2025 17:44

I was naughty over Christmas and didn't take a size until yesterday.

JESUS THE EXHAUSTION! I feel like I haven't slept in weeks!

Finally got my neurology appointment through for potential MS diagnosis/assessment/testing. Wish me luck, terrified that I have it tbh. But at least I am now not obese so they won't blame my symptoms on that!

@Flapearedknave
It was! The best shopping experience ever. Me and the lovely young girls were nearly in tears. They were so excited for me.

God I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that, got everything crossed for you.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 03/01/2025 20:34

@KrankyKumquat I'm trying not to buy more as I don't want to risk not using them. Not sure I could even get prescribed now as it's been a few months since I ordered anything.

I think I might actually drop to 6 or 6.5mg for my next dose as I've been on 7.5mg for a few weeks now.

pinktransit · 03/01/2025 21:24

Happy New Year all!

I have stayed the same weight over Christmas and New Year, weighed in this morning at 8.7.4.
I really want to lose that bloody 4 ounces - it's been hanging around since before Christmas, so next week I'm back on track with no cheese, bread or snacks.
I was on 7.5mg, but due to travelling down to Mums for Christmas and then up to the Lakes for New Year, I did 5mg with a 5 day break rather than 7.5 with 7 days. Couldn't be bothered to take the pen with me all over the country, and it seems to have worked well.
I saw a lady wearing some gorgeous Levi's over NY - asked about the style, it was either a 720 or a 721. I have a pair of 511s size 10 that are tight around the hips, but they sit on the hips rather than the waist. The 721 is a high waist, which I prefer, so will have a look on Vinted. Might have to look at an outlet store if I can't find what I'm after.
Well done to everybody on small gains/maintains/losses over the festive period, here's to 2025 maintaining and learning the best way of doing that. xx

Femeia · 03/01/2025 23:14

Happy New Year!

As I jab on a Saturday I've been quite bad the last couple of days - like others if there is crap in the house I'll eat it. I think the difference is that I recognise this and am refusing to spiral into it becoming an every day habit.

We had friends over on NYE and quite a few people were going into the fridge. I can't say for certain but I think my bag with pens was disturbed and it looked like a pen/box had been looked at. Hmmm. I hadn't told anyone I was on MJ so potentially someone out there thinks I'm a liar (because I've told a white lie about my new eating habits etc) Ah well.

ThirdStorm · 04/01/2025 07:48

@Femeia thats always my worry when I have guests! Especially the ones that will help me cook etc. I’ve taken wrapping my pen in foil and sealing it in another bag. Unlikely to be disturbed then. Oh gosh I feel dishonest!🤣

FlappyFish · 04/01/2025 09:14

Hi all. I’m just checking in. Weight went up as normal over period and back to 9.7 again now.

Maintenance wise - I am on 5mg now. It is a really hard balancing act. I fully accept I do need it, but hoping I don’t need to go up.

I’ve started weights at the gym now and also did 15 mins on the cross trainer. Even with doing Pilates and swimming it did make me realise how unfit I really am. All a work in progress. The chap who did my weights induction was great as I said I basically want to tone and build muscle.

Cracks me up. Would never have wanted to go to the gym with the aim of a gain in something.

Snow due today.

I still love reading everyone’s updates and I’m glad we are all still posting.

My spare pens are out of the boxes and wrapped in foil in a Tupperware so look like leftovers. No guests will look at them!

Choux · 04/01/2025 10:28

Just done my jab. Is everyone at or close to maintenance still injecting in their thigh? I am but my legs as getting quite slim and have a bit of muscle definition now so not much fat there. I felt it pierce the skin which in the beginning I barely felt at all but have started to feel it more often as I have lost weight.

Next week is my bonus dose so insulin needle which has always been a bit more painful (for a split second) than pen needles so am wondering if I should switch to my stomach where there is more flab. I did my first few injections in my stomach but then switched to my thigh from the second pen onwards as though it was slower release from there.

Where do you inject at the moment?

KrankyKumquat · 04/01/2025 10:38

Back to 10st 5.2lbs today so exactly the same as my lowest weight yet, from a couple of days before the Christmas mayhem started. Realised this morning that I actually feel very well - although I never suffered from what I'd consider to be bad SEs, the higher doses made me feel decidedly meh, and now I'm reducing gradually, (dropping to 5mg from 6mg today), my mood and energy levels are definitely improving. Maybe from eating a little more but also think I didn't need to go so high perhaps.

It's a shame the weather is so shite as I really should be getting to grips with an exercise regime but, frankly, can't be arsed 😅.

@Choux I've always been a stomach injector and intend to stay there. Had the tiniest bruise a couple of times, but otherwise it's always been easy there.

ThirdStorm · 04/01/2025 11:05

@Choux im still injecting in stomach, always have. But MedExpress have changed the needles they supply, longer I think and definitely more painful.

@KrankyKumquat exercise still alludes me. I won’t use weather as an excuse as I was never going to do anything this week!

izzy2076 · 04/01/2025 12:24

Hi all. I'm still exactly where I was last time I updated. BMI 22 and 7.5 mg weekly. I don't know whether I should titrate down or whether there's any point. I'm not losing and I feel good. Appetite is good rather than suppressed but v little food noise. I had a small fry up for breakfast this morning with no physical or psychological consequences (the guilt around eating 'bad' food has gone: I just eat much less of it.) I've been feeling great since maintenance: loads more energy, the anhedonia has gone and so has the hair loss. I really think things settle side effects wise once you've done a big old stint on it.

I also told my husband for the first time I'm on MJ. He said he'd thought I'd been on slimming pills. He'd never heard of MJ and was shocked that I inject myself weekly but pretty nonplussed about it really. A bit of an anti climax as I staged a big 'coming out' armed with research and arguments....

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 04/01/2025 12:24

I'm at my lowest weight today, 9st 12lb which just seems ridiculous given the amounts I'm eating. Shows that sitting at my desk all day everyday is a big contributor to me not continuing to lose weight. I've been off work 2wks and haven't even exercised but just general movement and running round after the kids is working well.

CiderJabs · 04/01/2025 12:28

@Choux im also injecting on my stomach. I've had a brief period on the thigh but it hurt more and I felt no difference.
I've been away for a week so I took 5 before I came (was on 3.75) and have felt very cold the whole time despite being in a warm place. Not checked my weight since before Xmas. I expect to have put on but no idea how much. Home tomorrow so think I'll take 5 again and assess the damage, and then decide on what to take the week after.
I'm finding maintenance sort of ok but I can clearly see how it would go wrong without medication. I've been out and only ate half a pizza or not finished dinner but have had sweets / ice cream every day. It's worrying really.

Moanranger · 04/01/2025 15:37

A couple of NSVs since I reached goal:
Activity levels. I am definitely more active & am comfortable with it. I don’t have to force myself. I think pre 43lb WL, I was somewhat lazy, finding, for example, shopping in town really tiring. That’s no longer the case. I think I have moved up an activity level, and this helps offset calorie intake.
Cost of MJ - I know a lot of people worry about cost, esp if maintenance means taking a dose for the foreseeable. I keep detailed spending records and just finished my annual analysis & I honestly think the cost of MJ ( for me £127 per 5 weeks for 5mg) is well offset by reduced spending on food & snacks. I ran across an old receipt for sandwich & a drink from a petrol station - I would never do that now. Snacking like that is just gone.

Femeia · 04/01/2025 20:31

I am at a 22.5 BMI, with 2 more 15mg pens left. I know for definite that I need to keep on with this as I am 100% sure that I'll put back all the weight otherwise. I still want to lose around 10lbs to hopefully flatten my big tummy a bit, so the remaining pens will get me some way to that. I guess I'm looking for advice on what to do now - the maintenance plans are so confusing and I've not seen that Bolt (who I'm with) offer them. They want photos before my next order so I want to see if they will let me order a 12.5mg pen if I explain the situation.

If not, i assume i still need to decrease my doses after the 2 pens and then continue at a lower dose, and does anyone know a provider who would be suitable? I am hoping I've not left it too late to go onto maintenance (the irony...)

KrankyKumquat · 04/01/2025 20:39

@Femeia
Oushk will consider taking you on with a lower BMI. Have a look at the plans on their website. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

Femeia · 04/01/2025 21:11

Thanks @KrankyKumquat, did you join with a BMI of under 25? I see they consider this on a case by case basis, am wondering how they want proof. I do have my Renpho app with my weight tracked, plus my MJ order history. Could probably dig out a few photos but I avoided the camera like mad when at my higher weight.

KrankyKumquat · 04/01/2025 21:22

No I was with them before but know others on here have done it. You'll need to book a video consultation (£5) via the website with Hira, the pharmacist. I think there's a 3 or 4 week wait now for an appt due to numbers of new patients moving to them for maintenance. Previous prescribing history needed (but think you just chat about this, rather than provide full evidence, and just provide photo of current pen box prescription label) and photo (current as they need to confirm not too thin, rather than fat enough if you see what I mean 😅).

Ha ha! I think my big belly will hopefully qualify me! Thanks for the info

Thebaldprimadonna · 05/01/2025 12:17

Weighed in after my few weeks off MJ. I was 10st 7 at my lowest and am now 11st 4... I'd say that half of that is from Christmas (and I was out for a meal and drinks last night).

I have my 2.5 in the fridge, so will be starting again today. I think it's fair to say that I still need to retrain to be without MJ.
