I’ve still got a good 2-3 stones to lose (took it steady in the hope the weight will stay off) and will still probably be overweight on the BMI calculation even then (5’5 and CW of 14.3). I have 4 x 15mg pens stockpiled so around 20 doses. The ‘plan’ is to hopefully have list a good chunk of the weight by the time they are used and start to titrate down thru the doses. Luckily I kept old clothes that are so nice to get back into - some already too large!

NextPrimeMinister · 01/01/2025 19:11

Just weighed in today, to start the year off. 1lb up (it was more like 3lb imeadatly after Xmas day).

I'm literally at my perfect weight. Like Flappy says, to start the year off without needing to lose weight is unbelievable.

Big thanks to this group, as I've never felt I've been on my own one step of the way.

Wonkypictureframe · 01/01/2025 19:15

I was about 3lbs up on my previous weight this morning - probably mostly bloat from a bit meal out last night, but an incentive to get right back to healthiness. Like many of you, it’s a big treat to start the year needing to lose 3lbs and not 3 stones!

chouxchoux · 02/01/2025 14:19

Tad late but my loss (since 18/03/2024) to add to the tally is 57lbs.

Am only about 2lbs over my goal weight (BMI is 22.5), so now muddling around in maintenance territory which is bonkers and baffling!

Well done!
Yes maintenance is very tricky. I've lost and gained the same 1-2lbs repeatedly over the Christmas period and I feel like I can't take my eye of the ball for a moment - it was certainly easier psychologically to just focus on losing every week. I've been reducing dose by about 1mg every week or so, from 10mg to 6mg, but now don't know whether I should up my dose to stop the small gains or carry on reducing to stop the small losses. Or just accept that life now means gaining, panicking, losing, relaxing...repeat. Nice problem to have I know but it's taking up a surprisingly large amount of headspace which I wasn't really prepared for.

spamm · 02/01/2025 15:17

Thanks @ObsidianTree. I will start searching seriously on Monday. It is weird - I am very up and down about it, some days struggling, some days hopeful. But I am trying hard not to lapse into comfort eating. I can feel it just hiding around the corner and I know I CANNOT let that happen.

@FlappyFish - I was looking at photos from Christmas last year and thinking just that. My traditional New Year's resolution is to throw/recycle/donate one thing every day. And in 2024 I threw away so much baggage - weight, old clothes and some emotional challenges. But I still have a load of emotional stuff to tackle, including letting myself see me at my new weight.

Yep food noise, being around treats and calorie counting to try and work out what constitutes maintenance eating takes a lot more mental energy than 'no food noise and not much hunger'!!!

NextPrimeMinister · 02/01/2025 18:29

My top tip is to not have treats in the house. Whilst on mj, we got out the habit of wanting them. But boy, I've been scoffing them left right and centre over Christmas!

I'll second this. If I know there are chocolates, biscuits, cakes etc in the house I will eat them. If I don't buy them I don't eat them- simple really, but I can't bear to throw the remainder of the Xmas treats away.

KrankyKumquat · 02/01/2025 18:49

@NextPrimeMinister
Yes you're right. I'm struggling with finding a new, sustainable normal though and I've had worse digestive upsets since starting maintenance than I ever did when losing weight. Like today, we had some lovely, leftover roast beef so I thought 'ooh, a nice beef sandwich for lunch'. 2 slices of bread, 1 slice of beef and raging indigestion ever since so I won't be eating again today....I don't know, maybe bread will have to be avoided in the future 😕. I can't afford to lose much more but upping calories isn't turning out to be straightforward either. Back to basics tomorrow I think.

ThirdStorm · 02/01/2025 19:25

I thought it was just me! I scoffed a bag of chocolate, first treat since I started MJ. I was thinking about nibbles tonight and now worried I can’t stop! Old habit came back with vengeance.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 02/01/2025 21:39

I've put on 3lb which I'm fine with - quite surprised as in the last week I've eaten at Pizza Hut twice, had 2 Indian takeaways, a subway lunch and every day having shortbread and chocolate. I'm on 7.5mg currently which is probably my 5th week I think. I probably should be coming down a bit more soon rather than dropping straight to 5mg in a few weeks.

I'm panicking slightly about how I get down to 2.5mg as I only have 10mg pens left. Really should have ordered a 2.5mg when it was cheap 😣

I spent a fortune in Levi's this week. Could fit in 28in waist but have gone for 29in for comfort. I would never have thought that possible!

AgathaMystery · 02/01/2025 21:49

I’ve maintained. No change here in my weight in about 6 weeks but I’m happy with it. Currently on my 1st 10mg dose.

DDisnotnormal · 03/01/2025 12:44

Happy New Year!! Have any of you purchased a 15mg pen in the last week or so? If so what did you pay for it?

I've been with Medexpress since I started in April (I've been too lazy to shop around!!). I got my last 15mg at a bargain price because they price matched and there was a black Friday discount. Just tried to price match with the care pharmacy and its been rejected. They are charging £179.99 with no discount and provide wipes and needles so I can't see why Medexpress won't price match!!

I think I'm going to spit my dummy out with them and move to a local to me pharmacy that do face to face consultations. They charge £200 for 15mg so with no delivery fee it would actually be cheaper than Medexpress. I also like the idea of face to face consultations and being able to pick up my pen in person rather than waiting in for deliveries.

I don't think I can be bothered changing online providers but if anyone has got a 15mg for significantly less than £179.99 in the past week I might change over. I'm still well over bmi 30 so should be accepted x

KeepingUndercover · 03/01/2025 13:04

This website does a good comparison of prices with relevant discount codes. Cheapest 15mg currently pharmacy2u. I've been using IQ Doctor for my last two who always seem to have quite a chunky discount code on. https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/

If you select the strength you want it'll order them cheapest to most expensive.

DDisnotnormal · 03/01/2025 13:11

@KeepingUndercover thank you 😊 That's the website I got the care pharmacy price from. I was looking for one that didn't have any discount codes on. Medexpress are obviously being deliberately obtuse after giving such large discounts when the black Friday sales were on!!!

I'm reluctant to change online providers because I'm lazy but if I can save more than £30 it's probably worth it. I'll check out IQ doctor. Thanks again x

If you're happy with the theoretical risk, use your 10mg pen and reduce dose each week by 1mg, counting clicks (1mg equals 6 clicks). That's what I'm doing, now at 5mg from 10mg pen, first time I've gone over the 30day thing but no issues so far.

KrankyKumquat · 03/01/2025 13:17

@DDisnotnormal
I might be wrong as I'm not a Medexpress customer but I'm sure I saw on Reddit that they've now listed the pharmacies they'll price match with, it wasn't many, rather than price matching with any.

DDisnotnormal · 03/01/2025 13:24

@KrankyKumquat thank you 😊They've just replied back to me to say it's because the care pharmacy don't provide a sharps bin (suspected it would be this). I've replied to say I will no longer be using them because they are being absolutely ridiculous- they only provide a sharps bin with a first order which I bet the care pharmacy do too!!x

ThirdStorm · 03/01/2025 13:29

Maybe MedExpress will give me a discount if I send them back the 5 extra sharps boxes I’ve been sent over the last few orders?! So annoying but because I order 2.5mg they assume I’m a new user.

I think I saw that the list of places are only those that are priced quite high. So making their price match pointless!

OP posts:
ThirdStorm · 03/01/2025 15:14

Here is MedExpress's price match policy, quite different now. I'm going to try my luck asking if they'll give me a credit prior to ordering against Chemist4u who is on their list. https://support.medexpress.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/20395961330717-Price-Match-Policy

DDisnotnormal · 03/01/2025 15:19

@ObsidianTree yep, it is completely pointless...I told them that too!!😅 I've booked a face to face consultation with my local pharmacy for next week as its slightly cheaper than Medexpress excluding delivery fee.
I could get it quite a bit cheaper if I shop around for online discounts but face to face support was what I wanted all along so might aswell give it a try. I budgeted for around £200 per month which was before I knew about the "5th" dose so I'll still be below what I thought I was going to be spending x

KrankyKumquat · 03/01/2025 15:45

@Everyone
Today, I shall be mostly wearing...new size 12 M&S knickers 🥳.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 03/01/2025 16:04

@KrankyKumquat I've been using a 10mg pen for my 7.5mg dose and was going to do this for the 5mg too, but a bit wary that 2.5mg would mean the pen is open far too long. I'm not usually bothered about it being open longer, but it will be months. It's in the fridge and can be wiped down between uses, but still seems a long time.
