@Choux @Wonkypictureframe I don't trust the body fat on these scales. If you change your setting to athlete (which by their own definition is exercising 4-5 hours a week), you'll wee a huge change. Mine goes down from about 29 to 20 just by changing the setting. And my metabolic change will not go below my real age for love or money

But isn’t that then assuming much more of your body is muscle? There’s no way my body fat is anywhere near 20%!

I do take the scales overall with a pinch of salt. They were under £20 and presumably nowhere near as accurate as proper scanning tech.

Choux · 19/12/2024 13:06

At least mine makes logical sense. Build muscle which will help reduce the body fat percentages and hopefully get both into the green. And hopefully cut my metabolic age by a year so it matches my real age.

The only thing I have going for me muscle wise is my bum and legs have good muscle definition. Abs and arms not so much. In fact the muscles are non existent in my upper body.

@Choux Your and my stats as % are virtually the same. My goal for 2025 is also to continue to reduce body fat and build muscle if I can.

Bum is flat, and somewhat painful to sit on hard surfaces. I can feel my tailbone and it's bloody sharp! I have saggy skin at the bottom of my arse so always end up with a bit of a double bum from where my undies sit.

I agree that the Renpho scales are likely not the most accurate, however I think they're probably a pretty good indicator. I don't argue with my stats as I think my body fat is still pretty high.

My visceral fat has dropped to 6 which I'm really pleased about!

ThirdStorm · 19/12/2024 13:28

@guestusername ive had something similar overnight, along with a headache and fever. My last dose was Sunday so I’m thinking it’s a bug and a coincidence like others have said. Feel better soon.

@AgathaMystery thats so sad! I must admit thanks to phase eight being weirdly sized the gorgeous maxi dress I picked up at my favourite charity shop in a 16 at the weekend is a perfect fit, despite me now being a 12 in trousers pretty much everywhere else! 🤣🤣

Choux · 19/12/2024 10:55

Re puking is it possible your diets and alcohol intake has got a bit heavier due to Christmas events and that's making you more susceptible to side effects from taking your MJ dose?

I’ve somehow managed to stay off the alcohol and away from the Christmas food, but I did have a cheese and onion pasty which is looking more and more like the pukey culprit 😳

guestusername · 19/12/2024 13:31

Thank you ladies for your kind replies - after a good night sleep I do indeed feel much better 😀

Moanranger · 19/12/2024 14:20

So with @Choux ‘s update and@PonyPatter44 reporting we are now at 2048 lbs!

KeepingUndercover · 19/12/2024 16:28

I did a 12.5mg injection yesterday and was also very sick this morning. Not unusual for me, the day after I am quite often sick first thing. Feels like when I had pregnancy sickness! I didn't sleep well last night which also makes it worse.

Has anyone had this from MedExpress? It's a friend who has been with them for eight months and they want ALL her medical history and notes. I know they're all getting more strict, which is a good thing, but this seems a bit extreme. When she had to claim on insurance for a holiday because she was booked for an op she had to send two years of medical records and it was about 50 pages, this is going to be loads more. Seems a bit intrusive. Think she's going to go somewhere else.

@MoreThanJustANumber
Wow, I've never seen this from any prescriber before. Has she a health condition which they've only just cottoned on to and they're frantically trying to cover their backs? It'd be easier to just get a note from her GP saying she's suitable and has nothing of concern going on, I wonder if they'd accept that instead. If this is a new policy of theirs, I think a lot of people will be looking for a new pharmacy.

No, she did have a hip replacement at some point but she's pretty healthy overall. Think she'd be better off somewhere else anyway with all their arguing about price matching.

Choux · 19/12/2024 16:52

That MedExpress mail reads to me that they don't want to prescribe to her for some reason but don't want to decline her so are making it so difficult and onerous that she just gives up and goes elsewhere.

KrankyKumquat · 19/12/2024 16:54

@MoreThanJustANumber
Blimey, it is odd then. Ah well, their loss, I'm sure someone else will be happy to take her business.

What nonsense! Like MedExpress are going to have the time to comb through every single person's medical history!

No idea why they are making things so difficult! It's like they no longer want customers!

Is she practically at maintenance? What dose is she trying to order? Is she quite savvy about price matching etc?

I suspect they are trying to get rid of customers they won't be able supply much longer due to their BMI being low and they are on lower doses with reduced profit margins as they ask for price matching.

Come January there will be a whole host of obese newbies with a New Year's Resolution to lose weight. MedExpress can supply them for months on higher doses at higher margins. It's all about making money.

Scalessayeek · 19/12/2024 17:48

🙋🏻‍♀️ another member of the non existent butt club. I genuinely have two rolls of loose skin hanging at the bottom of my "butt". Hoping to have an FDL tummy tuck in 18 months and they'll go round the back a little so hoping that helps. (That and will start building up muscle in the new year)

She's on 7.5mg and wants to go up to 10mg, still a fair way to go before a healthy BMI. She has done the price match when she's remembered but it's not been a driving force, she's been with them since the beginning. Seems odd after eight months. [can't find shrug emoji]

NextPrimeMinister · 20/12/2024 07:32

I had my second consultation with Hira yesterday.

I'm finally at goal so we talked about me going down to 10mg for my next pen.

To increase my calories by approx 400, by introducing a protein breakfast and a protein snack like a baby bell in the day.

The aim is to build up muscle with protein and exercise, so I can eat more (1,400 as I'm v small) but not gain weight.

She said it would be good to get me to that and a 5mg dose as a support.

I've got my 12.5gm pen to finish over Xmas and will embark on my weaning off phase in January.

I'm 1 pound off a 5 stone WL. It's the best Christmas present I could give myself 😍

olympicsrock · 20/12/2024 07:56

Morning all, I started MJ in April - never went above 5mg , lost 3.75 stone and stopped ( from 3.75) at the end of November as I was really ill with a chest infection . I have eaten ‘normally’ , still smaller portions , some booze but less than before except one big night out with cocktails and some treats. Have gained 4lb in 3.5 weeks.
I will be going back on MJ after Christmas. It’s like I have lost my focus and drive as psychologically I am not ‘on a weight loss’ programme.
I’m surprised how easy it has been to slip although I am enjoying feeling less tired and nauseated for December

Choux · 20/12/2024 08:05

That all sounds good @NextPrimeMinister. I have just dropped down to 10mg and am focussing on building muscle. My Renpho scales say my BMR is 1290 cals so would like to see if I can up it to 1,400 through building muscle. Either way a bit of activity on top (my watch tells me I average 400 cals a day on activity) that should allow me to eat c1,800 per day which sounds like a lot!

Did Hira say how quickly she thought you could titrate down to 5mg? I plan to drop down very slowly and spend maybe 3 months at 10mg for now as I really don't want to see my weight increase so want to be sure I am maintaining at each dose before trying a lower one.

Have a lovely high protein Christmas! 🎄

NextPrimeMinister · 20/12/2024 08:18

@choux no, we didn't talk timescales and if anything alluded to the 5mg as being a permanent feature (but I could have assumed that, as I feel it will be necessary).

She did say it's getting the balance right now, and dropping down enough so I can eat more, but not so much that all control is lost.

She's very knowledgeable about reasons for weight gain and completely understands how MJ helps us make the right food choices and how it's going to be needed to support maintenance.

Sounds cheesy, but I do feel supported on this maintenance journey and don't feel like I'm on my own. I didn't like the idea of a video consultation when I moved supplier, but yesterday's call was invaluable.

I've lost loads of weight over the years, my biggest challenge now will be to keep it off, which I've never managed before.

spamm · 20/12/2024 12:06

I have some catching up to do - have been MIA for a while dealing with some hard stuff in life, but want to add my weight loss to the tally - down 55 lbs.

Will be back for more an update once I make it through the rest of the thread.

KrankyKumquat · 20/12/2024 12:22

@NextPrimeMinister
Glad to hear your consult went well. Sounds like your plan is similar to mine although I'm reducing doses from 10mg 'off licence', by about 1mg a week and will be at 7.5 tomorrow, ready for 5mg pen in January. So far, no bounce back hunger/alcohol cravings.
I feel similar re comfort of having some support now (weirdly, I didn't need/want this while losing weight as I got everything I needed here). I had a very speedy, helpful response when I needed some advice re unintended weightloss at the beginning of the month. She's very knowledgeable but also warm and empathetic, despite being a very beautiful, slim woman (I clearly have some biases and low expectations in that regard!)
