Oh and if we get into the amount lost, I also tell them I have lost far less than I have really lost. I have lost almost 3.5 stone since I started MJ in March but would say 'I have lost over 2.5 stone and have been dieting since January but you probably haven't noticed before as I just bought these smaller trousers a couple of weeks ago'.

That makes it seem less drastic and no one really knows what a 3 stone v 4 stone weight loss looks like.

Wonkypictureframe · 15/12/2024 19:31

I saw lots of people this weekend for a pre-Christmas thing and got a lot of comments. When asked how I did it I always say ‘I ate a lot less food’, which is of course true. I told the truth to one friend who is struggling badly with meno and I didn’t think it would be fair to suggest I’d had no other help.

KrankyKumquat · 15/12/2024 19:51

Yes, I need to prepare better. It's just always so unexpected - I wouldn't dream of being negative to someone, especially uninvited, after changing their hair, clothes style, weight or whatever. Whatever they've done, they're investing in themselves and that doesn't give me permission to pass judgement. Maybe a lifetime of being publically judged has made us more sensitive to others' struggles...Plus it's just basic good manners 🤷

Current tally is 1724lbs lost for all reporting.
@Everdecreasingcircumferences did you report you loss before your last post on 11 Dec?

No I hadn't reported before so your tally at that post was correct
(Have actually regained a lb this weekend, won't count that though!).

It really is. It’s the prime area where ‘if you’ve got nothing good to say, say nothing at all’ kicks in.

I saw a bunch of folk I've not seen for ages at my kids sports today and a couple of them very kindly said something along the lines of "I'm not sure I should say anything but you look like you've lost a lot of weight. It looks well on you, not that you didn't look OK before".
It was lovely, very different to the shrieks of "OMG you've lost much weight, you look AMAZING!!!" I got on a night out a few months ago from others. It felt really good be honest, they were wanting be be complimentary but understood the idea of being tactful about it. Some people just get it don't they (not sure if it makes a difference but the comments were from people I've never known to be overweight so they don't appear to have been speaking from experience).
I do look better, I never thought I looked bad heavier, just big and beautiful, but I really do feel more like the much younger me with less weight around my face (despite the greying hair and wrinkles). We all have ups and downs - today is going down as a win.

ObsidianTree · 15/12/2024 20:36

I think a lot of us are going to get a lot of comments over Christmas when visiting families and what not. Suppose we should prepare for the inevitable questions! I also think it's tricky when you have to eat with people and have to have an excuse why you can't eat more than like half of your meal. I might just delay my jab until after Xmas so that I have a bit more space on Xmas day! Think the agro wouldn't be worth it if I didn't eat much and people started quizzing me!

No real progress here but I can't even pretend I'm trying at the moment! Lots of Xmassy day time activities and nights out and, with the 10mg, I can handle a glass of wine or two, eat a pizza, eat a mince pie and pretty much whatever I want but I can't overdose. For once, I actually have an off button. For example, I was at a friends the other day and there was a buffet spread and I had a few crisps, half a sausage roll, one Brie & cranberry thing, a couple of pigs in blankets and a lot of crudités. I also had things sat on my plate for ages. Previously, I would have just started at one end of the spread and worked my way through it.

I was thinking of taking mine on Friday instead of Tuesday for that exact reason. I’m lucky that none of my family know I’ve been on the injections, they wouldnt ask and the conversation will be all around the new house but we are doing a day with my OH’s family as well and while some of them know I’m on the injections, I don’t want to miss out on the mountain of delicious food there! I’ll allow myself two days off then back on it again straight after

Moanranger · 16/12/2024 08:42

Current updated total is 1866 lbs. I am assuming @Donewiththisshit recent post of 3 stone lost is correct?
So 2 weeks on from reaching goal, I am weighing religiously every morning & am maintaining just below goal. My hope is that I can create a new set point, but I know it will take awhile. I have been to a few Christmas do’s in the interim, but have planned my eating carefully around these. So far so good.
I bought a new pair of jeans, M &S boot cut, size 12 regular, they look great - nice to be able to go in a shop, slip on clothes, & they fit - no dragging on the ground because the legs are too long to accommodate my girth. Those days are gone!

Wonkypictureframe · 16/12/2024 09:12

Ha, @Moanranger. I have the opposite - a pair of gloriously wide leg trousers that show off my newly small waist - but basically sweep the ground as I walk. I have to hold them up as I go!

NCfor24 · 15/12/2024 08:03

@KrankyKumquat fabulous! And I have a witchy Spark t-shirt too...love yours!
@ThirdStorm I've replaced my trousers and jeans, well I have far less now but slowly increasing my wardrobe, but tops I'm still wearing so it looks like my style is a bit slouchy and grungy now. Husband loves it and says I'm very 90s 🤣

The best NSV yesterday... Was taking my 11yo to football and mentioned I was going out with friends last night. He said I will definitely see my progress when I'm dressed up because I'm a slim mum now, but he doesn't want me to get thin so I can stop. Then he said we can go for long walks again, just the 2 of us and talk. Like during covid. I had no idea he enjoyed those times as I had to drag him out, but I absolutely will have some active one to one times with my kids now that walking is easier.

The comment about the walks with your son nearly brought a tear to my eyes! How absolutely lovely. Definitely the best NSV.

Flapearedknave · 16/12/2024 21:27

Today I am having more suppression that I have in a long time!I had forgotten how this feels. I have not eaten all day, only had a protein shake with collagen. And that was easy to have again where I have struggled the last two months. 15mg has never been this strong for me before. I'm happy, as I assumed I'd maybe come to the end of it working. But this suppression is something else, as I say no hunger/ thoughts/ wants for any food. Food feels quite unappetising and a small tortilla cheese toastie has over filled me! Thinking I'll be going taking 10mg next week!

I am wondering if the last two pens cold thing had been wrecked at some point along the way. Maybe got too warm before it hit the pharmacy? Who knows.

Has anyone else had a period of minor suppression and then it comes back full blast!

Choux · 17/12/2024 00:00

I bought some new work trousers today. The same design I used to wear in a 16 and then moved to a 14 in. Today I bought them in a 12. I felt so slim when I first bought the 14s but now they are hanging off me. I looked at the M and S boot cut jeans too as I need jeans. And bras. And undies. And t shirts. I pretty much need a new wardrobe. But I just wanted to focus on the work trousers today.

I bought straight leg trousers as before but actually tried on the slim fit in a 12 and they also looked good. But I bought the straight leg - in part to stick to what I know but also because the slim fit accentuated the weight loss more and, after having a few comments from colleagues, I decided I'd rather not accentuate how slim my legs now were. Maybe when I need another pair I'll get the slim fit.

ThirdStorm · 17/12/2024 07:44

@Choux Moving into size 12 trousers was never the plan and quite a shock but I'm happy to be here. In the last fortnight I think I've brought 12 pairs of trousers/jeans on vinted, all to replace the larger size. I've been pleased to have sourced all my favourites. I'm keeping my size 14s and 16s. I want this time to be different but I've yo-yo'd for years!

Wonkypictureframe · 17/12/2024 10:35

I’m in the tricky position of being slightly too thin for the size 12s I’ve got but fully expecting to put a bit back on once I stop so not wanting to buy much is size 10.

KrankyKumquat · 17/12/2024 11:43

I need new knickers which is really annoying as I tend to have 10 plus pairs at a time as we only use the washing machine once a week! But my current 16-18s are constantly slipping. Also PJs and bras. I really resent spending money on things like this as it feels like a chore rather than pleasure 😅 but am going to have to get myself sorted. I don't think we're due at any posh dos over Christmas which is just as well given that the only things I've got to wear which fit, are jeans! I did venture into TK Maxx, which my friends rave about, but I thought it was awful so left empty handed - maybe I was doing it wrong...

Still losing a bit of weight on maintenance but cutting dose slowly each week and will be on 7.5 from 10mg pen from Saturday. I do feel a bit hungrier at tea time but still not eating very much so I don't know... Hopefully however, I'll be able to jump down to 5mg with next pen in January which will help financially at least. I think I'm probably a super responder so maybe that's why I'm struggling a bit with stopping losing.

Choux · 17/12/2024 12:14

@KrankyKumquat I can only do TK Maxx for bags and shoes and toiletries and house stuff. I like it but the clothes rails are too jumbled and I lose enthusiasm for spotting a bargain very quickly.

Bras - my current bras I am wearing are M&S. 36DD for normal wear and 38D for sports bras (which are virtually unworn bought before I discovered Mounjaro when I was going to 'eat a bit less and move a bit more'). I fill them much less now but with the 2 or 3 sets of hooks on each the band can be tightened so they are still wearable.

I have no idea what size I will need when I rebuy. I should measure but then will need an hour or more of trying various sizes in a large M&S. Pre my weight gain ie 15 years ago I was a 34-36B and I think I will be somewhere near that again now. I want to buy those soon as I think they will help all my old thin clothes that I have now started wearing look better.

Wonkypictureframe · 17/12/2024 12:16

I got some really nice pants from TK Maxx. But only on my second try. I find you do have to go in with a jumble sale mentality and the stock varies hugely between branches. I don’t really like the ‘style’ of a lot of the stuff in my local one but have had a lot more success in others.

KrankyKumquat · 17/12/2024 12:27

Yes, the rails were crammed so tight in TK Maxx it was really hard to spot ok stuff or get anything out to look at properly and I quickly lost the will to live. I was over-heating too which always makes me arsey.

ObsidianTree · 17/12/2024 13:18

My undies are also getting big! I have some granny panties I use when I have my totm. As the pad sits better in them...sorry tmi! I've noticed they go all the way up to my waist now! Before they would just fit the lower part of my belly! Definitely need new smaller ones!

OP posts:
Moanranger · 17/12/2024 13:28

I wore my size 14 boot cut jeans (which I loved) to garden in today & they slipped down over my hips & nearly tripped me up! @KrankyKumquat , I second @Wonkypictureframe advice. Go in at a quiet time, & have in mind what you are looking for.
I had 4 old but v nice bras which I am now wearing-34As😱, which is why I don’t want to lose anymore- I would be in training bras!

KrankyKumquat · 17/12/2024 13:35

@ObsidianTree
Yes I've always worn M&S granny pants to get over the tum and bum, but now I'm pretty much straight up and down, reckon I only need minis. At least I'll be able to fit more on the radiator to dry.

@Moanranger OK, will try TK Maxx again, when the shops quieten down in January. Can't imagine the hell it must be during the sales!

Honestly, we're all in a bit of a state with our clothing, aren't we? Dropping our trousers, losing our knickers, holding on to our PJ bottoms and falling out of our bras 😅 Quite irresistible...

ThirdStorm · 17/12/2024 14:01

Am I the only ones whose knickers still fit?! Ha! Good ole M&S. M&S discontinued what I like so I don't really want to have to replace them.

Choux · 17/12/2024 14:04

My most recent M&S undies are high rise shorts but they seem so frumpy now as they almost reach my naval. I think I will buy a pack of low rise shorts and see how I get on them.
