@KrankyKumquat thank you for the info. I'll ask my local pharmacies as Asda is in another town to me I get It delivered by post. I assumed there would be a number or email to contact about collection or drop off. It should all be part of the service it's expensive enough. Thanks again :)

KrankyKumquat · 04/12/2024 16:26

@beckslovestimmy It's a pain. My council collects from the door but you have to fill in a form and get your gp to sign it first. As they're not the prescriber, I bet they'd refuse. I did wonder if local hospital might take it but haven't tried yet. I can imagine the box will end up filed under 'too hard to sort' and be stashed away till we move house one day

NextPrimeMinister · 04/12/2024 17:17

I'm sat here is a hospital waiting room and am going to save mine up until I'm here again and find a sharps receptical, if such a thing exists.

My council does not collect, and GP refuses so can't think of another way to get rid!

imnottoofussed · 04/12/2024 15:42

They will email to confirm when they have added a credit and the amount. Then when you go to order it's there in the price section as discount and deducts from what you owe

MedExpress have now given me the price match plus £5. As long as I can layer the Black Friday 25% I will order as c£115 is still a good deal.

My brother lives in the US and he pays $1,000 a month for his!

Choux · 04/12/2024 17:28

It must take 12 months plus to fill a sharps bin surely? I will just keep cramming more in for as long as I can. But yes, many a full sharps bin will end up in lofts as no one knows how to get rid of them.

I may need to wander my local hospital to see if I can see an easy way to get rid of it!

Any outpatient clinic should take them. We take loads in where I work. It’s more the chemists that can’t take them.

Choux · 04/12/2024 17:37

Here's a list of pharmacies in North and Central London who are part of a needle exchange programme and may take them.

ThirdStorm · 04/12/2024 17:43

If my council won’t take my sharps box, I plan to leave it in reception at my local GP surgery next time I visit, I don’t think anybody would notice me and then they’ll have to deal with it. I have loads of empty ones, where can I send them?!

Wonkypictureframe · 04/12/2024 17:48

My council collects so it’s worth checking if you haven’t already. Mine insists on collecting two though so I’ve been splitting my needles between two different boxes!

KrankyKumquat · 04/12/2024 17:52

Needle exchange members will take them but I've heard that can be a bit awkward and they may want to give you clean needles in exchange! I'm thinking stashing in a hospital/GP waiting room will end up being a favoured spot for many, but am gonna try an outpatients dept as suggested by @AgathaMystery . I reckon I've got about 3 month's space left in mine. When I worked in a vets, we used to charge customers about a fiver to get rid of them for their diabetic pets, but I know the practice owner also had to pay a small fortune to get clinical waste collected every week.

@thebaldprimadonna

Good to hear from you! 3st 4lb is impressive. Glad you're still plugging away. Let us know how your plan with ME goes.

Low suppression is so annoying, especially as there's no where to go after 15.

They didn't contact me to find out why I ordered only 2.5mg and have shipped it, so I am committed now 🙏

NCfor24 · 04/12/2024 22:04

Re sharps bin, I park outside a tattoo studio every week whilst my kids do a class next door and they have a clinical waste only bin....suspect my sharps bin will end up there.
However, 9 months in and the bin is nowhere near full so won't be anytime soon!

Choux · 04/12/2024 23:27

Woohoo! Placed my MedExpress order. 12.5mg for £100. Good deal!!!

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/12/2024 08:34

I managed to stay strong and not order from MedExpress. Regretting dropping down to 7.5mg this week though, I'm bloody starving 😭.

The hunger is awful - can't imagine how I'll manage once I come off altogether. Saw a colleague this week who has lost 3 and half stone through diet and exercise. She's full of energy and very happy (she still has lots more to lose so it will be a lengthy journey) whereas I just feel flat and have no energy. Hate seeing the scales creeping up most days so hopefully I'll start to get used to the hunger rather than giving in.

KrankyKumquat · 05/12/2024 09:39

@PissedOffNeighbour22
I'm sorry to hear times are tough for you. The return of strong appetite when you drop down a dose is concerning - might it be worth counting clicks to go mid-way perhaps? Say 8 or 9mg?

I'm at a bit of a crossroads as I was hoping to maintain on 10mg till after Christmas but my 3rd month at this dose hasn't gone quite to plan as I've had zero appetite, felt a bit unwell and lost 7lbs which is too much. I've got an 'emergency' consult with Oushk this afternoon and hoping she'll agree, off the record, for me to count clicks and go down to about 8mg on my new 10mg pen. I haven't got a 7.5 pen so can't just swap to that.

There was a FB live last night on maintenance. Nothing we haven't already discussed here I don't think except it will be permitted to maintain with one month on, one month off (but only once you've titrated down to 2.5 or 5mg). This gives some hope for the future in terms of reducing costs so a good development (if it works in terms of maintaining weight loss, obvs).

Wonkypictureframe · 05/12/2024 09:40

That's promising as that's something I was hoping for.

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 05/12/2024 10:26

@KrankyKumquat I really didn't expect to even notice much of a difference with the dose, but I'm absolutely starving all the time. It's from a 10mg pen I've been using so not a new 7.5mg pen that might have got warm or anything.

Just doing my safeguarding training online for work and came across an example of something that should be reported:
'An employee who has lost extreme amounts of weight and is disguising it with baggy clothes'.
I know I shouldn't laugh, but it just reminded me of all the chat on here about us wearing our old fat clothes for as long as possible to save money to buy more MJ 🫢

I'm worried about titrating down now! Planned go go down to 12.5 for for next pen. Hope it goes ok!

Choux · 05/12/2024 12:12

@ObsidianTree I am currently on 12.5mg after a few months in 15mg and it's ok. I don't feel too much hunger but can eat regularly and reasonable sized portions. It feels a bit like invisible suppression rather than full suppression.

I was planning on dropping to 10mg next week but have decided this is a bad idea in the run up to Christmas so will do another month on 12.5mg.

ObsidianTree · 06/12/2024 08:35

Thanks @Choux. That sounds alright. I do feel kind of done with the side effects the day after the jab where I'm gassy and burpy. So maybe lower doses will mean I can continue to eat smaller portions but with none of the side effects.

I do still want to lose a stone, but as a have some spare pens in lower doses, I'm going to have to get through them before they expire! So will have to titrate down and hope I can still lose a few lbs a month.

OP posts:
KeepingUndercover · 06/12/2024 08:59

I am back from a week's holiday and only half a pound heavier. Pretty pleased about that, I had reasonable suppression anyway despite missing a jab and tried to be sensible. I could restart today now I'm back and switch my injection day but I think I'm going to hold off for my usual Monday and miss the whole week. I'm pretty jet lagged and don't want to add my day 1 tiredness from side effects on top of that!

KrankyKumquat · 06/12/2024 10:47

A couple of pounds off 5st loss and today, my bra is too big, for the first time. I work from home and so rarely wear one so estimate it's been a week since I last put it on. So, in combination with no bum, I'm becoming a bit androgynous which I understand from the young people, is very dope 😅

Wonkypictureframe · 06/12/2024 12:30

I've finally bought new bras. I'm three back sizes and a cup size down, and am wearing bras that look like the starter ones they make for teenagers. My bum is non-existent although I do now have some muscle there! But my tailbone has zero cushioning.

FlappyFish · 06/12/2024 12:41

Hi lovely lot. I’m back on MJ now. I took the 2.5 yesterday and I am so glad. Straight back into suppression, lack of food noise and no appetite. THANK GOD.

I am full of cold and being unwell made me eat like crap on top of my period.
